Day 41 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today we leave Rotarua and head North. We had enough time to enjoy a few caches as we travelled, including this special spot. Nice viewThanks for contributing to an amazing holiday.
Day forty one of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Traveling between Rotorua and the lodge in the middle of the Timber Trail. We start our ride tomorrow. We did a few caches on the way here.A very nice view from up here.Been a while since I have seen a hide like this, always enjoy them. Thanks, Robmc.
This was an easy find. Clue and activity posts helped. What a great view from the outlook. TFTC
Coolest find. Creative and easy to just walk past it like I did. I came to the log and yes its out of place. So cool.My first cache and I was born down the road. Thank you for this
Saw the logs and looked for something out of place. The hint gave it away and found it within the first 5 minutes but very creative! definitely a favourite point for us tftc!

(# 8658) As it is a long weekend in Wellington I took a caching jaunt up to the Waikato and Bay of Plenty with TwigNZ, NZ_B and Itchyfeet2020. Stayed in Tokoroa which was the centre of the caching universe for this weekend. Today we are heading back home to Wellington.Came up the hill and saw something out of place. Nicely constructed.Logs were either signed MINT (being our initials) or Mr-Mcgoo.Thanks jslove1342 for bringing me here.
Having taken Friday off as leave, and with Monday being Wellington Anniversary, I am making the most of a 4-day weekend by spending it with friends in the Waikato in order to try to target a few specific caches up here and otherwise boost my numbers for January. Our crew consists of Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B and myself TwigNZ, and so to save space on logs we simply signed our finds today with either MINT or Team MINT depending on log size.Sadly, all good things must come to an end, and today it's the big drive home. NZ_B is making her own way home, so it's just the 3 of us in my car today. The route home is quite a convoluted one in order to stop for a very specific cache after which we meandered our way through King Country and then to rejoin SH1 at Waiouru. As has been the theme of this whole trip, a great deal of driving has taken us to a lot of beautiful places which make me want to come back and spend a lot more time at. One of the joys of geocaching for me is that I get to see places that I wouldn't have thought to visit otherwise, but often you just get a 'taste' of a place because you're rushing off to get another cache somewhere.I don't get to visit Taumarunui often, and had not been up to this lookout before so that was a nice surprise. There was no-one else around so we were able to have an easy search, and it didn't take me long to spot something of interest, which turned out to be the cache. No issues to report here and we soon had our names entered before the whole thing was replaced as found. Thanks for setting this one up. Gets a FP from me.
Team MINT (Mr-Mcgoo, Itchyfeet2020, NZ_B & TwigNZ) were up in the central north exploring, targeting oldies and fun caches. Today, Wellington Anniversary is the day for heading home with the McGoo Machine and Twig-a-nator, choosing the western side of the lake. It's a hot day, but caching does not stop for anyone. We stopped by here on our way, not sure what to expect - we had anticipated a different type of cache, but loved it. Perfectly named. Thanks for a fun cache jslove1342.

Day 15: Through the Forgotten WorldTodays journey was a challenging one, leading us through the Forgotten World Highway through to Stratford and onwards to the Taranaki Region. We were sidetracked by the closure of the Tarangakau Gorge for most of the day, so we detoured through some back country roads in the rain. Truly an adventure, and not without a few caches despite the desolation of the landscape around here. Thanks for all the caches that made this adventure even more interesting. (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache:First cache of the day as we left Taumarunui on this leg of the journey. The hills were thick with fog when we were here and we enjoyed the view while I hunted this down. Very clever cache, but I knew it was it the moment I spotted something amiss. TFTC!
I escorted my walking companion up the hill to the hospital to get an infected toe looked at, so during the triage wait I wandered further uphill to check out the view ( and heck, why not check out the geocache that just happens to be at the same location?).Well it turns out that there is not just a water view on offer but a panoramic view of most of the township from GZ. Nice one. After taking a few happy snaps I turned my attention to the hunt and before long spotted something that didn't seem quite right. Upon closer inspection I soon had log in hand. The log scroll is full but I managed to find anough space by the bottom on the edge to get my name in.. this is certainly a well visited cache.Good hide and good view, my thanks to jslove1342 for hiding one here, good to get a smiley while in town.-- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --9
I had signed up for an event called 'The Mudder' in Marton, at the Rangitikei Farmstay, and thought that it was the perfect excuse to take a couple of days off work and go on a 5-day road trip to Whanganui and Palmerston North. All up I travelled 1,650km and found over 200 caches/ad lab stages mostly targetting high favs.Nice and quiet up at the viewpoint, which meant I could take my time to search. Didn't actually take too long to spy something that I had previously seen and my hunch proved correct.
Very sneaky cache. Noticed something was out of the ordinary and there it was. Fav point from me.

Hiked up to this cache on a sunny day and was rewarded with great views and a fun cache. Deserving of a FP!

Passing through the area today I thought its about time I attempted this cache.
I parked up and spotted what looked like a way to get to the path - turned out it was the slightly overgrown path, so up I went.
As soon as I got near to GZ I heard a lawn mower and sure enough there was a council worker mowing the area (using a remote control mower which was cool), so I had to wait him out.
This gave me plenty of time to look through some logs, so once the coast was clear I dived in, quickly identified the hide and was heading back down the hill soon after.
No views today as it was to foggy, but a great cache. Thanks for setting this up

We were doing the nearby earthcache when I spotted a track up here and realized that it gave us access to this cache as well, so up we went. A very confusing track with lots of forks and little signage, but still a nice bush walk. Great spot for this cache, and I loved the camo. Has to be a favourite, TFTC
Wow what a view! Well played on the camo!!!! A fav point from me and Piwaka54. Have put in a new sheet of waterproof log paper. Love the mushrooms up here too.
First time in Taumaranui and what a cool cache! First log for the cache in 2023 (log needs to be changed)
Took us ages to find but glad that we didn’t give up even with the rain.
Thanks for the cache!

A nice little cache hide here, if a little tricky to get to. Nice view from up here too. TFTC!!!

Spent a bit of time looking around till the rain started coming in, sadly we didn’t find it but will definitely be back when Taumarunui gets some nicer weather
Stopped by here this afternoon as I thought I'd give this cache a go. It took me a while but then I had an 'aha!' moment and then quickly had the log in hand. I think I may have filled out the last spot. Anyway the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its place all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. It definitely gets a favorite point from me. TFTC!
Been a busy 4 days at Whakapapa Village campground, have done part of the Tongariro Crossing with rustynz on a beautiful clear day, have walked to Taranaki Falls and back with rusty in the pouring rain, have dined in The Chateau for scones, cream, jam and hot tea, have gotten an ftf with FMZ on rusty's cache, have done some smaller walks with FMZ and rusty. Have slept in a lounge on a couch by a hot fireplace which I kept going with dry timber at our place of stay.
But time to head home, but not before seeing this cache, I picked it our randomly not realising it had many FP's. Took me a few minutes of looking before I spotted it, nicely done.

Have been hoping to call in for this one for quite a while now and no road works on the way up to here was the incentive I wanted. Luckily as it was so stormy I had the place to myself and was able to get down and dirty to make the find. All good here and placed back as found, nice hide here, there's one similar in 'Pupu springs in South Island. Cheers jslove1342
After a good week away from my new workplace in both Whangamata and then at home in Auckland it was time to head back down the line to Manawatu. Problem is, there's a 'bit of weather' going on outside, In fact the artist formerly known as Cyclone Dovi is weakening over the North Island n=but wow, what winds there were at home before I left with bins blowing over, the door off the BBQ cabinet whizzing across the garden and leaves being distributed all around. The trip South was interesting to say the least with branches down all over the place and even a tree across most of the road South of Te Kuiti. A steady drive back as in no rush and stopped for just the five caches as it was also pouring down for the latter part of the trip. Thanks to the COs for helping me break it up a little.

I'm on a trip with my Mum and two youngest children. We're doing a quick tour of the North Island. We walked around the rim of the Waihi gold mine and stayed in Tauranga the first night. Stayed at Lottin Point then we headed to Gisborne before driving down to Napier. Turangi was our next destination before heading to our old stomping ground Palmerston North. We came via Whanganui and Hawera to New Plymouth the other day. Yesterday we came to Taumarunui via the Forgotten Highway. Today is a quick dash down to the Raurumu spiral before going up to Waitomo Caves. Then we're heading back to Auckland for a few days with family, the long awaited 2020/2022 Mega then home to Whangarei.
I took my monopoly photo this morning in Taumarnui. I had been hoping to complete the Tauranga, Gisborne and Taranaki TMGT tours but I gave up. They were often too far out and the family weren't keen geocachers.
We went up to the Raurimu TMGT cache as I'd seen a video of the train on Facebook of Rex's visit here which inspired us. We parked up and walked the last bit but a 4wd could have driven all the way. We went further down to see the tunnel too and on our way back up we heard a noise. A maintenance truck was coming along the tracks. Very cool to see it. Quite a bit of huffing and puffing for this 50 year old to run up the hill to see it come around the top bit of the spiral. It was definitely a great place to see things.
We headed back to Taumarunui but I just wanted to grab this because of its high favs. Once I'd decided I definitely needed to duck and crawl it was a quick find, Thanks for the cool cache

#10,515. I am travelling north to Auckland to hopefully get the chance to do the geotour caches in Northland. COVID lockdowns and travel restrictions have twice thwarted my travel plans. So stayed overnight in Taumarunui and decided to have another crack at this one. My previous attempt ended in failure. I have read a lot of logs and looked at pictures for spoilers. This time I was prepared to get down and dirty if necessary. Arrived at GZ very early in the morning and all good. No muggles. Wandered around then scrambled in to have a look. Good move. Saw something that seemed out of place and was elated to realise it was the geocache. Nicely hidden. Signed the logsheet and replaced as found. Thanks jslove1342 for hiding such a devious cache here in Taumarunui. Favourite awarded.
Olala. Nice little view point even with low hanging clouds. Great hide and took us a bit. We searched high and low and definitely rattled many a screw. Wilbywarrior found it and then let me have a go as well.

Spent a few minutes searching until we spotted something that looked a little out of place. Further investigation and the cache was found. Coords spot on for my GPS. Favourite point from me.
Malinkaly and I planned a road trip to go to the MEGA but Covid has postponed the event again. We decided to continue on with our planned journey making adjustments as we go with the ever-changing travel restrictions.
Greetings from Dunedin!

Almost gave up on this one then hubby spotted something and mentioned it but dismissed it. I insisted he go and check it out and thankfully it was the cache! Great hide, very well done TFTC
That was quite a tricky little cache! Almost gave in, but logic came in to play and there it was. Tftc
Heading down with Stik-a-crane to National Park to do the Tongariro Crossing. We stopped on the way to get some caches. Thanks for placing this cache
In the area today with another team member heading to National Park to walk the Tongariro Trail, but had to locate just a few on the way down....this was the thirteenth of what added up to 14 for the day..... the extra was for Uncle Sam.

Thanks jslove1342 for the cache. It’s #1378 for us. We found your cache on 17 February 2021. Second visit today. Came last night but it was very windy and cold so we flagged it. Quick find this morning though. Nice hide. FP from us.
Took a while, then had the aha moment and spotted it from the other side. Nice cache. TFTC jslove1342.
Day 4 of a 10 day road trip round the bottom half of the North Island, and today it was New Plymouth to Owhango.
We weren’t going to go the Forgotten World Highway until it was mentioned to us by our hosts in N.P, so we did some research and thought that would be the way to go.
Pretty cool drive, would be frustrating in parts if you were stuck behind slow traffic, but we did not have that problem with a few regular cache stops. Whangamomona is a real treat of a town - great pub, and you get the feeling there is a great community spirit out here.
Really enjoyed it, great weather, and no problems with any caches, apart from adding some log paper. Thanks all COs.

Out at Taurmarnui for a holiday. Decided to do some geocaching because I have found most ones in New Plymouth (Where I live). Sadly didn’t have enough time to find the cache since I am going back to New Plymouth today.
A nice little stop on our North Island road trip, this one took us a bit longer than it should have, a couple of nearby muggles had us extra cautious got there in the end. TFTC
had a muggle friend with me today, she was good enough to go for this one, i just said try slowly, when i was sure i told her to go for it, tftc
We decided to head away for a few days in the camper and do some geocaching. One of our aims was to travel the Forgotten World Highway. In between rain showers we kept circling around and around, looking for something, anything, that looked out of place. Eventually we were just about to give up when Mr S spotted something. Could that be it.? Yes that’s it. Well done. Have a FAV.
Thanks jslove1342.
Thanks jslove1342.
We went round and round and eventually found said cache in a cracker of a spot (that isn't a clue) well done, tftc
Returned with another pair of eyes and with a hint from the co. And cache was in hands pretty soon after. Thanks. Great view here today. A favourite point from us.
This one took me a little longer than it should as my GPSr kept sending me out onto the lawn. I finally gave up and began searching without it. After that the cache was quickly found. A great cache that gets a Fav from me for both container and location. I may have to steal this idea. TFTC
. Down here for the weekend doing the rail trail. Time for a couple of caches. Enjoyed this one. The view and the cache TFTC
My last DNF for 2019. I am sure there will be plenty more to come in 2020. I had the place to myself so after 10-15 minutes looking under, around, beside and everywhere I could not see any object that fitted with the hint. Cache blindness no doubt but its a tricky mother. Might need to secure an extra hint to make this one worth looking for again on my next trip through Taumarunui.
Scouting out Taumaranui before heading south today. Checking out Water View. Hay had one of these yesterday so QEF today. cheers
Day 17 - Sunday 29 December. Taumaranui through to Hawera today. So lets go!!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Nope. Don't remember this one .
I have lost my notebook! When I go on a geotrip I record my finds and notes in a log book or, in the case of this big circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki that Taybeedragon and I did over Christmas, in three notebooks. And I have lost notebook number 3 - 29th December onward. Luckily I enter the caches as found on the GPS (helps with avoiding backtracking) so I am using my GPS log to identify which caches I found/DNFed. Alas, however, no cache notes. So it is now March - and I am relying on memory. A fickle thing, memory. I suspect most will have no notes above. Sorry, folks.

I didn't initially see the cache so I head scratched for a bit but as soon as I saw the cache I instantly knew it was the cache. Cool hide and the first I have seen of this kind in the flesh. Beaut view from here and a great location to take cachers to - well done!

After two visits and an extra hint from the CO last night (thank you) we are reluctantly beaten.
We have been over and under the viewing platform several times now as well as the two picnic tables and an adjacent fence.
We binned the old broken cache to remove the temptation of using that as our find.
We may have a third go in the morning.

It was time to assemble Team BOP as I hadn't seen these crazy people since the Mega. The plan was Taranaki via the Forgotten World Highway and we were all pretty excited about it. It was a big couple of days so forgive the cut'n'paste logs as I'm logging retrospectively and a few of the hides are blurring together. TNXPro, McJandals, Davidson Clan & myself signed our logs individually or as TEAM BOP depending on time, log space or mood.
This cache was neat but we were getting a little worried as the lookout seems to have had a little upgrade and we were starting to wonder if the cache had been lost in the renovations. But it hadn't - a favourite from me - a tricky one to get, cheers jslove1342, TFTC

Wow. A def fp. Thanks Found using Cachly app and logged using the text template, so please excuse generic logging in advance. On a spur of the moment roadie with Phillip.Perry, TNXPRO and Davidson Clan from the Bay of Plenty, a plan was hatched and here we are. Heading down country we stopped off to find a few caches. We headed up the hill to have our picnic lunch and find the cache. As we had the place to ourselves we searched the area and located a broken old cache container. After lunch we realised that this was not the cache and after a brief search we located the "real" cache. Great spot for a picnic with nice views.
Great hide, we hunted a for while after out waiting some muggles. Gets a fave from us always enjoy these types
Out this way doing the Forgotten World Adventure rail cart tour. Spent a rather great weekend clicking along 142km of rail track in a golf cart from Okahukura over to Stratford at 20km/hr. Weather was off and on again, but did not damper the experience. Amazing way to see this area and get into reaches that you’d not normally expect to see. I came back from Stratford on the Sunday night and after staying an extra night in Taumarunui decided I would chance a quick find before departing back down to Wellington. It was a very foggy morning when I headed up here so my rouse of coming to look at the view lacked credibility, but what the hell. Ended up in GZ and walking around for a bit feeling a little exposed before I took a leap in the anticipated direction, I guessed the cache was. After a smirk I found what I was looking for and soon had the log signed and was on my way. Found the decoy old cache nearby looking rather sad, but a good distraction for those only giving things a quick glance. Thanks for bringing me up here. Hopefully the view is better for the next cacher.
TFTC........Staying at an Airbnb close by so came to get the cache, was tough for these old folks to get to GZ.... visiting from Sask. Canada.
It was a watery view today! Done in the rain. Found the cache and a click clack box with goodies - maybe the original cache?
First geocache I’ve logged in a very long time. And thanks to a keen pair of younger eyes spotted something worth checking out and find the log... signed and returned... thanks for the cache
Clearly did not look hard enough, but this was a solo effort as the other two don’t go cycle touring. However, good views from go. Worth the walk.
Stayed two night some biking today.
Thanks the last of the cache in Taumarunui. Three DNF ( I’m sure 2 were there) and 13 found.
Thanks for all those that placed cache here.

3235 After dropping off a fridge to my brother I was clearing caches in the town today. I have not spent much time in Taumarunui so came up here to view the water. After about 5 minutes I spotted the cache hide and soon had it in hand. There were no water visible today . Some of the town was visible though from GZ today. Thanks for the placement.

This has been a trip that has been planned fro a few weeks with the prime objective to Jet Boat down the Wanganui River fromTaumarnui to Pipiriki the following day, but firstly we had to get there. On this trip we were heading to Mt Damper, through to "The Forgotten Highway" before heading back up to Taumarnui to clean that area out.
So setting off after work in the company of HKCB, iammrwalker and Kyb3r we headed down this way to eventually make it cross country before thinking about a bit of sleep. Signed the log as HOAC to save valuable space in the logbook
Spirits were high, concersation rediculious and plans made for future trips. By now on this trip we were deffinatly on our own and the place was all ours (it would be hours before we saw another car, and infact we only saw 3 vehicles between turning off SH3 and when we finally made it sleep time at 4.30am).
Well designed cache, strange how the dark can make places more inviting. Its now 2.15am and we ahve arrived in Taumarunui so just a chance to collect a few caches then some sleep. so far driving 300kms and been awake for 22 hours at this point.
A big thanks to all the CO's who have placed and maintained the caches in the more remote parts of New Zealand.
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache
So setting off after work in the company of HKCB, iammrwalker and Kyb3r we headed down this way to eventually make it cross country before thinking about a bit of sleep. Signed the log as HOAC to save valuable space in the logbook

I found this geocache in the company of Cats&Dragons, HKCB and Kyb3r. We were together thanks to Cats&Dragons who had organised another one of his infamous Geocaching ‘missions’. The goal was to pick up a bunch of T5 caches along the Wanganui river via speedboat. We met at his place after work on Friday night and headed out into the night taking the kind of detours only an overachieving Geocacher can appreciate on our way to Tamaranui which is how we ended up here. We signed the log HOAC to save on space and as a reference to our crazy trip together. We did eventually get to Tamaranui at about 4am after Geocaching throughout the night. We pulled the car over, got maybe an hour and a half of uncomfortable, disrupted sleep, and then set off again to meet with six other Geocachers from Hamilton and Auckland who were joining us on the boat trip. It was certainly a memorable trip.
We arrived here just after 3am. Even though it was dark the view was impressive. I took the hit for the team and scurried over to this one. Nice hide. TFTC.

We had planned a trip a few weeks ago to Jet Boat down the Whanganui River, something that had been on my to do list for a few years now, and the time had now come to head down to Taumarunui and jump on the water. However while discussing this with C&D we decided to throw in a side mission and try and locate a few caches along the Northern end of the "Forgotten Highway" including Mt. Damper Falls and finishing with a clean out of Taumarunui the night before because as C&D constantly reminds us "sleep is for the weak!".
So we set off at 5.30pm Friday night, with Iammrwalker and Kyb3r in tow heading to the first cache of the trip. This side mission turned out to be very successful with us completing everything we wanted with a few hours of darkness left to grab an hour or two of sleep before making our way to the Jet Boat. We signed the logbooks with HOAC a group caching name we use from time to time. A big thanks to all the CO's whose caches we found on this side mission.
Awesome view of the town lights from up here. Thanks for the view.

dlouho jsme ve tmě hledali a nemohli najít, geožena ji ale pak úplně náhodou objevila
nechtělo se mi k pavoukům, ale co bych kvůli kešce neudělal

I was wondering if I would find the cache when I noticed something a tad odd - and voila. T4tc
We continued our little drive around Taumarunui today signing off the odd cache here and there. Had a look at this one last night in good clothes so decided to come back today. Loved the camo.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Despite the accurate coordinates, it took us quite a while to spot this nicely hidden cache, which gets a favourite from us, although we think the terrain rating should be slightly higher. And a nice view of Taumarunui as well. TFTC
After a previous DNF and the added info "to look deeper" into the water I found the cleverly hidden cache on the way to the Turangi Mega. TNLNSL TFTC Have another FP
