GC61V65 Dragon SlayerUp at the Sunshine Coast staying at Kings Beach. Have to get some caching in on my holidays. I have tried to find this numerous times before never with any luck. Seeing its been replaced not to long ago I decided I better go check it out. Knowing the area well I began my search and this time the tether had a cache attached. Very excited to finally have this found. TFTC smallwombat

I had been here previously looking for this cache, after doing Red, Blue & Green and getting the final coords. On that occasion, I looked around for quite a while, in different places, but couldnt find the cache. I have been known to be cache-blind, so I was going to return, but hadnt gotten around to it.After chatting with the CO, I knew what I was looking for and roughly where I was looking, so I decided to just get it done. I wandered to GZ past lots of rubbish on the ground that looks to have been left by young kids or maybe even people sheltering there or sadly, perhaps even homeless. I found the area that I was directed to, but after digging around a fair bit I couldn't find the cache. Fortunately I had something of my own along just in case, and so I added it and replaced it as well as I could, hopefully hidden from prying eyes, but not hidden from cachers. This area needs a good CITO, but also a fair amount of stealth. Thanks, Bones74, for the cache, and smallwombat for keeping it going for us to enjoy.

solved a very long time ago. Was hoping to get this one today for a challenge but after a bit of searching I came up empty. Next time.

06-Jan-24
No luck here for me today but it's been a long and eventful day and I have to admit I wasn't really feeling keen by the time I reached GZ. It's likely to still be there I just didn't look hard enough. Oh well, next time we're in the area I'll drop by and have another look.

Out for a day of caching. Find number 9 for the day - scratched around at GZ for around 10 mins before deciding to abandon the search area and look at something slightly less obvious. Soon had the smaller than expected cache in hand - log was entirely saturated so a quick return trip to the car and a fresh piece of paper signed and replaced. Thanks for the fun we had exploring new areas with this series.

Today Peppa and I are on our way to the Sunshine Coast to attend the event planned for today but have started early to grab caches before and after.
Had a lovely catch up with the Canadian and now continued on with our caching. Finally found the cache in its hide. Log signed cache found.

Patrol14 and I are spending the day on the Sunshine Coast and having attended the Rescheduled: Canuck in Caloundra - Meet & Greet, there’s still time before battling our way down the Bruce for a cache or three…

Patrol14 announced she had a solve for this puzzle… which was lucky as I’d only found one of the required caches many years ago…

Again, it was Patrol14’s determination that finally brought the cache to light… happy to show this cache a little love today…

Thanks smallwombat

Took a little while to find as we were looking for the wrong thing at first. Checked some logs and used our geosenses then soon had it in hand. Unfortunately couldn’t sign as the log was in a bad way and sopping wet but took a photo as evidence and received permission from the CO. Sorry I didn’t have any replacements on hand at the time! Such a beautiful area, thanks for bringing us here.

Took awhile to find. Cache is no longer a regular size. Watch out for glass at gz.

Muggle65, Brislions and l are on the coast for a few caches today. The boys particularly wanted this one for a challenge they want to complete. I was happy to be a passenger and let them do the organising. Thank you for the fun

Having collected a selection of colourful Dragons last weekend, we are back on the Sunny Coast on a Friday to pick up a few altitude caches needed for a challenge. Nice hide .

Out caching with the fearless Bribie Crew (Domsky, Snickersallan and E_Smiley), after a lovely lunch we completed some labs and collected some solved puzzles.
This was the next on our list, a beautiful spot for a cache which was luckily spotted as I was poking around in a likely spot.
Thanks Bones74 for placing the cache here.

Out and about with the Bribie Crew (Domsky, Snickersallan and willis007). We had some time after our fun paddle across the passage, so we did some newish adventure lab and puzzles with finals on our list.

Thanks for the cache and taking us here Bones74/smallwombat.

A drive around this area on a chilly morning with this cache in mind. A previous log helped as one of the dragons has been archived and I had found the other two. A little clamour and the cache was spotted. Log signed and replaced as found. Thanks Bones 74 for showing me this lovely place.

Long have i wanted to slay this dragon.

A few years ago a mission to the backwaters of eudlo saw me battling a green dragon, noting it's obscure markings for a future date.
A trip to caloundra also saw me take on the blue with impunity.
So, elated with my success, tried several times over time to discover the elusive orange dragons dark den.. sadly, it was not to be, so it was with unfettered enthusiasm that a fellow knight regaled in his journals how to uncover the treaure of the dragons final hoard.
A handful of days back, i galloped my trusty steed to the scene of the debacle where after a short while, my eyes spied my shiny prize.
A dance with glee on the ashes of the deceased and once dormant dragon before triumphantly galloping away to regale anyone in earshot of my days dashing deeds.
A showering of salubrious success upon this most splendid of soiree's.
Oh! A mini-milestone was achieved, that of 2600. Salut!

Well, I have recently acquired a trusty ole blue 'yak, and I was busting to take it for a whirl. The CITO had me interested (I am yet to log one!) and I settled on a plan with a few mates to hit up caches in the general area. While the CITO was cancelled, we managed to still grab the caches and generally have an awesome time.

This was one of 17 caches for the day for me (excluding the challenges I don't qualify for). After hitting up the northern stretches of the Coolum Creek, we picked up a few random caches as we headed for Caloundra and then paddled over to Bribie. Finished off with a trip to Ewan Maddock Dam. Lovely day, every minute of it was full of sunshine and laughter. Can't wait to do it again.

Am I a lady or a monkey? Stay tuned to find out :p

After paddling up Coolum Creek with friends, we headed south to pick up a few solved puzzles.

No problems locating this one today, glad to cross it off the solved list. Shame the CO has gone AWOL bit I'm glad the cache lives on. I did find most of the original trads many years back.

Out for a day of caching with Mr Curious Quest. Next, we came to this cache. We searched and searched without luck. After reading a particular log, we changed our search a little and soon had the cache in hand. We added our names to the log returned the cache to its spot, then continued on our way. TFTC

02-Jul-20
A few weeks back I was asked if I would like to go on a weekend caching trip chasing some target caches. With a leave passed granted, if I got all my work done at home, and seeing i would be on holidays for me, a green light soon appeared.
Bags packed, car loaded, said bye to the family and I was off on the journey north. I meet jacs team in Caloundra first up and we did a few caches in the area before we set off for a couple that I really wanted to get for my D/T grid. Then it was time to get a move on to our accommodation in Harvey Bay, with a few stops along the way.

While a list had been made it seemed to grow on our travels. Our fourth cache for the day and one that I just happened to spy. I noticed the unloved on it and suggested we try and solve it while we are here, then it turns out the answer is there for us already. So a little walk along the beach, past the fishermen cleaning their catch, past the young girls practicing their tic tok moves. We reached the tree and soon had the cache in hand. With the log signed and cache replaced as found it was off to a target cache.

Thank you for placing this one here.

02-Jul-20
Saw this unloved cache while at the virtual. Read the logs and saw the note from dahumbug. Zoom off we go, past a few young beach goers practicing their TicToc dances with the gorgeous beach background. Cache found safe and sound exactly where stated.

**New container is a bison tethered to the pandanus tree**
**S 26° 48.167 E 153° 08.659**
**CO doesnt play anymore**

About a year ago I was living at Golden Beach and I came to have a look and make this one a find. I contacted Bones74, the CO and asked him if I could replace it. Taken a while to get back to it because there was always muggles at GZ, but today after I visited Wesso's new Virtual Cache I slipped past and replaced with a bison tethered to the pandanus tree at the base of the rocky cliff, as discussed with the CO.

Cheers bones74 for the mini adventure.

This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.

This looks like it needs reviewer attention since the CO does not appear to have taken any action in response to DNF and NM logs.

Can the CO please check this cache as DNF logs suggest it went AWOL a fair while back.

Sunday. We had found the 3 other caches in this series a few years ago but the final (this cache) was missing at the time and we couldn’t log a find. In the area today and now that this cache has been replaced, we made a quick find per the great hint on the cache page Smile

This was the 9th of 12 caches found on this outing.

Thanks ***Bones74*** for showing us this place Razz

Friday. Slow Puncture was out and about today on the lower Sunshine Coast.

We searched and searched this area – managed to find about a dozen bottles so we did a CITO. We PAFd a previous finder and confirmed we were looking in exactly the right spot. No container here Sad We spent about 45 minutes searching the area nearby just in case it was placed somewhere where it shouldn’t have been but no luck. We contacted another finder who sent us a detailed photo of the hide location (final co-ords were very accurate) and we matched the detail on the photo to the spot - definitely muggled.

This was the only DNF we had on today's trip.

Thanks ***Bones74***, for showing us this place anyway, hopefully we will be back!

Tackling this in the rain doesnt seem like a good idea but after finding 2 in the series Mr F was addicted so yesterday we did a 50km round trip to find the 3rd so today was a no brainer, rain or hail we had to tackle this one.

Dressed accordingly a 1 hour search did not reveal a cache so a grumpy Mr Felix headed home with his tail between his legs and umbrella. A revisit is required maybe next year. Red Face

PS very very slippery in the rain today. Twisted

Came back to have another go to locate this final Smile seems Mrs.K. Has better eyes than I Red Face as she located it in a spot I hadn't thought about checking Sad.

An enjoyable afternoon solving this mystery cache. We found the orange dragon first, then a 5 minute drive to find the blue dragon. You now had us hooked and so we drove the 30 minutes west to the Eudlo district to find the green dragon. What a surprise to find that we returned to not that far from the orange dragon to find the mystery dragon slayer cache!
We stocked each of the 4 caches with a child's toy, culminating with a Lion King figurine we have been saving for a special challenge. This cache earns it!

23-May-17
Walked along from the last cache and did a half hour search - couldn't locate a cache after finding a few good hide spots - Guess I just didn't look in the right spot. Sad. I will come back after someone else has found it.
Thanks for the hunt !

Found it finally found this 1 after a few attempts . The muggle factor here is huge and on previous attempts has made it too hard to look. I had been down here a few times in the last week but due to some filthy grub camping here and just destroying the area with piles of rubbish I decided to call the council . Council called and said area is clean so I went down today on my day off but guess who is still there the grub . I decided to look anyway as I was out of sight from him and after a short search JACKPOT there it was. The log was unsignable but I had a spare book and replaced it . Travel bug taken . Tftc

This was our 5th and final find for the day and Red Dwarfs was here to help me slay this dragon. So this is the one dragon that I needed to hunt and slay, as he is unloved. So after successfully finding all the other dragons we managed to successfully get this one too while doing some CITO and also trying to get an inquistive young girl to move away from us and she was following us around trying to look at what we were trying to find, fortunately her and parent moved away before we had to sign and replace so the secret is safe with us. Thanks for bringing us here and allowing us to go dragon hunting. FP awarded. TFTC Smile

I had a pretty decent search for this but didn't come up with anything, I had a really good look in the spot a previous finder took a pic of, but nothing could be found except some trash Sad
I hope it is still there somewhere!
Thanks

A fun day Friday with IolantheK and Brother Colin. A meet up with Teamtinda for the afternoon too! We arrived at GZ and what great views across from here. A bit of hoping up and around and down and BC had it - all the time I was still looking! TFTC Bones74

22-Jan-16
This morning I received a very kind invitation from Nurseyjulie to jump in her car and join IolantheK and Brother Colin in a little run around Caloundra for a couple of hours this afternoon.
This was the first on our list after our rendezvous and it pleased me enormously as I was very keen to find it before leaving our unit on Shelley Beach tomorrow to return to Brisbane for the W-word: work.
With 2 of 3 dragons found, my plan was to jetski along the line - if NeverLostAu could do it, so could I, I thought, although I now realise he had the other half of the coords which I suspect would have made life rather easier.
If we had done it my way, we would have started a long way away... but since IolantheK had the other half of the coords, we were all good. It was still a tough search but Br C came up with the goods... really need to be careful of the broken glass etc around here, which is a bit of a worry.
I dare say Brother Colin replaced it 'securely' meaning it may take a little more effort to uncover next time, but at this GZ, I would say security is the first priority!
TFTC where all is fine.

22-Jan-16
It's time for a play day with Nurseyjulie and Brother Colin Big Grin And seeing as we all live in different areas of Brisbane, and have about 19,000 finds between us, we had to head up to Caloundra so there was enough caches for us all to find Razz And now Teamtinda has joined us for a couple of hours [^]

I think I am the only one with all three of the Dragons found, so we all relied on my co-ords today. It was pretty hot, but we were all determined to make our way to GZ, and grab the cache. A bit of searching at several levels happened before BC called out he'd got it [^] Love the guardian Big Grin TFTC, Bones74.

I tried to find the Orange Dragon but it was almost dark and the terrain was not suitable for my current attire (or vice versa!). So I decided to chance my luck with finding the brave Knight, based on the information that I had already gleaned from another dragon's lair. Ground zero was a line rather than a point but it was still possible to narrow it down sufficiently to a reasonable search area. The Dragon Slayer's castle was well camouflaged with material from the surrounding area but I just spotted something familiar peaking through.

Thanks Bones74 for a cool series and I promise to find the rest of the dragons as soon as possible!

We had found the third dragon today so we went off to slay the dragon. It is such a shame that there is so much rubbish and broken glass at GZ and there was a Jack Daniels and Coke can hiding on top of the cache. TNLNSL TFTC

First Multi. Yay for us! Took a dragon sticker to celebrate (they are very cute). At first we thought we had written the clues down wrong so went back and checked the other dragons again. Nope, they were right...went back to where we started....way off. Followed the compass along the rocks and were finally standing right on top of it but still took us both a total of two goes to find it. Reading the previous logs helped heaps! TFTC!

28-Aug-15
Now that all the dragons had been visited, we had a set of coordinates to find the knight, the final of the series.
Arrived at GZ, and surveyed the situation.
A few muggles around but not near where we were searching.
We looked in a few areas and then I concentrated on one spot and saw it but could not reach it, so Konie took over and retrieved the cache.
We signed the log and returned the cache to its hide.
Please be aware of the broken glass at GZ.

With the final co-ords loaded I made my way to GZ with Team Benders. There were a couple of muggles nearby drinking but they were out of sight so we started our search.

Team Benders finally spotted the beast but couldn't reach it so I swapped places and soon had the cache in hand.

Once the log was signed all was returned as found.

Thanks for the fun chasing the dragons.Cool

After getting all the clues from the 3 dragons, Jasper dog and I headed back to the beach. Might have been quicker to find them in a different order but anyway got a good park right near the grassy lookout.
We proceeded down the slope heading for gz looking in all nooks and crannies as we got close. No luck on first pass, so circled again up and down around and over, and again and again... It was disconcerting with the amount of rubbish around. Other cachers would be recommended to bring a rubbish bag to try and remove some. Also lots of broken glass, so wear shoes! Razz
Jasper was exhibiting some impressive mountain goat skills. I was proud of him at one point when he wouldn't jump up where I was going and pulled the lead out of my hand. As he is prone to wandering/running off at high speed, I thought the worst and prepared for a chase but once I was down and looking for where he went, I found that he was up on the rock I'd just left but had found a different route! Clever puppy and he didn't even run away. Big Grin He must like geocaching. Razz
I started to lose hope and walked back up to the car, but looking at the view once more (that was quite impressive on such a clear day), I thought I'd check others logs again for clues. Thankyou Wesso for the key clue I needed - DEEP. I thought I'd looked pretty well enough but back to the closest gz and stuck my head in just that bit further and spotted a familiar green sticker. Changed position and reached deeeeep in and could just grab it. Big Grin We finally found the dragon slayer - what a cute little knight. Cool
Sat down right on gz to sign the log. Whew, what an effort.... Had a rest while signing - lots of muggles dotted around but no-one close to this spot.

Found @ 1530 hrs

Well this cache was a real challenge. After finding all the other caches in this great little series we eventually had a set of coordinates to work with.

So we headed back, close to a place we had visited previously. This place was crawling with people top and bottom!!

Miss Geo and I started our systematic search, we searched high, we searched low, we searched in the bloody middle, we search everywhere with no luck!!

After about 30 min and some blood I resorted to a PAF, to confirm we were in the right area. After a couple of texted back and forth and a pic or two, we knew we were close.........But where could it be??

Again I resorted to a PAF, and with some more information and direction we finally found the holy grail!

We just managed to extract the container from DEEP within it's hide and finally sign the log book, before replacing the cache exactly as we found it.

This was a great little series, well thought out and executed and for that definatly deserves one of our favourite points, well done Bones74.

#1173 *FTF* @ 3:04 pm with Stacevel and spinna76. Woohoo, we made it. And three first to finds out of four isn't bad for a series. I love this spot.
