A nice quick find here with axell33 as we continue to enjoy our day out finding this series. So, now with one of the clues missing we are going to go out on a limb and look for the final anyway…. trial and error as we go. Thanks for the hide here.

30-Apr-22
We arrived at the last one and spotted it straight away. We quickly added our names to your log and returned your cache as we found it. Once again it’s always good to do a welfare check on one that hasn’t been found for awhile and this one is doing just fine. Now with all but one of the clues we decided to give the final a shot anyway. So off we go. TFTC ShortcutHicksy.

Finished work a little early today, so thought I'd cash in by getting a small series and this fit the bill nicely.

Going by #1, thought I'd be looking for something trickier, but this was an unexpectedly simple find.

Decided to enjoy the sunshine and tackle this series today. Like the previous finder, I started at #3, then onto #4 & #5. Then at #1 a muggle horse rider & a very loud barking dog had me hot footing it up to #2 before getting back to the car. I drove round to the Palomino Reserve and quickly had #1 in hand (clever camo). Few minutes later, had worked out the co-ordinates for the final puzzle and took another walk to find it.
Thanks ShortcutHicksy for great little series.

27-Aug-17
I was in the area today, and so I decided that I would have a go at tackling this series. I parked near #3 and walked down the river to #5, I then went up the trail to find the other two. All were found without trouble. Thanks for a great walk on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
ShortcutHicksy, I found your cache ‘Wungong River #2’ today. It was the seventh find of seven finds for me today and brings my total count to 838. The cache was found in a good condition so I added my signature to the log book and I replaced it as I found it. Thank you for the cache, the hide and for bringing me to this location.

Had to trek to Bunnings Armadale today after work and remembered this series of caches that had been taunting me for quite some time. No way would we be here in summer....ugghhh! Decided the timing would never more opportune so we called in on the way home. Tried for number 1 first but couldn't work out how to access it so switched to the river series. Heaps of water everywhere after yesterday's downpour so out came the gum boots from the boot. So glad I store them there. Sqwelched my way to number 2 and 3 as well and made quick finds. This was the final one and having collected all the numbers decided a quick look for the final would be next. TFTC, ShortcutHicksy. All well with cache.

Found Wungong River #2. Met with Linda Poad and her horse Shatina. Linda is the granddaughter of Mr. Poad whose street name “Poad St” is in his honour. Took Wild Brumby 2014 pathtag LN. Log book was soaking wet and not possible to write in; added and signed on dry log sheet. TFTH ShortcutHicksy.

Decided to do the SCH series around Palomino reserve walk trails. After the latest rains some of the trail is a bit damp. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful, the land owner was busy watching our every move. This made us a bit uneasy trying to find the cache on the structures. We will be back another day...

It was hard to pin down the spot for this one - had a hunt around where we eventually decided it must be, but the rain was setting in so we decided we'd come back on a nicer day and try to finish the trail. Patted the friendly horses on the way out. TFTC

have competed successfully at many shows here over the years, its one of my favourite grounds. I thought being a Saturday it might be quieter, however when I arrived I saw a very familiar uniform of a Young riders Dressage club is used to be a member off. So the Dogs and I headed out for a lovely walk starting at 5 because it had quieter access with the dogs and making our way through the series to one before heading to the final.
I felt a bit exposed here, but luckily no body was around, and my dogs were nice and quiet as they are use to horses. Looked for a bit before finding it, be warned though don't touch anything metal here there was a short in the fence and got a nice little zap replacing the cache. TFTC ShortcutHicksy

Didn't find this one as the GPS had the coordinates right in the middle of the grass with numerous choices of where to look either side. We started to do just that but gave up when we felt we were being watched and didn't want to look suspicious around the gates.

Onward we walk and the geo kids who were complaining are now begging for more. My geo daughter made sure it was a real work out as she decided to leave her thongs at home. Took a while but geo cousin who loves coming out with us when he can made the find. Had me beat on this one, now we head back to the car and drive around to number 5 which is the one we haven't got yet. Live no more then 3km away and have never known of such a lovely place for the kids to come visit.

06-Jan-16
This was my only DNF (excluding the final )
But on a brighter note, another neighbour now understands why all these people have taken a sudden interest in this area Smile

This was the only hide that took time to locate this morning. I searched for 5 minutes without success and then had to wait for a horse to pass before I could resume the search. I was pleased to locate the cache after another few minutes. There ended up being nothing as tricky as I was imagining with the hide; my GPSr had shown 2m on all the other caches but showed 6m here...which is not a problem, but far enough from what I thought was the likely GZ to explain the time taken for the find.

Nice hide

Geosister found it. Nice houses around here, no muggles this time.

Well I really did take the long way into this cache, then spent a long time here before finally locating the cache. So, after doing #3, I pointed the GPSr to this one, but missed the most direct route in and ended up walking along McNeill Road instead ... turned left into Clydesdale Streeet and soon realised that I was on the way back to car park ... hmmm where are #1 and #2? I soon realised where I had gone wrong and headed to #2 first ..

After searching for a good 20 minutes on both sides of the lane, I eventually left to do #1 (which I had walked past on the way here) thinking this would be a DNF. However, after doing #1, I came back here for some more punishment and spent at least another 20 minutes here, during which time the adjoining landowner wandered over for a chat as he was curious about what I was doing and had also observed other cachers before me. I explained geocaching to him and he was glad to have had his curiosity satisfied, though is not interested in taking it up himself. A friendly chap he was.

Anyway, after a bit decided to leave, again thinking this would be a DNF, and headed off to see if I could find the final with the data I had in hand. I did locate what I no know to be GZ, for the final, but didn't find the cache. Resorted to PAF after that and got a good tip as to the location of this cache as well as confirmation that I was probably at the correct GZ for the final.

Headed back here instead of hanging arund looking for the final though and this time made a quick find. I was definitely over-thinking this one and had been expecting something far more complicated than what I eventually found.

SL. Thanks (I think) for the hide ShortcutHicksy

Headed back out here this arvo to see if I could finish off the 'Wungong River' series. Had #'s 1 and 2 plus the final to go and with no muggles about it was a pretty successful outing.

No nearby horsemen today enabled me to conduct a thorough search. Still took a few minutes of looking and scratching my head before I uncovered the sneakily hidden container. Now off to grab the final Smile

ShortcutHicksy I found your cache at 4:37pm, this was the 2nd of 3 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 2385. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

After dropping the geo-hubby's to walk along the river track towards the field, Mrs iluvtrekking and I parked at the field where there was a gymkhana event in progress. It was raining steadily as we walked to this cache well away from the participants. After checking the poles on one side of the gate we came up empty so decided to walk to the last cache to see if we could do better. Passed the geo-hubby's on the way and directed them onto this cache were they immediately found it on the other side from where we had searched. Thanks ShortcutHicksy

12-Oct-15
Almost a Dnf - I couldn't find this one and decided to continue and perhaps come back, but I only managed to get about 20 mtrs along the track when curiosity got the better of me. I went back for another look and saw the little bugger in it's hiding spot. It was hot out in the sun today. Thanks to ShortcutHicksy for the cache.

03-Oct-15
When we were getting close there were some people tending their horse on the other side of fence. We just said hello and walked past we will come back though.

01-Oct-15
Had about half an hour spare this afternoon so decided to see if I could knock off this new series or at least make a start on it. Ended up doing the whole loop with mixed results, I only had 3 of the 4 required numbers for the final and had a look in a couple of spots on the way back to the car to no avail. I'll be back to finish off the series another day.

The farmer from number 1 was still watching me closely at GZ here so I decided to move on again after a quick stealthy look in a couple of places.

ShortcutHicksy I couldn't find your cache, this was my 2nd DNF for the day. I did have 3 finds today so all is not lost.

ROSS1957 was very nice and swept me away this morning, well away from the painting and gardening that is Big Grin to catch some smilies.
Well done ShortcutHicksy, I like the series and noticed you left the area on the other side of the river for another series, right??!! Big Grin

I saw these caches come out a few days ago but today was the first chance i had to come out and find them. a great little series and a pleasant walk along the track to find the caches. Stopped a few times to say hi to some cows and horses but unfortunatley they didnt have much to say....Im giving a favourite point for each one of the caches.
I had a bad case of cache blindness at this one. Im not sure what i was thinking here but i found the cache in the last place that i looked...TFTC ShortcutHicksy

TFTC! Convinced the geowife to take a drive to go for a nice little walk. About half way there she asked is this for a GEO? Yes dear it is....silence.

In the words of the muggle wife: "was a really nice walk except for the constant stopping". Great series SCH and would be good to see more caches coming from you. Thanks

*FTF* @ 7.05am.

One of the few benefits of not being able to sleep in is being awake when new cache notifications come through early. Neither of us was working today so jumped in the car and on the road by 6.40am. This is not area we are familiar with, it is beautiful and perfect for an early morning walk. We didn't pick up any of the TBs. Got a bit excited as we pulled into the car park and didn't see another car and happy to FTF all in the series. Thank you for the series and for bringing us here ShortcutHicksy.

A nice quick find and another blank log Smile

2nd to find. This time the horses were rather facinated with me. I'm glad because I was able to hunt and look like I was stopping for a chat at the same time! Good cover. I call it Horse Stealth.
Signed and tucked away and onwards to #3!
