#2,608: Leggy Smiley!
I came to this one on a very nice walk with my GeoMissus, GeoYoungling #3, and some new cachers, kumachanz. Temperatures were perfect, and we made it all the way to Sawyers Arms and back to the Groynes with everyone in good spirits.
This was our fourth stop, after deciding to take this side road. Once I got home, I noticed this one didn't show up on laptop. Hmmm. Well, turns out I had an older pocket query on my GPSr, which had this and its sister on it. The track in from the bridge was fine, and we didn't need to cross any posted private land. All in good shape!
SL/TFTC!!

Time to say goodbye

15-Aug-16
Disabling until we know whats happening re the " private property" sign on bridge.

14-Aug-16
The bridge at S43 27.206 E172 35.031 had a gate across the end of it with a no entry sign... I couldn't see any other access to this section of the walkway (other than jumping over/through the creek), so I didn't attempt this cache and the other one nearby... This is a very new and expensive looking bridge, which makes me wonder why it now has a gate across it - perhaps it is just temporary?

The last find of our lunchtime stroll. I love the bridge not far from GZ, it's quite substantial and I wonder why it's been built so high above the stream.
With the cache name, I should have been prepared for the cache container but I wasn't and got a wee scare as I groped for it Surprised. An appropriate hide for the location. Thanks for the enjoyable walk on a lovely winters day. TFTC.

Second find for the day whilst out mountain biking. Enjoyed this one and the creative container. TFTC

Very late log - 24 Sept Sad Been busy moving house - to 7 hours away.

This cache was found on a Girl Guide unit. Having found Carabidae with small groups we then all set out to walk along this walkway. Each group started with a different cache to find, and those we missed going out we got (or didn't) on the way back.
The rain was starting as we left - but that didn't stop us much.
Another great container - took a bit of looking but they got there without too much trouble.

Thanks for the cache.

Found this one easily as it was sitting in plain sight. The cache looks to have either been through a weed wacker or attacked by a persistant critter as the cache was cracked and missing a piece and the tape rather shredded. Had nothing to replace with but covered again out of sight.

05-Feb-16
We will be out to fix this cache shortly.......sounds like it needs a complete new container.

01-Feb-16
Starting to get dark and even though it was found yesterday decided to leave it for another day. Clean up been done in this area. Detour gave us the extra steps required for the day though.

31-Jan-16
Out on a Sunday outing with jdscout. We found a place to park on Clearwater at the track park. Then we headed off.
Loved the new bridge and additional plantings. This poor geocache needs some TLC. It was all smashed up.

Found on a weekend stroll with my wife

26-Jan-16
Not sure that we took the easiest route to GZ but the cache was a quick find when we got there. TFTC.

04-Jan-16
Quick find on the walk. Lovely warm day tftc

04-Jan-16
Helps if you follow the track right around. Was thinking this will be over grown in time. Something prickly at GZ at the moment. Tftc

01-Jan-16
Didn’t actually need to go into bramble territory to find this. Would have made it easier on myself if I’d looked closer to the track initially. Consequently took a few minutes to find. #912. TFTC.

Spied the location from afar

I had some time spare before meeting the family at Orana Park later on this morning. Also it was time to have a bit of exercise.

Boxing day caching trip with the whanau! A lovely day for a nice stroll along, and plenty of caches around!!!

Great to finally tick these off - have been meaning to for quite a while actually! Clear them off the map, as I don't neccessarily want to be coming here for my one a day Razz haha.

Thanks for the hides Smile

Consec caching day # 1146

TFTC!! Smile

26-Dec-15
A nice walk with the whanau to find the caches along the paths here. Good day for it, sunny, not too hot. Great place to be on a day like this! Luckily there were fewer legs than logs, and the cache was soon in hand! TFTC!!

22-Nov-15
The bridge was not there last time - and of course the cache as well. So today explored the newly opened area. Quick find, TFTC

This was my second visit to Christchurch in as many weeks, a fortnight ago I flew down for the Mega event with my family in tow, this time I was down to attend a conference held at the school of Education. My wife generously agreed to allow me to stay an extra day (and night) to explore the city and do some Geocaching. I made the most of the opportunity and found just over a hundred caches during my visit.
I decided to start my big day with a nice long walk and this area fitted the bill. Its amazing how much planting has gone on here. There was a large pile of empty plastic pots only a few meters from the cache which suggested probably even more planting has occurred since this caches placement. While I was walking around I actually came across a group of 'volunteers' who were helping out at the far end of the reserve.

12-Nov-15
Tftc! What a lucky find - it wasn't hidden anymore upon arrival today, just lying in the bark. Who would expect it there???

23-Oct-15
Bit of Pre-Mega caching today. Thank you Kiwi864 for placing and maintaining this cache. Smile

22-Oct-15
I could not resist the detour over the rather expensive looking, totally out of place, bridge I saw Big Grin
Somebody has to use it !! [:o]

And after a wander down the side track for a while, I found an area of fresh tree and shrub plantings.
No doubt the work of the PO boys !!
I'm not sure what the PO stands for, but the previous cache finder knows all about them Smile

Planting Officers ?? Maybe Big Grin

Ah well, amidst the discarded piles of plant pots and crates, I soon had this cache in paw Big Grin

TFTC and stroll.

Ph put gz 4mtrs away but site spotted by eagle eyed hubby. Tftc Smile

03-Oct-15
Nice new bridge since I last rode down from Clearwater. Oh, and the two new caches are over it! Neat. As I rode toward GZ I passed the 'community workers' walking out, having completed their days work. Wink The supervisor warned me that the track was a little under water further up due to all the watering that they had done to the new native plantings. He was right.Surprised There were firehoses left lying on the ground near GZ. The workers had been watering on an industrial scale. Saturday mornings are probably not a good time to visit this cache and the others on the main track as van loads of gardeners are likely to be present tending thenew plantings. TFTC..

23-Sep-15
A trip down here at short notice to provide some assistance to a rep for a presentation to do, so another opportunity to collect a few caches in the area that will assist me with the DGSc Challenge that I feel I am working my way through so slowly.
So on arrival it was grab a car the evening before (good of work to cover the cost this time), finish the days work and begin on another hunt

This was the seventh of the evening (and the rain is holding off for the moment) and had the place all to myself, would be a great place for families in the summer. Nice change of pace along this part of the spur
Thanks for the chance of another smilie.
thanks for the placement and the fun of the chase

After a day on the bike I needed to get out and stretch the legs ticking off a few more of the COs caches while in the big city for a few days tftc

not being a local the actual location of this one had me head scratching for a while the private property signs didn't help the confusion. eventually headed in the right direction but didn't find it on my first look so headed to the end and managed to discover it on my way back nice hide tftc

28-Aug-15

13-Aug-15
The sun was shining and although it was a bit cool we decided that a walk by the lakes would be nice. There was no activities on the lakes but several people on bikes with dogs in tow rode past us. TFTC

08-Aug-15

FTF 9:20am
Late last night I noticed that it had started to snow outside. Cool. So, not too surprised to open the curtains this morning and see a couple cm of snow out on the lawn. Nice. Due to the rain none had settled on the footpath/drive/road. Excellent. Saw this new cache out on a cool wee walkway....and no online logs so far. Waited for Mrs TG to get home from her morning run up Rapaki track....then I packed up the bike hoping for a snowy bike adventure.....no such luck. No snow on the ground out this way. Parked up at the jet boat lakes and biked in. PD boys were having a break but I was just out of view of their 'hut' at GZ...a bit of a looksee and I found the nicely wee hidden cache. Cool we track extention. Several planes coming in overhead to land as well. Awesome. Bumped into the owners of the holiday park (jetboat lake end) walking their dog. They pointed out the flash wee bridge was recycled and had come from in town...they had talked to the PD supervisor - it's taken them 2 years to plant/build the path from the Lakes to Cearwater...and even with all that they have done they still have 3,000 plants to plant! - goodness knows where; maybe that's why they put in the bridge and the side extention to the track?! LOL. Lovely morning for a ride.

Mini milestone - 4,400th cache Smile
