An impromptu trip to the NT to help with a interstate relocation allowed me to collect some caches on the trip down, not many as this was a fast road trip. This was one that we stopped off at on our journey. Answers have been sent to CO. TFTC
Absolut super!
Brad and Janet are on an epic 6 week trip aiming to travel along the Canning Stock Route, the longest stock route in the world. 51 wells and crossing 4 deserts. We are traveling with a group of 11 vehicles on a tour led by Ron and Trent Moon. We have the geomobile towing the mini-geohouse on wheels. We have a couple of caches to put out if we find a good spot. We will grab what we can as we pass. We have finished the CSR part of the trip and are now headed home via Meekatharra, Sandstone, Leinster, Leonora, Laverton and the Great Central Road and Surveyor Generals Corner then across to the Stuart Highway. Then Curtin Springs with a zillion others. Almost no room even in the free camp area. This was one we collected the info along the way. Answers sent. Thanks very much for yet another EC
Leaving Alice today on our way to Yulara we did stop at the gap to take some photos and admire the rock formation. But not for too long - as it was really very chilly in the morning. Answers have been sent to the owner and hopefully all good. Thanks for showing and greetings from Germany.
Mrs. Amazing and I are on a three week trip in New Zealand and Australia as part of our bucket list. This is one of the geocaches we got along the way. It definitely gets a favorite point from me. Thanks so much for putting this one out as well as feeding my insatiable addiction!Mrs. Amazing sent the answers for us.
SM325 and I are on a bucket list trip to New Zealand and Australia. This is our first time here and we are having a blast. We traveled here from Ohio, USA. The scenery has been magnificent! We are here to take a ride on The Gahn. TFTF!
#17.582We reached Alice Springs today and had time to visit a few caches in the late afternoon. It was crazy hot (45C) and very tiring. Nevertheless, thank you for the information and for showing us round.TFTC
There is a lot of stons, rocks and cliffs in this part of the world. The advent of each of them arouses interest and breeds curiosity. Tftc and greetings from Sweden.
I can’t say I’ve ever done an EarthCache from a train before, but I guess there’s always a first.
I have driven through this gap a number of times in the past and today I was sitting on The Ghan as we rolled towards the station.
Once upon a time I lived and worked in the Alice but today I’m just a passing visitor. Perhaps I could come back for a holiday here one day.

It sure is an impressive entrance to town. Nice to actually venture into the gap to take a closer look at the rocks. TFTC
Visiting from Wisconsin, USA. I drove or was driven through the gap at least eight times during my short stay in Alice Springs and most of those times I spent trying to memorize the rock formations. Thanks for highlighting this interesting and scenic feature of the Alice Springs area with this earth science lesson. The gap became a very familiar landmark that I looked forward to seeing each time I approached it. Favorite.
A fairly iconic gap in my mind here in Alice, the gateway. So it was cool that we walked out in the dry riverbed to do this EC, such huge stunning Rock formations.
With GreyHams we set of for a short 24hour visit of Alice Springs. Certainly there is an element of crazy in only staying such a short time but what a great trip and place to visit, so worth it. I have been seeking the red outback dirt for a while now and for the past few opportunities have been greeted by lush greenery hiding that iconic red dirt! Still, it was stunning and I feel the green just made the scenery look more stunning highlighting the red rock formations. Loved the gorges, little waterways, dry creek beds and the chirpy little budgies at the gorges.
With temperatures forecast to be up around the low 40's it was a little culture shock! On arriving at the airport and collecting our reliable little SUV we hid in its lovely aircon and made the scenic drive out to Trephina Gorge. Perfect location and first stop... and the flies, SO many sticky little flies!
With a select number of caches on our list the gorges and stops on our way back into Alice highlighted the areas Geology and locations of interest as we cached our way back into town. Some short walks, fun little tracks and much variety in our list of types, LGA's, and DT among others.
After checking into our little villa, sorting out its aircon we set off for one of the little tracks that tested out our little car but carefully we made it through its eroded surface and water filled crossings. AL's, more EC's and some local about town caches gave us a good experience of being in this little town and I feel the caching showed us all we could see for the full experience.
The recent alcohol restrictions brought in we experienced first hand, all well organised and regulated. With the evening sorted it was onto Roberto's for the BEST pizza. Highly recommend the food and the friendly service offered to us and the locals while we were there, don't let the broken and boarded windows in the area put you off, it's worth trying.
The following morning we used to finish off the last of our list, with the multi, letterbox, WIG's and final AL's. The AL's took us to a little park where an invasion day rally was in place, a public holiday the streets were busy... the temperature 38C by 10am!
Many thanks to all the COs for your caches that led us on a great little trip of Alice and its highlights.

Aquilus1 & I are on a 24hr lightning visit to Alice Springs (or Mparntwe) just because it sounded interesting as well as grabbing a few of the LGA's in the middle of the country.
This time it was my crazy idea, but Aquilus1 was willing and able to do 'crazy' at short notice.
We got to the airport at an ungodly hour, and then two planes later we landed in Alice. We flew past half of Cathay Pacific's entire fleet during the landing....no rusting out here I guess!
We had a great day doing multiple gorges and 'gaps', driving on the old highway north to get some great D/T hides and various lab caches before heading in to the city.
We saw first hand the new takeaway alcohol rules as well as all the broken windows in town. The pizza place we went to (Roberto's Pizza) did the BEST PIZZA'S I have ever had....I am serious! It's a shame someone had smashed four of their windows, as they provided great service to us & all the locals that came in.
Thank god for air-con, as due to that I had a good night sleep. We slept in of course (due to me stuffing up the alarm and the long day we had previously), but it all worked out. We finished with the 'Heritage' labs which happened to be where the 'Invasion Day' protests were occurring.
We got every cache & lab we wanted, I feel we saw most (if not all) of the sights, we saw some cultural & political happenings..... what a way to spend 24 hours!!! Thanks to all the CO's for placing.

I collected the answers for this one a few weeks ago while in Alice Springs and have just gotten around to writing them up and logging this cache.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Alice Springs and the rocks at this gap are spectacular. It would be lovely to see the train passing through but unfortunately we didn't time right. This one is definitely worth a favourite point

We drove past this many times during the week that we stayed here and it was only on the last day that we noticed the earth cache. We had admired the gap and how amazing it is, and right in town! Answers sent to CO. TFTC
After seeing the local brewery came past and checked this out. Such a great history in these parts. TFTC.
Considering the temp, I was a little concerned that gz was in the middle of the river... however once I saw gz, I knew we could stay as warm as we already were! The little turmoils loved learning about the gap and were often pointing it out as we were at various points in Alice Springs.
Catching up on some late logs, now that I have time, while travelling.
We are on the road travelling up through central Australia and down the coast of WA. I hope to grab a few caches along the way.
While in town we stopped off and wandered into the great gap and grabbed the info needed for this cache. It is certainly an amazing place to experience. Answers sent to CO.

Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs
Any caches that needed repairs were fixed and numeous logs were replaced or added too.
Thanks to Darth Briji from mogni

Having driven through the gap a number of times by now, it was time to do the earth cache. Mogni has/will send the answers for us.
Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

My husband and i are on a 8000km plus geokms (which i think will add another 1000kms) from Brisbane to Uluru and back and today we left Uluru to come here to Alice springs. We have driven past this place a few times on this trip as we stayed at Alice for 2 nights on the way to Uluru and i really wanted to find this earth cache. What a beautiful spot this is. I hope the answers i sent are all ok. Im giving this a FP as it is amazing. Thankyou for taking us here .
Had to fill in some time before I could pick the geohounds up from the kennel so I visited this amazing site. Parked and walked from the Rotary Park. Answers sent to CO. TFTEC.

A geological anomaly that defies the mind's ability to understand basic laws of gravity & physics. What a special approach to Alice Springs for visitors from the airport or travelling on the Gahn. T4TC!!!
Thanks for bringing me to this special place as I walk around Alice Springs taking in the magnificent views.
Stopped by to check out this feature... Ended up going past quite a number of times this weekend.

Three weeks on the road for a family holiday to Alice Springs, Ayers Rock and Kings Canyon amongst other cool destinations had us traveling all over the place. We had a great time and the weather was extremely hot with bushfires that actually prevented us from going to some destinations.
Today we spent the day around Alice Springs.
Thanks for the Earthcache.

Easter 2020 was supposed to see South Australia Geocaching hosting the next Easter big MEGA event, GeoVenture 2020 at Millicent. GC82DAN. Due to COVID restrictions the event is now postponed to early October 2021. Check out the event page and our website for new details. We would love to see you at this four day event. Mega event sponsored by Wattle Range Council, Geocaching.com and many other supporters. Lots of caches to find with two classic geo art trails including the famous animated bottle and glass.

Having passed through this gap on numerous occasions during this trip (plane, train and automobile), Owl was able to gather the information in stages. Love these mountains.
We barely stopped in alice springs, which is a shame really, as i've always been curious about this isolated inland town. I'll definitely come back one day, i plan on doing the larapinta trail at some point..
So this was the only cache i managed to find in alice, huzzah!
An interesting canyon i am itching to explore more when time unencumbered.
Thanks for creating an earthcache around these interesting rocks!

Had a good look at the Gap from the plane before landing in ASP, then checked the cache on my way from the airport to Alice Springs, and checked on the Internet for the last question.

Phew what a hot day I chose walk out to this cache! It’s pretty hot out on those rocks, but nevertheless, I saw quite a lot of wallabies hanging out up around ground the edge of the dry river. Thanks for the cache - and for teaching me about the geology of the area! TFTC!

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was simply driving from Alice Springs to Yulara near Uluru.
On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Earth-Cache.
Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.
Thanks to 'Darth Briji' for showing us this location, for the fun we had with 'Heavitree Gap - EarthCache' and for the smiley. The search here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately.
Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest, prairie, desert or outback .

From october 16 to november 6 2019, my wife (lp.dk) and I visited Australia for the first time.
After a flight of more than 20 hours, we landed in Darwin. After 2 nights in the city we continued in a rented car first towards Kakadu National Park and later towards Alice Springs.
In Alice Springs we were picked up in an off-road bus and went on a 3-day trip into the wilderness, with overnight stays in a tent close to Uluru.
Back in Alice Springs we drove all the way to Adelaide, from where we flew to Sydney, where we visited our son who has settled there.
After 5 days in the city, we flew back to Singapore, which we visited for 2 days before the final flight back to Copenhagen.
In total, the trip lasted just over 3 weeks.
On the trip we would like to find / visit as many Earth caches, Virtual and Webcams as possible, but also the other kinds of caches when possible.

My first cache in Alice Springs and a good one to start off with. I am impressed with the mountain range as the rocks genuinely look older than other mountain ranges I have observed. I walked here from my hotel as the heat wasn't too intense today. Answers sent. Thanks for setting this earth cache.
The Red Centre was our 3rd stop on our 2-week tour of Australia from Chicago, and we stopped here before road-tripping from Alice Springs to Kings Canyon today. Thanks for showing us this very cool spot, and for putting this awesome Earthcache together! Mahalo for adding to the fun! TFTC!!
Its our first visit to 'the Alice' and we thought Heavitree Gap was a pretty spectacular gateway to the city. The town planners got this one right.
Another find clocked up on our Big Trek to Uluru and Alice Springs. TFTC

Last cache for the day and also my 900th find!. Managed to drive up the dirt track and park pretty close to GZ. TFTC, very interesting area!
We were staying in Alice Springs for a few days with friends, caching and attending an event. This is an impressive land mark. Thanks for the cache Darth Briji.
It’s heavy. It’s a gap. It’s quite stunning and striking though. Specially when you take your eyes off the road for just a little too long, completing this earthcache. No vehicles, or lives were lost in the answering of these questions! Thanks for placing the cache Darth Briji.
I love this natural gateway into Alice Springs, it must be amazing to see for the Ghan. Thanks for the hide.
I visited this Earthcache with finderus on our four-week journey through part of Australia. We had wonderful days full of great impressions and saw many beautiful places.
Thanks to the owners for showing, for working out the caches and the tasks.
Greetings from Dresden in Germany by barbarine.

This is such a beautiful spot in Alice. The gateway.
It would be amazing to see water in the Todd rover or even rain on the rocks.
We have camped nearby with 2beez and driven past every day.
A FP added for such an iconic location.
Answers submitted.
Thanks Darth Briji.

Great spot, what a beautiful area, definitely a favourite

Wow. This really made us look at the gap and found out alot of the history. Thank you. Loved it. Grandkids and daughter learnt alot too.
I guess the stop near here was to await a train that never arrived. Somebody said we had the wrong day. Oh well. I know that this is a very significant opening into Alice Springs but I always feel disappointed coming here, But that is possibly due to it coinciding with an arrival back in civilisation. Interesting finding out some more of this area.

After spending four days travelling up on my own from Adelaide, I met up with FeatherWaite in Alice Springs for a few days of travelling around and caching.
We visited various places in the West Macdonnells, including Hugh Gorge, then went out to Kings Canyon, up the Finke Gorge track to Hermannsburg, into Palm Valley, then back to Adelaide, taking a week in all. We saw, and camped in some fantastic places, although the late September weather was a little warm!
We visited this earthcache as we began our homeward journey back to Adelaide.
Thanks Darth Briji for an interesting cache.

Flew up to Alice Springs for a conference, then met up with e.gregory1 for an epic road trip through the West MacDonnell Ranges, Mereenie Loop Rd, Kings Canyon, Luritja Rd, Ernest Giles Rd, Finke Gorge NP, Hermannsberg, Larapinta Drive, back to the Alice then down the Stuart Hwy to Adelaide, with awesome sights and great caches along the way. Thanks for the informative, scenic and entertaining Earthcache Darth Briji!

First earthcache of the day, answers sent to co. Love the local area, thanks for creating this earth cache.
On our way through Australia Clematius and I visited a lot of very interesting places. We spent quite some time on Earthcaches but we found some traditional caches, too. Thanks to all owners for showing unique places and for teaching interesting lessons.
First day in Alice Springs. ElizaBennet and I had a look at some interesting places. Thanks a lot for showing to Darth Briji.
Have forwarded answers now logging as a find
Have walked down this river bed a previous trip and have seen it when water has flowed

As we are still in Alice Springs we have done a few EarthCaches and
this is another one. Heavitree Gap is beautiful and each time we visit
here we are amazed at the beauty of the Ranges. A must place to
visit. Answers sent to the CO and hope we pass the test.
Thanks heaps Darth Briji for another great EC.

Staying overnight in Alice on my way to a mine site, I took the opportunity to find a few geocaches in the area and visit the town and its surroundings.
This is a really spectacular spot and I walked along the Todd River to get up close for a better look. Answers sent to the CO. Thank you for a great EarthCache Darth Briji, a favourite!

Our first stop in Alice Springs fresh off the plane from Sydney after an absence of 15 years. We told our taxi driver that we wanted to have a look at the Gap and he kindly pulled up a few hundred metres in front of it. But not close enough to see what we needed to see. So we asked him to drive through slowly which he also very kindly did. This is such a distinctive formation and we noticed from the sky how it stands out. You could almost drop a drawbridge in like an old castle and welcome visitors through the gate. We have sent our response to the CO. Many thanks. TFTEC Cheers... Gaztek
We were in Alice Springs for a few days and we had this Earth Cache earmarked to do. Today while travelling through the area we inspected the rock wall and answered the required questions. It’s amazing how this has formed the way it has and how the town has used it as its entrance.
Thank you Darth Briji for basing an Earth Cache on this, it was very interesting and we really enjoyed it.
We're giving it a favourite point because it was a cool spot!

Thanks for placing this earth cache. I am amazed by the amount of beautiful places in alice springs. This is just one of many of them. Hopefully my answers are good enough. I am not good at trying to describe rock textures etc. After stopping at this earthcache site I drove out towards the airport side of town and snapped this picture of the gahn.
Walked here and had a look. Interesting formation and astonishing to see all the things that run through the gap. Thank you for showing us this site and making us think about it.
Found this one today while waiting for the Ghan to come through the gap. My wife and myself chatted about the formation and submitted our answers to the CO who gave us the green light to log. Many thanks Darth Briji for the Earth Cache, another one of several EC we completed while in Alice.
There are some things to see in Alice Springs. The old Telegraph Station and the Centrale of the royal Flyind doctors. Especially liked and the Panorama Guth.
The trips to Ayers Rock and the Olgas certainly also a special highlight. We love Australia....

Driven over from perth WA to visit Alice Springs and to find some of the local caches whilst here. Lots of muggles around but still managed to find all the caches we were looking for. Thanks To all the CO,S for placing these caches for us to find.
Last night we camped in the middle of nowhere. It reminded me a bit of backpacking trips taken in the mountains close to home. We went for up to a week, living with only what could be carried in your backpack. This experience was a bit easier as we had a vehicle with supplies.
Today was another day of visiting some more remote sites and doing the related earthcaches.
I started my travels with micaparamedic in Canada and the US in late July, seeing the Yukon and Northwest Territories, attending the Mega APE event, and camping in Oregon to be in the direct path of a total solar eclipse. There were other day trips to find special caches and see geologically related spots of interest.
Now he is showing me his country, and it's an incredible journey. My bucket list had included walking around Uluru, and now I can cross that off. I also wanted to see some Australian outback, and that is also crossed off. There are a few more things planned on this journey that will be crossed off as well. Dreams are coming true.
Thanks for this earthcache - my favorite kind to visit. I may not fully understand everything, but I do appreciate it and learn more with each one I visit.

"Found" this cache and forwarded answers to the owners today August 27th. Claiming the find hopefull they will be approved. TFTC and drawing our attention to how this was formed and the incredibly long period of time taken to create what we see today. It is always a bit if a thrill when we drive through this grand entrance to Alice!
After a very loooooong flight from Germany and hundred of miles on dusty, but empty roads, BendixTotti and I finally reached the middle of Australia, Alice Springs, where we stayed two days. Of course, for geocachers like us it's a duty to make at least one cache in this beautiful country, where the weather even in wintertime is much better than in Germany during summer. So we decided to go for this fine earth cache. Great location, which earns a favorite point.
Thank you for the cache and best wishes from Germany to 'Darth Briji'.

On our tour through Australia to Cairns we spent 2 days at Alice Springs.
There was time for this earth cache. What a great nature it is here.
And the weather! Back home it is "summer" but it is raining cats and dogs nearly every day at shivering temperatures.
Thank you for the cache and best wishes to Darth Briji.
