We cycled 35km around these wetlands today. A bit of fun and exercise for us seniors. The gravel tracks meant a slow easy pace which suited us. We had a pleasant day. Saw several raptors, many kangaroos. TFTC docNwitchjy
Another weekend away at Bonnie Doon meant I could head over and do a few caches, I had unfinished business at Winton wetlands so that was the chosen destination for the days caching adventure, met up with Tiz13 who was in the area, the plan was to tackle some T5 caches but sadly we had no luck with them after three DNF's in a row we pulled the pin and stuck to caches on land. This is one of the caches found today. Thanks docNwitchjy for the cache.
Suscoe was heading home after a terrific few days caching around the Wangaratta, Albury and Rutherglen areas. The weather was on the turn and we decided to get some caching done before the rain arrived. We enjoyed driving through the area from Wilby in the north to the Lake Mokoan Wetland. Thanks to docNwitchjy for this hide, yes it is dead.
Jabbing with my hiking, Pole failed. So the gloves went on and thankfully the cache was in the first hole I searched.
I didn't have time today, to get stuck into a full on attack of the caches around the Wetlands, but, as I was driving past, I realised how close this one was to a parking area. I wandered along to the obvious object that would be concealing the cache, then spent quite some time poking and sticking my hands in places I shouldn't have. But eventually my perseverance paid off, and I was able to sign the log. Thanks for the sneaky hide, docNwitchjy. Once discovered, it is so obvious!! Doh!
Found it, nice views,
Lots of ants around,
Tucked away, couldn't see,
Had to feel.
Thank you.

Out with Geowife and Geodog exploring the Winton Wetlands. All good here. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
Tiny bit warmer than I had anticipated.
Scared a mob of kangaroos under the shade of some trees.
Beautiful view of the wetlands.

I was in the area for the Adlabs, and was passing this one on my way home, so I just had to stop. Found it nice and easily.

After a chilly but very relaxed night camping at Winton Wetlands, we reluctantly continued on our travels. This was one of the caches we walked to after a beautiful cafe breakfast. The container was full of water due to a broken lid, but the logbook was only damp and was signable.
Thanks, we enjoyed finding your cache.

Cache found and log signed with dalerious .
We had to replace the container here.
Thanks docNwitchjy .

With rivers inundated, we thought for sure that Winton would have had its fair share of water too. We thought wrong. Although there was enough for the frogs to thrive, (we can't remember ever seeing so much frog spawn anywhere before) the fish and us kayakers were not faring so well.
According to one of the locals, for Lake Mokoan to be a lake once more, the area needs at least 100ml of rain per month for 3 consecutive months.
Winton got less than 125ml total all winter.
Cat' and I came out to the Wetlands for a bit of a paddle in the puddle, but with not enough wet stuff to warrant unloading the yaks, we pulled out plan B and rode the roads on our deadly treadleys then walked the walks where they would not go with waders and gumboots.
We had come prepared.
TFTC docNwitchjy.
We replaced the perished container with one of the same that we happened to have had with us. [^]

Quick stop and find . Cache container is very brittle and breaking from the weather. Tftc
Another day exploring the wetlands. Made the film set security guard cranky by taking a photo. Hehe!

Please excuse generic log. I have not undertaken much caching of late for various reasons. I was so pleased when ILookedThere invited me to cache around Winton Wetlands. Jodie was familiar with the area and I was surprised of the enormity of the area. We took an anticlockwise drive around the "lake" from Gould Rd Nth Winton and on a couple occassions spoke to some crew of the current filming of "FOE"
Filming is underway on Amazon Studios feature, Foe, in Victoria, Australia, starring Oscar-nominee Saoirse Ronan, Paul Mescal and Aaron Pierre. The sci-fi psychological thriller will shoot across the state, including Winton Wetlands in northeast Victoria and Docklands Studios in Melbourne.
Jodie was hoping to get up close to a New Zealand built concept car that is to be used in the film but alas was then currently on set.
I digress, back to geocaching. A wonderful day had with interesting moments like being locked within the confines of the wetlands and backtracking several kilometers. (The length of North Track and Dam Wall Rd) Picking up a stranded cyclist and avoiding her having to walk some distance in the heat. That required thanking Jodie having to squat in the back of my truck. All caches were in good nick and thank all owners for the placement of them.

Found out with OzReg today. There was a film crew out today filming a new movie called Foe. Loads of traffic and you could see the barn and homestead that was built for the movie. Not something you get to see everyday! After a quick find we headed off down the track to see how close we could get to the film set. TFTC
Lovely early morning walk/bike ride through the wetlands - dropped our first travel bug here on 21/1/22
1 of 4 caches found on a short walk along the shore here. Lots of hiding spots here!

Another day in the wonderful Winton Wetlands. We made an early start in the fog. Riding and walking for a full day, in search of caches in and around Sergeants Swamp.
Our thanks to docNwitchjy for placing caches on the gameboard.

So many little spots it could be hiding. Definitely not in the first place I looked but even so was fairly quickly found. Should have really brought some repellent with me , the mosquitoes were starting to come out

Staying in Shepparton for a few days with the kids and SMS83 and her kids. We hit up some unfound caches as we explored the town and ventured further afield. Today we hit up silo art, wetlands and bushrangers! Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for this cache, this place is beautiful and the tree was a great place to sit and enjoy the view.
Harder to find in winter as grass growing over hide but loved it! Couldn't sign log book as forgot pen.
Out on the MTB to find this last cluster of wetlands caches - that’s after I discovered the cafe open! Such a great local destination with it’s own dramatic vistas on days like today which is just as well as it’s not baking hot. Quick find TFTC
Found 3/1/2020
Kids had great fun in a foot race to the “Dead Tree”
Thank You!!

Our second geocache for the day.
Almost didn't get this one as MtnRanger1 almost stepped on a brown snake while looking for it!

Found today while on the way home from the silo art nearby. Grabbing a fee of the day park and grab ones, but definitely worth greasing back to explore more fully.
Thanks for the cache!

Found while out on a caching trip up through Benalla and Wangaratta.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Caching in and around the area, we picked up a few caches in the area and this was one of them. We enjoyed our visit to this new area.
An easy find at GZ, cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

With a great path to walk along it was easy walking, again we nearly walked past GZ. No birds were seen or kanga's either. The cache is in good condition. SL TFTC
Melbourne to Benalla an overnight stop.
We stopped & found a few caches on the way to the Winton Wetlands which is not so wet at the moment. After visiting the dam wall we continued & done a short walk along the edfe of the lake.
As we returned to our caravan the rain started falling but not enough to change the conditions here.
Found numerous caches types & an assortment of sizes in some great locations.

Was so usy looking one way i literally smacked my head on it before nyochi had a closer look.
Hahahahahahhaa merkin of loki really had to use her head for this one! A real thinker :3
Almost gave up! Coordinates not dead on, and hidden very well! So glad it didn’t defeat us!
took us a while as my phone wasn’t picking up a signal. Once we could read past activity here we were sorted. Thanks
We did the divide and conquer to maximise our caching time here today. Mr LW and 3 of the juniors headed one way while Mrs LW and 2 juniors went the other. We arrived at the GZ and parked the pram and set about finding the cache. After looking in some likely places, I went back to see why Little Miss D was upset. She was parked right at the cache and could see it from the pram. It's a pity that she can't talk otherwise she would have said "Oi, It's over here!!!". Thanks for the hide.
I am finally getting to the end of the course that keeps dragging me back to Shepparton and thought I needed to pick up a few more caches in the area. Found this on the trip back to visit friends in Wangaratta. Thanks for all the caches and the people that put them out for myself and others to find.
Well this was a nice challenging hide and a challenge to return to its hiding spot but after a bit of work it is back hidden ready for the next finder. This was an unexpected hide and worth a fun favourite point for me.

I guess they not so difficult if you make the find the first time round. Tftc tnln
Found by Mary & David at 1120. Usually we just see the skeletal arms of the old trees from the freeway. Time ti get up close to these once mighty specimens. Beautiful bird sounds. Our thanks to docNwitchjy.
Don't those sulphur crested cockies and corellas absolutely love the thousands of dead trees around the lake
The constant noise is deafening at times,
and there really should be an extra warning on the signage that earplugs should be worn on site
Maybe 'The Hub' could sell earplugs ?? [:o)]
On a bike ride today I soon found the correct tree close to the path
TFTC .... "What ?"
