Logs
Thank you to every one who came to this event. There were 58 team names in the attended log to which I added those who posted an attended but did not manage to append there name to the log. I counted between 120 and 130 people in attendance. There are still a few cachers to log their attendance. This, Nanango's First Event, will bea difficult to equal or beat next time around. Spring might be the right time of the year to hold the next one in the South Burnett ( Nanango).
Thank you once again for supporting Chris and I and geocaching in the South Burnett especially around Nanango.

Almost didn't make it out here but SOOOO glad we did!
One of the best events we have attended.
Picked up a couple of FTFs n the way in.
Very well organised, plenty of caches, new & old, for those keen amongst us.
Great prizes & giveaways.
Pathtag swaps & more.
Although we didn't partake (being Vegan) there was a BBQ for the carnivores present. LOL ...
A great event & a great day followed by more caching on our way back to Brisbane.
Great job youngoldfella & team!!!

Day 2 of a 3-day getaway with Dutchie1950 and our main objective is to attend youngoldfella's Event today. And after some exploring of the local area this morning, we have finally arrived [^]
Well done to the CO and his lady, who put on a grand event for all of us. There was lots of food, friends to catch up with, new folk to meet, pathtags galore (oooh...SHINY!!!!) geocoins, TBs, lots of prizes, many new caches in place, and lots of great fun to be had.
A pleasure to see so many in attendance, knowing that they have come from far and wide, and all just because the CO is who he is: a well-known and much-respected gentleman of the game. TFTE, youngoldfella. I'd give it a FP if I could

Congratulations to YoungOldFella for putting on this event.
From what we could see it was an overwhelming success.
It was a nice excuse for us to get out of the city and do a bit of caching in a different part of the country.
We had a wonderful time and managed to catch up with quite few people.
Afterwards we found plenty of interesting caches and saw some wonderful scenery along the way.
Again well done and a big thank you for going to the effort of putting on the event.

Thank you John and Chris for organising this wonderful event. Also thanks to the others who assisted you with time, donations and any other help in the setting up of this event. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks Young Old Fella for a great event.
Many thanks for Purple_Ninja 00 for his efforts & everyone else that made this day great due to kind generosity.
It was great to see so many people & great to see a number of people staying overnight to support the community.
I must say at the end of the day one geohound ended up eating some six sausages, hmm might have to keep him to a two minimum for future events.
Thanks again for an awesome event & two years can't come quick enough.

Had a great time at this event with Genyo, Ms Maddy and Natur0nut. Thanks for hosting this amazing event!
Captain Terror and I had both been looking forward to this event since it was published. We are both big fans of Youngoldfella so we knew that we would move heaven and earth to get to the event. We came up on Friday night and after waking up at about 4:30am and thanks to the sunrise and warmth inside our tent we decided to head out caching before the event. We had found 17 caches and not a single one smaller than a regular. This is another reason we love Youngoldfella so much!
When we arrived at the event to set up the All Things Geo stall we were astounded out how much preparation had gone into today. I set up my table and had a lovely chat to the few attendees that had also arrived early to help out. Everything ran smoothly and I am glad that I took the time off work to come up. Thanks for the event Youngoldfella, can't wait for your next one!

A quick look at statistics shows this is already the 20th most Attended Queensland Event ever, outside of a Mega. With a few more to log, expect it to crawl closer to number 15 or so. That is a MASSIVE pat on the back with nothing else to Mr. and Mrs. Youngoldfella. There are events in Brisbane that get a mere handful of teams attend, but to have over 100 people and over 50 teams from up, two hours from Brisbane is downright excellent. Everyone involved with the planning of this event, especially John and Christine ought to be proud of themselves.
When I saw the event posted, it took me all of 0.05 nanoseconds to decide I was going, rain hail or shine. Youngoldfella was an IMMENSE (this really cannot be overstated) help at the QLD Mega, which is something I, and the rest of the committee will not be forgetting in a hurry, so the opportunity to come on out to the South Burnett for a long weekend and help out with the event was one I was most keen on. Then, I got a most polite email asking if [url=http://stores.ebay.com.au/allthingsgeo]AllThingsGeo[/url] would hold a stall at the event and considering the geocachers out here are enthusiastic buyers, I was more than happy to oblige.
I had no idea the preparation that had gone into this event. This morning when visiting the bakery we found they were donating the bread for the BBQ (so that meant we went back three mornings for breakfast there). Then at the event there were tables, chairs, tarps, a BBQ lunch, drinks, trackables, moveables.. the works put out. More donations of all the food, gift baggies, raffle giveaways, new geocaches and even representatives from the local Tourism department.. seriously, was there anything missing? I daresay short of a fireworks display, no. It was all here.
Mr. Youngoldfella gave a great little speech about his experience and credibility which was interesting, I met lots of new faces, had some laughs with old friends and generally had a ripper of a time. We'd arrived early and by golly, we left last after helping pack up. It was a highlight of our three days in the South Burnett geocaching, road tripping, hiking, seeing Christmas lights, hanging out with fellow geocachers and enjoying ourselves in every way. It is a right shame I cannot give this event a favourite point, or six. Or twenty. The event was a roaring success, I loved it and I am thankful for everyone who had a part in it. Thanks for putting this event on and showing off your region, youngoldfella

I have so looked forward to this event for ages. Time approaching the event was a little stressful so I decided to come up 2 days early. I was going to stay for 4 days but ended up staying 7 days I enjoyed the area so much. A truly great event that was attended by young and old, and newbies and oldies alike. Plenty of old faces to catch up with and plenty of new faces to try to get to know also. The event was so well organized I couldn't have thought of anything to make it better. As you, John, and Chris, have supported your community by bringing so many visitors to the area over a number of years, it was great to hear that the community (council) supported you. That was well deserved. Thank you too to the bakery and Purple Ninja 00 and another thank you to all the others who supported, provided food, donated prizes, and the company of so many smiling faces. It was a really enjoyable experience attending the event and geocaching around the area. It is really beautiful and I loved every minute.
I heard on the news tonight (Dec 11th), that you had a big hail storm there late today. I do hope you are all safe and your property undamaged.

What a superb event this turned out to be! We headed up today just for a day trip, but really enjoyed the day. A perfect day for an event, and with such a great group gathering together, everything went very smoothly. Always a treat to catch up with new and old faces, as well as a delicious BBQ [^]
TFTE youndoldfella, a truly great day that everyone enjoyed and appreciated [D:]

Well as mentioned in all the previous logs the event was a great success with the local business's and council all jumping in to help.
None of this of course would be possible without the efforts of YOF and his lovely wife. A big thanks to all the local CO's who have been busy creating great caches for the rest of us to come and find. TFTE

My 1,500th FIND!
Wow, I could not have thought of a better time to hit this milestone... The event was awesome, the company was great and the location was one of my favourite geocaching locations!
Thank you to youngoldfella for putting on this event and also for putting out so many caches that have offered me many a hours of hunting and geocaching fun!
This event was part of a Nanango adventure that was shared by Fairy Mother, ZoolandR, mtill17 and myself. This adventure started from the Sunshine Coast and all revolved around this event 'Nanango's First Event' - http://coord.info/GC61ND8 .
It was a fun day of catching up with old friends, exploring new places, grabbing new caches and making many wrong turns (as always).
It was a perfect day to be out caching as the weather was favourable and the temps stayed down, keeping us cool. We just jumped from cache to cache, all working towards hitting milestones today. All up, return trip, it was about 16 hours of event attending, cache hunting and just honestly, an all-round fun!
Thanks for making our day great youngoldfella, and thank you for this event.

# 1188 - In Nanango this weekend with IolantheK for this, Nanango's First, great event.
We were lucky enough to have accommodation for two nights in Nanango so we made good use of our time. Thanks to this event I've been able to add some 80 smileys to my name.
Been meaning to come to Nanango for a while, but apparently needed an nudge like this to get me there! Well done John and Chris! Bye the way, the first ever path tag I picked up was one of youngoldfella's! I had just started caching and didn't quite know what it was, but I hung on to it. I do know now and have been able to add to the numbers big way today. Thank you so much.
Everything added up to a great day: the organisation, the food, the prizes, the extra caches, the path tags (!), and last but not least, the company of old and new friends.
Thanks again for great event (and may many follow....)

Great event, met heaps of lovely people. Managed 2 FTF. Yahoo thanks for organising the event.
Great event, hope it's on next year as it gives me an excuse to come out here. Came for the drive with Mickezza and both decided we need extra time here. Thanks
What a wonderful day!
Thank you so much for hosting such a great event. There were lots of smiles on everyone's faces today.
It was great to meet so many new people.
Thanks also to All Things Geo for my prize of two new caches.
A lot of hard work goes in to organising events like these - it is very much appreciated.
Looking forward to the next one.

Thank you for such a fun day John. It was great to have so many geocaches in our small town. It was good to catch up with some old friends and make new ones!!! I can't wait for the next one
Attended our event. Thank you to everyone who attended. Will send out an announcement tomorrow. There are 53 team names entered in the log book and two separate counts had the attendance at between 110 and 120 adults and children. Beyond our expectations and a BIG THANKS to everyone who attended, helped out and donated prizes.
A great event and worth the time to travel ,and as always with the CO ,well organised and run ,the bar has just been raised for holding events , the challenge is on Thanks for you holding your event
Great Rollup - plenty of space, food great to catch up with friends - new & old. The Youngoldfella Team did an excellent job of putting this one together. Thanks.
What a " Great Gathering ". Well worth the 650 Km drive to get there. Wish I'd had more time to tackle all the new caches placed by many of the "locals" and published just in time for the event.... Something for next visit.
Thanks to the organisers....the caterers....the prize donators and the cache placers. It was good to catch up with old friends and put faces to names of cachers who I hadn't met in person.
I'm sure a good day was had by all.
Cheers till next time....

Thank you for organising and hosting this event [blue]youngoldfella[/blue]. I had not been in this part of the world previously. Grabbed a couple of caches in the area but now will have to make an effort to return to collect quite a few more.
It is really nice to be able to put faces to Geocachers names and meet the people behind their logs.
The weather was tremendous also. If you should hold another one next year, I would be there as well.

Attended with fng_affl and JungleCats56. Thanks for a great event. It was great to meet other cachers!
I had a great time at Nanango's first event. Catching up with old friends and new. I hope there's more events to come out here. I've got plenty of caching left to do. TFTC
Well that was certainly worth the effort. There were sooooo many people there. Beside the ones we knew, we met quite a few whose names we had seen on log books, but in looking at the attendance list, there were people there whose names we would have loved to have put a face to, and said hello, we enjoyed your log/cache. Perhaps name tags with caching name and real name would have been good. I erred anyway, by not wearing my own name-tag. But that minor point aside, it WAS a great time with plenty going on all the time, and much consumables by way of food and also geocaching supplies. New caches to cause us to come back to Nanango again. Thanks COs. Sincere thanks to all who helped, and to Chris and John for everything else.
A last minute change of plans and the chance to be chauffeured up and back saw me climbing into Fangsoki's car early this morning and setting course for Nanango, and I'm so glad I was able to make it after all . As always, I enjoyed talking with old friends and new, and had a grand time, though writing out all the trackable codes from the CO's voluminous collection was almost like work! Thank you to youngoldfella for organising it, the people who came to make it a success and the lovely sponsors for the food and prizes. And Fang for taking me . It was a well-run and enjoyable event and I'd come back again even without new caches to find! TFTE, youngoldfella! =^.^=
This event was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, myself included, in fact I think it may well be the best event I have been to .
Thank you so much to all who contributed and to youngoldfella for a wonderful job hosting. We'll be back for the next one.
This event adds to our total of 1993 smilies.

Had a wonderful time today.
Time passes so quickly when you are having fun amongst friends.
So many to talk to and not enough time to get around everyone.
Enjoyed the onsite caches around the park.
Beautiful cake which was light and airy and melted in your mouth.
Thank you for my pathtag of today.
Yummy sausages and water melon and bottles of water.
Will discover all the TB's soon.
Thank you youngoldfella for this Event, your friendship and for the invite today.
TFTE Thanks youngoldfella All good with this Event

When I heard youngoldfella was holding an Event, there was no way on God's green Earth I was not going to go.
Youngoldfella was a very strong supporter of the Queensland Mega Committee before AND during the Mega itself. We (the Committee) were very appreciative of his efforts - and didn't have any second thoughts coming to support youngoldfella in his own Event.
La Kedi and I made the early morning dash to Nanango in the morning and arrived somewhat early - which worked out well. There was a splendid turnout of folks - both familiar and new (to me) folk alike. The sausages and other food went down very well.. and what a spectacular cake. Congratulations to everyone who won prizes
There were many happy faces. I did a count of the logbook and counted at least 54 teams - so youngoldfella can at least expect that many logs. A fantastic turnout for an Event held by a fantastic cacher. TFTE youngoldfella - well done, mate

We are so grateful to youngoldfella for putting this event together. And a big thank you to all who helped with the setting up of the shade, and supplying all the lovely food (especially the cake...yummy!). It was so nice for us to finally put some faces to all the caching names we've encountered over the years, and great to meet and speak with some of our fellow cachers from near and far. And to top it all off, the weather gods smiled on us as well.... given the recent stormy weather we've been seeing in Nanango, the lovely sunny day was a real bonus. Thanks again to youngoldfella and everyone who attended, Cheers from Bindair Dundat and "Princess" Madelyn.
When we saw this cache first published there was no way we were going to miss out on attending this event.
The cache notes told us of many exciting things to happen and we were not disappointed, all that was promised happened plus much, much more. Our thanks go to John, Chris and everyone else who helped to make this a great event. You WILL hold another next year we hope.
So many caching teams who we did not recognise means we have been away from SE Qld far to long. It was fantastic to meet Grannysmith1947, who we only knew from the internet, Sweet and Sour being another. It was great to chat to others we have met before and meet others whose team names we had only seen in logs. I felt a little anti-social as I spent a lot of my time sitting in my chair, having recently had shoulder surgery I was protecting my arm from possible bumps. Pain is not my friend LOL.
Thanks for arranging for the trackable, we thought that we would miss out as we were quite late requesting one. Our number is 17.
After the event we headed out to clear up some of the many new caches in the area, twice before we had this area all logged, thanks John and the other teams for the placement of these to give us the opportunity to see more of this lovely area, we found all the caches that we did to have good co-ords and be in good condition.
To us, caching is not all about finding the hide, the social side is important as well.

To us, caching is not all about finding the hide, the social side is important as well.

Thank you youngoldfella and every one that was involved in running this event.
Snow Bear and I have never been to this area before today, but now we plan to return again in the near future and do some more caching and to have a look around the place a bit more.
The event was well hosted and the weather was great, along with so many friendly cachers that turned up made for a great day. I will most definitely come back here for another event.
Thank you

I really enjoyed this successful event with the awesome company of Ms Maddy, Dawesy321 and genyo. I saw quite a number of familiar faces and met some new ones too. It was so lovely to finally put names to faces. Thank you for this amazing event youngoldfella and everyone else who helped with organizing everything! This event was set up really well so thank you so much for making it all possible. I really enjoyed myself and I look forward to many more events that Nanango has to offer.
What a brilliant day out in the country!
Carpooled with Nature0Nut, Genyo and Dawesy321, with coffee stops on the drive out
Chatted, swapped a few shinies, won a prize, ate cake and much appreciated the bottled water (what a nice touch!), and hit the road with Nature0Nut for a caching run
Definitely coming back to Nanango as soon as possible, as I often drive out to Atkinson's Dam and it's not that much farther to this delightful township. Thank you for bringing us here! This is what caching it all about. A first event, hopefully there will be many more. So pretty around this part of the world.
TFTC youngoldfella! Awesome!

Where do I start, Better do the Thanks first, I suppose,
Firstly to our Host and his lovely wife for the event, the organising, catering, prizes, drinks and food.
I was one of the first to arrive and also one of the last to leave. I do believe everyone had a great time.
As I was somewhat restricted with my movements thanks to the team that helped me around the park to find the local caches.
Sitting there early, eying off the old platform, thinking, that hole with a couple of bricks missing would make a great hide, bugger there's already a cache there. another
There was so many new and old faces to greet.
Gained a few new pathtags.
Again Thanks Youngoldfella for the best event I've been to.

Saturday. Slow Puncture took off early to fuel up Blue Thunder for our excellent day out at Youngoldfella's "Nanango's First Event" event. We had a hassle-free drive from Burpengary to Nanango, particularly enjoying the part of the trip from Blackbutt onwards, as we had not been past there in a long time.
This was a fantatsic event - clearly lots of thought and planning had gone into it, and it was a credit to the CO and everyone involved. We got to catch up with lots of friends and see things never before seen.
This was the 27th of 36 caches found on this trip.
Thanks [Blue]youngoldfella[/Blue], for showing us your town..

Thanks John and Chris for hosting this friendly and well supported event. Your generous planning of the day was perfect and we enjoyed hearing in your speech that if you place enough caches they will come That is so true. Well done on all counts we had a great time.

What a great day it was!
Originally I thought I would not be in attendance but luckily I last minute got someone to fill my shift! Whoo! Roadtrip with MinkosDes and ZoolandR!
Up and 5 for the 6.30 start, we found a few on the way in and more in Nanango throughout the day.
It was great to meet and see many cachers. We dont have events often enough so it is great to see all of the new and old faces. Thanks to Grannysmith for the cool pathtag.
Thanks also to the event host youn-gold-fella! What a cracker! I look forwards to next year!
Thanks also to the COs from Nanango, your caches were all in excellent condition and contained some of the best loot I have ever seen!!
This event marks my 600th cache and I was glad to come on out to make it so. We found approximately 40 caches today and enjoyed every bit of it. So much so that we stayed for dinner at the Nanango RSL and slowly cached our way home that night!
TFTE and of course a fav point (If only I could) youn-gold-fella.

Hi Youngoldfella,
We have been hoping to get to the Event and just today found out that our Van will be available this Friday, just in time to pick her up and head to lovely Nanango. We had a nasty accident with an out of control 4x4.
Looking forward to meeting up with some well known friends and some new ones
Thank you for putting the event on for us to enjoy.
regards Sharon and Douglas Grant
Plus one geo dog Havana

4 days to go. Overwhelmed with the will attends logs. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we would get over thirty but numbers are fast approaching 100. Just a reminder that orders for the GC.COM approved tag for this event will close with [email protected] at 9am on Wednesday 2nd December for delivery at the event on the 5th. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Image of tag attached. Some geocachers are already in the area. My mobile # is 0438 292 402 if I can assist with any thing, especially if you have difficulty finding any of my hides.
I can't wait for this event!!! It so good to have almost 100 geocachers come to our small town. If you need help with anything my phone number is 0408425225. I will be around all weekend if you would like to catch up or go geocaching!!! Thanks from Ethan.
It's looking very likely that we'll be able to attend as I'm setting off today to get there, " there's alot of caches to get distracted at between Sunny Coast and Nanango !!!''
Oppss... Forgot to 'Will Attend' this event when it came out. How could I not go?!
Have wanted to get to Nanango for quite awhile but haven't been able to get there. This is a great opportunity to go. Will attend with Mickezza. Thanks
Is this the right site for the " NANANGO MEGA " ????
It is ....Oh good , well I'll be coming . Just one person.
Thanks for organising it YOF.

Now for a very good surprise. Matthew from www.cachingsupplies.com.au has contacted me and there is going to be a limited edition travel tag for this event. Pre manufacture design attached. Pre sales orders being taken now and if you order before the cut off date and time, see the web site, your tag will be brought to the event with no additional charges. GC.Com has approved the manufacture of this dog tag style trackable. I will update this announcement with the final product photo when it becomes available. There was a very good promotional piece on the event in todays, Friday 27th November 2015 edition, South Burnbett times newspaper. Christine and I are looking forward to meeting everyone in a weeks time. Safe traveling.

Forgot to add that the cutoff for orders will be Tuesday afternoon next week 5pm. ((1st December 2015)
Triciac2 has managed to organise accommodation so yes, I'll be there. Looking forward to meeting up with a lot of people and having a look around the Nanango area.
Both members of our team will be honoured to attend this prestigious event. We have a passion for "First's" so cannot let this event go by.
The plan is a big YES!
2 adults & the Geo-cat but we'll do our own catering as we are Vegan.
See you there!

A free weekend at this time of year is rare. An event by youngoldfella would be the perfect way to spend it. One adult will be attending. Cheers
Unfortunately my latest roster has come out and I will not be able to attend. I hope all those that attend have a good time.
The event is not far away now and I have to say that Christine and I are overwhelmed with the response. With the support of offers of help from PurpleNija_00, Jimmysproject,Captain Terror and others . I did not think that we would get thirty attending but we are over 60 at this point. Also would like to thank the Paroz family form Nanango Country Bakehouse for their offer. (PurpleNinya_00 Mum and Dad)
Thankyou to every one who has posted their, Will Attend, and to those who have let me know that due to their personal circumstances on the day will not be able to make it but would have liked to attend.
Please bring a chair if you are able and extra shade will be provided. Keith from Sweet_Sour fame has already placed some new hides in the area and he has ten more that will be released closer to the 5th. I have placed 8 new hides and they will be release just prior to the date or on the day. Thanks also to JimmysProject for a couple as well that will be released on the day or close to. Thanks also to the Fisher_Clan who have just released two.
Another surprise I received was that Thomas, Captain terror, from AllThingsGeo and Matthew, Genyo and Dawsey32,1 from Caching Supplies will be in attendance with some of their goodies. Many thanks to the cachers who have offered give aways or prizes and I will announce those on the day and in my final announcement. This date is a biggy in Nanango as the Monthly Markets at the showgrounds will be on from 6am to 12noon and the Nanango Races are also on. So there will be a lot of people in town. Also GeoChildren have been taken into account with a simple game for them and the big Kids at heart as well.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in Nanango on the 5th.
My mobile # is 0438 29 402 if you have any questions.

Just about to get back into geocaching after being sidelined for almost 7 years due to medical issues, then 2x floods.
We were really hoping to attend this event but due to other commitments, and being so close to the school hols has thrown everything out for us
Maybe next time.

Sorry but I will not be around for this event.
Would have loved to come up for the weekend.
Would have loved to come up for the weekend.
As it is the non-geo hubby's birthday we aren't able to make it up for this one. Would have been great to make it up there for this one. Have a great weekend
Bit of a drive there and back. If I can find a partner in crime for the day, it's a goer
