Out with Snoopy1976 this weekend completing some of the TRLT caches. Most were easy finds but some took a little longer to find. TFTC

Streak Day #1683 - Dave8153 and i were out this way for the weekend so i could aim for my 5000 milestone for the OZ Geomuster [now MEGA] this easter. This one was a quick find like most in this trail. TFTC

We have had a wonderful time caching on these back roads, love the rural scenery. A great series - this was one of the caches we targetted and found. Thanks to Code1 for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.

Our xmas caching trip is to clear out the trlt series, this was day 3 of our adventure. Well done to all the COs for setting up series and the hard work in maintaining it. We really appreciate it. The ants guarding this cache have the most vicious looking claws. Tftc

Found as part of a weekend away with Hoojar. We headed up towards Gulgong the first night and camped near the start/ end of TRLT (@ -5 degrees ). The next day we made it through some nice historic places and great rolling countryside to finish up at Sunny Corner after a feed in Bathurst. The next day a few more finds before we headed home. Plenty of roadkill spotted, not many cars and not too much trouble at each cache. Thanks to all those cache hiders .

The opportunity finally arose that Steeba and I both had a free weekend to go caching. We quickly settled upon the northern half of The Road Less Traveled series. We drove to Gulgong via Mudgee after work on Friday, camping just before midnight at the suggested TSR nearby.

Saturday we made our way via the caching trail, and the odd additional cache, to Bathurst for dinner, then back onto the trail to Sunny Corner where we again camped for the evening.

Sunday we turned our heads for home, via a few additional cache stops in Portland and Wallerawang.

A fantastic weekend away, with excellent country to be seen and company to be had. We enjoyed the caches that we found.

With our 1500th cache milestone in sight, we set off on a caching day up into this beautiful region, driving The Road Less Travelled through Palmers Oakey, Dark Corner and Sunny corner. We managed 48 finds (and one little 'bonus' cache) for the day, only one DNF. Starting the day at -2 degrees and thick fog, it turned into a ripper of a day, never really getting above 8 degrees, quite nice in the sun though.

Another big day out with Caching Wench Number 1 starting with an early departure from Canberra, with perfect weather for our ramble along those country roads for many many finds. We found all the caches to be good sized containers and nice hides. Next find of the day. Quick find at GZ with the torch as the sun had gone by now. Signed the log, returned the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

A last minute plan saw Fitzy_1965 and I heading off to make another attack on the TRLT series and whatever other caches we could nab on the way Lots of laughs and perfect weather made for an all round enjoyable day cruising around the countryside caching with over a 100+ caches in the bag!

Apologies for the generic log-We found most of the TRLT series were good sized containers and easy finds with only a handful proving to be a bit of a challenge.

Road trip North to tackle The Road Less Travelled Series with JordsAU! I’ve wanted to try this trail for a while but hadn’t found anyone to try it with. I ran it by Jords a few weeks back & after checking the roster for the week, the stars aligned and we started organising it. He was aiming for “200 caches in a day”, so we planned the trail as best we could!

Monday – we drove up to Gulgong to start the trail. We worked our way down to Mudgee (~30 caches) before setting up camp for the night. We had an early night so we could smash out a big day.

Tuesday – packing up at sunrise and setting out, the big day begun! We reached the first 100 by 2:00pm (7 hours elapsed). We were worried that we weren’t going to reach the 200 milestone considered how far we had to go and how long we had been tracking! The stretch from the Great Western Highway to Oberon made great time and we were on 150 caches. Instead of heading into Oberon to set up camp in daylight, we decided the best use of the remaining daylight would be to push through into the night for the last 50. Eventually we were down to the last handful, when we hit an area of the forest that had been logged. To make up the last few, we assumed there would be caches in Oberon, so we drove 50km back to town. We made the 200 at the Oberon Memorial Site and called it a (long) day.

Wednesday – I was all ran down from the big day, so we made our way back home! I found a few in Sydney, and made the drive back down home. It was a good to unpack and have a nice hot shower. Now for the long laborious task of entering these logs!

Thank you to all the Cache Owners along this trail. It was a real joy to visit another part of this great country we call home. It’ll be easier for me to return to the trail via Goulburn/Crookwell to finish off the series (and hopefully visit any further extensions). TFTC’s!

2/5/17 Found with muppet95. Muppet95 mentioned to me that he was keen to hit up The Road Less Travelled series and we decided to take a few days off to go on a bit of a road trip. I wanted to shoot for a goal of finding at least 200 caches in a 24 hours period and we made plans accordingly. We drove up to Gulgong on the first day and arrived in the early afternoon. We started The Road Less Travelled series there and headed south towards Mudgee, picking up approximately 30 geocaches on the way. We spent the night camping on the outskirts of Mudgee and had an early night, with the expectation of an early start to have the best chance of reaching our goal of 200 caches the next day. At the crack of dawn on day 2, we packed up camp and set out on the trail, finding our first for the day at 7 AM. We then spent the next 14 hours travelling The Road Less Travelled, caching the series and picking up some additional caches along the way. We powered on well after the light of day had disappeared, because we were on a mission and were resolute in our efforts to achieve our goal for the day. We reached a point, down near Gurnang in the pine forest, where the area a cache in the series was supposed to be had been logged and we could not continue, without backtracking and going the long way around. We made the decision to turn around and head back to Oberon, where we would pick up the last remaining few to reach our target number. I am very sad to say that on the way out of the pine forest, a wombat ran out as we were driving past and was struck by the underside of the car. We stopped immediately and I rushed over to its aid. The poor thing was in not in a good way and I did what I could to provide some comfort but it faded away within a matter of minutes. The accident is very distressing and upsetting, and it put a real dampener on a long and tiring day. There was nothing we could do at that point, so we continued on our way back to Oberon, picking up some more caches in town. We reached our campsite and setup, keen to rest up and have a deserved sleep in. It was another cold night, definitely dropping below zero degrees. We woke in the morning and, after packing up, we made our way back to the big smoke. Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners, and for putting this series together, which takes us on a different route along the Road Less Travelled. We will have to come back at another point in the future to try and finish off the series, and hope that one day the series may be extended further for everyone’s enjoyment.

Out with Brewmaker while on a two day adventure finding caches in The Road Less Travelled trail series and other nearby ones.
We started at Meadow Flat and then headed north (having previously headed south on another adventure) through Sunny Corner and Palmers Oakey before camping overnight at Wattle Flat. Then it was on to Sofala Sally's Flat, Pyramul and heading north towards Mudgee before we ran out of time. Will have to come back to finish the series. Most caches were easy to find and it was a very enjoyable drive along these country roads some beautiful scenery, historic places, native animals etc.
After a long search in the obvious spot we couldn't find this one. Looks like it's missing

DNF with MikeV1. Checked the obvious but not there. Dug in deep and still no luck. Might need a check? Will send CO photo to show what we didn't see!

Over two days we managed to grab 100 finds while attempting part of TRLT series. We started at Meadow Flat and headed north passing through Sunny Corner, Dark Corner, Palmer's Oakey, Mt Horrible, Turon, Wattle Flat, Crudine, Sally's Flat, Sofala, Pyramul and Aaron's Pass, before detouring to Mudgee to refuel and then head back to Sydney. We had a great time taking the Brewmobile along these rarely used country roads, seeing some amazing scenery, old homesteads, cemeteries, plenty of wildlife and natural landforms along the way. Most of the hides were easy to find with good coords and hints. Thanks to all the COs for the time & effort that has gone onto placing these hides.

This is a great trail and I am so pleased we decided to come this way. 3 Kings and I are well in the groove now and having a ball. We had a great drive through some beautiful country and saw lots of birds and great views. Thanks to the CO for what must have been a lot of work putting these caches out and may "in the snow". Where the pine trees have been harvested it is a shame to see the mess left behind. Please excuse the cut and paste logs. TFTC

Day two of the Power Trail - A great drive around the country side with some lovely views along the way, another day with great weather.

After staying in town an extra day to have another run around the Mt Panorama run, we decided to come back out bush and do some more of the TRLT series. Lovely area and a great run. Thanks go to the CO's. Travelling slowly homewards after a six month stay in Tassie.

Another quick and easy find, was in the open, so covered it a tad more before we left, water in the dam is looking a bit off, could use some rain I think to clean it up a bit.

This was our nineteenth cache of the day and thirteenth of the TRLT series. This was a tranquil spot, a nice place to stop for a cache. Thanks Code1.

Today while holidaying in Bathurst we decided to do the caches around Turon State Forest in particular the TRLT series. Thank you to the CO's for placing these caches here - it was a great drive to see the countryside and if not for geocaching, would probably not even ventured onto this road. TFTC

16th of 17 for the first cache run of the day - a trip on The Road Less Travelled: Meadow Flat, Sunny Corner, Dark Corner and the bottom of Palmers Oaky. I gathered TRLT caches and others in the area, taking a couple of side tracks to do so. I'm here from Sydney for the GCNSW Bathurst Invasion and I got another 8 caches later in the day, too, making it 25.

Another easy find thanks to the hint, in between "TRLT - Dark Corner" and "TRLT - Windsock". TFTC.

We discovered all those many a couple of days ago.

We have solved all the interesting mysteries before we started our trip to the Mid Western Region of NSW.

Day 1

We started the day in Meadow Flat, followed by Sunny Corner and Dark Corner past Palmers Oakley.
We loved the hilly nature along many peaceful Gravel roads. Many smilies were forming on our map.
We finished the day in Bathurst.

Day 2

We started all fresh again in the morning. Leaving Bathurst, we were able to get going about faster along the sealed road.
We reached Sofala at around lunch time. We couldn't believe that about 40,000 used to live here. It really seemed that the city stopped developing in around the 1850's..
We continued towards Hills End and Windeyer through dry grassy land in 47 degrees heat.
We spend such a beautiful night here in Windeyer in the caravan park. We booked one of the train accomodation where you got to stay in the train back in time. What a great experience. We really liked Windeyer as it seemed so far away from all the city rush. Te locals were very welcoming and were happy to see us in the pub next door for dinner.
What a great community living were it seems like everyone knows everyone.

Day 3

We left Windeyer after a big breakfast. We travelled along Hills End Road until we reached the turn towards another Gravel road. There wer many animals to watch and it got even hotter and hotter.
This day ended in Mudgee.

Day 4

We took a look at Mudgee city today were we searched for a couple of caches and ten continued towards Rylstone.
After we continued to the Wollemi National Park which a good friend recommended us to go. Here we climbed on the top of the mountain and simply enjoyed the stunning view and the tranquil nature.
After, we traveled towards Kandos, Capertee, Cullen Bullen, Portland and Wallerawang back home to Sydney.

We hereby would like to thank all owners for this great interesting tour. We got to see many historical places and sometimes felt like as if we were living back in the the 1850's, which is a good thing.

Not having driven this road before I have enjoyed the scenery today and especially noticed the fine dams on many properties that are all holding good water levels at present. Another quick find TFTC. small swaps left.

A very pretty location. I have enjoyed the day, both with the great U3A group, and the wonderful area that I would not normally traverse.

Deep indeed! It was nice to have a long gap between caches too. Gave the car a chance to stretch its legs!

We completed this series over 3 1/2 days in total, with a side trip to Hill End which we thoroughly enjoyed. We were heading homeward bound after a couple of weeks on the road, touring and caching around southern Queensland and NSW, and this series topped off a great holiday. Thanks to all COs for their efforts in placing these caches and making this series possible. Another dam complete with compulsory duck! TFTC!

as I pulled up a grey heron took off, as I got out of the car a couple of wood ducks departed. Guess I'll cache alone here as no other birds were seen nor did any hang around long enough for me to take a photo of them. luckily the cache was found easily enough and I was back on the road to the next one......

Out today with Paul the Hippy. Thanks hippy for driving me around grabbing these caches. We had a great day, even when I got a little grumpy at the end of the day. Woke up after spending the night at medow flats. Had a lovely time finding the ones towards Sunny corner. we even went for a walk and grabbed a few which werent on the series. Got to sunny corner and checked out the old tennis court and dance hall.
After sunny corner we continued to dark corner (great with names out here). Visited acouple of cemeteries and continued down the road until it turned dirt. This was our favourite section oof the series as no cars and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere.
Past Mount horrible we went, thinking why is this called horrible and then onto the tar again. Completed a few puzzles and then back on the series.
Following the black top we went, here the pull offs were better then the second section of the series. Loved the town of Peel, where we grabbed a puzzle and acouple in this series. Got to wattle flat and was exhausted. Had fun with the blackberries in the dead center (NOT). Finally made our way to sofala. Lots of history here and visited another cemetery for a puzzle. Thanks for all the caches, lots of hard work went into these and really enjoyed them. Cheers mr_roo

Todays trip took us from Meadow Flat, over Mount Horrible & back to Bathurst. It mainly followed TRLT.
Hubby enjoyed his driving along the unsealed sections of the road.

Today was our last bite of the TRLT series. We camped at the Bathurst Showground and started our run from there. It was a fantastic day for caching, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stroll to each cache. We ended up logging 50 caches (and DNFing 2)

We would have liked to attempt more caches on our way back to camp but the heavens opened as we were attempting the final multi, so we decided we wouldn't like to get any wetter and headed back to camp for a well deserved drink..

There's been a few caches with dams as the theme in this series. I've been resisting the urge to write about that moment in the Vacation movie. Until now.

In 1939, when David O'Selznick was making Gone with the Wind, he had to deal with the sensibilities of the time. He wanted Rhett Butler to leave Scarlet with the words "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." In the book by Margaret Mitchell his line does not include "Frankly", but the censors of the time wanted the word "damn" removed from the film. You see, in America, the word was considered a little too harsh a cuss word. We couldn't have that! In the end, sense prevailed and the line remained in the movie as O'Selznick wanted.

So in the Las Vegas Vacation movie, when the Griswalds go on a tour of the Hoover Dam, the word "dam" is repeated gleefully throughout the scene because it's the homophone of "damn", and even nearly sixty years later it had enough frisson to make the scene funny. That's in America where grown ups still use the word "super" in every second sentence. I wonder if it would be funny in Australia. Let's see:

My twelfth cache for today on The Road Less Travelled.

I daydreamed a bit here and over shot this one and had to chuck two u-turns.

The TRLT caches down this way turned out to be my favourite caches along the trail, including this one.

This was day 1 of our travels to pick up some of the caches of the TRLT series. We travelled from Katoomba and decided to camp at Sunny Corner. We found there was a variety of hides and they were all easily found while we were out and about enjoying the scenery and the changing countryside. Thanks for taking us on this country tour with the bonus of finding caches as well TFTC.

Today was the day to complete my biggest cache run to date. From Mudgee to Gulgong and then follow The Road Less Traveled series and the surrounding caches. I started nice and early at 7:30am, and didn't finish until 11 at night! On the way I saw plenty of lizards, the first snake of the season and smelt many rotting road kill during the day, and at night I had the live kangaroos, wombats, possums and probably all the flying insects banging into my head when I had the torch on.
Over all the experience was worth it and great big thank you to the CO's who put all of the caches out there.

Since my residency in New South Wales is coming to an end. I decided a road trip was in order before the big move to sunny Queensland. Headed south down The Thin Back Line south to Sydney then west out towards Lithgow, Meadow Flat and Sofala then Mudgee intending to pick up some of the TRLT Series and others of opportunity. Thanks for bringing me here. What a great start to the Series Well done

As I was staying at Mount Victoria for the weekend, I had one day free to do a spot of caching. It was suggested by more than one person (my wife included) that I should visit the TRLT series...so I made a plan to try and find as many of them as I could today. I started out in the very early hours of the morning with Andromeda, and managed to get through each of the caches before the sun went down with approximately 160 finds and only one or two DNF's for the day. Whilst there were plenty of caches to find along the way, what really captivated me the most was the beautiful scenic countryside, houses, and communities seen along the way. I really enjoyed my time visiting this series, and although there were a lot of kilometers to cover, it was well worth the drive. Well done to all involved in creating this series.

With Rats and the mini rats wanting to use the upcoming Mega as a significant milestone we were starting to look around for some quick numbers when this powertrail popped up. The timing couldn’t have been better and plans were soon hatched for a trip out west.

Teaming up with Mizmaz we had a comfortable 2 day drive through some spectacular countryside and under perfect weather we completed the trail. All the hides have an element of uniqueness to the respective owner with some of them being very creative while others offered amazing views.

Thanks to those cache owners who put this trail together.

The mini rats have officially completed our first powertrail. Helping Mizmaz and the Rats we went in search of some quick numbers. We had a lot of fun finding the caches and camping along the way, except for the cold overnight temps in Sofala.

We didn’t sign all the logs as we are using the Melbourne Mega as our 1000th find, but we did enjoy the experience and the beautiful country side. Thanks for the caches and to everyone that hid them.

Teamed up with the Rats and Mini Rats to knock off the powertrail, plus a few extras along the way, through some spectacular countryside. Over a two day trip (which also gave me my first camping experience) found enough variety to keep the hides interesting ranging from standard/no hint descriptions to those with more effort on creative camo/significant locations. Became easy to recognise when there was a change of CO. Had a 100% find rate (other than two offline at the time), coordinates out significantly on only 2 or 3 (these did have other people’s comments that helped where generic logs were the norm) and while we started at the southern end, some parking options would have been safer coming from the north.

Find No: 4843. Visiting from Newcastle, staying in Bathurst, enjoying immensely the variety of hides in the district, finishing off the TRLT series today together with some golden oldies on the way, thanks for the cache Code1!!

Today we completed the TRLT series, we collected those and some others along the way, the weather didn't start so good but cleared up as the day went on. We passed some beautiful landscape, we seen our 1st red belly black snake basting in the sun for the season. plenty of sheep and cattle along the way.
we had a very enjoyable day.
A big thanks to the CO for placing the caches, and showing up their back yards.

On a TRLT run today with JB. Her first big trail day. The weather has improved and the tunes are on as we cruise through some really nice scenery, with a nice picnic packed for later.

No 3214- By this stage the landscape had changed again. I was enjoying looking at the wattle, watching the cows, listening to the frogs , looking at the dam and of course, the main aim, finding the cache. Thanks

Slowly chasing down the rest of the series which has been great.

2Day we went 4 the last 17 closer to town. Had no problems parking and seen no roo's.

Came here during the daylight and made quick finds, which kept the flow nicely.

Thanks a bunch 4 all the caches keeping us entertained.

[Blue]# 13056[/Blue] Found on the way back from our 2015 Winter escape to Qld.
Another perfect spring afternoon for a drive around part of the TRLT trail with lgoody.
Not many muggles around as expected and some nice scenery.
A good trail so far and many more to go tomorrow.

Went for the last 17 closest to home today. Nice sunny warm day this time, not dark and foggy when last out this way. Quick find here. Road is now dirt at Dark Corner working our way to Limekilns to get the rest. Good hints and safe parking on this section.Thanks Code 1.

Great cache

A planned walk on Lithgow ridges with the Whitemushroom did not get off the ground due to inclement weather. But the mushroom had an alternative and what a great day it turned out to be, not a micro to be seen anywhere, a great series of caches worth every mile of less travelled road.
A grand day out looking for nice well presented caches what more could you want.
