out and about on a mission found and signed log at 09.30am an easy find plenty of troubling history around this place but interesting,TFTC
Great Northern escape 2022 Day 102. Bowen to Proserpine. After a relaxed start,I drove down to Proserpine along a section of Bruce Highway that had road works nearly all the way. I managed two of the three I had planned for the trip and then setup camp at Proserpine. I spent the rest of the morning visiting the caches around town and out towards the airport. After lunch I went for the drive to the dam. Tomorrow will be Airlie beach.
I remember visiting this spot before. I wonder if I failed the cache then or is this is a new one ? Today I was able to see the cache without any problems, but had to find a tool to extract it. I hope it is not in too far now.
Thanks for the cache Blain-Fam

So today, I have left my Townsville Mega week long event, lol, and started my trek home. I still had a few that I wanted to collect on the way and again had no real set plans. I did want to revisit ones I did not find on the way up due to cache blindness or maybe because they were not really there. I grabbed a few and then just before I got to Mackay I realised I had time to do some of those letterboxes off to the west, so I headed out there.
This one I missed doing on the way up not sure as to why, it was an easy find today. a nice drive out and a nice monument.
Thanks for placing it here, a nice place to stop (twice) and refresh. With log signed and cache replaced as found, it was onto the next misfit.

We are staying for the day at Proserpine van park, which enabled us to do some of the outer town caches . Signed log and returned to its hide.. We didn't know about the army camp that use to be here. Tftc.

Have been here before and thought we had done it but must have forgot to log it.

On the second leg of a GC trip with Drennostar on our way to a wedding. Today we are heading towards Bowen.
What an interesting site! We had no idea what this site would be about, so we're quite surprised to read the plaque.
I looked in the right spot, but thanks to the sun didn't see the cache. Drennostar had a look before we were about to leave and saw it. Thanks for bringing us here!

Found it with pippahicup. Surprised there's not a cemetery as well, after reading the plaque.
Logging old caches originally found with alphag_25. Now have my own account and logging them separately so that I can claim the finds.
Grey Nomads travelling around Australia - more recently, just Queensland, and of late, heading up the Bruce. Today with our snail firmly attached to the tug, we started north towards Airlie Beach - with a few diversions.
So much World war 2 history up here with a bonus cache. And a banana stall at the start of the road. Thanks for the hide Blain-Fam.

Found it with great excitement as other nano's in Airlie having trouble finding!!!
Interesting history.
Interesting history.
Inevitably on a long trip when many geocaches are being found, some get missed. Unfortunately, at the time, this was one of them. So, although out of chronological order, I am logging them today for simplicity. So my apologies for the generic log and the out of date sequence.
Our trip commenced on Friday November 28th and concluded on Tuesday December 22nd. During that time, we visited caches in Maryborough, Childers, Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Sarina, Mackay, Bowen, Townsville and Cairns, with other places in between like Proserpine, Home Hill, Ayr, Ingham to name just a few, with many wonderful single stop caches along the way.
Our party consisted of myself, hatzofff, grannysmith1947, and on occasion, youngoldfella.
Log signed and cache replaced as found. TFTC, Blain-Fam.

Day 21 and the start of our return road trip home from Townsville to the Gold Coast with hatzofff, grannysmith1947 and RoddyC.
This was certainly worth the trip to find this little one, thanks CO for bringing us here.

A good detour here
Not just for the history,
but for the change of pace from the highway
It's so relaxing cruising through the cane fields at 60 k's,
enjoying the scenery [^]
Not much to see of the original camp,
but the memorial is worth stopping for,
and trying to imagine what happened here all those years ago
TFTC !!

We have come to places we did not even know existed. Thank you for this history tour. WOW a Chemical Warfare Research Station. A little shocked. TFTC
Thanks you for the cache. Took the little detour on the way north. Nice to learn something new.
Was a great find! Could not see if for a second and had to look again just to be sure! Don't forget to bring a pen for this one!
Extracted the little sucker and took time to read with interest where this cache has bought us. Thanks
Lord Rust is looking at maintaining a regiment in case of another incident with Klatch. Bloody stupid if you ask me. Just what I need is a bunch of lunatics armed to the teeth running around the city.
It was great to read about the wartime history of this place. Thanks for the cache
It never ceases to amaze me how many interesting places I've been to and how much I've learnt as a result of geocaching. This is one of those places ... in pre-caching days, I very much doubt that I would have diverted off the highway just for, as the sign says, a "WW2 memorial", and so I would never have learnt that Australia tried to get into the chemical warfare game back then.
Thanks for bringing me here Blain-Fam, a stop that was actually made even more interesting because I got to watch a train driver switch at the rail crossing. The train driver going on duty had driven to Gunyarra from wherever his base is and the train driver coming off shift then hopped in his mate's ute to drive back base. The funny part was that I had already seen the ute, at a rest stop 30km back down the highway towards Mackay ... I can only assume that the ute driver stopped to ring the train driver to work out where they would meet up for their changeover.

On a quick trip down the coast for a rugby game I thought I'd pick of a few caches on the way.
I am very aware of this area and its previous usage. I used to be in the Army and often disposed of unexploded munitions in NQ. This was an area we never wanted to be called to due to the chemical nature of the testing.

A quick easy find. Who knew Australia was experimenting with chemical warfare? Enjoyed learning the history. T4T$
Interesting little reference to a bloodsoaked period in the World’s history. Found the nano pretty quickly and extraction was fun. Thanks for this sneaky cache
This is what we like about geocaching... learning about and seeing things we would’t have otherwise known about. All is good with the cache here.
Thanks heaps for showing us Blain-Fam.

Wow!! Chemical warfare agents?! Who'dathunkit??
Easy find, even though we were accosted by the neighbours dogs. Didn't sign. Thought we'd leave it where it was. Another great little find that you wouldn't usually go to. TFTC.

need tiny fingers. So hard to get it out. Lucky was plenty of sticks on the ground.
Retrieving this was a bit tricky, glad we had our TOTT found signed log and returned...TFTC
Heading north for a week of sailing and relaxing in the Whitsundays for our 30th anniversary. Of course we had to cache along the way.
On our way home after a fantastic week on "Lazyitis" and some wind, rain and thunderstorms.

Quick one ! Logbook full and I don’t have any replacement. TFTC Greetings from Montréal Canada
Took a detour off the Bruce Highway so as to grab this cache. Wet miserable day for it, but the rain subsided enough for me to find the cache.
Log is full and needs replacing.

A chance to visit a place in N Queensland where I have not been before. And added to that the joy of being able to find a few geocaches, this was one of them.
Fascinating insight to a little known fact about Australian military activity during WWII. Thanks for this.
A relatively straightforward find once at GZ. I do observe thought that the dreaded nano cache is very popular in these parts. Why so, I wonder to myself?
Cache in order.
Log signed, then cache re-hidden safely, just as found.
TFTC and greetings from NZ.
I visited here with teamcacher zboywonder.
The Turtle strikes again!

TFTC took a bit to get it out this time but we persevered. Great to learn about the chemical warfare here too. Very interesting.
We were out and about with C Yeo Later and Trek4ward and decided to drop in to this place to look at the site. There wasn't too much to see, but I said to the family, there should be a geocache here, so of course the geocache we found! Can't quite remember with my foggy brain, but I have a feeling the log may be all full now.
As I was ahead of Frullet to our geo day in Mackay i pulled in here for a log

Thanks for bringing us to this interesting location and for the history behind it. TFTC
Made the short detour off the hwy to grab this one. Quickly found and retrieved with the tool at GZ. Passed through lots of canefields to get here and even saw a wedge tail eagle. Thanks.
Lovely location to respect those that once sheltered here.

Naomisart and I Found it. Unfortunately we were unable to sign it as it has fallen to far back to be able to retrieve. I have attached a photo as evidence.
TFTC. We were unable to sign the log as it was out of reach. This cache needs maintenance.
On our way to Eungella National Park, bineundyves, Regina32 and me found nice caches. TFTC

Thankyou for the fantastic information in your cache notes. We sometimes go down the roads that have the brown signs but not always. This is one we had not been down. SL TFTC
