Found this cache whilst on our two month adventure throughout central Australia and remote parts of WA.A nice easy find as we left FarinaThanks to all the COs for adding to our adventure. TFTC
Found while having a look around the area today, travelling from Lyndhurst to Coward Springs. Quick stop here on the way to the bakery, what a good feed it was there. Cache container is cracked and not watertight, log is all ok currently. Signed and left as found, cheers. Find #7008 on 15 Jul 2024.TFTC Gordon Patrick Samuel!
Came for a pie. Left Hawker earlier stopped at some sights along the way. Didnt expect to see the crowd
This is such a cool little town. I have love the bakery food I just love bakery food for when you consider
Lunch and caching stop here. Would have been great to see it when it was a thriving town. TFTC
Found and signed while stopping at the nearby camp ground prior to the Anzac Day morning service. The service was well attended , maybe 200--250 in attendance. There were approx 60-70 caravans etc .Sadly the bakery was not yet operating but the was a Gunfire breakfast.Di's father was born there in 1916.The cache container is dry but the cylinder has a split in it.
found while on a roadtrip with Chubly09 and Smartich0ke. logged as Tricache. had a good time exploring the town, much history to be seen here. TFTC
LATE LOG - found 19/04/2024Found with a couple of friends while visiting a few places up north. Had a great time, with lots of geocaches along the way. TFTCSigned as "Tricache" - Poisin55, Chubly09, myself
Im quite liking the style of these containers, very suitable for this locationTftc
A great detour off the beaten track, spent some time exploring the town and out to the old graveyard, many pictures later and a cache to boot, all good here still needs a replacement containerTFTC Gordon Patrick Samuel
Spent a night here on our way through and took the bikes for a ride around to check it out. The container has a hole on one side so we replaced it with that facing down but it does need a maintenance visit. TFTC
Found yesterday, when pulling into Farina to get some great pies and pasties from the bakery and set up camp for the night overnight.

Had to be quick before yet another muggle vehicle went past! We've been wanting to experience Farina when the bakery was open for ages, this was our opportunity. Indulged in way too many things from the oven.......
Hard to believe that someone would buy a hedgehog slice from the bakery and put it into the cache.... but there it was. Took it out to discourage animals. Thanks

Working our way home from a tour at Maralinga with a group of cachers, mainly from South Australia. Now there is only Geoturtle37, Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and myself. We are having a great time, visiting new, remote locations and finding caches as we go.We found the cache nice and quickly. Pleased that we were here when the bakery was open as we had a delicious brunch. Thanks for placing this cache and bringing us here.
Team Crackers, Micaparamedic, Papi4506 and I are heading back to Melbourne slowly. We are enjoying going to new places (for us anyway) and finding some caches as we go.We were with previous finders although we didn't need their help. Nice quick find. Great place for a cache, thank you.
I hadn't downloaded these caches so wasn't sure if I would be able to find them. But since I had the area open on the map page I managed to get close and find them. Just walk around in circles until the blue dot gets close to the green. Everything OK with these caches.
Thanks for placing

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Gordon Patrick Samuel for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Love this fascinating place. It has changed a lot since we were here in 2009. TFTH
Stopped here while travelling from Marree to the Flinders. We had hoped for pies and coffees, but the place was truely deserted this time of the year. The cache was an easy find, TFTC.
Nice walk from the campsite to find the second cache of the town. This town had been quite a pleasant stop on our way to Oonadatta. TFTC
Forgot to log during our visit a few weeks ago. Sadly the bakery was shut due to covid so we will need to return and try again.
Thank you for placing it for us to find. Thank you for contributing to the geo map and maintaining when required. TFTC

Spent about two hours here eating pies and walking town.
This leg of the journey saw us head from Jamestown to Alice via the Oodnadatta Track and Dalhousie Springs. I only found a few of the caches each day as I want to save some for later on when we return.
Highlights was the Farina Bakery, beers at Marree, William Creek and Mt Dare hotels, Peake mining area, fishing at Algebuckina, swimming at Dalhousie (with dingoes howling in the night) and sharing Lamberts with hundreds of mice.. and the caches too!
Sandyofthesea and I took off from Perth at the start of April to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. How good is this country!!
Gordon Patrick Samuel, I found Off the Beaten Track today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

Catching up on some logging of found caches after being in no internet reception terrain for some days. This adventure was with ilook4geo and all logs found were signed to mark our visit before all was put back as it had been found. Thanks go to Gordon Patrick Samuel for placing this cache.
Working on the backlog of caches found with goingplaces2. Not a lot of caches found as we head away from populated areas. Thanks to each CO for adding to the caching game. Cache found, log signed, job done!
We are exploring Farina for the day and found this one easily. Well camouflaged.
We found various bits of loose paper with names on in the contaner but no obvious logbook.
We have put a new logbook in a ziplock container in the cache and collected the scrap paper to pass to the CO. Otherwise all is good.
TFTC GPS
Found on yet another trip without crossing borders. Like many others overseas trips are on hold. Even interstate is hard to lan. So we are taking the time to explore and re-explore u home state of South Australia.
This one is take 2 as our first attempt was clobbered 2 days in by a sudden lockdown meaning we had to turn back home again. Two weeks later and the geohounds are back at puppy holiday camp. Our plan is Hummocks Station, Willow Waters Gorge (brilliant!), Farina, and then the Oodnadatta Track. We hope to find a few caches along the way and maybe hide a couple too. We are certainly having fun so far.

What a fantastic town this is. I have been here six years ago and the new bakery is a delight. Had time to grab this on a stop on our tour.
Thanks Mr Samuel for a nice find in remote South Australia.

We spent a fair while driving and walking around the ruins & exhibits in the area.
A welcome relief from the road as we headed from the Flinders Ranges to Coober Pedy via Oodnadatta.
Thanks Gorden Patrick Samuel

Visiting Farina for a good look around the ruins and camping overnight. Thanks for placing this cache, all in good condition.
Stopped over on our way from Leigh Creek to Marree. I walked out to retrieve this one while I waited for lunch to cook.

With not as many muggles around as usual, we were able to make a quick find as we left the area after spending the night in the campground. TNLN. Thanks GPS.
Had looked for this cache yesterday, well I didn't have any coordinates but thought there has to be one near here. Just didn't go wide enough. Cache soon in hand with gps. Enjoyed Farina stayed x2 nights. TFTC TNLN
Stay overnight at the near by camp ground and found this a a couple of other before leaving in the morning. TFTC.
Farina ist definitiv einen Abstecher wert. Daher Danke für den Cache

A quick find at GZ. What a fascinating place Farina is. We’ll have to come back sometime to explore more. Hard to believe how recently it was an active town. Tftc
On a road trip with CBC2 from Adelaide to Coober pedy via Oodnadatta track returning to Adelaide via the black top. Found many caches along the way some oh so easy and some more challenging. Thanks to all the CO s for their hides. Some took us to some wonderful places. SL TFTC
What a fascinating spot! Wish I could explore longer but the dust storm made even walking difficult. I hid in my car to complete the log before dashing back out to return the cache.
Spending some time in Leigh Creek area. Whilst touring around catch up on a couple of smiley faces.

Not too far off the beaten track, an interesting spot this town was. Cache was quickly found
Today was a massive day of driving with almost 600km of driving. We started off at parachilna and headed north to Marree. Unfortunately we got a flat tyre on the way out to a cache of Freddos but a local was nice enough to plug it for us. We later headed to lake eyre south along the Oodnadatta track before heading south to Roxby downs, unfortunately a rock was flung up by an oncoming car and shattered the rear window of the car. At the end of the day we decided to pull in at woomera for the night.

On our way to Oodnadatta Track we stopped here to have a look at "ghost town" Farina. Actually pretty sad what happened here just because of changing the track of the old Ghan railway.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who keep the area maintained.

This place has been well and truly done up since we were here last a number of years ago
We are on a 4wd/camping holiday from Adelaide to Alice Springs.
We are following the Old Ghan Railway as much as possible.
It has been interesting seeing the history of the out back and caching as we go. There is certainly a lot of history here. Unfortunately the bakery wasn't open in August.
Thank you for placing this cache.

Slowly making our way to Alice Springs, as travel can never be quick when you are geocaching, we stopped to find this one.
The bakery was closed. Nobody is coping with this news.
Thanks for placing the cache Gordon Patrick Samuel.

Quick find on our way back to real life after finishing the Oodnadatta Track.
Camped at Farina, what a spectacular little place. Excellent camping, had a hot shower and caught the bakery on its last day, so feasted on delicious freshly baked goods for breakfast. What a treat! Thanks Farina! TFTC ️

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
Heading from Leigh Creek to Farina – Just for a pie as you do.
This was a quick find in a great location I love what they have done here. Thanks Gordon Patrick Samuel

The Parrot tribe is off to the dead centre of Australia to attend the Big Red Bash.
This is a rock concert on the edge of the Simpson desert.
SA_Parrothead, Young Einstein's and H7 are in a convoy of 2 cars heading to Birdsville and back.
It is being billed as the most remote rock concert in the world and the last act will be Midnight Oil rocking it out as the moon rises.
Midnight Oil - The Dead Heart has a line - We carry in our hearts the true country.
We look forward to being a part of that.
Hooray Pasties at Farina. That dark Rye is something else

A beautiful old relic of times gone by.
On our way to Marree.
We Arrived in Marree for the Annual Australian Camel Cup.
It sounds like it should be a lot of fun.
A beautiful sunrise to start the day with some beautiful clouds above to give a stunning photo opportunity over the desert sands.
The quaint olde outback country town has certainly come to life this Cup weekend.
We found your cache tucked away nicely and with signing duties done and dusted we replaced the cache as found.
Thanks for sharing this interesting spot, it’s been great looking around the old township remains,
the old post office, police station and underground bakery was definitely well worth the visit.
Finding out about the wonderful rich history of the local and pioneering characters from the district has been very interesting.

Too much to choose from at the bakery. The sausage rolls are amazing.
