It was my second visit here, and I had a feeling where the cache was. Although the area has many branches added to the ground after recent storms, the cache remains easily accessible. The extra natural camo makes it easier to find as there are fewer spots to check! At GZ, I paused my walk tracker, expecting to be here for a long time, but I found the cache in the first place I checked. I guess I didn't look hard enough on my last visit or have enough confidence in my coordinates being correct.**Cache Health Check:** The cache is in excellent condition.

In Melbourne today to do some well overdue caching in Lysterfield as we have mint visited here since before covid! As we were knocking off some of the NHL series we got the opportunity to work through this multi. A straightforward task that led to the cache which is in good condition.
Thanks Muzza for the multi placement.

Out for a walk and to seek out a cache or two this morning
Searched for a long time before calling on Muzza to confirm I had GZ coordinates correct
Speedy response to request received that all was good, another long search, to no avail
Hopefully the cache is there and just playing tricks on me

Disappointed but not all was lost, I had a great walk at least!
Many thanx to Muzza for keeping this one alive for so long and the speedy response to my call for help
I've put a watch on it so hopefully the next seeker has more luck

Found it! Muggle Heather and I enjoyed a walk through the park today. We were close to the posted coordinates so decided to collect the clues. We found the first clue easily enough and enjoyed collecting the rest of the clues. Once the required information was gathered, we sat on a log and did the math. Our final coordinates were a bit of a walk away and we decided to take a very direct route and cut across country. Once at GZ it took a while to find the cache and I eventually found it right where I had put my backpack down! Yay! No it was time to walk back to the car. TFTC SL. The cache is in great condition. I’ve been wanting to find this cache since I first started caching so I was pleased to find it today!

Phew got there in the end. 5 attempts in and around GZ. Started to doubt my calculations so went back through right from the start again, retracing every thing. Definitely over thought it and ended up with 3 options, all within 50 m. Even ended up looking around the nearby honestly ruins too. Anyways it was where I thought it was, I just didn’t look hard enough. Thanks for the cache and the chance to learn more about the area.

The weather this week continues to be amazing and so today I decided to make the most of it. It was finally time to finish off the NHL series I had started over a year ago and gather some other nearby caches.

I had almost completed the NHL loop and dropped down to take a look at this multi. A nice stroll through the area came up with all the information I needed.

Imagine my frustration when I soon discovered it was all the way back on the other side where I had already been earlier this morning.

I considered leaving it for another day, but decided another walk wouldn’t hurt and eventually had the final
In hand.

Thanks Muzza for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

This ended up being a real adventure.

At the posted coordinates there was a gang of mountain bike riders taking turns down a goat track at full speed. Nuts.

Having found the starting point we collected the information needed along the way to the dairy. A really interesting spot. Funny how these wells keep popping up out of nowhere. I see them often now that I know what they are. Ha.

Somehow one of our numbers got lost in translation and CO help was called for today to save me an embarrassing 200 meter bush bash. So glad I did. Thanks Muzza.

A second mob of Roos saw me scoot uphill to the real GZ. Another interesting spot.

After all of the rain yesterday the tracks were slippery and waterlogged in the valleys.
All this added to a great adventure in a park I’m getting more and more familiar with.

Glad to have found this old timer here today.
Fav added.

#829

We were in the area picking up some other solved puzzles when we realised we could do this one, but in reverse. It all worked to plan until we got to WP1, which we had to access via the MTB path. We only saw the other access path on our way out, a usual occurrence. We think the previous finder was referring to maintenance on the clue at WP1 (and not GZ), because although legible, the pieces of paper have deteriorated so that they are just crumbly bits of paper. Unfortunately we couldn’t take a snapshot as the MTBers were getting curious as to what we were up to. We got the numbers for **aaa** though.

Very informative multi and when we thought about the Great War decimating those that served, we understood why this project had to take place. Wonderful spot for the boys.

This was the 7th of 9 finds overall today with no DNFs. Thanks Muzza for maintaining this vintage cache and for the shiny new log book! Cache on

**The Cache:** Well-maintained, double-bagged, good to go. **TNLNSL**

Hand sanitiser was used before and after accessing the cache.

Went to replace the sodden log book, only to find it nice and dry and nicely sealed in a ziplock bag, in a nice and dry cache container. Anyway, having come prepared, I replaced the log book with a new notebook in a separate ziplock bag. Should stay dry for sure.

Yes, finally I can tick this old geocache off my list and another month crossed off.

I first did the rest of the multicache part of this cache years ago, however when I determined the final, I had already come from that direction and didn't have time to head back. Every other time I've come to the Lysterfield Lake area, I've either run out of time, or not come to this area. But today, this was the geocache that I was heading to Lysterfield Lake to find. At GZ, I failed to find it a few times, because I kept looking from the wrong angle. But sign the old log book I did.

Thanks for the cache Muzza

Out and about doing some of the NHL series so took the opportunity to sign this one whilst we were in the area. Thanks for the cache.

So pleased that we got to do this old cache whilst in the area. Thank you for the cache and thank you for maintaining it for so long.

Nice day for a new mission - time to chase down some vintage caches and LLL fits the description nicely. Lysterfield never disappoints and on a sunny day it was a pleasant jaunt on the deadly treadly and a quicker way to cover a few kms. Info of course soooo interesting. TFTC

I got far too many hours into the new year without going outside, but finally dragged myself away a little after 4pm. Interesting history of the farm here - with so many gum trees now it's hard to imagine it as a farm, I find.

Then after calculating GZ, I walked over to the lake to have a look (could hear a lot of noise from the main picnic area floating softly over the lake), then went to try to find a different cache, before coming back to my car via GZ. GZ seemed to have everything prickly - thistles, more thistles, grass seeds, spiders, etc. but I located the cache in a few minutes with the help of the clue. I'm taller than the clue indicates but that didn't stop me finding it.

Thanks for the cache - a nice walk around the park, especially nice as evening drew on on the way back and the roos and wallabies were all out.

27-Sep-19
Collected the info from the 5 waypoints a couple of weeks ago. Didn't have the time then to make it to GZ. Found the container this morning whilst on a walk through a different section of the park. In good condition.

This one has been on my to-do list for a while, but with two geobubs and so little time I haven't been brave enough to go out to grab it fearing the terrain of taking a pram through the bush. After today I feel completely justified in that fear. Geobro was keen to get out into nature and enjoyed a spot of kangaroo and bird spotting (honeyeater, eastern rosella, crimson rosella, blue fairy wren, magpie, kookaburra and countless others we didn't know the names of).

WP1 was an absolute delight! What a special place - it felt magical. WP2 was easy to find, but WP3, WP4 and WP5 had us completely undone with the pram. We carried that thing with geobub sitting in it like a prince over countless logs and fallen branches, around large holes in the ground and we lost the track I don't know how many times. We also discovered some amazing groves of lilies in full bloom (heaven).

Finally we had all the information required and I made some quick calcs - hmmm, don't like the sound of that! So I checked again and got the same result. So I checked the logs and finally decided it was right. Off we went to GZ via the car and ended up down a "private road" and about twenty no standing signs - I suspect some local went a bit crazy at the sign shop - I've never seen a local council implement so much signage.

GZ was an easy find and geobro took the honours which he was pretty pleased about. We grabbed the TB and headed home for more animal spotting. Thanks Muzza for such a lovely day. We'll definitely be back here withe the whole brood.

As much as we think we have explored so much of this park, tonight we realised how much more there still is to see. This was the last cache on Crustyvarmints list, and although we were all getting a little tired from the hours we had walked, we were keen to learn of the experiences of the boys on this farm. Crusty and heymissjo had collected the first clue at WP1, so we continued on from that point.

It was a fascinating experience, especially with a full moon, the sounds of frogs, lots of kangaroos and the beautiful plant life. We took our time, reading the information signs and taking in our surroundings, then headed off to GZ. After puffing our way up the steep hill, we made a nice quick find and signed the log. Now the long walk back to the car:)

As Crusty mentioned, we too will come back in the daylight for another look.

Thanks for a brilliant multi Muzza. We all had an absolute ball and a favourite from us.

13-Sep-19
I had started this a short time back while out with heymissjo doing a nearby night cache. As we needed to go in different directions for each cache, we left this one for another time. Tonight was that time. With my muggle neighbour and Team Knight_shift, we took the walk and enjoyed discovering some of the history of the area. We need to return in daylight to really see what we have walked through. Thanks for bringing us here, and teaching us some of the history, Muzza.

This 7-day-streak souvenir thing Groundspeak announced over the weekend leaves me with mixed feelings. I like souvenirs, but not having to cache because I feel compelled to by the campaign. I could just leave my finds for a suitable day, but then, no shiny pixel art...
Then there is the issue of bush versus city/suburbs. I have many local caches still to be found, but that means having to contend with muggles. A much longer drive to hassle-free woodlands each day because I have to doesn't sound feasible.
Well, of course I want that souvenir. Fortunately today I had an opportunity to go out to some bushland around Lysterfield Lake, so I could kill 2 birds with one stone - maintain the 3-day streak-so-far, while actually enjoying the caching!

We followed the tracks finding traces of farming, almost like looking through Italian ruins. We wondered if some of these flowers and lillies around here, which are not typical bush flowers, are survivors from those farming days. Like the South African boneseed very evident a couple of kilometres east which was introduced as a decorative plant in the 1850s and is now starving out the indigenous flora.
Finally around GZ I completely missed the cache when once again Snoopy shouted out "You walked right past it - I can see it even from here!"
Clearly she's more in tune than I am today.
Thanks, Muzza. A FP from me for this classic multi highlighting the history here which would otherwise be overlooked.

What a great little walk this was. Not sure why we missed this as we have done all those around it. Great history, we really enjoyed it!

The hint was not correct. It has been hidden in a very small container under a rock, but at the correct location.

This cache has been on my list of local ones I wanted to do for a long time now but our caching has been limited to mostly drive bus for a long while now. This year I’m trying to get out and find more, with a focus on older caches before they disappear.

Last year we introduced a friend of my sister in law to Geocaching and she loved it, they even came to the last mega with us. Today, they both joined Geodaughter and I on this mini adventure.

It was quite warm and very smokey due to the bushfires still burning but we headed out and worked our way through the waypoints, enjoying the history, a few kangaroos and stopping for a quick lunch along the way. After a minor hiccup with one of the sets of numbers, we soon had a set of coordinates that seemed good and headed to GZ.

By now we were tiring a bit and sister in law’s knee was playing up, but we finally made it after going cross country to save time and found the cache in great condition right were it was supposed to be. The walk back was tougher as we were all very tired now but we made it to the cars....just

Our stats - 3hrs and nearly 8kms walked, not sure if we took the scenic route or parked at the wrong spot, but we all had a wonderful time, even my sister in law who’s not keen on Geocaching or nature LOL

Thanks Muzza for putting this one together and maintaining it, it’s a testament to the quality of the old caches

Out this way with Happy pants and omegaman1971 with our bikes, collecting the last of this NHL puzzle series. Took the opportunity to also grab anything else we came across, along the way. There was heaps of muggles and wildlife about, along the trails. We had no DNF's and made some good discoveries and clever hides during the day. We had some fun and laughs along the way, then even ended the day, with a bit of drama.

The work had been done previously for this, so it as just a matter of making the find, while back in the area, which was found after only a short search.

Thanks Muzza for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

The first log book with the clue was wet and hard to read, great area to walk through though. I found the clues to the final and after more than a couple of months I finally got to the end and found it. Previously having tried to find it and my coordinates were 100m off.

01-Jul-18
Wow what a great adventure! I begun this journey a few months ago whilst doing the NHL series, and stood in awe at WP1 - amazing location I could have sat there all day it was so peaceful! I continued my journey and tried to follow the path but it has mostly grown over but that didnt matter as the waypoints were clear and I was happy to go cross country. Collected all the required info and got my coords and.....wait.....thats a long walk from here that cant be right the description says close to the original location???? But then I realised it must be close to the original location of the boys home - I thought it meant close to WP1! So I left the find for another day. Today was that day and I had a nice find at GZ. Thanks Muzza for the adventure, loved it! TFTC!

Dad and teen were in the park a week ago, grabbed the clues to calculate GZ but needed to head home.

Fast forward a week and we dropped down to Lysterfield Lake to sign three logbooks.

Our evening started with abject failure. Transposed the wrong MINUTE for an Adriaan cache and spent an inordinate amount of time looking in the wrong place, before discovering our mistake - just as the heavens opened up.

This had us 1.5kms from the car and so we trudged to LLl, and we were very pleased to discover that we DID have the correct coordinates. Signed log as best we could and tried to keep the logbook dry-ish.

We were very wet by the time we emerged back at the car, two finds and we will need to return for #3. TFTC and our adventures

Find number 6578 at 2:19:25 pm
Out on a mission this afternoon to find a couple of old (historical) caches and this one certainly measures up Wink
Yeah, I can finally sign this one off. Parked nearby (sort of) and wandered in with MuggleWifeDoes on this pleasant afternoon.
Initially I searched the GZ without using the gps to see whether I might have found it yesterday, maybe, I searched the exact hiding spot but not thoroughly enough. When I went around again with the iPhone on I had the prize in hand quickly. And to think, I was actually closer than 400 meters yesterday.
The journey makes it that much more memorable. Wink

Sadly not today, again, did not find at about 3:30 pm
Been working all day at home in the office and just had to get out for some fresh air, bugger the cold, bugger the wind, bugger the rain, I'm goin walkin...
Well, this time I had no problems finding the container at WP1 and so I was off and running (walking really but that's how the saying goes), gathering clues as I went. A great location for a multi with an interesting historical story.
Now that I finally have a GZ to head to I headed bush on a short cut and got to about 400 meters from the prize when beep, beeeep, beeeeeeeeep, my phone battery goes flat... Sad Nooooooooo......
Ah well, another day it is, an 8 km round trip and still missing that smilie Wink

Finally reached GZ and of course studied the wrong head height. Moved around a bit and soon spotted what I wanted and signed in. An interesting multi thank you.

I had done the leg work (or more accurately bike work) for this one a couple of months back and fortunately had the solved coordinates saved. I was back in the area today providing support to a team of cachers on the Oxfam Trailwalker event. There was some time before I was due at the next checkpoint so I was able to head to this part of the park and pick off four caches that I hadn’t previously found. This was my first stop and after a short walk I was able to make the find in a likely spot here. Nicely out of my eyeline but a quick grab nonetheless. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the multi cache muzza. I appreciated finding this older multi at last as it ticked a box on the Jasmer/Ausmer grid for me.

04-Mar-18
This was my target for today, as it would fill a missing hidden month, so quickly got to the start WP, found a all the necessary clues along the way, someone had even nicely highlighted the track with ribbons for me. Got to the final clue, did a quick calculation, and thought no that can't be right, so redid the calcs a couple of times and it was right. So headed of to gz picking up a couple of other caches along the way. Thanks for the history lesson and the walk.
Note to CO, all the signs have being updated and are now readable, so you can remove the answer from the cache page if you like.

11-Jan-18
After a busy evening of 22 finds in Lysterfield Lake Park I thought I would give this one a go. A few of the signs were hard to read but it was very interesting to follow the historic trail. After a bit of correspondence with the CO I have the information I need for next time.

Not a great start to the new year with no find. Great walk though.

19-Jul-17

Out tonight with Trailstevo finding the only NHL we have solved, 5 to go I think, Kiwi pride, and LLL. Hiked around 10km, not helped by a Msp caculation by me on the coordinates. plenty of Roos out and the rain kept away. TFTC

18-Jul-17
Trying to do this one and night walk 3 simultaneously but the orange lights seemed to dry up on that one. Found the waypoints required but seemed to make our own paths to each one in the dark. The final destination looked a little odd so did some scrambling through bushes before getting stuck. A review of the calculations revealed we were about 100m off. The revised gz made a lot more sense and the cache was quickly found. Tftc

Find #1174
This cache really has been a work in progress. I can't actually remember when I went through the way points, though I do remember walking through as the light was fading and I was a little worried about finding my out off the track. I do also remember thinking it looked a bit 'snakey' so must have been a while ago! When I got the coordinates for GZ I was worried I had made a mistake - though having read previous logs it was clear I hadn't.

Today I was at a loose end so I headed to Lysterfield to see if I could find this cache. It was a cracking walk and I hardly saw anyone, but I did see a lot of kangaroos. It was good to find the cache and put another smilie on the map. TFTC!

08-Jul-17
After doing the waypoints months ago had an hour free so decided to finally finish this cache. Lots of fun. Final cache was alluding us until we checked the hint then found straight away. Some clues are getting very hard to figure out due to fading signs etc. Tftc

zzzzz... geocaching ...zzzzzz... LLL ...zzzzzzzz"WAKE UP"...zzz- hang on, that doesn't fit! Awake after a dream of Geocaching and finding LLL (at last) clancy79 is determined to do just that. So when my two geocaching-hating (how could they!?) sisters have to go take the pet bird to the vet we jump at the opportunity, into the car, wait; what's that light on the dashboard? We quickly find the manual and look it up. "Let's see... ah here we go; oh great, it means we have to drive on the freeway until the light turns off". We go, mainly because the geoCar might not work properly if we don't do this and after a long while it finally does turn off. The rush starts, off the freeway, onto the main road, u turn, more action. Hang on, what's this? We had finally got to the entrances to the cache, it was a different one to the one we originally went to when doing the waypoints a few months back, only this time it said 'PRIVATE ROAD: RESIDENTS ONLY' great. We decide to risk it, clancy79 thinks it's going to rain, it probably is (but hey let's think positive!). We get to the cache location, google maps keeps crashing, it's no use to us now, we get out GPS Status hoping we can match the coordinates that have been sitting in my notebook since we did the waypoints with the ones on the screen. Closer, closer, right on! We scramble everywhere searching for the cache. There's a log right at our feet, but the cache isn't there . We were above to give up when clancy79 goes "hey, what about the hint?" He quickly checks his phone, it starts to rain, he finds the hint and yells it out to me. We both go "there" at the same time and the cache is found in no time. TFTC.

A tragedy has befallen geocaching today. It marks the demise of the 'Movable Cache' type. There were only 4 left in Australia. Luckily, I'd learned of this quirky cache type in my brief geocaching journey and had managed to snare 3 of them. But the last, Traffic Control #1, will now eternally elude me. I think it's so sad to not only lose a whole cache type, but also caches of their age are getting rarer. Ausmer challenges get more difficult all the time.
So I decided to pay tribute to that one final Movable that I couldn't claim by coming here.
"Why?", you might ask. Because they were both published in the same month 15 years ago, way back in June 2002...
The longevity of this cache provides a context for the Movable that has just been consigned to history.

So I came to Lysterfield on a perfectly mild autumn afternoon. But en route to the start of 'LLL', I was soon distracted by a night cache I was passing. It looked terribly close to a recent controlled burn, so I went to investigate... and ended up doing the night cache in the daylight, lol. But by the time I was done there, the day had slipped away and become night. Hmm... something went wrong there - I did the night cache multi in the day, and am now left to do the regular multi at night.
Oh yes! So contrarily Welderesque!!

Brilliant starting point. Even at night, I could feel the view. From here, I could see that a number of mountain bike lights were weaving through the woods tonight.
The Boys Farm Heritage Trail was great fun. So overgrown. So neglected. So seemingly forgotten... The remains of the old structures gave an otherworldly feel in the torchlight. Very cool.
Just me and the kangaroos.
And the mountain bikes.
I tried to force the maths of the missing info from a sign, but it was no good. No choice but to PAF for the size of the living/dining room dimensions.
With that info plugged in, some coordinates were spat out.
Oh!
Lucky I wasn't on a deadline, lol.
Once back out on the track, I switched the torch off and enjoyed the walk through the woods by starlight. Very peaceful.
The coordinates were great and the find was made quickly. I like those hides, and it's a good sized container too! Dropped off a TB I picked up at the night cache earlier and gladly added my name to the log.
I walked back by starlight too, which made me wonder about the rapid lightning show I could see to the south... yes, there were still stars above me. Strange.
But a change was indeed coming in, and it hit when I had 150m to go to the car. There was rain. A lot of rain!!
But my night wasn't over... a quick dinner stop, and then on to Mt Dandenong!!

Thanks so much, muzza. The hardships and history of the farm during the depression really sink in when you can actually see the structures and locations. Very much appreciated. It was a great multi and a perfect way to pay my respects to the demise of Australian Movables.

Here in the company of GJMMelb and quiet1_au. Final find for the day. The information signs have unfortunately deteriorated so we struggled to retrieve all information required. A quick call to the cache owner helped finalise the GZ calculation. Once at GZ, it was an easy find where I pointed at the location and G took the cache. TFTC, and for the history around this place, Muzza! (and for your help on the phone)

Quiet1_au, Lochb and I were in the area on the hunt for some puzzles we had solved. Q had already found this cache and helped us along, finding the fist clue. We went along the interesting locations picking up the clues. Unfortunately the signs have been badly damaged and are unreadable in places. At the last location we realized we did not have enough information so we contacted the CO who provided the co-ords we needed. Much later, after finding a number of other caches in the area we came back close to where we started. L spotted a likely spot and I extracted the cache. Thanks Muzza

Out with omegaman1971 this afternoon making the most of a few hours to fill in and the chance to come back out to this fantastic part of the world and work on cleaning up a few out standing caches in the area. With a spring in our step, partly to keep moving on this rather chilly day and the also being mindful of the daylight that fast disappears during this time of the year. We set off and gathered the required information from a few interesting way points that l never knew existed before, the things you come across caching eh? mighty glad also l wasn't around when this area was in use. With our final numbers worked out it was a case of making our way to the gz and it was omegaman that managed to make the find. Thanks Muzza for the walk, the cache and the bit of local history of this area and the boys farm.

We got a good walk around the park . Checked out the Boys Farm and scared a few Roos. Thanx for this old cache.

After a bit of searching we found it. Great day out with the kids searching for and finding all the clues. We've put some better prizes in the box as well.

*6/08/2016, Found @ 1:48 PM, Find # 5543.*

I started this one yesterday as I headed out on this one before meeting up with biggles1024 so that we could work on a nearby night cache.
I had heard of the name Boy's Farm but I didn't know anything about it until now.
I now know what was going on 60 - 80 years ago, its very interesting seeing the bit and pieces of yesteryear.
I made my way through the waypoints, gathering the information that was needed, the signs along the way are starting to deteriorate but at the moment the information is still available.
I worked out GZ but decided to leave it for later on as it was now starting to get dark and I had to meet up with Mark to continue our other mission.
I returned today on this nice winters day and headed for GZ , once there I had a bit of a look around the area and then for the cache which was found quickly, the log was signed, the cache replaced then I went and tried out some of the mountain bike trails.

**Thanks to Muzza for placing this cache.**

Stroll through the bush where boys were cultivated? The Church of England Boys' Society Training Farm was established here in around 1937. It would have been hard times for those lads back in those days, but a beautiful area to learn at trade in husbandry.

Thanks again Muzza

Thanks for the 'Boys Farm' tour.
Some interesting relics.
Thanks Muzza.

Since a trip to Mt Buller didn't seem likely, the plan was hatched earlier in the day, for the crew to assemble near the summit of Mt Wellington Wink
With one mode of transport abandoned just over the top, we all loaded into the bus for the trip to our nearest point of departure.
From here on in Shanks Pony delivered us to each point of interest.
A couple of Orange lights and a few Blue ones to guide the 2016 Tour De Lyst.
Exploring with Ruverbug_Jam, taking notes and photographs, who may also be a Lark. [^]
Our journey back in time would take us through the historic selection where boys were once farmed. We noted many relics from a long gone era. Smile
Bless those Farmers for they taught us how to think for ourselves.
Thanks for the walk in the park, Muzza.

Out with n0w0rries doing a Lysterfield night walk and n0w0rries suggested adding LLL to our mission. And I'm certainly glad he did. It was a walking history lesson of the area, which previous to last night I knew nothing about. We mused about the goings on in times gone by, the hardiness of the people and the structures they created in times and places where such feats were not easily achieved. We marveled at the caches history and were impressed at the CO's ability to keep it active for such an extended period.

BE WARNED! I attempted to get to the starting point at around lunchtime today, but was unable to reach it, due to the swarm/hive of native bees in the tree nearby. Hundreds upon hundreds of the things. I will try again another day. Smile

I really enjoyed this one. Had no idea about Boys Town and the terrain here, with obligatory kangaroos, is pretty much always pleasing for a walk. Though I didn't anticipate *quite* so long a walk to GZ. Part of me wanted to double-check my calculations given the relatively high cost of marching that far in error, but getting to GZ and still being ever-so-slightly surprised that one *didn't* muck it up is one of the best things about multis, I think. Smile This sort of late afternoon communing with nature with a touch of archeology thrown in is likely the kind of thing I subconsciously hoped geocaching was all about when I signed up. Thanks a lot Muzza!

Another great old cache! Judging by the overgrowth, this cache is probably keeping the old boys farm site alive. Thanks for bringing us through here, the kids enjoyed all the old relics. Tftc

During our holidays spent in Australia we decided to visit Dandenong Ranges as we love it there Smile This one was a tough one as we were not sure that the final coordinates we have counted are correct because it was almost 1,5km far. Thus at the end of our trip we made a looong bypass to this cache. There were lot of kangaroos eating the grass near the cache thus we really enjoyed it. But we were not able to find the cache, we almost gave up desperate that our coordinates are not correct but at the end we found it! Greetings from Czech Republic. TFTC!

Had a wonderful afternoon doing this cache with my eldest daughter. Thanks again Muzza for another great cache. The number of "activities" on the sign threw us for a bit at the end during calculations but we eventually got there. On the way we saw some kangaroos, some wallabies, an echidna, some rosellas, even a blue tongue lizard curled up under a fallen branch a meter from GZ!

24-Nov-15
While in the area to day doing some other caches we realised we would be close to this one so embarked on finding the way points. Interesting bit of history and with the information all gathered we did double check ourselves for the final location. Well at least we had another find to pick up on the way. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC

Found It!
I was walking the waypoints for this one so I figured I had better write down the answers. I tried to relocate the car closer to GZ instead of walking all the way there but in the end I don't think I saved much walking distance at all. A nice park and some interesting history!

This ended up being a two parter. I went through the clues a fortnight ago, but it was getting dark when I got to GZ, so I had to keep going after a brief search. Came back and found the new container and log book.
I probably wouldn't have found the remains of the Boys Farm without the waypoints, the path is almost unfindably overgrown. Interesting to look through though, I'm glad I was able to find it. TFTC.

Called by today with a new 1 litre Sistema container to replace the current broken one. Only problem was, while the two containers were the same capacity, they had different dimensions, and the old log book didn't fit in the new one. Fortunately, I was able to pull a whole section from it and secure it with a bulldog clip. So all is good to go.

On another of those work days that you would rather forget OzHockeyChick and I decided we would get out for some fresh air and a walk in the nearby listerfield hills and grab this multi. We have had it on our list for quite a while and today was the day.
Nice and early we hit the start point and began i little walk.....
Deeper into the hills we found ourselves ....mingling with the ever so tame kangaroos which we were surprised on how close they were letting us get. Joey season and all....
Well the clues at the start were easy enough to gather and the points of interest (wp's) were really interesting . Who would of thought that this area was so alive once with resident boys and teachers .
This was fascinating to me reading about the history of the area and the waypoints were just leading us more and more into historical landmarks and the evidence of the past was still very dominant with some old pics on the signs as proof of authenticity. Kind of sad to think that the area is just a park now and not a booming place of learning and life. The final co-ords calculated and the history still fresh in minds and the trail was calculated to head to the final for the logbook sign and the daylight was the only thing fighting us. The nature of this place and the territory around us is amazing and very peaceful.
The hike up the final hill, not so peaceful but in my midst of hockey finals , appreciated fitness boost, and soon enough the find was made. The container is definantly past it's use by date.
Thank you for this awesome cache Muzza and i have chose quite a few respected Cache Owners for all my milestone achievements in my so far short career in Geocaching and this one i have chosen for my 900th cache. So thanks again and a fav point from me for the awesome piece of history and the great little hike.

After spending the day in the office, I decided I needed to stretch my legs.
Well stretch we did. Followed all directions to a tee. Learnt a lot about the Boys Farm. Who knew?
Thanks for bringing us here, Muzza.
Please note, the container has become brittle and parts have broken off. The log is nice and dry inside the bag though. May need replacing in the not-too-distant future. Cheers! Smile

Found it! Thanks muzza. The container at the gz has seen better days though.

Another great cache by Muzza.

I'd been over the site of the Boys Farm before but was good to revisit it as part of trail running / geocaching Sunday.

Thanks Muzza!

Gathered the coordinates in a quick walk around (cutting a few corners off the track), and then completed the find later on in the day. By that stage it was well and truly dark! So thanks for the descriptive hiding hint.

Very glad I wasn't around in the 1930s and working my behind off to become a farmer! We're living in a glorious age of luxury and comfort. Not sure what the future holds but I'm predicting kids will have an even more sheltered and cushy upbringing.

Stage Two today resulting in the pleasing retrieval of the cache. Stage One was a few months back when the cycle trip was curtailed as weather & the end of day closed in. Collecting the waypoints was challenging via bike as the track is in major disrepair. Today was a more pleasant bike trip towards GZ with enough time to divert down some of the custom-made trails. Great spot, fun cache, thanks Muzza.

Out for a pleasant stroll in the park this morning, and it's such a nice sunny warmish morning.
Had a pleasant walk up the hill trying to ignore the sound of the traffic on Wellington Road and the helicopters overhead and the mobile phone ringing in my pocket. Sort of pleasant. Magic approach from the north to WP1 but I just couldn't find the container. Searched everywhere that looked like a hide and then some again. Decided I would save this one for another day and head home to finish up some work. Plus it looks like the weather might be coming in.
Thanks for placing this cache Muzza, until next time.

Went out on my day off to explore Lysterfield Lake park. Had a wonderful walk with lots of kangaroos around. found the cache.
Thank you Wink

The clan was successful in finding this today. We parked at the lake and set off for what turned out to be a long walk particularly for the grumpy clan member. Once we got to gz the cache was quickly in hand and we started heading back. Took the tb and will move him along

WP1 found after forcing the girlfriend to learn how to bike ride again after over 20 years! She is not such a fan of the hills, up or down. I look forward to coming back here to find the rest of these caches around Lysterfield when I remember to bring spare batteries for my GPS as they went flat just minutes after finding WP1.

Find #24

Solved the GZ a couple of weeks ago but rain was imminent so I had to hurry back to the car. Hadn't had a chance to go out again until today, and by golly was is a beautiful day! Nice little hide although quite far from the clue waypoints. TFTC!

Found with Spiffy- at the end of our bike caching day at Lysterfield as we ran out of light and Spiffy- ran out of energy. A nice historic tale of the farmers and interesting to see the remains. The track is very overgrown in spots. We nearly get the GZ, but it was on our way home so made the small detour. Spiffy- was really happy to ride back up the hills again..... TFTC

Out on a bike caching run with TurnerFamilyFTG just to prove how unfit I am. It was interesting seeing all the old farm stuff still existing way out here. This was out last pickup for a very tiring afternoon (well for me it was anyway). TFTC muzza.

I headed out today to finally find six long standing multi and puzzle caches that I've had the finals on hand for way too long, as well as picking up some newer trads along the way. I started in the Dandenong Police Paddocks with a short 1.2 km ride then headed over to Lysterfield Lake Park for a much longer and demanding 6 plus km ride and then for some more punishment in the Dandenong Ranges National Park for a grueling 3 hour trek around the southern part of the ranges.

It was a really warm evening and it stayed really warm right into the night, so much so that I had to change t-shirts three times, each drenched with sweat. The ride through Lysterfield was great and I hadn't been there for a ride for quite a while now. There were quite a few riders about and I eventually got back to the car just as it was dark. The trek through the ranges was really enjoyable and I was surprised how warm it was there, even down in the valleys. The hike up Stoney Rise Walk Track was a real thigh master and I was pretty glad to reach the top, sit down and have big drink of water. There wasn't another person about tonight but there were heaps of roos, although I didn't see many of them, they sure made a noise when I hiked past. The night views across the suburbs were awesome too.

This evening has been a bit of a Muzza cache clean up so far and my third one so far. A nice quick find here this evening and on to the last Muzza cache in the Park. Thanks for the hide.

Found 3:09pm , find # 1709
Pam and I spent a few hours going for a long walk through Lysterfield Park today, collecting mainly Muzza caches.
This was number 4 of 4 for the day.
What a brilliant multi.
We absolutely loved it.
A beautiful walk through the bush.
An education about part of Melbourne's history, and this area in particular.
Some glimpses of infrastructure from by gone days.
Hmmmmm .. a long walk to the final.
At GZ, we found the cache to be about 20m from our calculated GZ after being fairly accurate with most of the others today.
The cache was in good condition although the super lock had the end clips missing.
This cache certainly scores a fav point from me.
Thanks muzza.

I didn't think it would take me this long to get back and have a crack at GZ but it did. This was my second find of the morning as I came here from "End of the Line". A really nice hide which I wouldn't have found had I not used the hint. TFTC. SL

I've had this lonely GZ waypoint sitting patiently in my GPS for a good 18months.. Finally found the oportunity to sneek by for a lunchtime find between jobs at work.. The walk in was very enjoyable and broke up the long day nicely.. the tracks were dry and in good condition, despite some side tracks being closed due to damage.. ocne at GZ I could see it was a favourite spot for resting kangaroos, hwoever none were spotted on this trip.. Thanks Muzza for the cache and luchtime escape.. Find # 3089

I was in the park grabbing a couple of other caches when I decided to have a crack at this one.
I've found all the waypoints, but ran out of time. I'll have to wait for another day and I might bring my bike Wink to launch my assault on GZ.

29-Jul-12
I came down to Lysterfield to tackle this cache in particular (for some "Share the Love" challenge caching credits) but also to have a go at some others in the area. The ground was wet & muddy, and it was disappointing to see the MTB track closures blatantly ignored (although not while I was there). The rain came and went - mostly "went" thankfully - so the walk in the bush wasn't too onerous, the information was gathered quickly, and the maths solved despite ink-smearing raindrops. I took the time to detour via another GCA cache on the GZ approach leg, and took delight in gathering some more kangaroo photos during this cache too. On the walk to GZ the feral narcissus, daffodil and other exotic flowers were a welcome respite from trail-trudging, but after continuing on I soon came to GZ - free from muggles thankfully (until soon after my find at least) - and I quickly found and recorded my visit. I'm sorry to say one of the cache container clips detached as I opened the cache - it seems the superlock containers don't handle flexing or more likely sun-damage well.... The cache still has it's two major clips working so hopefully they will be enough - just in case I added a piece of bark as solar-protection. TFTC and an enjoyable walk though the bush and some history - rain and all Smile

4th find for the day with S4pphire. This one almost did us in today due to the heat of the day. We found Frog Hollow as our 3rd find of the day. When lead off to to seek LLL. We found the first part of this Cache,we took a look over the valley and notice that we could see were we just came from. No wonder we felt a little stuff. Punch in new coordinates and head off. While walking to the GZ we saw wallabies which just watch us go by finally got to GZ a found the cache. Nice log book too. then it was walk back to the car which we had parked the other end of park. Muzza thanks for the cache a enjoyable walk, a little cooler weather would have made this a bit more comfortable.

Wow, what a hike! 4th find for the day, ended up being the last. Totally stuffed afterwards. We found clue at GZ but the container no longer has a lid and has been damaged. Input the wrong co-ords and ended up a km in the wrong direction. Argg! I was hot and tired, the question was asked if I wanted to bail or continue and in true cacher stuborness I decided to go for it. I really didn't want to have to come back and do this one again. Now with correct co-ords we followed the GPS more than the map, went bush bashing and eventually found it. I have never been so happy to find a little plastic box. Today was not a great weather day to go caching in this location but we did it. Wallabies, roos and a little rabbit stuck around to see who these strange creatures were wandering through their territory. The highlight was the funky fat striped frog basking in the middle of the track. I couldn't help but scream when it decided to move out of my way mid stride before I stood on it. Cracka1, who was leading turned in fright to see me laughing. He was greatful it wasn't something bigger. All in all a great day out. Hints for those that seek this cache. Wear good shoes, bring lots of water, snacks, hat, sunscreen etc. Remember, it doesn't matter how long it takes - the reward is the Find!

**** 100th Multi, Yay!! Big GrinBig Grin *****
This was a great cache for the 100th find of this type.
The cache at WP1 has become a little fragile so may need replacing soon.
The final cache at GZ was found easily and I replaced the zip-lock bag for the log as the other was torn. Really enjoyed the walk thru to GZ with most of my time dodging the muddy puddles. Also glad to see that the Orb spiders had gone too; during the summer they are everywhere...[8)] Left blue stone took nothing, thanks Muzza for another great cache, which is still in good condition after so many years.
