Visiting the ACT for the grandsons 5th birthday, and managed to get some time to pick up some caches while the others went off shopping. Picked out a group along the Murrumbidgee River that looked interesting, and were! Made the mistake of not changing in to my trail shoes, as the trails around the ACT do tend to be a little gravelly. Weather was perfect for a brisk walk, and there were a few people out today being school holidays. The river was flowing strongly as well, but was unfortunately a little murky, but thats probably pretty normal. I managed to pass a small group of walkers again close to the GZ, so after another brief chat, I waited till they moved away before zoning in and signing the log.

Took a scout around to find which rock. Did find a cool scorpion though. Picked up on a walk along the trail with AngelG and TikvaNZ. TFTC domsky

This section of the river had been on my wish walk list for a while. with nothing else planned I decided to do a portion today. I didn't have time to do the full section but I made it to about 2Kms past red-rock gorge. Nice and sheltered along the rivers edge and very quite track. Only saw one biker, a runner and two young adults walking. Strangle one of the young adults had a tail attached to their backside. The accessories we carry?!?An enjoyable walk that i will return for from the other end to grab the remainder. Thanks for the interesting tour..

#3730 Having ridden through this section of the CCT with DeadThief a few weeks ago picking up all the info for a TikvaNZ multi, we decided to return today on foot for the final and collect as many additional Traditionals as possible on our way back through.
This one was trickier to find. I can only imagine it was placed when there was much less groundcover. Luckily I had DeadThief with me today as he spotted this discrete little hide. Thanks domsky for this adventure.

Found on the trek out to Red Rocks Gorge lookout. Beautiful day for a walk with the family.

Going through the Murrumbidgee centenary trail section and finding all the caches (or at least most of them). A lovely section of trail along the river, great fun! All caches were found (some took longer than others however) and in good condition! Thanks for all the COs on the combined effort while placing the caches here but a special thanks to domsky/KambahKid for placing the long trail here and maintaining it! TFTC!

-----------

The date is February 25th, the time a little pass 9, and I head off to another geocaching adventure! (well not before various problems leading up to it, but I got there eventually).

My goal is to find the remaining Canberra Centenary Trail caches, that goal however, managed to spectacularly flop on it's face due to me A) me miscalculating distance + elevation and B) me being weak and not being able to ride up a hill properly.

The end result was me calculating the GZ of all of them but only being able to find one because I wasn't able to return to that track without dying. That's pretty annoying, but it will give me a excuse to go back to the bushland so I guess that's fine.

A lovely ride today, starting in Dickson, to Coombs, to Kambah Pool (following CCT), to Tuggeranong, to Macarthur, back to Tuggeranong then returning to Lyneham. Only problems were that the heat is HORRIBLE.

Like I might as well have jumped in the Murrimbidgee river, as then I would have been cooled down!

A surprising lack of grass seeds in my socks by the end, despite the long grass. The only animals sighted was many kangaroos, a few lizards and a single shingleback just lying on the fire trail waiting to be run over.

36 (i think) caches found today, covering 93km and 879m of elevation gain, I am now tired.

Overall, great day and thanks to all the cache owners for contributing to this massive gameboard of ours. TFTC!

I have been trying to find areas with more than a few caches that can be done in a cluster. I saw the CCT trail along the river from Kambah pool to Pine Island and did a section of that walk a few weeks ago, today it was time to brave the heat for another section. This time from Kambah Pool to Red rocks and back again. I managed a few off trail caches as well and suffered two DNFs that hopefully can be fixed up soon.

I was struggling to find the right pile of stones in the long grass and other weeds all around this spot. It took several laps and lots of turned stones to locate the right one. A few bikes and walkers also passed while I was here.

Thanks for the cache Kambahkid

Boy did we choose the wrong day to walk this trail, it was extremely hot and we ran out of water after several caches, not that we did carry much. Honestly cant see why its not suitable for bikes, it seemed quite safe, atleast the section we did.
At the rapids further north we had the most delightful swim, and a short foot scalding run north was attempted for another cache, but nudists and a very wrong altitude had me returning for another swim.

Today Darzee Di, Jonasani and I head off to do part of the CCT from Pine Island to Kambah Pool.

It was a glorious spring morning for a walk along the river. All caches were found quickly and easily.

....unfortunately, I may have gotten a bit burnt along the way!

Coming to the end of rhe trail. Had a great day tftc!

07-Sep-19
A Geocaching adventure was organised, and I decided to join the group for the walk, even though I had found most of the caches along this trail - I had not found quite all of them, and it is a nice walk. So, caching as "capital crunchers" (handy that someone had a stamp) we had a fun day walking along the trail and all over the place, with lots of laughs, and we found lots of caches ... A few smileys for me, and over 2 dozen visits.
TFTC - one of the many I had found before, but it was fun watching the others look ... or taking photos of stuff while they looked Smile
Missing? ... It was replaced for the co, as all agreed it is missing/Muggled (it wasn't anywhere near where I had found it last time)

07-Sep-19
Such a perfect day to be out caching with friends along the beautiful Murrumbidgee! Thanks to the amazing Joolay for organising us all to tackle this trail. Caching as part of the Captial Crunchers: Gliss! Ayakem, Cosmonaut97, Lola1983, GeoGlors, Onieferret, sebass14, ZimbaW and Froggycache. So sorry for the repetitive logs - this one armed bandit didn’t do a great job at logging as we went... Thanks so much for the cache!!

Thanks FTC

The Capital Crunchers - led by Joolay, with ZimbaW, onieferret, GLISS!, Aykayem, sebass14, GeoGlors, Lola1983, Nibbletricecakes and Cosmonaut97 - took on the Canberra Centenary Trail between Kambah Pool and Pine Island. We covered more than 15km in six and a half hours to find 40 caches, picking up a few travelbugs and collecting at least 3 years of unloved in the process.

Signed as Capital Crunchers.

This was find #6 on this exceptional day of caching. Out with Joolay (who organised this craziness :>), Aykayem, Froggycache, ZimbaW, Onieferret, GLISS!, sebass14, GeoGlors, Lola1983 and Nibbletricecakes. We signed the logs as Capital Crunchers and trekked from Kambah Pool to Pine Island. 15 kms in 6.38 hours. Nobody got 'seriously' broken (but a few of us had old niggles already :>) and I am pretty sure everyone had a good day. TFTC.

07-Sep-19
Cache was missing and many eyes could not see it so replaced with one I had in my gear. Hopefully will keep the series going a bit longer
Today was the day for doing this final leg of the Centenary Trail from Kambah Pool to Pine Island. 11 lovely cachers turned up for the walk Froggycache, GLISS, Nibletricecakes, Onieferret, GeoGlors, Lola1983, Ayakam, Cosmonaut97, ZimbaW and Sebass14 and used the stamp of Capital Crunchers. It was pretty darn cold and very windy but not hot so a great day for a walk. TFTC

Reperio at 1455.

Day 2 of our Clear Waters mega event tour, and today we headed into Canberra to find a few family friendly caches. With the family keen for a walk, I brought them out here for a wander along this lovely trail. All the caches we found for the day were easy for the kids to find (except #2 which was gone), and the scenery was fantastic for them. Had a great afternoon out.

Gratias domsky.

#7933 - 09:25; Dropped a friend off at the hospital for an appointment, so with a couple of hours before pick up, I decided to head down to collect a few more caches along this trail. Arrived to find the gates still locked, so parked at a more convenient access point which halved the distance I needed to walk to this cache, which made for a better than expected start to the day. Once at GZ, the coords were good and I soon had the cache in hand. TFTC domsky Smile

This part of the track opens out onto wider views and is less enclosed than other sections of the trail. Flowers and grasses were high and moving in the wind.

Finally recovering after a crazy busy last weekend at the Mega, and I decided to accept the invite from RoddyC and SnickersAllan, to come Geocaching with them while they were visiting Canberra for a few days on their way home. Mister JD also came for the adventure. We met at Kambah Pool, all piled in with Mr JD and headed down to Pine Island, cached our way back along the trail to Kambah pool, then I headed home (well ... off to hide a Geocache on Mt Stromlo, then home Smile and the others drove back to collect Mr JD's vehicle.
We all had a fantastic time, even though it turned out to be a really hot day, and a couple of us were running out of water by the end of the walk.
TFTC - rocking along ...
