Somehow Peppa and I managed to overshoot GZ as we were totally focussed on our conversation. A few paddle strokes and we were beached at the right location. Many hands and eyes came up empty so a replacement cache was signed. Thank you for the fun
Joining the adventurous crew this morning for Davidwazza's event. A lovely cooler morning, this was a lovely place to paddle around, have a great chat and of course find some caches. We also had the extra bonus of being in the middle of a carnival, we added some extra paddles to our journey.
The CO had given us permission to replace a couple of missing caches, as this one was missing we replaced it with an appropriate sized container. Well done to Davidwazza for the great selection of replacement caches.
Thanks teamdfl for bringing us out here.

Today I decided to head for a paddle on Lake Wyaralong for the event and grab few caches along the way. I had fun paddling and watching the rowing regatta. I found 9 today.

Today, the plan was a kayak paddle on Lake Wyaralong to facilitate an event. The weather forecast was predicting rain showers, but we had a dry and pleasant paddle. A small group then took a drive to Beaudesert for a coffee / early lunch, before then taking a walk around Nindooinbah Dam.
During the afternoon, Beardman75 and I took a walk around King Coolum Reserve, and then I took a drive north finding a few geocaches around Jimboomba and targeting a few oldie geocaches within the vicinity.
It was a great kayak around this lake today, with a fun and adventurous group of nine Geocachers: Beardman75, Brislions, Davinells, karicka, Muggle65, Peppa, THE GREEN GECKOS, and Willis007. I was warned about a rowing regatta happening nearby, and they had set up their course alongside the lake, but it didn't really interfere with our paddle/geocaching plans anyway. All up, it was an approximate 4-5 km paddle over a couple of hours, which included the event/rest period alongside the island. A shame that there are only currently three kayak geocaches to be found here, as it is a large and peaceful location to paddle.
I wasn't the best in organising and looking ahead for our plans this morning, and it was only when I woke up that I saw that the few geocaches on the lake hadn't been found for quite some time (within approximately 1.5 years), with a few scoring DNFs from a January 2021 visitor (like this cache). A CO message was sent, and a prompt response was received to confirm that they were ok with us performing maintenance.
With the last visitor confirming a thorough search for this cache, I made sure to bring a regular-sized sistema container with me just in case it needed replacement. The group of Geocachers searched all around GZ, all the while conversation turned to various stories of historical snake encounters (I'm not sure if it was good timing to talk on that topic whilst we busily serched through thickish scrub and bushes). Alas, no cache was found, even though a couple of locations suggested a logical hide. With this regular-sized cache alluding us, as well as a past finder within the group also not being able to assist with this find, we suspect that this cache has either been muggled or otherwise taken by the lake waters (have there been recent high-water events in the last few years?). We subsequently replaced the cache behind a tree at GZ, covered by some branches and a small stump, so hopefully enough to not be seen by adventurous muggles, but suspicious enough to be found by Geocachers. Thanks teamdfl for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

One last cache left for us to get on this lake, with the waters still calm it made for a nice paddle towards GZ.
With half of the group up on the bank searching every possible hiding spot, the cache could not be located. Davidwazza springs another from his bag of tricks and a replacement was placed.
Thanks for a reason to visit teamdfl

I wasn’t sure about the paddle event today on Lake Wyaralong, but then Davinells said she was in….
It took me an hour into the drive here to work out why Renaldo was telling me it was 1hr 40 to get to the event… turns out it included the time to paddle out into the lake…
THE GREEN GECKOS and I were busy chatting and overshot the landing spot, but that didn’t stop others climbing up to GZ… where it was confirmed the container was MIA…
Again from Davidwazza’s Mary Poppins inspired bag of tricks a regular sized container was produced and left as a replacement…

After leaving the event site Peppa & we’re leading the flotilla back towards the boat ramp via this cache. I am not having to question their orientation skills as they both over shot the GZ while the rest of us created a beachhead for our assault.
Alas between Willis007, David Wazza, myself & eventually the Janny come lately we searched high & low until it was considered officially missing. Again David pulled out his rather large yellow carry on to produce a replacement cache. Once hidden with the assistance of some local camouflage, we returned to the beachhead & returned to the boat ramp.

No luck with this one today, searched high & low but alas no cache. Will try again someday.
Have been wanting to do this series of caches at Lake Wyaralong dam and Mt Joyce for such a long time and finally managed to secure a day to make it happen with E_Smiley. Final kayaking cache for the day which was a beaut size, nice & easy to spot IPS then a quick paddle back to the carpark for morning tea before tackling the land caches.

Wonderful day here around the dam with Snickersallan. We've been planning to collect these caches but bush fires and corona virus prevented us. So glad we've visited before my imminent move further north, driving would have been another 1 hour and 10 minutes without traffic.
Thanks for the cache and taking us here teamdfl. Enjoyed the hunt, we were looking for a micro until Snickersallan stumbled a rather nice size container.

Great Camo. Easy Find. TFTC. Add3d to the enjoyment of an early morning paddle with my visitor Chiara from Germany
All good here. Some nice swaps. What a great day! First day of spring and it’s a beauty
Apologies for the late logging, but came by these caches with LadySim, JeznDez, and seffnjarah and two muggle friends a month ago. A lovely time on the lake, and lots of laughs along the way. After the paddle we headed off to the Boonah Show, and onward for a spot of camping at the base of Mt May. A cracking weekend.
Thanks to the CO's for all the caches.

The first day of winter and the weather certainly didn't live up to the season with lovely sunshine and comfortable temperatures. So comfortable that I even dangled my feet in the water without them turning into a block of ice as we waited for some of our team to assemble and launch their water craft. The absence of any breeze was a bonus, with lovely clam water which made the paddling easy. With only the three water-based caches on the list today, we were certainly in no rush and it was a leisurely paddle across to our first target. After some initial struggles the container finally revealed its contents and we signed our names into the log before continuing the journey. TFTC
Out for a relaxed paddle around Wyaralong with LadySim, Swellerfungus and Seff (seffnjarah), as well as a couple of muggle-ish friends who have cached but couldn't remember their caching name (logs were signed Deb&Pat!).
We were expecting to be rather cold, as evidenced by our many, many layers as we hit the water, but it was actually gorgeous out on the lake. As we paddled we contemplated joining in on a training race with the nearby private school girls, but decided the embarrassment would not be easily lived down!
At GZ the cache was found nice and quickly, but I let feminism down by being entirely unable to open the cross-threaded container. I was slightly comforted by the fact that even Fungus with his giant hands struggled to access the log book. TFTC

We,my brother and I had been here before and loved this area, this time we brought the kayak and launched and away we go,the water was still,it was fantastic, and we found this one no worries.TFTC
It was a beautiful morning for a paddle on the lake. Lots of other people seemed to think so too. I spotted the cache immediately but had a lot of trouble unscrewing the lid. I finally got it open though. Thanks
First Cache by Kayak. Once I got to the GZ, I knew right away where it would be. TFTC
The last few minutes before midday on a Sunday and after a productive morning, feeling the need to get the kayak off its rack and go for a paddle someplace this afternoon. A quick ring around with short notice meant this was going to be a solo trip. I hunted around on the map and settled on Wyaralong and these three teamdfl offerings. Yak strapped to the roof and rolling out of the driveway within an hour and headed south had me looking forward to a perfect winter's day on the water.
A shade over an hour on the road, a lot of the time looking skywards and not a cloud to be seen. As I took the turnoff to the dam and checked when the gates would close I got a first glimpse of the water. 'Prime' is a word I'd use here. It was flat, really flat. Cool, calm, clear and I was itching to get out there!
Having launched from the boat ramp waypoint and leisurely paddled the distance out for that quacker of a view, then pretending to be a boating monkey, it was on towards this hide. I initially wondered which way was best to go around the island, but obviously, stuck to my usual of going the way I've not gone before. I finally saw a duck on this leg, along with plenty of other birds.
Right as I got near GZ there was a large flock of shags chilling out in some dead trees. Of course they were skittish and launched before I got very close at all. Sadly, their 'odour' lingered for a while after. I paddled past and picked a good spot to land the craft. With it tied up, I bailed out and started towards the geocache.
Immediately I was swooped by a magpie. What the!? He then flew off and landed on the ground not far away, singing away. I wondered if he didn't swoop, but didn't see me as he was flying around. Hmm.. not sure. Either way, he watched me as I walked the 20ish metres to the geocache, but never made any move to come near me. I suspect he was friendly and we just had a close encounter.. especially considering the time of the year.
Finding the geocache was no drama - great to find one of this size out here. All in good condition, I signed the log (with a magpie watching me from above) and replaced all as found. As I later paddled away from the island a second magpie joined his mate up the three and they both watched me leave. Inquisitive creatures!
With that, I headed back to the boatramp, a slight headwind by now. Happy with a few hours out on the water. Such a good move for this afternoon - going for a Paddle on Wyaralong. Thanks for the adventure teamdfl

Out for our maiden voyage in our 'new' canoe .....well, it's new to us ... actually, it's an old one that we have patched up the holes in, so today we headed out to see if it floats TFTC cache is in good order
Geohubby had made me a Greenland paddle and today was the day to test it out. Friends had recently visited Wyaralong Dam and Geohubby thought it might be a good place to try the new paddle. I was pretty keen, especially as I saw there were some kayak caches as well . The day was quite lovely, except the light breeze that was blowing at home, had turned into a strong wind by the time we were headed out on the water. We launched our kayaks from the boat ramp (Geohubby and Miss13 in our tandem Rhubarb and Custard and me in my tiny kayak Dugong). We had some rowers to keep us company for the first 10 minutes, but I think they gave up trying to row across the white caps out on the course. My new paddle was working well, but it was pretty hard going. I was quite relieved to pull up on the handy beach less than 50 m from GZ. It was a nice easy walk to the cache and after a quick look I came up with the cache container. It took me awhile to open the cache (it's been nearly 5 months since it was last found), but I eventually got to the log and signed my name. TFTC teamdfl, all is good at GZ
my muggle friend and I were here for the day to find some unloved caches and a picnic and paddle. what a beautiful spot. thanks for taking us here.
We went out to Wyaralong for a picnic & took the Kayak. This was our first go at finding a Geocache on the water. It was a lot of fun. Marna, Con, Jenny, Henry & Ned
Well this story stems from the CITO event when we decided long ago to bring along some water craft to have some fun. It was a drizzly day but that did not stop the enthusiasm from Geodad from saintsmadhouse, embem , nemo 56 and a geo hangeroner child. As the crowd dissipated from the lunch time feed we jumped into the water craft and paddled around to ensure all kids were ready for the challenge that lay ahead.
Paddles check, life jackets check, kids check and of coarse GPS check tucked away in the life jacket we headed off into the vast water play ground.
GPS said a straight line of 970 meters which I never told the kids that or else I would have to call it off due to a mutiny.
Paddle after paddle we went closer to GZ. We were lucky we had the rowing coarse distance bouys as that provided guidance and a nice rest stop on our way across. Arms started getting saw as I had a plan to link two boats together to make it easier on one of the young paddlers.
As we got closer we searched for a nice area to land the boats among the reeds. Off we jumped mostly without shoes and headed for the cache. We spied one obvious tree and headed for it only to be off on GZ. With a quick direction change I spied it before the others, passing on all the info to others so they could keep searching.
Once two others had found it we all moved into the location to retrieve it and see what treasure we had found. Open and look inside to find a dry log book and some good trades so we were quite happy as were all the kids.
Signed the book and off we went leaving just memories as we made our way back to the boats having the kids ask if we are heading back now.
With two caches to go we were off as the rain kept coming down.

Out for the day with the CO We'd had a paddle at Maroon Dam, then a walk at Waterfall Creek Reserve, and now it's time to get back in the boats for a maintenance run on her water caches at Wyaralong Dam. Even better, I get to make them all smileys!
Absolutely glorious weather in the late afternoon as we set off, and I was looking forward to a leisurely paddle, but very quickly we had to go to the aid of a gentleman on shore. He didn't seem to have any English but through mime we figured he might have lost a fishing rod??? We paddled out in the direction he was pointing, and sure enough I spied something floating. It was actually a double rod thingy, about 20 metres long, and took some work to drag up, as it was caught around a buoy! Eventually the end snapped off, and teamdfl towed it back to him while I continued paddling to this cache.
We found a good spot to pull up then had a scratchy walk back to GZ. I found the container on the ground, and from the indent under it it's been there quite a while. Logbook signed and we replaced it in the tree where it belongs. TFTC, teamdfl, and the company as always.

Last day in Oz for this trip before heading back to UK tomorrow. Lovely paddle with me brother. TFTC.
Out on the water in the early with the kayaks. So why not give some of the caches a smilie. We went to this one the long way and thanks God did not enter counter any snakes on the way. The log was signed quickly and we were off to the next one. Thank you for the cache teamdfl.
First time out on Kayaks. Was doing more u-turns than traveling straight but that's the fun of it.
Found the cache very easily.
Thanks for the adventure.

Spending the day in Beaudesert....after a big Christmas lunch it was time for a paddle with Dad. Happy to say we made it to this one, log signed with charcoal! Thanks for the cache CO and Merry Christmas!!!

Out and about at Wyaralong Dam for a couple of days of MTB'ing.
But I need a cache for today so I getting to these caches turned into a bit of a multi sport event. A MTB, a hike, a paddle and another short walk.
After finding the other cache on the island I weaved my way through the lantana and was soon at GZ.
A short time later I had my name on the log. [^]
Thanks for the cache.

**FTF** with stairman1 and bulldozer74. . Our second FTF for the day. We continued around the island and the water didn't get any better around the other side . Stairman1 headed off to grab the final for the multi we had started yesterday so it was up to me to make the brave move onto the island to retrieve the cache. Bulldozer74 steadied the boat as I made my way out. I was not planning to land in the murky green water [xx(]. I headed through the long grass and spotted the container straight away. Another nice clean log greeted me. Names placed inside I made my way back to my water vehicle and headed back to the mainland with bulldozer74 guiding us carefully. Thanks Teamdfl for another great spot to visit. I'll give you another favourite.

Second find for me today with our little flotilla making its way around the lake. This time it was Goldie's turn to gracefully climb out of the boat without falling in the water or more important tipping a bulldozer into the water.
Having safely climbed out Goldie made her way to the cache, I did lose sight of Goldie for a few moments but the reassuring call of found it was soon heard.
Having signed the log and returned the cache we started the paddle back to the launch point, funny how the kayak seems so much heavier to put on the roof racks after a hour or two of paddling.
Again big thanks to my fellow cachers and of course to teamdfl.
