Find number 14562 at 10:51:13am on Tuesday the 29 October 2024We're on our way to WA Goes Big, travelling from Croydon (Melbourne, Victoria) with a caravan in tow and making a leisurely caching holiday across the Nullarbor and back.Well, WA Goes Big is done for another year and we are on our way home again now, via Perth, Kalgoorlie and the Nullarbor but slowly over the next five weeks Today I have gone out in the morning to target my standard virtual, earthcache, wherigo, letterbox and Adventure Lab geocaches to fill in gaps on my finds per calendar day challenges, sadly all still a long way to go This is my Earthcahe done and the Wherigo nearby, now to head back to pickup Annie to take her to some Op Shops as payback **Thanks for creating this earth cache The Coffee's**---*WOW, so much happening at home in Victoria*Dont forget to log your will attend for Victorias first ever Block Party in March 2025, the [**The Sunbury Event**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).Theres also all those lists of amazing geocaches at [Geocaching Victorias List webpage]( https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/information/great-caching-lists), go check them out.
What an amazing place! Thanks so much for creating this earthcache, its so good to learn new things about our beautiful planet.
This was a great side trip! Beautiful day! A bit of wind, but lots of sun. Love the paper daisies growing everywhere.TFTEC!
On the 5/11/24 I noticed that this Earth cache was showing that I had not logged a find. I had sent the answers to the owner on the 2/9/24 while I was still on holidays. I thought I had also logged this as a find on the same day. I have checked the description and I see where the owner will delete logs if they had not received the answers within a few days. I did not hear back so I assumed the log was okay. However as I cannot remember if I had or not logged the find, I am submitting this again. My answer has a picture of myself with the dunes behind me.
An interesting place that we have never been to before. Very busy, people everywhere, sliding down dunes or just rolling down. Thanks Coffees for this Earthcache Tftc
The area reminded me off a trip I did with LaKedi to Morton Island, we slid down the sand dunes on sleds there and I reckon you could do the same here. Thanks for showing me this location and thanks for permission to log this great Earth Cache. Fav from me.
We had been here before, but well back when we were just new to caching so Earthcaches were probably a mystery to us. Today was different as wew wandered up the dune and towards GZ. After visits to deserts in Morroco (Sahara), Namibia (Namib) and quite a few others we knew what we were looking for. A great place to visit.Answers sent.Today we headed out of town to Wentworth and then worked our way back through Merbein and surrounds to Mildura. It was a clear sunny day, but wind kept the temperatures down and at time we were greatful to be in the car. Some lovely scenery was encountered from desert like scrub through farming land and the banks of the Murray. We managed Earthcaches, a Wherigo, multis and trads as well as puzzles. We also encountered a number of great cache containers.A busy but enjoyable day.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache The Coffee's.**SKI Pair****
An interesting location. We cycled out from Wentworth, experiencing the south easterly winds on the return trip. TFTC.
Wow what a great Earth cache from The Coffee's, and such fun to find. Buddy the geodog helped us with this one. Found on May 4, 2024. # 9028
Found while having a look around the area today, staying in Mildura for the week. Enjoyed our time looking around the dunes, interesting feature in the middle of nowhere. Interesting EC lesson, thanks for bringing us here. Find #6933 on 17 Apr 2024.TFTC The Coffee's!
Richmond Lad and I are making our way to Broken Hill for a few days and before the drive north we stopped for a few caches around Wentworth and your EC was one. Answers have been sent in.Thanks for bringing us to this interesting spot.
Out and about as we travel from Mildura to Broken Hill. We stopped at Perry Sandhills to do this Earth Cache. Answers sent to CO. Very impressive and thank you for bringing us to here. TFTEC
I was in the area to look for another cache. I was not aware of the existence of these sand dunes and the significance they played by being featured in so many films etc. I would like to revisit on another occasion when it is cooler so I can explore more. Thank you for the earth cache which brought these dues to my attention. Answers sent.
**This Cache**It was INSANELY HOT. Despite really wanting some of the other caches on the sand dunes, especially the old Liz & Bruce one, there was absolutely no way I could spend anymore time out here in the blaring sun! Even worse was trying to walk on sand, it is tough and slows you down / wears you out even more! Even getting to the listed coordinates of this EC as tough, but we counted down the GPS until we were there. I guess the actual location didn't have anything too special, but that is still where I took my photo and answered the questions before retreating back to the shade! You can even see in my photo that we were the only crazy ones out here in the carpark, and Dan even tucked his car half into the shade to keep the dashboard and seats out of the sun, phew! Thanks for the EC! Answers sent & pic uploaded ---**Today:**Day 1 of 2 of the trip back to Canberra! Renmark - BalranaldWe decided to take a long and tough route, specifically for a combination of old caches, an interstate Wherigo and an off the beaten track virtual cache! This involved hundreds of km's of dirt driving on Wentworth - Renmark Rd. Definitely not ideal in a very small 2WD car as we felt every bump, but at least the road was in good condition the entire way! We managed to get a handful of excellent caches and even finished the night with a bunch of brand new caches in Robinvale which was a bonus! A 12 hour day before we finally arrived at Shamrock Hotel in Balranald, where we enjoyed the best meal of the trip! A HUGE plate of Chinese for a great special price. Well worth ordering off the Chinese menu as they also did the standard pub meals but they were more far more expensive and likely more generic too! Thanks to the CO's
Great earthcache. Thanks for placing. Saw a very large dog in the sand dunes. Bigger than a German Sheppard. Photos of the tracks. Loci612 will send the answers for this cache for himself and DARKSIDEDAN.

Sydney to Adelaide Road TripDay Three: Around MilduraWeather: perfect!Answers have been just now submitted by email. I visited a spot like this (complete with Earthcache) in California where several movies had been shot , the main difference there being almost put no vegetation whatsoever. This is a remarkable spot and Im glad that I came the extra distance. Thanks for the Earthcache The Coffees. Found by The Empire + HOur journey began in Mildura, a city that had charmed us with its riverside beauty and vibrant culture. On a sunny morning, we set off, eager to explore the nearby town of Wentworth, nestled at the confluence of the Murray and Darling Rivers. The landscape transitioned from riverine plains to arid expanses. The vastness of the Outback was humbling, with its endless horizons and sparse vegetation, giving us a sense of isolation and wonder. As we approached the Perry Sandhills, the landscape transformed dramatically. Towering sand dunes appeared on the horizon, their golden hues contrasting sharply with the surrounding terrain. The sight was awe-inspiring, as if a piece of the Sahara had been transplanted into the Australian interior.Upon arrival, we wasted no time venturing onto the dunes. Climbing their slopes was a challenge, but the reward was worth every effort. At the summit, we were greeted by panoramic views of the undulating sand dunes stretching in all directions, a true desert oasis in the heart of Australia. The Perry Sandhills are a geological marvel, shaped by ancient wind and water processes over millennia. They are believed to be remnants of a vast desert that once covered this region during a period of changing climates. The sand dunes, constantly reshaped by the wind, were a testament to the forces of nature.Answers sent. Thanks for the earthcache Coffee's.- MEarthcache #394
Driving all of NSW on a week long road trip before heading home to Ohio (usa). Made the stop here to get the oldie that's also here, but since it was super cold, muddy and windy we decided just to do the EC.

It's always reading about an area retrospective of the visit that it becomes even more fascinating. We loved it here, even if it was a little too sandy to slide down today. Man did the kids get it everywhere. Still in the back-seat. That's life. Thanks for the EC here.
I love Earthcaches and visiting the sandhills was awesome. Love the colour. Even found some areas untouched with great examples of ripples and direction the sediments are moving.
Caching in the area we made our observations and have emailed our answers to the CO.
A spectacular sand dune that is worth visiting especially at this time of the year with the wild flowers blooming.
Many thanks The Coffee's for creating this earthcahe and highlighting this location. Adding to our favourites.

The JAMS crew ( all 5 of us this trip JJ52,Allister w, Mogni, Michells&hound plus Sir_Spectre ) where headed to the 3 Community Celebration events in 3 states in one day plus a side trip down Euston
( it's only 55 km from our B&B one way ) for another geocaching event then a brief sleep. Then another geocaching event before Michells&hound hosted a CITO event in NSW. Of course there was time for finding of finding caches over 60 in the first day. Thanking those co for placing them and extra, extra thanks for the co for placing the gadget/field puzzle/creative caches. I left some fav points to let you know to keep up the good work. The way home was longer than getting there since we stopped and solved/stamped some multi's and off set letter box hides. Another good weekend away for us.

A JAMS weekend away was organised so that we could attend the tri state celebration eventsa plus a couple of other events and a CITO over the two days. We had a very early start and arrived at the Berri event only a half an hour after it started. After a coffee and some catching up we headed east over to Wentworth for the next event and a few caches along the way. More catching up, an AL and a visit to the sandhills, then on to Merbein for a couple of new AL's and more caching between there and Mildura. On to the 5pm event with lots of snags and slices that went down very well. Then a night cache before heading to Euston for the last event of the day. Only had time for a drink there, then found 3 caches and finally headed to our accommodation in Gol Gol. Slept very well, then up and about making our way to the breakfast event and more catching up. Found a few gadget caches before the CITO, picked up some rubbish and then started our drive home. Still managed to get a few caches along the way.
All in all a great weekend with thanks to all the CO's and organisers of the events.
Beautiful red sandhills where we stopped and had a discussion about the answers to this EC. Answers to be sent by Mogni.

I visited this earthcache on a week-long caching trip over to NSW and Victoria from Adelaide with gridge98.
Our main targets were the wherigo and challenge cache series’ around the Yass and Goulburn areas, although we also found quite a few other Unknown, multi, letterbox, virtual and traditional caches of interest along the way. We even managed to attend an event at Sutton and did a couple of caches just over the border in the ACT.
The middle of winter around the shortest day was probably not the best time to schedule our trip, particularly as we were camping. But despite a little bit of rain one night and sub-zero temperatures on another, the weather wasn’t too bad, albeit on the cloudy and cool side.
In all we covered about 3,300 km over the week and managed almost 350 finds each.
Thanks The Coffee's for an interesting earthcache.

#13038 - 3:12:00 PM; Day 4 of the Wang Mega tour with Sol de lune. Made it to Mildura last night and after a good feed and a good night's sleep, "The Turtle Series" was our major target today. After spending most of the morning on that series, I caught up with family for lunch and some family business, before heading over the river for the rest of the afternoon in and around Wentworth. Found most of the caches we had on the 'to do' list, with a couple of DNFs as well. The sandhills were well worth the visit. Grabbed the required info and a happy snap. After some debate about our answers, Sdl sent our conclusions off to the CO who gave the OK as well as pointing us in the right direction! TFTE The Coffee's
After a couple of great days in and around Wang at the Mega, followed by a drive to Echuca, LuckyL10n and I were now in Mildura. LL has some business to attend to, however with time before and after meetings we set on the path of the 'Turtle' and other caches that we passed by.
This afternoon we headed out to Wentworth to check out a few caches....as well as checking out the confluence of the two rivers, however the bigger surprise were these sand hills. Quite amazing how they are just out there in, basically in the middle of nowhere. We had a walk up to the top of couple and grabbed the answers to the questions. Sent them off to CO who replied with the all clear to log. (We did have an issue with parts of the questions, however the CO put us in the direction with his reply, so thanks for the The Coffee's...)
Thanks for the earthcache and the reason to visit an area I didn't know about about. Fav point.

What an amazing natural wonder. I have been to Wentworth a number of times over the year but never been to visit the Perry sandhills.
The geo son loved exploring the dunes. I was very disappointed by the amount of rubbish that fellow visitors left behind. I made a point with geo son that it is always important to leave areas better than we found them.
Thanks for a great catching location

We visited the spectacular Perry Sandhills near sunset where we cooked our dinner at the picnic shelter enjoying the scenery as were many others who were taking advantage of the lowering sun. We had already walked the dunes prior to everyone else arriving so having the area to ourselves made the experience so surreal. We were able to pick up the trads here as we made our findings for this earthcache.

Road trip! At fairly short notice, TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox, ZQX and myself decided to head west from home in the ACT to South Australia this long weekend to tackle some of the On Your Bike wherigo series and other interesting caches along the way. We only have four days, so we are being fairly selective.
Today is the day we pick up a few more in the Bike wherigo series, along with a few others along the way, and then start heading East. Unless otherwise indicated, all caches found easily in accordance with the hint .

#4562 Logging with permission. When we arrived to the drifting sands we had the place to ourselves, but 10 minutes later about a dozen or so muggles turned up! We went to gz and gathered the required info before continuing on over the dunes to see the inundated tree and onwards to a trad cache below a high steep face of sand that Mrs BGF attempted to slide down. Fascinating place, lots of little animal imprints in the sand, including slithery wavey imprints! Thankyou for a great EC The Coffee's. Left a FP.
Great place for a stop and run up / roll down these dunes. Kids had fun too. Thanks for the education about the dunes.

West New South Wales trip 2020. Day 7. I was joined by MinnieK and Fitzy_1965 for a trip planned to go from Goulburn to Forbes, Nyngen, Cobar, Broken Hill, Wentworth and Balranald. Today dawned a bit cloudy, but that did not stop is finishing the caches in Wentworth and the Perry Dunes. On the way out of town we were stopped by an unmarked police car for stopping before a checkpoint we were never going to go through. Nice guys, too many guns. Caching continued to Gol Gol, Euston and finished for the night in Balranald.

Beadling around all day and mostly out around Wentworth. Love this landscape as reminds me of my roots. Spotted a blue tongue lizard on the other side and took pics of Sturt’s Desert Peas earlier in the day, had a nice chat with a lady over hot ️ and a scone, visited the Perry Sandhills and Murray/Darling rivers confluence A fab day and purrfect weather here
My most recent trip to sand dunes was near Exmouth WA and the sand was snowy white. These dunes are caramel like those in Morocco. Enjoyed the visit and the earthcache. Responses flicked to the CO.
TFTC Dropping a FAVE point here.

We visited this place thinking it would be too windy to actually play in the sand but with a break in high winds the kids and big kids took the opportunity to roll and slide on the amazing dunes. tftc
Hot but very beautiful out here.
Such a change from the riverbanks nearby.
Came with Purrfect Di and Jack - sent some answers through to CO - and
a much deserved drink at nearby Wentworth!
Learning a lot now properly reading the whole description. Remember going to nearby Mungo some 20 years back - must do that again too!.
Appreciate caching so much - never would have even driven this way if not for the caches!
Def worth returning in our travels to enjoy the area some more.
Thanks for the earthcache The Coffee's
Fav for highlighting the area!

Suscoe and Phetlern headed out today for an adventure to the west of Mildura out through Merbien, Wentworth and a bit further out to Fort Courage.
Another wonderful day in the Mildura region.
Clear skies, lovely sunshine, lots of caches to search for and great company.
What more could you wish for.
Thanks to The Coffee's for creating this Earth Cache.
We have visited here a few times over the years but today we had a geology task to complete.
We have messaged the answers to the CO.
No one else but us were here at our time of visiting and is was very quiet.

We were lucky enough to fly over the perry sand hills a few years ago and were amazed at the shape and size from the air.
We came here on occasions as kids. Always great fun.
Thanks for the adventure.

Came on a bad day. The wind is extreme. Geodog Tonka enjoyed running up and down the dunes thou even rolled in them and became a red dog instead of a white dog

I had no idea this area existed until I was flipping through a local Tourist Guide publication this morning at our motel and it was showing things to see and do in Wentworth. I thought it looked a pretty interesting area to check out and after the family enjoyed themselves at Lake Mungo a couple of days ago they were ok with the idea of a look here too.
Our daughter certainly enjoyed herself rolling down the hills and we found a pair of Shingleback Lizards having a spot of lunch too. A fascinating area and glad we came out to see it. Thanks to the Coffee's for setting up the EC here too. Answers sent as required

Camped on the river overnight and headed out to explore the sandhills this morning. The God Tree was enormous, we looked at all the different animal prints and the different patterns in the sand from the wind TFTC
A nice little location with so many people.
A trip away with the grandfather (freddo) to the Riverland and Mildura, for the weekend to attend the 3X3 events for the events held in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
Thanks for the cache.

Thanks for the cache and the information. Great little jewel in the landscape.
Late with my logging here, so just catching up on things after enjoying a trip here earlier in the year. The kids had a great time wandering around the dunes and I got to find a couple of geocaches at the same time. Thanks for the cacht The Coffee's.
From Mildura, I headed to Broken Hill. It was slim pickings from Wentworth to Broken Hill, with only one cache in 260 km. and it was a DNF. What a wonderful and surprising place this is. I tried to determine the correct answers, but I'm not certain about one of them. I'll email the owner and see how I went.
My thanks to The Coffee's for the cache and bringing bringing me to this special place.

Great day out with the kids and family. Located a few Bugs. Collected and will distribute. Great location.
Hoofed all over these dunes, admiring the many shapes. Lots of native flora here too. The tree with its foliage sticking out through the dune is a marvel...how is it still alive? Thanks for the oportunity to visit this interesting historic location.
Found whilst doing a trip around NSW following the Murray and Darling Rivers, visiting the following places, Young, Mulwala, Barham, Wentworth, Mungo National Park, Copi Hollow, Wilcannia, Louth, Brewarrina, Warrumbungles and Tamworth, crossing over the border to visit some adjacent town on the way. We hade a good look around here as we did the other caches near here, requiring us to walk right to the other side. TFTC The Coffee's

Charlicorn and I went on a 12-day, 3808km roadtrip from the Southern Highlands of NSW to Gawler in SA and back, to attend the Inline Hockey National Championships representing NSW. This was all new territory for us so of course quite a bit of geocaching happened along the way and at the various places we visited, although hockey commitments and the physical demands of competition meant it wasn't a high numbers mission. Instead we focused on specific caches such as Earthcaches, highly-favourited ones, long-unfound ones and those which ticked off boxes in my stats. But we picked up plenty of caches we just happened to wander past as well. All up a very successful geomission and, returning with bronze medal in hand, not too bad from a hockey perspective either.
As for this specific cache - wow, what a hidden gem of a place! We would never have known about this area if not for the Earthcache so thanks for setting it up here. There were people bodyboarding down the dune and the huge expanse of cloudy sky with the colourful dunes made for some great photos. I've sent my answers to the CO and hope they are satisfactory. This was a real highlight of the trip so of course an FP from me. TFTC!

Day #2 of Fergzters trip to Renmark. Today all four of us travelled from Gol Gol to Wentworth and then back into Victoria to head across the border. Finally we have managed to geocache in three states in one day. We definately come in the hard way direct from the river via some iffy tracks but the ute took it all in its stride. Mr and Mrs Fergzter collected the required information which as been forwarded to the CO while the kids played paddymelon bowling on the dunes. We will upload a photo of this when we get home. TFTEC The Coffee's, this was a great spot to visit.
Visited these sandhills for the second time, this time approaching from the west via the 150km of dirt on the back road from Renmark. An amazing drive, through such arid country, only a few km from the irrigated agriculture closer to the river.
We timed this visit for sunset too, and had a quiet chuckle watching a busload of tourists disembark, grab a glass of champers and head up the dunes to watch the sunset.
I'd love to come back with the real camera and fire off some proper shots !
Answers sent, thanks for the cache.

Seeing as how I was staying less than 5km away I thought I really ought to have a look at this unique landscape. A most enjoyable EC. Answers sent to the COs.
Beautiful area just popped up in the middle of no where. Great spot for exploring and looking at different animal tracks.
Nice easy find. Answers sent to CO. Thats for placing and it was an enjoyable day caching and rolling down the sand hills with the geokids. TFTC
Nice walk in the dunes with my daughter Trikate.
