Another day in the wonderful Winton Wetlands. We made an early start in the fog. Riding and walking for a full day, in search of caches in and around Sergeants Swamp. Last stop before lunch.......
YUK, YUK, YUK - a broken container full of mud and a squishy log paper.
Our thanks to docNwitchjy for a bike ride opportunity.

These caches were a bonus when i realised i could get across the dry lakebed on my bike. Though i may as well grab these while i was here.
I can remember coming out here years ago and wondered why the track was a dead end, bit different now

Out on the MTB to find this last cluster of wetlands caches - that’s after I discovered the cafe open! Such a great local destination with it’s own dramatic vistas on days like today which is just as well as it’s not baking hot. Quick find TFTC
Found 3/1/2029
Great way to finish a fantastic walk with kids ..... even if it is 41 degrees LOL
Thank you!!

Was unable to find today after searching for a while. Flies were annoying today in particular.
Will come back another day for another crack at finding it.
Thank you.

Day one of my holidays, heading to Wangaratta for a couple of nights. This one wasn't where I expected it to be, but it was still an easy find.
My thanks to docNwitchjy for placing and maintaining the cache.

Today we decided to head to Winton Wetlands, after some raving reviews from another geocacher. I like to kayak. In fact it was even on the roof of the car in hope. But alas, the wetlands were still dry. Well not quite dry enough to prevent muddy shoes, but certainly nothing I could kayak in (not a puddle in sight actually). Thanks so much for placing this great series docNwitchjy. We enjoyed the walk. I suspect we both would have enjoyed a kayak more though
We have been staying in Shepparton for a few days and on talking with a local cacher it was mentioned that if we were up for some exercise we should head to Winton and grab a few caches around the lake while it is dry. Birds were heard and kangaroos and one fox, that looked in very good condition. were seen but no wriggly sticks, thankfully. Being dry is not good for the locals but it was certainly great for us. Some we walked and some we drove all in all a great day was had. All caches that we found are in good order. It was great to find caches that had swag in them, not that we swapped anything. SL TFTC
After getting a tip off from a local cacher that the dam was currently dry and walkable I thought this was a must to come and go for a walk, as the sun was going down I was restricted to the amount I could get, the lot were all easy finds, although my legs were scratched to pieces but the plants in the bottom of the lake. But sad to see that they worked hard to save the turtles and now they are gone from here.
A huge weekend away, with over 2000km being driven over 3 days from Adelaide to Mansfield via swan hill and Echuca, then return via Bendigo and St Arnaud. The target was to collect 11 new local government areas and mostly stop and do some multis.
But the main goal was tour of Mansfield, a cycling tour consisting of 3 stages over 2 days (Saturday and Sunday).
Stage 1: 14km Individual time time trail.
Stage 2: 76km road race finishing up old Tolmie
Stage 3: 46km road race finishing up the top of mt bulla.
Wednesday I left Adelaide for Victoria via pinnaroo, I decided I would stop when I had enough of driving. I camped in the back of a cemetery yes a cemetery, nice and peaceful in Nyah. Thursday I made my way from Nyan to Mansfield via Swan Hill, Echuca and Shepparton with 2 trips over the boarder. A lot of DNFs on caches as some were barrow red off due to road works and others I must if stuffed up. I ended up camping the night in Mansfield. Friday I held my event in Mansfield with a big show of 1 (just myself)!!! And went for a drive up mt bulla. Saturday was mainly racing and Sunday after the race I made my way back to Adelaide via Victorias oldest cache and some new roads through the middle of victoria that I had never been on before.. With arrival on Monday at 1am back home. A big trip out and a great weekend away with a little under 100 finds.
Thanks for the cache placements by all the cache owners.

Melbourne to Benalla an overnight stop.
We stopped & found a few caches on the way to the Winton Wetlands which is not so wet at the moment. After visiting the dam wall we continued & done a short walk along the edfe of the lake.
As we returned to our caravan the rain started falling but not enough to change the conditions here.
Found numerous caches types & an assortment of sizes in some great locations.
Thanks for placing this cache docNwitchjy

We did the divide and conquer to maximise our caching time here today. Mr LW and 3 of the juniors headed one way while Mrs LW and 2 juniors went the other. This was another find on an epic walk around the Wetlands, although the term wetlands seems a bit generous at the moment. Winton Series of Puddles seems more apt right now. This cache was located, signed and replaced quickly. Thanks for the hide.
With my final trip to Shepparton for work done and dusted it was time to add a few more smileys to Winton Wetlands.
This was my second of the day and a nice easy find. The name is definitely out of date now as the path keeps on going. Found the log saturated but I did manage to lay it out in the sun for about 30mins and dry it out a bit. I had no replacement and need to buy a few more so I can replace where needed.
Thanks Doc and Witchjy for the cache and giving me somewhere beautiful and serene to go on the way home and to give me a place to stop and think.

Found by Mary & David at 1300. Second stop along the North Track this afternoon. The reason for the name became clear a few minutes later. CO please note that the log book is quite wet. Our thanks to docNwitchjy.
Wet record strip. Looks like the track keeps coming but maybe the caches are another way. Tftc tnln
The transformation of the lake back to wetlands is amazing
I didn't even know it had happened until I read a few cache notes a couple of night's back.
I actually thought that most of the caches would require a kayak to get too
So this morning I was riding the bike around the edge of the ex-lake,
and a string of geocaches was guiding the way [^]
Here was another find
Hip, hip, hooray !!

The reason for our trip today was to get these caches. Arrived at the parking spot and thankfully the rain had stopped. A bit of lunch, a cuppa, coats on and off on a most enjoyable walk around these wetlands. Saw lots of wildlife and this is obviously an extremely healthy area even if there is little water. The log is a bit wet. Thanks Jamin Appleford for bringing us here today.
Heading up here to Winton Wetlands with sorceysal and 08151605 to collect a few caches. We parked in the designated place and ate some lunch, donned our jackets, hats and gloves and then headed off.
Fortunately the rain held off while we discovered the hides at the various highlighted areas in the wetlands. We did see, some birds, bird prints, plenty of kangaroos, and even a wild duck! No pelicans today though. Our imagination ran wild with some of the' tree characters' as we approached each area. That kept us entertained.
By the time we returned to the car we were quite warm and glad of the rest.
Of course, it was then that the rain started again. We were so lucky!

Cool. Wet cold day 8° it really cold out now. Out and about with Sorceysal & 6Hinemoa2. Cache damp . TFTC Cheers
I decided as I was down this way for work again I would have another crack at these awesome caches, the kangaroos were watching me very closely as I wandered around today but light was against me so I didn’t get all that I wanted but I thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful walk around the wetlands for the day - TFTC docNwitchjy, I really enjoyed it!

Another day to reduce my outstanding annual leave so I headed out from the other side of Melbourne bright and early today and arrived here to lovely drizzle that continued nearly all day. I was going to bring the bike up here to do these but quite glad I didn't especially today once I got into the wetlands section the water from the rain made the clay nice and sticky and each shoe probably weighed 2 or 3 kilos before I reached each log every 50m or so to clean them off and bring them back to normal weight. The bike would have been so clogged up it would have been super annoying especially with it raining as well. Today I walked a big loop to collect 14 caches and all them found in perfect condition and I got quite good at holding the umbrella under my arm while keeping myself and the cache dry while signing each one. After a couple of caches it just became normal and a really nice walk was had.
On the way up I had a missed call from my buddy Fleabag- while I was getting fuel for the car and as I arrived here I noticed it and then he called me again accusing me of being lazy and not answering his calls. Pffff. I was probably up earlier than he was!
I just got off the phone to my buddy and then made a nice easy find here.
Thanks docNwitchjy for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks docNwitchjy (F=865 H=33) for the cache.

Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch. We took advantage of the public holiday and the fact that the wetlands weren't wet to get a few caches today. Not sure why this is called the end of the track as it keeps going. TFTC
We found this little cache while I was walking around the wetlands with SciFiRulz. TFTC
Found out and about hitting T/5 caches with Cybergran V and locus cache in less than T/5 conditions.
Though my name is in the book, I've been less than keen to log online hoping to paddle to them all one day. Guess I will just have to update my post when I do.
It is so eerie seeing the lake dry knowing how it looks as a wet land.

On a delightful autumn day, what better way to spend it than enjoying the vastly different landscape than I’ve seen before here, and geocache our way around the area?
With chauffeur dalerious, locus cache and geopup Rex, this is my third cache for the day. Thankyou for placing it here for our entertainment.
The lid was brittle and shattered. Fortunately dalerious had a spare lid and was able to replace it for you.

We set off from here at 10:30am intent on bagging some high terrain caches while the water was absent so left this one for the return journey. Coming back past at 1:50pm with the 10 caches in hand we stopped off and were met by this one waiting outside the bottom, it must have slipped down unless a creature got sick of it. SL Left brooch. Replaced cache hopefully in a secure niche. TFTC
The name says it all. I unloaded the bike with a view of following the track to the wall, but after this cache there is no track, so reload and drive to the Dam Wall Car Park. Nice ride though. TFTC
We walked from the nearby car park to this one and not long after we found the cache. After signing the log we continued along the walking track and really loved the area.

Hubby was going to Winton Races, so it was an opportunity to grab a few caches, even though it was raining steadily, it was nice to make this find, in a plesant area.

Our second attempt at caching in these lovely wetlands while staying in the nearby Glenrowan Tourist Park. We absolutely love this area and all the birdlife.
At various times during the day we saw several kangas and a smallish red bellied black snake about 80cm long take his time crossing the road in front of us as we watched
We have been very impressed by the number of caches and how well they are being maintained....a real credit to the cache owners
Another nice one thanks docNwitchjy[^]

Nice easy find. Took the liberty of replacing the container. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Whoops this was the last before coffee. The lid on this one needs replacement as the sun has made the plastic brittle and it is broken. I'd have fixed it if I had one with me but unfortunately didn't.
Found on a nice morning walk with muppets#4-6, 4 & 5 have an extra day of holiday and were actually happy to get out of the house and #6 spent the time going splashysplashy puddle's.
Easy find by #5, cache is in need of maintenance, the container lid has a hole and the ziplock bag is tattered.

A long weekend and another trip with the geo 'rents and geobro'. What a cool way to spend Easter
Headed for Albury for 2 nights and then Bendigo for 1 night and we took each day as the caches came. A turn here, a turn there, a dirt track here and there and miles and miles of bitumen [^]
LOL, I've just seen one of geobro's cache logs and it reads very much like mine
Although he forgot to mention that he not so kindly shared his viral germs with geomum and I! [xx(]
Today (day 3) I found 62 caches and had 1 DNF
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
I don't like the end of the track as it means the end of the fun
Loved this area and yet disliked it at the same time
Such pretty views and yet so many dead trees and so little new growth.

We're off on a four day geofamily (Geodad: moneydork, Geomum:Tounga, Geosis: locus cache and geobro: ME) road trip adventure heading to Albury and Bendigo. A lot of miles were covered, many sights seen, lots of laughs, mirth and merriment during the trip. Oh, we found a few caches along the way as well. Day 3 was moving day.
Another cache off the unfound list, that almost cleans out the area.
Thanks for the cache docNwitchjy.

Started walking to this one, then realised I could drive all the way! Thanks for all these ones, must come back and ride the bike path on beyond this one......
Did a maintenance run so Bratllegs could find a few. Looking good and ready to find.
#1829 Found on the way home after a long long long day at work. Was nice to stetch the legs and enjoy the peace and quiet of the wetlands to wind down for the weekend. The walk was a bit further than anticipated but that was ok. A few weeds growing near the path, hope they keep on top of those. A quick find once at GZ, Tftc docNwitchjy.
