More beautiful views from here, a great spot, thanks. I have headed off for a day and a half or so, planning to cache from Maldon, over to Red Bank then wending my way towards Creswick. i will hopefully be tidying up a few stragglers on my map, exploring more GCA caches and visiting at least a couple of new areas. Mountain View is find number 4,056 for me. A fun small sized traditional cache I enjoyed finding as one of my caching adventures in Pyrenees Shire. I am logging this one on Tuesday 24 Sept 2024 at 8:48 am and the weather is Overcast Clouds 11C 78% 2 m/s . Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy TeamStArnaud.*Found with [Geooh GO](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobiltal.geoohGO)*

Another nice and quick find.
This time, lovely views as the Tittle suggests.
We parked the car at the intersection below and walked the 80 odd metres to the cache enjoying the last of the wildflowers, namely, Pallagonians, Bluebells, showy small yellow flowers everywhere and the last of the chocolate Lillies.

We're out for a Sunday drive to grab a few specific geocaches and decided to grab this one as we passed. I took care of the legals while M dove down further to find a place to turn the 4WD around since we don't have the time to go exploring today.

Thanks for find #3327

After the epic trip to the last cache we found this was an anticlimax. We drove down the road we had driven a few hours earlier, realising we had passed this cache before. The coordinates were spot on as we pulled up right beside where it was hidden. We quickly jumped out and retrieved the cache, signed the log and replaced it in it hiding spot. Clerical details completed we took some time to take in the magnificent view. The cache is in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache, wildnic26 and for maintaining it TeamStArnaud

*Found on the 31 Oct 2021 @ 12:56 pm.*
*Cache find # 11898.*

This was not one of our targets but as we were driving passed it we had to stop and find it.

Today I headed out West to Mt. Avoca to tackle the hills and target of the first 500 Victorian caches.
We did have a few obstacles along the way with a number of trees down from the high winds earlier in the week, there were also a couple of tracks later in the day that we decided not to tackle in the Subaru so we did miss a couple but we got most of our target caches.
It was certainly a great day to explore the area.

**Thanks to TeamStArnaud for placing this cache.**

**Find #4752**
**Traditional Find #2970**

I headed out with Steve to Avoca to target some of Victoria's 500 oldest caches.
The weather was perfect all day but once in the bush, our progress was hindered and then stopped a number of times by branches and entire trees that had been downed by last week's storm.

**Thank-you to TeamStArnaud for placing this geocache**

A day in the Pyrenees Ranges, as the cache notes say - a wonderful mix of amazing views, trees and walks. Way back in 2009, we found a cache just up the road, so it was great to come back again.

Sean.75 mentioned earlier this week about heading out this way caching for the day. kenbryl and I decided that sounded pretty good. Next thing know we on top of mountains!! The views were amazing, sadly I didn't get any photos though because my phone battery was going down fast and I didn't have a charger with me. tftc

21-Jun-20
Its always a bonus to pick up some unlove along the way.
kenare, Sean.75 and I headed up this way for a day of caching. Our plan was to head into the ranges and have a picnic somewhere that Sean.75 had said looks good. We left home at 9am, stopped in Beaufort, because we can never drive through there without stopping at the bakery, then headed through Avoca and then up, down, up, down, around, up, down, around a bit more and then here, there and every where and even managing to go underground!! tftc

Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.

Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.

Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.

Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.

Thanks TeamStArnaud for the cache.

When making some rough plans for our weeks stay in St Arnaud, Geoturtle had mentioned that she really wanted to spend a day exploring this area. She likes looking for the old caches and the chance to practice her 4x4 driving.
At a bit of a chat last night, others mentioned that they would like to also have a look around the area so we ended up with 6 Victorians, 2 Canadians and 3 Vehicles.
We left St Arnaud at about half eight and were on our way after fueling up.
Avoca was our first stop as the bakery there has some awesome combinations and our overseas visitors had never heard of, nor tasted a snot block.
With taste testing over, we were on our way.
We had a good day with great company. Many laughs were had, caches were found and some great views and driving fun was had.
As it was getting dark and we could see rain heading our way, we chose to leave the hills behind and come back another day to complete what we didn't get to this time.
Avoca was again a place for nourishment, both food and beverage. After everyone had had a good feed, we stopped in at the Chinese Gardens and the cemetery for that "just one more" cache.
Thank you to all the CO's that made this possible. We all thoroughly enjoyed our day and we will definitely be back to look around some more.

13-Nov-19
Before leaving Melbourne, we discussed the caches that we wanted to target with OHC and I mentioned that the ones in this area were definitely on my "to do list". Quite a few of them have CO's that we know, they are old caches and we have heard a lot about them.
We had today free so with a few more friends (and two more cars), we headed to Avoca to visit the bakery after re-fuelling in St Arnaud.
Once we had finished our snacks, and introduced our Canadian passengers to the delights of "snot blocks", we were on our way into the bush.
We had a great time exploring the tracks and locating caches. There was only one road that we chose to not attempt but there were more than enough other tracks to get us where we needed to be.
We saw some great views and explored a mine shaft or two. We eventually found our way to civilisation and found a few more caches.
We watched the sky darken quite quickly and it was decided that we would make our way back to Avoca for some dinner and come back another day.
I believe we all enjoyed our dinner and we made our way to the cache at the Chinese Garden and then onto the multi at the cemetery. By the time we got to the cemetery, it was dark and drizzling which definitely added to the atmosphere of caching in a cemetery at night.
From here, we re-inflated our tyres and made our way back to camp at St Arnaud.
Many thanks to all the CO's that placed, maintain and adopted these great caches. We are looking forward to coming back here and doing the caches that we didn't have time for today.
Again, to all the CO's and today's company, Thank You for a great day out.

Find number 7695 at 5:13:46 pm
Out on a geocaching trek with seven others in 3 vehicles to conquer a few geocaches in the Pyrenees State Forest. Chasing some old caches and also some different D/T combinations.
After fueling up we departing St Arnaud at 8:30 in the morning in convoy and headed direct to the pies shop in Avoca where Kangaroo Pies and Snot Blocks were on the agenda for our international guests. We reached our first cache at 10:45 for a quick find, the start of 24 in total for the day. There was some easy driving tracks, a few missed or incorrect turns, some fairly heavy 4x4 tracks and many interesting places were discovered.
By the time we arrived back in Avoca at 6:30 pm for a counter meal at the pub most were weary and needed a meal and beer.
Somewhat revived we headed to the Chinese Garden and the local Cemetery for a couple of quick caches on the way back to St Arnaud, arriving at 9:30 pm.
Thanks everyone for a fun day!
All caches were quick finds by one or another of the group.

We CAME. We CACHED. We SAW STUFF. Eight South Australian caching teams on the prowl in Lake Victoria. We were attacked by vampire mosquitoes. We were attacked by rogue magpies. We were attacked by brown snakes. We were attacked by running kangaroos. We were attacked by publicans and cooks. In the end we got the message and went home, but not before finding lots of hidden cachey things using billions of dollars of satellites and cheap hand-held devices.

A 4 day trip from Adelaide to Everton, Beechworth and surrounds.

8 of South Australia's finest caching teams came across the border Freddo, Team Astro, The White Dog Gang, Four Fun, Unicycle, Southern Cross Caching, Shonkloic, and Team Waldron hit the bike trails and country back roads.

It wasn't nice the the mozzies were sent to defend the ceches against us but we persisted.

On the way home we visited Bendigo, St Arnaud and many towns in between.

Many thanks to all the cache owners who put out caches for us to find.

A great time was had and we left enough to make another trip worthwhile.

Smile Found on an awesome trip with the SAW STUFF boys (Shonky, Astro[me], Waldron, Southern Cross, Whitedog, Unicycle, Freddo & Four-Fun). The trip had it all including this awesome cache. There were pots and schooners (no pints) Surprised, mazzive mozzies the size of small elephants we hitched rides on Razz, realistic lizards, real live [xx(] kangaroos that got too close and uphills. Then there were bikes and pumps. There was sweat and dust but no tears. Big Grin My thanks to the group and the coordination that enabled an amazing fun filled few days that will go down in caching-lore. [^]

Enjoyed a fabulous day today under clear autumn skies in the beautiful Avoca Hills and Percydale area, in the company of Wozzle68, ST37E and the Glanville Girls.

It was at the end of the day and the light was fading as we decided to do "just two more" and drive up this easy-graded mountain road. We were still able to enjoy the views in the sunset though, and marvelled at Governor Rock as we passed it. A short walk up the hill and the cache was quickly found. Find # 2566 @ 1310 H

Time for a solo road trip, well a short one this time. Decided to head off to the Pyrenees Ranges to grab the 2WD friendly caches and check out the camping grounds.

Second time I have been up this track and if I remember rightly slight corrugations had me on edge back then too. I had a couple of moments this time but thankfully the back end of the ute headed toward the wall UP and not Down.
finally up here with a safe place to park I legged it to GZ

TFTC and another great view wildnic26

After a very enjoyable day yesterday of caches and events we again teamed up with maccamob and Mrs Coffee to find a few more caches before we went our separate ways on the way home.
We are very familiar with this area as we have a cache nearby at the look out but we were more than happy to return and check out the views again. We took the stroll, found the cache and took some photos before heading back to the car,
Many Thanks for the cache wildnic26, now off to Avoca to visit the famous pie shop.

Wow, what a view.

I once came through the tops of these hills many years ago on the back of a fire brigade tanker. Even with the smoke and destruction it was still a beautiful place.

Today just cemented into my mind the beauty of this place.

As I wound my way up the hill my eyes were on the road, but sneaking glances at the view. An amazing place.

Soon enough my GPS counted down to a strangish spot.

Odd.

I pulled up a little beyond it and walked a goat track to GZ.

A great view. I soon had the log signed and I was off.

As I drove down I noticed a Landrover Discovery off the edge of the road, some 12 metres down the embankment. Its roof was stoved in and looked like it had rolled a few times.

My heart skipped a few beats. I pulled up and quickly jumped out of the car grabbing my phone and some first aid bits and pieces. I started down the slope and noticed the police tape at the scene. Thank god. I started back up the hill happy in the knowledge that all was well, but uneasy in that I hoped that whoever in that car came out unscathed.

Reminder to keep the eyes on the road and to read the recent cache notes, as Becca85 saw the same thing!

{FTF} With 2x FTF under our belts so far we got to a dirt track shortcut to this one to find a car heading the opposite way. Figuring they may have been Geocachers we were happy to find another blank log here!
We managed to sneak this one in just before dusk. The kids (neisha07 & boo09) did not enjoy the drive up the mountain, this wasn't made any better when we came across evidence of a fallen car half way down the mountain! A quick walk at the top to grab the cache. We took in some great views before heading back down - very slowly due to an abundance of Kanga friends also enjoying the Mountain Views.
TFTC wildnic26!
