Great to find a cache out here in the back of beyond. A couple of weeks out of Melbourne on an 8 mth trip around the western half of Oz. Our second trip to William Creek...have been here a few days waiting out the 40 heat before heading on to Coober Pedy. Love the hospitality of Trevor and team and have again enjoyed our stay...exciting that water is once again flowing into the Lake. It is early in the season but I expect things will soon be very busy for the pilots flying visitors out to see the Lake and magnificent Painted Hills. Thanks for maintaining the cache (all looking good) and for getting me up and about before the heat of the day Wink

Once upon a time, in the vast and rugged outback of Australia, there existed a tiny township called William Creek. It was a place where the sun kissed the earth with its warm embrace, where the wind whispered secrets among the gum trees, and where the locals spun tales as wild as the kangaroos that roamed the land. Now, in this quirky little town, there lived a geocaching enthusiast named Jack. Jack was known far and wide for his love of adventure and his knack for uncovering hidden treasures. But there was one cache that had eluded him for years the legendary "William's Whimsical Cache."Rumored to be the most whimsical and wacky cache in all the land, it was said to be hidden in the most unexpected of places, waiting for the bravest of souls to discover its secrets. Determined to be the one to find it, Jack set out on his quest.Armed with his trusty GPS device and a sense of curiosity as vast as the Australian desert, Jack ventured into the unknown. He followed clues left by fellow geocachers, solving riddles and decoding puzzles along the way.As he journeyed through the rugged terrain, Jack encountered all sorts of obstacles from mischievous emus blocking his path to sudden sandstorms that threatened to swallow him whole. But nothing could deter him from his mission. Finally, after days of searching, Jack stumbled upon a curious rock formation shaped like a giant kangaroo. With a grin of excitement, he approached the rock and began to inspect it closely. And there, nestled among the rocks, he spotted it a small, weathered container adorned with colorful stickers and strange symbols. With trembling hands, Jack opened the container and peered inside. What he found left him speechless a collection of trinkets and treasures from around the world, each one more whimsical than the last. But the true prize was a tiny kangaroo figurine, carved from the finest opal and twinkling in the sunlight.Overwhelmed with joy, Jack added his own treasure to the cache and carefully resealed it for the next adventurer to find. And as he made his way back to William Creek, he couldn't help but marvel at the magic of geocaching how it had led him on a wild and whimsical journey through the heart of Australia, all in search of a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered.Come visit SA's longest running annual event -GCAK1D5- keep the weekend free - 7th - 10th June 2024 Can't wait!!2395

We were a bit scared to poke around in the bushes here in Australia. You never know what lies waiting in-between. My father grabbed a stick and went searching. We eventually found it safely and wrote our names in.
What a beautiful unique little place is Williams creek. Can't believe I had the privilege to see it.

Arrived yesterday afternoon in 37 degrees and feeling alll hot and sweaty No energy to find a cache. This morning it is cloudy and a nice temperature so before we take off we took some time for a stroll and found the cache. For us dutchies quite an experience to go off track and watching out for snakes. Luckily daddy found a wooden stick and was brave enough to get the cache out. Thanks for this on such an isolated place. To always remember we will leave a favo behind!

A little stop over on our way through. What a great place. It's funny how a cache can be unfound for months then found multiple times in a day by people going in opposite directions. Dropped a PT for the next finder. TFTC.

Found while visiting from Canberra on the way to Perth.

We had stopped for a few days in Hawker and took a day flight to see the Flinders, Lake Eyre and William Creek.

We had a bit of time here so I trotted up the road to grab this cache.

It was safe and sound.

The EvilQueen’s Team of people and geodogs had a rest and a feed at the pub and filled up with very expensive fuel that wasn’t as expensive as we thought it would be. Pub meal was terrific too. Yum. Called home to check on geo daughter then grabbed this geocache on the way out. Great swaps here that upped my faith cachers. Now back onto the Oonadatta track to find a place to sleep. TFTC

Wow wow William! Spent a fun night with dinner in the pub on Friday night before a scenic flight over Lake Eyre (with water) this morning. wow again!! After lunch we might have had a little “rest” and did some reading in our warm “ cell block”room. We walked here via the old Ghan embankment and came back along the road to see a plethora of cars/vans lining up for the $3.25 diesel. Cache in great condition !

Found with Sea eagle on our “mini” adventure through the middle of the state. What could go wrong? SpidermonkeysGrandMums health suddenly declined, 3 out of 4 of us had been sick (not covid luckily but many tests have been required and results transcribed between towns and phone coverage) left the monkey home not well, farina bakery was closed due to covid and was the highlight of the beginning of our trip, the backup battery decided to die. So, we don’t know really how far we can go and taking each day, one at a time.

Overnighted at Port Augusta (just to get out of the house early) , two nights camping at Farina, (frosty!) two camping at coward Springs and then two at William creek (hotel room and a scenic flight)

The skies have been amazing at night and the sunsets fantastic. We haven’t been able to find all the caches en route due to the drivers demands but we selected some old and 360 degree from home special ones. Nothing wrong with leaving a few for “next time” either.

Thank you for placing it for us to find. Thank you for contributing to the geo map and maintaining when required. TFTC

Found with SpidermonkeysMum on our trip along the Old Ghan Railway Heritage Trail from Quorn to Finke, Lamberts Centre then back along the Stuart Highway. Had a great trip, stopping often for caches/coffee/camping. Weather was very sunny during the day, freezing at night but I love a good campfire. Thanks for the reason to stop.

TFTC. Found with Algae ️we are on a road trip from Ballarat to Birdsville, off to the big red bash. Grabbing some smilies along the way in some towns. Saw a squirrel up a tree here…
First stop from Ballarat - Beaufort, Ararat, Great Western, Stawell, Underbool, Murrayville, time travelled and lost all our fruit and veg in the process..…… South Australia - Loxton, Worlds End, Mount Bryan, Orrorro, Parachilna, Coward Springs, William Creek….. purple and yellow flowers in the dessert….and now onto the next.

Found on a trip to Parachilna Gorge, Marree, Muloorina Station, William Creek, Lake Cadibarrawirracanna, Coober Pedy and back home down the Stuart Highway. Very satisfying to have made the find after passing by this cache a number of times over the years. Thanks for the cache Gordon Patrick Samuel!

We decided to load up the camper and run away from home for a week or two. The rain and a domestic water repair made us change our plans a few times but it didn't detract from the fun. We met quite a few people and learnt a lot from them - we were privileged to be shown a dugout at Coober Pedy and station life at Edeowie. We also found time to find a few caches, but we still have many unfound in the areas visited. Looking forward to returning to the upper north of South Australia one day soon.
Thank you to all those who helped make our trip very enjoyable.

10-Aug-21
We stopped here for 2 nights. We did a flight to the Painted Hills on Anna Creek Station which was awesome, and also visited ABC Bay and Halligans Bay. Lots of salt but the tide was out. We wandered out to grab this one on one of tge trips past it - not the time our Cessna 172 taxied across the road. TFTC GPS Smile

Found on yet another trip without crossing borders. Like many others overseas trips are on hold. Even interstate is hard to lan. So we are taking the time to explore and re-explore u home state of South Australia.
This one is take 2 as our first attempt was clobbered 2 days in by a sudden lockdown meaning we had to turn back home again. Two weeks later and the geohounds are back at puppy holiday camp. Our plan is Hummocks Station, Willow Waters Gorge (brilliant!), Farina, and then the Oodnadatta Track to Algebuckina Bridge, then through to Eringa Waterhole and on to Mt Dare. After that the likely path (assuming the NT border is open) is via Finke to Lambert’s Centre of Australia and then we will turn back south. We may drop into the Painted Desert on the way back and perhaps also a side trip to see Lake Caddibarrawirracanna. We hope to find a few caches along the way and maybe hide a few as well. We are certainly having fun so far.

Nice driveby. I have visited Bill many times. A quick stop today. No planes in the main street. And the pub has beer.

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

The cache was found in the last place we looked, which as usual was not the first place we looked. Thanks for placing a fun cache guys. We do love your work. We signed the logbook. Of course we did that is way we play this game. Cache in pretty good condition for the cache age.

I highly reccomend the burgers at the pub and young Blake at the pub is lovely. We saw Glen McGrath doing one of his fly in tours here too, he had dinner at hte pub, he's a lot taller than i expected! Having just done the Flinders Ranges leg of our Big Lap we are now making our way along the Oodnadatta track with the aim of visiting Australia lowest point and then across into the NT to the geographical centre of Australia before heading up the Stuart and into Alice for some more fun. Thanks for being one of the caches we found along the way. TFTC

Lunch stop, woo hoo! Well not quite as we needed to pluck this cache form it's hidey-hole before proceeding into town for lunch at the pub. The wind was really picking up as we arrived on the outskirts of town and by the time we had returned to the car after locating the cache the wind had turned into a massive dust storm which engulfed the area. It even brought some rain which caused the kitchen staff from the pub to run out into the middle of the road and perform some kind of celebratory rain dance - no rain for the past 4 months apparently. Well they got the bloody dance wrong because the dust storm intensified so much that you couldn't even see across the road let alone drive along it *safely* although we noticed a couple of dills do so!

Fortunately by the time we had eaten our lunch the wind and dust had abated (because the cooks had stopped dancing and returned to the pub kitchen!) allowing us to we continue northwards again.

[@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I travelled to the Northern Territory from Adelaide for a 2.5 weeks road trip holiday. We took my jeep through Port Augusta, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Andamooka, and then drove the Oodnadatta Track via Coward Springs, William Creek (including a Lake Eyre scenic flight), Oodnadatta, and Marla. It was then onwards to visit Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tju?a (Olgas), Kings Canyon, and then drove the Red Centre Way aka. Mereenie Loop Road to see the Tjoritja (West MacDonell Ranges), calling in to see the various highlights. We then stayed a few nights in Alice Springs, and included a day trip to see the East MacDonell Ranges. It was then time to turn around to head to South Australia, and in doing so, we visited the Palm Valley, and made the 4WD detour through Owen Springs Reserve (an excellent shortcut that wasn’t too technically difficult), calling into the Henbury Craters, and the Lambert Centre of Australia. Our final stop was Coober Pedy, and we really enjoyed checking out the various dugouts and mines.

Today, we continued our outback trip travelling from Coward Springs along the Oodnadatta Track to Oodnadatta. It was an early morning start as we visited the nearby hidden gravestones, and arrived at William Creek to take a scenic flight across Lake Eyre. Once we participated in that adventure, we also decided to drive the long route to Lake Eyre to feel it with our hands itself, but the army of flies forced us back in the Jeep, and on our way. After all those corrugations, the main Oodnadatta Track felt like a nice freeway as it was a slow journey to our evening stay.

A quick stop off here before catching our scenic flight across Lake Eyre. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks [@Gordon Patrick Samuel](http://coord.info/PRB5CD) for placing this cache, and its ongoing maintenance.

@Davidwazza and I travelled to the Northern Territory from Adelaide for a 2.5 weeks road trip holiday in the infamous black jeep. We took a route through Port Augusta, Woomera, Roxby Downs, Andamooka, and then drove the Oodnadatta Track via Coward Springs, William Creek (including a Lake Eyre scenic flight), Oodnadatta, and Marla. We then stayed a few nights in Alice Springs, and included a day trip to see the East MacDonell Ranges, before heading home in a more direct route through Palm Valley, Owen Springs Reserve, Henbury Craters, and the Lambert Centre of Australia, and finally Coober Pedy.

Today, we continued our trip, from Coward springs, along the Oodandatta track. We started early, getting to William Creek for a scenic flight across Lake Eyre. We continued along to our next stop, the Pink Road House in Oodnadatta!
