#4254 A puzzle that had been solved quite some time ago that was in an area I still hadn’t been. The e-bike was a great steed to make this area much more easy to take on.
A few hours spent out here in total and a quick find at GZ for this one. Cheers TE.

This puzzle was solved during lockdown with some significant assistance. A gloomy day but perfect for riding around the back of Stromlo; a short, fast ride in to near GZ then a walk for the last 80m or so.

Cache was quickly located at GZ in good condition, along with great views (sorry, 'sights'). Wow - first finder for the calendar year! This is a great spot that doesn't get the crowds of the MTB side of the mountain.

Thanks, Tankengine! A favourite from me for the adventure and the view.

This has sat on my unfound list for way too long. I've printed out multiple copies over the years and pondered possible solutions with pencil and eraser. Never really getting past it. With lockdown and a 5km ring to empty this had to be solved. Time to call for help. A big clue had me back on the correct path.
Back out walking today in my new favourite area I was able to make the find. Great views and interesting area. Looks like it was more than just a pine forest.
Cache in great condition. Wattles in full bloom and beautiful blue skies. Great day to be out. Thanks TS for the hint and the cache.
Included photo of big old tree nearby.

It's been a while since I've got out for a walk, too busy at work even my lock down hour a day of exercise I haven't been able to manage!

So today with GreyHams we managed a quick loop, this was the cache I was wanting for a puzzle find for the day. A lovely walking day, very peaceful and we made it back just in time!

This has been solved for a while now. Something that I needed a key word to put me on the right track... a little trial and error and soon enough out popped the numbers! I really liked this puzzle, simple really once the in is found!

Thanks for the cache Tankengine, found without issue being on the coordinates as expected and in good condition.

Had a lovely 59 minute walk with Aquilus1 around Stromlo picking up a bunch of hides. We were lucky really, we jogged most of the way back to stay within the hour limit for exercise and only just made it.

Ahhhh, Lisa did the solve on this one....it had eluded me for ages

Collecting a few cache smiles around Tharwa and TNR on a gloriously sunny ?? winter’s day after all the rain of late.

All logs in good condition unless otherwise noted.

Thanks to COs for placing and maintaining these caches

I have been confident with my most recent set of coordinates for this puzzle for a while now, but haven't had the time to make the walk and get back out here to check. I have looked at this puzzle numerous times and came up with several options, which I had dismissed on previous visits.

I had a bit of a walk ahead of me today but hoped this was the final straw of this cache! And when I reached GZ, saw the cairn, and then the cache almost immediately as it was uncovered, I rejoiced.

TFTC, covered the cache back up as I assume it should be, and made the hot walk back to the car.

P.S. Cache is a micro bison tube, not a small as listed

Miss Stormcatcher solved this one (somehow) a while ago and it has been on the radar asking to be found. The conditions were much cooler and allowed for a nice evening stroll out Stromlo backyard.
Amazingly the cache was located and we enjoyed the red firey sunset

We had been trying for a long while to work out this cache puzzle but with little luck. The CO gave us a hint and it was quickly resolved a few weeks ago. Wanting a lazy day we decided to walk around a few caches within Canberra and this was one of them, We walked just over 4km in 1.5hrs with total ascent and descent of 148m. This time included collecting most of the new series nearby and spending more than 30min looking for one that ended up being a DNF Sad(

Quick and easy find with very good views at GZ. TFTC Tankengine.

After a day of virtuals, letterboxes, a multi and some traditionals it was time to grab some mysteries and this was our last hike. Terrain 2.5 hmmm Tankengine must be a machine Wink

I had a lot of fun trying to figure out this puzzle but got nowhere despite the number of attempts. Finally I got in touch with the CO and received some very helpful advice on the process required. With that in hand the coordinates fell out nicely. A very pleasant bike ride in a familiar area. TFTC

Some large nudges and a big push from the CO and I had something that made sense. A great puzzle that I over worked. Great views from GZ today. Now back to the downhills.

17,388. Found during a warm walk around behind Mt. Stromlo.

With the un-found cache count out here up to 5 it was time to knock them off. With a few days extra off work I was keen to grab a few more caches before going back to work. Parked at a very familiar place and walked in. After the previous cache I headed over to my calculated coords and was rewarded with a cache - cool ! Signed the log, replaced the cache, enjoyed a nice rest in the nearby shade, then headed off to the next one.

Thanks Tankengine !! Two down...

Found at 10:32:00 AM

Popped out this morning to walk the dog. I solved this a while go with help from FoxInJox after taking a few wrong turns!!

This morning there was a large eagle in the tree at the intersection which I managed to get some good images of. However I dropped my brand new phone in the process and cracked the screen, which I only discovered later. And now at home it wont work at all. Much too brittle for such an expensive phone!

Anyway, I found the cache alright, but I think the size is wrong on the cache page. I would definitely call this a micro. Lovely views.

Thanks Tankengine

10499 and 8th of 9 found today.

I've puzzled over this one so many times I was in danger of becoming a raving lunar-tic. Although that's probably my normal state, a sunny disposition is on display in rare instances. SO today the penny dropped and the answer was right in from of me - nice

So out and about to start seriously (or semi really) trying to clear out the 5km radius and this one had to be done. And because it was there were a couple more that have been taunting me that I could also grab.

Thanks for the cache Tankengine and the duplex.

So a few months ago I get a note from another geocacher about this puzzle. If I recall he was on the edge of despair. Well, maybe not despair, but it's good for the story. I was sitting on my bed in a Sydney hotel room at the time - there wasn't much other space!! I opened up the cache site - ahhh, a maze. I like mazes.

Now often these puzzles take forever....but sometimes you look for a path with a different frame of mind and out pops the answer. This was one of those moments. I had a smidgeon of a hint from the emails between the geocacher and the CO, which helped my thinking.

But I then put the cache on my Solved List and only noticed it again when I checked up options for today. I parked the car as close as I could, picked up some other caches on the way and soon arrived at GZ. The hint was good, as I avoided some unnecessary dismantling! Soon the container was sighted and the log signed. A nice D/T combo to get. The other geocacher might come along and get it too...one day!!! Thanks TE. A favourite, because it's a maze (I like mazes) and a clever idea.

Had looked ....and scribbled ...... and looked .....and scribbled ........and looked (you get the picture ?) so with a firm view in mind , in a wibbly wobbly sort of way, we thought what if ..... and then subtracted the number we both thought and then took the high road then the low road, all the while whilst whistling our best marching tunes and then lo and behold, the little blighter was in our hot little hands and we admired the views and I said to Sol, "That, is how it is done !

Got 'im this time......Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

A bit more looking and a bit more supposing with young Basil and we came up with another set of numbers......not that those ones did much good, but yet another set...you know, just in case....worked a treat. Quite satisfying to grab this one and cross it off the list. Hung around at GZ for a few moments enjoying the view before heading off for AB to grab a third one out this way, and then the long walk back to car.

Thanks Tankengine....persistence pays off with some puzzles. Favourite point for the adventure.....

Out and about in the area today, but alas, it wasn't to be......but looking at the puzzle again once at home, there may be light at the end of the......maze?

Thanks Tankengine.......will try again no doubt.

The second on a nice day walking around Stromlo. Now this puzzle proved to be a problem for me. I think I had lost my mojo a little as I was struggling with other puzzles at the time and juggling it with doing the ever increasing amount of school work. Everything I tried just didn't seem to work and the CO continued to tell me it was "easy" and that he couldn't believe I hadn't gotten it yet. I guess it must have slipped through the gaps of my knowledge. FTF came and went and I asked the CO for a hint. I thought I had already tried that! Well, maybe not the way that was necessary to solve the puzzle. After a bit of manipulation, I had a good looking set of coordinates.

After solving the puzzle, all that was required was to find the cache. That proved more problematic as my spare time decreased. Today, it was at the top of my hit list. After a bit of a walk from the previous cache, still being pursued by flies, I arrived at GZ to begin my search. I eyed off the cairn and its multitude of hiding places but then read the hint and discovered the real hide! I am glad I didn't have to go digging through the cairn to find the cache. Log signed and cache replaced. TFTC Tankengine!

(557) Found with Miskit on a warm afternoon. We walked to GZ from where we parked the car, and it was a very pleasant walk. Good exercise.

TikvaNZ has already described in his log some of the discussions we had when we were trying to solve the puzzle. I wish I'd been able to join him for the first-to-locate attempt. I get so precious few of those opportunities.

TN LN SL.

Tks TE!

My mission today was to attempt a FTF on this puzzle cache. ZQX, Winterdragon & I began collaborating on this one. At first glance it looked straight forward, but we soon realised there was more to it. We bandied ideas around, some quickly discarded. I came up with a possibility that seemed reasonable, but the logic was pretty loose. A mission was plotted for this morning, but the others were not able to join me (and they had been successful on a FTF mission yesterday) so it became a solo mission. I arrived at 'GZ' but there was no cache to be found. Some on the fly tweaking of the co-ords while wandering around soon revealed a likely spot not too far away. This time the cache was immediately found. Woohoo. TFTC.
