Last cache of the day and a good one to grab as I was almost 'home' and had a bit of time available. Parked safely and walked back to GZ. As per others I started at the wrong end and checked all areas with a tactile search method before finding it in the end.I have a couple of days of meetings scheduled for Weds/Thurs this week down in Wellington and headed down mid-afternoon on Tuesday. There was some shonky weather forecast and I wanted to get into the accommodation before that arrived (I did) and maybe grab a couple of on the way caches as I headed South. The next day I had to change plans as first day meeting was off so had to do some remote work in a new location. A weather window of promised atrocious weather beckoned and I seized with two wet hands and a couple of late afternoon finds before catching up with my daughter later in the day at Brewtown. Thanks to all COs.
I've been past here so often, thought 'I must get that cache...' and it was too late. Today, pulled over into the lay-by, walked back, and made a quick find. All good, tftc!
With s speed trap next to gz taking everyone's attention I set to work. A little methodical and had a decent guess at what cache would be which enabled a somewhat quick find. No one got flashed either so extra great news. Tftc!
I was here on xmas day, whilst another cacher found this one. I declined from claiming the find then so I could have a nice easy find on my way in to work one day, and today was that day.
No issues at all with this cache, which was placed back exactly as found after I signed the logsheet.
Thanks for setting this one up.

I don't think I would get this cache anytime soon as if I am biking I would never take the highway, and if I was in a car... I don't have a car, so that puts paid to that. But today Twig and I decided to take Ash for her walk up Cannon, and we stopped here. Nice easy find in the expected place. Except there are a lot of these expected places, and naturally I started at the OTHER end!
5th cache of the day after hitting the Belmont area. We parked at the information area and me and GeoKid #1 skipped back along to the sculpture. I found the cache quite quickly but did not tell GK of my success. I could see her getting frustrated so gave her a wee nudge in the right directly. What followed was not appropriate for young ears so I will not note it here! TFTC
Should have trusted my caching brain. Tired teacher on a Friday finally found it in an obvious spot I had been before. Lovely sculpture. Ignore the GPS

I've not looked at this sculpture before The carefully coated steel structure is very elaborate and should last a long time without maintenance I bet it cost a pretty penny An easy find thanks All dry here TFTC
Find #2968. I needed an adventure that would occupy the mind away from thoughts of going back to work tomorrow so chose this area, having no idea of the extent of the tracks or where they would lead me. Overall is was a very pleasant, although hot, approx 8kms (total ascent 350m) of bush tracks and caching. I say approx because at times, satellite reception was sketchy or non-existent and my tracker sent me off to spots I definitely wasn't at. I used the hints for every cache to be sure of finding them without wasting too much time, although some of them were plainly obvious. Best of all, when I got to near the Silverstream car park, the track along the base of the hill went straight back to Hayward Stream. I had envisaged having to back track the way I had come.
It was really pleasant to be able to access this cache by the bush route rather than via the road. SL TFTC

22295 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we visited Wellington mountains . Nice walk through the botanic garden, nice view on victoria mountain. Than to the 5-2000 cache on the other side of the water.
From there we dorve to Masterton, stopping many times for caches and lookouts on the road. In featherton the Locomotive museum and other caches.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Some were too humid to write clearly. Muggles did not watch what we were doing.

Out and about on a cold, windy winter's day finding caches for the Hidden Creatures Challenge. I've been meaning to stop and check out this cache for some time, but haven't had the opportunity until today. An interesting sculpture, thanks for bringing me here for a closer look. Thanks for the cache.
#5342. Been out of the game for almost 2 weeks over on the Chathams. Needed a cache find today to stop my stats going past my worst ever inactive streak of 11 days. After a short visit to Manor Park it was up the road to the Fantail. Parked in a safe area and wandered back to the GZ. Found the cache in the first place checked. Nice when it happens. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here MAC_42.
Just one more for the day as I was passing and to round the numbers up. After spending the afternoon catching up with my son and helping him move his humongous TV I was on my way for a bit of R & R with a good friend. TFTC # 11,814
Excellent cache. Never really realised this looked like a fantail until today. Straight forward find. Cache all good. TFTC
I DNFed this one some months back (and possibly a previous attempt as well) so when I was driving past on the way to Upper Hutt I made the last second decision to pull over to give this another go. I started looking in the spot the GPS was pointing me to and didn't get anywhere for a bit. It was when I checked a previous log and that gave me a bit of a clue. I expanded my search and then quickly found the cache. I'm sure I looked in the spot previously - not sure why I couldn't get it last time. TFTC
I had a big day today (seem to be doing that a lot lately). Started work at 7.30am and finished at 17.45pm. I decided to come up here to have a look for this cache on the way home.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry inside.
Thank you

I was passing by today so took the opportunity to pull over and check things out. TFTC
Was out on an impromptu caching trip to tidy up a few caches around Silverstream/Whitemans Valley. Noticed this one lurking so made a quick stop and easy find.

Had a DNF last time in torrential rain with fogged up glasses but found quickly on a nice sunny day. Coords indicated a spot about 5m from the cache but I tried a more obvious spot and there it was.
Short walk back from the nearby cache at the info kiosk. Quick find and nicely hidden. TFTC.
A nice quick find on a busy day caching through the Wairarapa on the way to the Mega in Turangi. After a quick photo of the awesome looking sign the hunt was over before it had hardly began. Glad we started here and not the other nasty hiding place near GZ. You couldve been a whole lot meaner. Thanks for the smilie
Stopped by here on my way to the upper of Upper Hutt, and despite having a good look around, could put my hands on it.
On a mission around the Keith George Memorial Park/Haywards area on a rainy Saturday.
Looked easy but went over the obvious laces with a fine tooth comb without success. Rain falling heavily so will keep an eye on this one and return if it is found again.

There's no hint and my GPS was being indecisive so I had to hunt but persistence paid off. Log signed and cache returned as I found it. TFTC
FINALLY found this one! I have been here a few times now and it has been driving me crazy, so i'm very happy to tick this one off. TNLNSL. TFTC!!!

Got out early to get through a few chores so we could go walking later on, have been driving past this many times and this time as there wasn't much traffic about stopped to log. Cache all in good order, TFTC
Nice find while out with Just-Lookin & EK.spygirl today.
Quickly had the cache located - last time concentrated on the wrong location nearby.
Think I overthought this one before!

#2302 It was such a nice day today that I decided to get out on my bike and explore some more of the Hutt. Walked down from the Info sign and quickly spotted the cache. TFTC!
A night visit while passing by for me, and the Fantail looked amazing lit up as it was, this is a lovely sculpture. No issues with the find.

We found this a month or so back and incorrectly logged it as a DNF. In passing today we called in and again signed the log sheet. TFTC
Glad we were hidden from traffic while searching for this one! Found eventually in the obvious area just not spot on the coordinates. TFTC
TFTH! First one on my way to the George Keith Reserve, taking a lovely stroll from the station! Funny how people hoot at me while I am searching, wonder why!
Not too long despite the numerous possibilities! Thank you!

A not unpleasant interpretation of a fantail. We are sure it will grow on people. TFTC
I couldn't get too enthusiastic about attempting this cache as I prefer not to be watched while I am caching. I had considered stopping on a number of occasions but the traffic seemed to always be too busy no matter what time of day it was. For reasons I don't understand, I decided to stop in the middle of a very busy Saturday afternoon and just tried to block the passing traffic from my mind. I was aware there had been DNFs but my GPSr was in total agreement with the provided coordinates and I was soon adding my name to the logsheet. It's good to remove this one from my map of close to home unfound caches.
Not sure what we were doing wrong here - couldn't find it anywhere! Feeling a bit blind! We will be back.
Cache # 3,040 - well, this one teaches us a lesson about using the GPS, as it was slavish devotion to the coordinates that led us astray. Somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes of searching before finding it in a very logical place, and one that would have been nigh impossible when I visited last winter in the dark. The cache is a good 8-9 metres out from the coordinates, and the presence of all the metal makes the GPS jump around a lot as well. Did today with Astro Hunter, and glad to have two sets of eyes to finally locate this one. TNLNSL. Cache log needs replacing. TFTC!

Found with The Wandering Dragons today. A neat place to stop. We were about to give up when TWD had wandered a long way from GZ and said "Aha!". Happy faces all around. Thank you.

Nice quick find, exactly where I thought it would be, the log is a bit ripped and I didn't have any replacements on me.
Papa Bear looked and looked with no luck, then little Bear joined in and bingo had it in his hands in no time.
We came here while doing the new Pinetops series of caches (the notice board carpark is one of three suggested for this series). The find was very easy, I did not use the GPS at all. One of the nice things about this cache is that you are hidden from passing motorists while retrieving it. Exactly why four experienced cachers with 44,000 finds between them cannot find it is a mystery, it certainly gives me encouragement to not despair when I log a DNF.
That makes two of us (or more if tmann had family with him!) or maybe we all don't need to feel so inadequate after all!
As I came out this way by train I thought I would see if this could be approached on foot from McDougall Grove without doing anything illegal and/or dangerous. There is a small but obvious (geo?)trail and just a couple of boggy spots, one of which was obvious but the other caught me on the hop literally so I ended up with muddy shoes, no other harm done. Also keep an eye out for a few brambles under foot, fortunately I didn't get caught by any of them.
GPS was jumping around initially, the sculpture appears to be perfectly designed to reflect signals!
It was a scorching hot day so I hunted around for a little while but had to give up in the end, on looking at the earlier logs I suspected I might have needed to extend my search but if someone with tmann421's experience can't find it either I have to wonder it it's still there. I might come back for a better search anyway but will choose a cooler day! (I also want to see if the trail extends far enough to do the next cache up the road safely or not.)

Wet and windy this afternoon. A quick look but no luck. Will have to come back in better weather.
A quick pick up today new years eve. Have been eyeing up since it was published as I live quite close. Today was the day. I think they have enlarged the letters! Tftc
On the way to Upper Hutt to see the small Train exhibit there we stopped here and grabbed this one. Quick and easy find but co-ords out a good 8m. Thanks for the cache. Did with Mycro Man
A quick find as we made our way northward.
What can you say? The style and engineering of this display is so so characteristic of the culture of the Hutt Valley generally. Love that aspect. One wonders what the good citizens of Upper Hutt contributed by way of their rates to see this magnificent (?) welcoming motif erected.
To be seen to be believed.
But it looks like it will last at least the next 100 years.
Cache find was straightforward.
Cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too

Log needs some attention, a plastic bag would help prevent it from further damage, TFTC
As with others, a quick and easy find. This one had been beckoning every time I drove passed and I finally took the time to stop and walk to GZ. Thanks for placing the cache here Mac. The log will need some attention soon as it's been ripped at some stage. Maybe placing it in a plastic bag inside the cache might protect it as it's withdrawn. Cheers. LNTNSL.
