We are nearly at Longreach for the QOGM 2023. Staying in Barcaldine for 2 nights, slight change in plans so we can go to the luncheon event on Sunday.
We solved some of the puzzles before coming, so we’ll do those first! And now for some non puzzles!
Thanks RoddyC for creating, placing and maintaining this cache.

On our holiday trip, we will be stopping in many different towns before making our way to Longreach for QOGM 2023. We will be taking in the sights and sounds of each town, exploring the local culture, and trying out the regional cuisine. We are looking forward to a fun and exciting journey!
Here's one to find today. Thank you for placing the cache RoddyC.

Outnabout for some solo caching while camping in town overnight. We’re taking the roundabout route to QOGM 2023 at Longreach. It’s always a great day for caching.

For anyone making Geo plans, do yourself a favour and visit Australia’s only current Geotour at Ballarat while it lasts: https://www.geocaching.com/play/geotours/ballarat-victoria
And for anyone that can travel to Longreach, Queensland, late September 2023, Google “QOGM” which is the Queensland Outback Geocaching Muster. You’ll have at least 8 or 9 days of pure geocaching fun with around 200 like minded people attending a mix of events and access to over 200 geocaches placed by the QOGM team. It’s not a Mega, it’s better.

First for the day as I head down to Morven. Cache was quickly found and in good condition
Pulled in to the rest area to wait for our travelling companion and took a quick walk across the road to secure the find here. Thanks RoddyC
Quick find when staying Barcaldine for the eeek. Log and cache damp. TFTC. TNLN. SL
As we left Barcaldine, we stopped here and made a quick find. Across the road a truck was parked. It was carrying just the scoop of a digger, but the scoop was probably 2 times the height of a person.
Thanks RoddyC. All good here.

We are “very happy to arrive” at 2500 finds at this cache. Thanks RoddyC for all the caches placed in this district. You must be very busy maintaining them all!
We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth.
Day 7 with a change of direction for our trip due to road closures so instead for Tambo to Emerald we had to detour via Blackall and Barcaldine updated the GPS’s to collect caches along the way along with heaps of grey nomads towing caravans even a group of old vintage cars and motorbikes along the roads to contend with.
All caches were found along our journey that we attempted unless otherwise mentioned.
Thanks to all cache hiders for keeping this hobby alive and breaking up a long drive.

Very quick and easy find. Log book is quite wet from the recent weather, we dried the container before putting it back but it’s still quite damp. Should be okay in a couple days though. TFTC
Travelling homeward bound to Busselton from the Townsville Mega, how lost can we get?
It’s been 2 months since the CacheQld mega and we are still in Queensland, that’s still a long way to go to get home to WA
But the fun bit is, finding all these geocaches along the way.
No matter where we park our caravan for the night, it’s always an exciting day to see this great country through the eyes of the local geocachers.
Thanks to all the COs for showing us your favourite spots along the way.
A busy spot today.

Found it with pippahiccup on a western run up to Mt Garnett. But rain and road closures hampering us. Can only get cashes that we aren't in a foot of water. But getting to explore at least. What an interesting town.
On our way north for a family event in Mt Garnet. However, Barcaldine had 6 inches of rain in 24 hours and we are spending today filling in time trying to decide whether to backtrack or wait for the roads to reopen to move onwards.
We could see this one when we parked so I tried to hide it a bit better, but we could still see the corner when we left. TFTC!

Found during a trip from Adelaide to the northern tip of Australia on Cape York Peninsula, traveling along the Strzelecki Track to Innamincka, then to Noccundra, Quilpie, Blackall, Barcaldine, Hughendon and Ravenshoe to Cairns and Cooktown, out to Weipa and up to Bamaga and Seisia. Thanks for the cache RoddyC!
I was very happy to arrive in Barcaldine, especially when we realised that three other couples we knew were stopping in the caravan park here. Happy hour fun to be had playing Klop and drinking wine!!! This cache was found no problems.
TFTC. A nice quick find after stopping for diesel and a break. I’m visiting from Newcastle area.
Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that I can claim the finds or not as the case may be. TFTC.
04/01/21 Today caching around Barcaldine and surrounds. Roadtrip Mackay to Emerald to Barcaldine to Aramac to Blackall to Jericho over the next 3 weeks. Lots of puzzle solving before and during trip. Searched area and found GZ . Replaced and signed log. TFTC SL

We have been to Emerald to complete the geoart and now we are spending 2 nights here on our way to Winton to see the dinosaurs . This was a very pleasant walk in the late afternoon from our van site. Thanks RoddyC for the cache. I hope this log is grammatically correct - I have rewritten it a few times

Today was the fourth day of my little journey to outback Queensland and a early start.
What a day!
I started in Tambo but with the rains coming down it did make it a little hard to cache, so a change in plans was in order. I grabbed a few in Tambo then headed up to Blackall and start a few around there. But with the rains here as well I could only grab a couple, with patches of blue sky further north I decided to head to Barcaldine and leave Blackall and leave Tambo for another time. I got to Barcaldine and it was also raining not as bad and in between the rains I got 1 or 2. I could see the rain was clearing out west further and big patches of blue sky, so I headed to Longreach, the roads were wet and flooded in places, but I was getting blue sky as I pushed on. As I passed a couple of caches I grabbed those only to find the dirt was now mud and super sticky, I was even sinking at a few stops, but in 4wd the dmax just eat the mud up and drove out, something about “go your own way”
Finally in Longreach and I had enough time to grab four caches and then turn around and head back to my original plan of being in Barcaldine for the night so as I could back track after the rains. A long day of driving but a rewarding one just the same when I collected “Endurance”, I think it is appropriate for today’s efforts.
I had no DNF's and All good with the cache's along the way and with it found and log signed I returned it as found, thanks for placing it here, I enjoyed the drive today.
