On secondment to Melbourne, Australia, combined with short holidays here and there. SmileDay 41/74, Saturday. Today, I decided to do some trail caching and headed to the Mount Disappointment area. I searched quite a big number of caches today. Some of them I simply skipped, due to various reasons: there were some DNF's and I could not be bothered - the place was too "bushy" or otherwise unpleasant, or I did not find the cache in less than a minute (which was my limit for patience today). I knew I would only get a fraction of the caches anyway, so it made no sense to try to get each and every one of them systematically. So, I was a bit lazy. Smile Most of the caches today were found very quickly and I had a lot of fun. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Vaasa, Finland!

A trip to this region of the Australia was planned. In order to search and find a few caches here, various caches were dragged onto the Garmin. When we got here we saw a nice power trail. Without further ado, we organized various groceries to make ends meet. Filled up the rental car again and off we went. Our 4 WD-Truck is ready for this trip! After some time of starting this challenge, we came across here as well. We had to search a little longer for one or the other cache. Thanks to the owner for laying, caring for and guiding. TFTCKind regards from Germany

Twas the night before mega
With dark night and cold air
Off we go caching
late nights do not scare.

Kangaroos are of plenty
Five wombats we did see
How many caches will we get?
One? Maybe two or three.

Great company with Dromaniax,
Lucky we had a stamp
Plenty of caches were found here
Some good, some old, some damp.

Thank you Smile

The goal was 400 in a day—a pretty big task. But with Mt Disappointment and the Power Trail, it was a possibility. We started strong and hoped to find a high percentage of this excellent series. Unfortunately, it was a Mountain of Disappointment as the geomobile did not appreciate idling and travelling at very low speed as much as we did. It let us know the gearbox was not happy, so we had to pull the pin after 130 finds.

We did have the pleasure of seeing a range of Australian wildlife, one roo, several wallabies and four wombats, which it pretty cool.

We apologise for the generic log, as we prefer not to write them. We have some time pressures and cannot write 130 different logs.

All caches were found in excellent t condition unless otherwise noted.

Thank you, carkisser & JSando, for this long series of Traditional caches. We will be back to finish the series in the future.

On our way to the Mega at Whittlesea, but staying a couple of nights on the way at Kilmore to do some more of the Mt Disappointment series.

Drizzly rain on and off through out the day. Soft edges meant we needed to be careful were we placed our vehicle and our feet. Returned to caravan wet to knee high and soaked boots and socks from walking through long grass.

All but 1 cache was found.

Today was a beautiful cool day for some caching however it started to drizzle and the weather closed in as the morning progressed after having a great start to the day we ended on a rather sour note as we went along we collected 52 finds and 8 DNFs and as the number of DNF were increasing along this trail due to the clearing of the roadside it was decided that lunch would be a good time to stop the weather being what it was and the finds petering out the daily goal was not going to be reached now so we went back to the camp and one of the team ended up at the hospital.

Finally a return to the area we had collected a few caches of this trail many moon ago (feb 2018) we have returned to conduct some recon for the Whittlesea mega so whilst staying in the are we decided on another assault of the Dad's Mt. Disappointment Driving Lesson Trail and pick up some of the ones we didn't collect at that time owing to road works. This was a good day our except for those DNFs and the weather closing in on us around what would have been our lunch time so we called it quits. All caches that were found were in good condition however a couple could use a little attention as the logs are getting on the damp side.

Thanks carkisser & JSando for placing this series for us to add a few more to our collection today and apologies for the cut and past logs you know what its like.

It has been quiet awhile since I was last up here so I made the decision to to come up early this morning and tackle a bit more of the series starting at #52 and seeing where I end up.
It was nice and cool this morning but the sun came out and warmed up the place.
The roads were quiet as well with only the occasional car passing by.
I have ridden, driven and walked a lot of the tracks around here and have even stayed at No 1 camp a couple of times, I just love this place.
A bit messy along the edge of the road due to some grading but hopefully all will be good.
You guys have done a great job in putting this series out and keeping up the maintenance as well as I know that can be a lot of work.

Thanks carkisser & JSando TFTC

Took the opportunity of a drive through the countryside with n0w0rries +Wife to see if we could knock off a chunk of the caches around Mt. Disappointment.

It was fun travelling in the company of my hosts, sharing the back seat of the car with the two dogs. And by sharing, I mean squeezing my way into the car after finding each cache until I could close the door, only to find that meagre space usurped as soon as I hopped out for the next quick search. (they're good, friendly dogs, but you're never in any doubt as to whose space that is. Wink

In all, we managed smileys on fifty or so caches before heading back home for dinner. All were found reasonably swiftly and, apart from the occasional damp log, were in good condition. I think n0w0rries and I found about half of the containers each, aided hugely by our driver's excellent positioning by the coordinates.

carkisser, thanks for the hides, and thanks for inviting me, n0w0rries and +Wife

Almost two hours on the mountain so far, with nirgalagrin, +Wife and our Geomutts, EveTheStaffy and MaxTheCollie.

A diverse area indeed. Many wildflowers and signs of wildlife.
Any time spent away from the city is to be valued. Thank you for placing this trail to get us out here.

After a lot of planning over the last few months, the day had finally come to get stuck into this series. I followed the route I had worked out without being sidetracked and everything went pretty much as I had hoped. I made my first find at 7:10am and the last for the day at 6:15pm. By 7 o’clock I was sitting in the Red Lion in Kilmore enjoying a cold beer and thinking back over a most enjoyable day. There was of course the odd DNF along the way as well. The weather was kind to me which helped a lot as well. A big thanks to carkisser & JSando for placing this and maintain this series. Cheers and TFTC

These are subsequent finds for the day on the actual Dad's Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson series which Geowife and myself decided to attack today in the hope of achieving 100 plus finds in a day (which was achieved). As such this one was a follow on in the series from where we picked up from after we left off last year with the only DNF in our run on these new caches in the series been #115 Anyway after a quick park and grab on a large majority of these, the series has been attacked in earnest at this stage and had a productive day was had and in the end we found around 105 plus caches for the day. TFTC.

If there is a complaint that I have about this series it would be that some people do not replace the caches in the correct place as per GZ co-ordinates and some caches that we found today were up to 10 metres away from the GZ, not covered over or left out in the open. Other cache logs were so wet that the logs could not be signed and a sheet of dry paper was added to these ones. The caches that had water in them were emptied of water and resealed.

And to carkisser and JSando, thank you for this great series and the huge amount of work that the both you and your team of helpers thank you for making keeping this series in operation.
Due to the high number of logs to be completed a generic log has been generated for all/most logs.

Great day out with Team Justice, successfully completing this wonderful series in a day. The challenge has appealed to us for a long time, and it was incredibly satisfying to be able to complete it. Throughout the day we often marveled at the size and quantity of the containers you must have had at home in order to lay these out. Thanks so much carkisser for this astonishingly ambitious and well executed series. We loved it!

A plan was hatched with Clint & Abby over 12 months ago when we saw these caches come out over time. We could get 100, nah, let’s get them all and soon after a few drinks we decided to attempt the lot in 1 day. Time passed and somehow we found ourselves talking about it at a recent event (yes, and more drinks). Let’s do it after Christmas, ok. So, we meet in Wallan at 6am to begin the long day.

We had a few ideas to speed up our caching given we were trying to find 300+ caches in a day and that our previous record was about 60 in a day so this was going to be tough. We put the GPS and pens on lanyards do we could keep our hands few when getting the cache and didn’t have to pick up or get things out of our pockets. We did shifts of 1 hour, so one person did the driving, ate, re-hydrated and relaxed, while the other cached for the hour. The driver also provided the clue up front between caches as the cacher counted the distance down to the cache.

Now to the clues. Tree, stump, log, rock! We were getting a good chuckle over the clues, ‘beside tree’, we are in a forest! We found some of the ‘logs’ were not yet logs (i.e. trees), but they were close most of the time. We thought there might be some sort of random clue generator sometimes.

To the numbers. 330 caches attempted in 10 hours and 22 minutes. We had 7 DNFs and a total of 323 finds. This meant an average find time (including DNFs) of 1 minute, 53 seconds. We were quite amazed at the speed we could go and how quick you could find, sign and move on. It also comes down to the great containers laid out by carkisser for this power trail. Nice and large, and easy to find and extract the logs. We only came across one Eclipse time late in the day. Our biggest hour of finds was our 5th hour of 42 finds. This averaged out at 1 minute and 25 seconds per cache.

Overall, we had a great time as it was a challenge to push ourselves to get all these caches. We loved the layout and the effort to place all these caches. Thanks so much to carkisser for the caches.

I had a great day out today after LouLou0212 and myself picked Gabs1963 up for the airport. We headed to “Melbourne’s First” and then onto this trail as Gabs1963 has cached our her 450km radius, so she wanted some “easy numbers”. Thanks so much for placing this trail carkisser

TFTC. Our friends Jackie and Dennis (Muff1)had invited us to join them in making an assault on Mt Disappointment. We drove up on Sunday to Kilmore to join them. After putting a dent in the Mt Disappointment trail yesterday, our aim today was to finish the trail. We had an added incentive. We were close to 5000 finds and there was the pooibility we could track 200 finds for the day. The weather forecast did not look great but the weatherman was wrong . Muff1 had spoken to the CO and made arrangements to replace any caches that were missing. They will contact they CO with details of any issues we found along the way. We had a great time . We replaced 7 missing caches. We had never visited this area before and the trail gave us an appreciation of the area. Thank you carkisser & JSando for a great series.

05-Nov-18
We arrived in the area with a particular plan and that was to do the Dad's Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson trail. All caches were found or replaced (with the permission of the owner) Some still need the logs replaced but we ran out of supplies.
This trail was done with Hans and Linda, the jumping in and out of the car was shared, the driving was shared, lunch was had on the trail where ever we found a place that appealed to us.
Some shots were fired near one of the caches which startled the crap out of us. We did not think that you were allowed to shoot here. The roads were a mixture of good, bad and ugly. Thankfully it was dry it did try very hard to rain but all we saw was not enough to wet the car or us.
We apologise for the generic logs, this does not mean we thought any less of this series. We appreciate the effort that has gone into placing this trail and maintaining it, this is why we were more than happy to help with some maintenance.

AndyB84 and myself had plans to hit the Mt Disappointment trail and today that plan was realised.

We Arrived at the first cache around 9:45am and called it a day at 4:45pm before making one final sneaky find at the servo on the way home.

I had no idea what to expect in terms of numbers. My biggest day previously was 55 so I wanted to beat that. The next goal was 120 and looking bigger was 150.

We eventually ended on 129 finds for the day, doubling AndyB84's found count in a single day.
Pretty stoked with the effort. We cracked a cold one each on number 101 for the day.

Most caches were found easily with good coordinates. Some had wet logs, one was missing a lid and there were a few DNF's near the start of the trail as well.

The road was well maintained, we brought AndyB84's ute but my Magna would have been fine on these roads.

We signed most of the logs as A & K to save time.

Thanks for the caches Smile

Since moving from New Zealand in 2016 I have been enjoying the area, exploring and finding caches.
So far I’ve knocked off 4 of the states. VIC, SA, NSW and A.C.T all multiple times.
No two areas are the same here and almost every place I go to is stunning. The beauty of caching is that it takes you to so many places you would never usually find.
Thank you to all the cachers out there for hiding and maintaining their caches. Especially to those who put so much effort into creating unique and fun hides.
I enjoy finding well maintained caches in fun and unique cache containers. No one likes finding a mint tin – but a find is a find after all
Well she was an American girl
Raised on promises
She couldn't help thinkin' that there
Was a little more to life
Somewhere else
After all it was a great big world
With lots of places to run to
Yeah, and if she had to die
Tryin' she, had one little promise
She was gonna keep
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well, It was kind of cold that night
She stood alone on her balcony
She could hear the cars roll by
Out on 441
Like waves crashin' on the beach
And for one desperate moment there
He crept back in her memory
God it's so painful, when
Something that's so close
And still so far out of reach
Oh yeah, all right
Take it easy baby
Make it last all night
She was an American girl
Well I'm a-runnin' down the road try'n to loosen my load
I've got seven women on my mind
Four that want to own me, two that want to stone me
One says she's a friend of mine
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
Don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand, and take it easy
Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona
Such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
We may lose and we may win, though we will never be here again
So open up I'm climbin' in, so take it easy
Well, I'm a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load
Got a world of trouble on my mind
Lookin' for a lover who won't blow my cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels make you crazy
Come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save me
Oh, we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

Wow! What a day. KmanNZ and I were out to find big numbers, however I never thought I would double all my previous finds.

WE got to the first cache at around 945am and kept going through to 345pm when the rain finally hit. All in all, we managed to find 127 along this trail and grabbed a quick one on the way home at the service center.

We signed the caches A & K to save time.

I would like to thank KmanNZ for supplying the beers which we cracked on our 100th find for the day.

Our 100th for the day

Thank you to carkisser & JSando for placing this series. We had a great day.

#3180 A big day of caching with the aim to collect big numbers and collect a bunch of souvenirs. The geohounds tagged along for the adventure. A cool day with the temperature floating around 7-9 degrees, but much fun had. A handful of dnfs but lots of finds. We found the coords to be pretty good, a few damp logsheets but no trouble signing. Thanks for all the effort carkisser and JSando.

60th find for the day coming at 1:52pm Smile.

Back on the trail today, hoping to find another fifty, low cloud and looking like we could get rain, but hoping not.
I was the lucky finder to begin the day well.

Hume and Hovell were wrong. Red Face
This place should be called Mt Rewarding. Cool
This was my 3rd visit here with Cybergran V and with the days haul of 102 finds (including 3 randoms) we now have 199 of this series completed and (when logged) all 13 virtual souvenirs currently on offer in the bag. Big Grin
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou carkisser & JSando for this amazing opportunity to crank the numbers when most needed. RazzCoolBig Grin

A birthday outing to Mt Disappointment tackling more of the caches on offer. With geo husband driving and me hunting we made a great team. TFTC

This was one epic series, it had it all, easy finds, tougher finds, lots of dirt road driving, steep hills, bush bashing, open logged forest, deep dense forests and a leech or 2 to throw in the mix. Both me and TheSkype traveled from the ACT to cache in Victoria and this series certainly is one to bump up the tally which I personally believe is only for die-hard cachers. Do not bring a newbie here, it might get tough, zap their mind and they might never want to cache again. We camped at Andersons Garden campground and this was our base for the 3 days we spent caching. Thanks again pleasure to do business and explore this historic part of Victoria. TFTC. Day 2

#2495 Found with the Green-martian, both visiting from Canberra. Travelled in a 4x4 Outback for over 16 hours, over 3 days. Averaged 20 finds per hour hitting 30 finds an hour between #206 to #235. Found a total of 323 caches with 9 DNFs. What a marvel it was finding this series. All park n grabs with the car and GPS covered in dust. Weather was warm for April. Thanks carkisser & JSando for this epic series of caches.

During a little warm-up here earlier this week I found about 65 caches in one afternoon. Today I returned for a full day effort, starting at 8am and stopping at 6:30pm having covered about 100km. Without rushing too much (all logs were signed and dated in full, caches rehidden properly, and photos taken of every GZ and logsheet) I ended up with 230+ finds for the day which is a surprising record for me Smile.
Other than a shaky start near the residences (5 DNFs in the first 11) the rest went pretty well as I searched for them in numbered sequence from #1 to #240.
All were found easily other than #4,7,9,10,11,15,37,62,79,142 and 158.
It was nice and quiet on the trail all day - just saw 2 other cars and 2 police patrols on a mild dry sunny day. Perfect caching conditions.
Thanks for the cache and the series, carkisser and JSando.

This time I got it right.
Parked square with GZ.

These were the caches that McLookers and I had to do, which had already been done by the others on our group. We therefore left them to do these ones, while they did cache we had already done. There were no problems iwth any of these caches, save for one which we eventually found.

No snakes!!

We had planned a group trip to pick up the remaining caches in this series that we hadn't already found. Today with Alansee, Team Crackers, Good Look and micaparamedic we got an early start as we knew it would be a hot day. We signed the logbook as MICE...I will leave the others to tell the story of its creation!! Thanks carkisser & JSando for a terrific series with good co-ords and some stunning views.

Finding 100 caches in 24 hours today with Angelique Anja and Tally Tiger today. Please see Anja's log for more details. Thanks for all the caches.

***Team ZACAATT does 100 caches in 24 hours***

At 5.37am Tally Tiger, Zedaycee and Angelique_Anja were bundled into the car and headed towards Mount Disappointment. With one goal in mind (well 100 goals...), The mission was underway.

At 7.07am Zedaycee retrieved the first cache. It was all thrusters go then with 10 caches collected in 30 minutes.

There were:
Ducks blocking the road.
Endless scratches.
Falls.
Never ending GPS woes.
Red rashes that won't go away...
Wriggly sticks (we DNF'd that one...)
Stunning views.
Lots of pretty flowers!
Logs learning to swim.
Plenty of geopiles.
Christmas carols playing.
Angelique_Anja's sandwich collection.
Party collection of lollies.
Logs, stumps and trees of every variety.
And caches upon caches, upon caches!!!

At 5.20pm Angelique_Anja retrieved cache 100.

All in all, 103 caches were done today by this exhausted team. 6 DNF's, not too had considering!

But we did it! We really, really did it!

Staying at Kilmore, we tackled some of the Dad's Mt. Disappointment Driving Lesson series, dodging the rain clouds, thunder and lightning that added to the adventure.

This took us through the country side of the Mount Disappointment area, up and down the gravel roads where we met a few 4x4 and motor bike muggles having fun in the area as well.

Most were quick finds but some were not. Cache and contents were in excellent condition.

Thanks carkisser & JSando for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment. Appreciate the time and effort gone into this series.

This series has been on my radar for way too long so last night a quick plan was devised between square_pegs and myself to have a go at conquering a decent sized chunk of Mt Disappointment. I had no idea what to expect but what I can say with certainty is today turned out awesome. Even the weather remained stable and we got used to the humidity. Towards the late afternoon the rain came down which was welcomed as it reduced the heat and spurred us towards our goal. This cache was 97 of 128 found and logged amongst sights of Kangaroos, colourful birds and lizards.

Thanks carkisser for hiding good sized caches with spot on co-ords.

With a last minute plan hatched with abl973, we decided to head towards Mt Disappointment. With warmer conditions earlier on, the clouds rolled in later during the afternoon bringing a few welcome drops of rain. The landscape varied quite a bit with plenty of different flora along the trail. The satellites were agreeing with us today as the coordinates were pretty spot on. The detail of the lid on the containers was an excellent touch.

Thanks to carkisser for placing this cache.

Today was a great day to continue caching along the Dad's Mt. Disappointment Driving Lesson series as the weather started our being overcast and pleasantly cool. Each log in the caches we found had our name noted in the form of initials (GP2). In today's section of the series the caches seemed easier to find.
The only ones we did not locate were #131 and #132, which were both within a section of road controlled by stop/slow sign holding muggles as well as muggles on road repair machinery.
Each cache located was replaced as it had been found before we moved on.
Thanks to carkisser & JSando for this extensive series of caches.

Our third day caching as the GOTHs, Geocachers of the Hills, made up by the following teams, Bushfire, Aussie M & M, mogni, Team Astro, brisal5 and 6hinemoa2. Our aim was to try to clear out caches in various spots and we had a special goal for good friend Lawrie, aka Bushfire, we wanted to bust his record of caches found in one day. This meant a desperate attempt on doing as many caches as we could on Mount Desperation, aiming to hit 200 in a day which is not my best day. So many power trails in SA do that for you. It was all about Lawrie today. Some interesting spots were found, got close to the river, and some amazing views. Thanks for the hides.

We wer exhausted after this day and half a night, had dinner at MacDonalds on the Hume Hwy somewhere in Victoria.... Only would do this for Lawrie. Thanks again, all cache owners.

Thursday 16th Meeting up with 2Hinemoa6 in Bacchus Marsh and then Aussie M & M and Brisal5 both from SA in Broadford the team is nearly complete. Mogni and Team Astro will meet us at our headquarters (Maybole Cottage) for the next few days.
Day 4 19th Sunday Our farm stay has everything required for a very pleasant few days.
Up early and ready for a long day caching we stopped at this cache as it was on our list, soon located, log signed so on to the next. To save space in the logs we logged as GOTHS or GOTHS + 2 as we all live in the hills.
With hundreds of caches to log most will be cut and paste but I do thank all the owners for their thought and effort that has gone into placing a huge variety of hides around this very beautiful area.
Thanks carkisser & JSando for organizing this cache

So much fun.[:o)] So many laughs.Big Grin The coordinates were mainly spot on and the tracks were mainly dry and dusty (even after all that rain).

Found as part of my 2017 Alexandra Mega experience with the GOTHS. So an awesome group consisting of 2Hinemoa6, Mogni, Aussie M&M, Bushfire, Brisal6 Smile This cache added to the fun and enjoyment of my trek to the east then back from Adelaide. While there were a few thunder storms, there were mainly clear skies and I never saw a snake! SurprisedRazz

Thanks to carkisser and *clear skies* from TeamAstro. Cache the planet!

MEGA ROAD TRIP - Alexandra Mega 2017 that is. : Day 5: GOTHS have a disappointing driving lesson. [8)]

GENERIC LOGS: With Literally Hundreds of caches found during our stay anything specific to this cache will be found near the start HERE: [8] [8] [8] Nothing here means it was found quickly, the cache had no issues and we moved on!

We had all come together for the Alexandra event at a lovely farmstay just outside the township. Mrs. Aussie M&M, Astro and I from Adelaide, mogni from Mt. Gambier, Bushfire from Geelong and 6hinemoa2 from Bachus Marsh. We would be filling up log books just putting our names in them so we searched for an anagram from our caching name initials. Razz The best we could find was BATHMATs. [B)] Good grief. Surprised So we settled on GOTHS = Geocachers Of The HillS as we all lived on a hill of one type or another. [:o)] We didn't just 'turn up' and cache. Many months of planning and puzzle solving went on before we made our way over and so we had some target caches and series to have a go at. Today was Mount Dissappointment driving lesson power trails - and anything else that was nearby in our travels. Wink Once again the planning by the mega committee and to local cachers made our stay fantastic. [^][^]

Thanks carkisser for this cache. Big Grin

This was a group assault, 3 cars and 8 geocachers and we were able to find 200 plus of this series...
Apologies for the generic logs but power trails are exhausting.

Thanks from mogni Smile

Great series up here - living some numbers.

Thanks for another smilie. Quick find where all good at GZ.

Great to be over this side of the ditch for a few days with my key focus being the Mega in Alexandra and associated activities. I’ll be taking some ideas back to New Zealand so as we plan for a major Event next year we can look to implement some of the great things from Melbourne.

Did you know that planning has started for a major Event in the Wellington region in 2018? Check out the details on the [Wellington Event NZ (WENZ) Website](https://sites.google.com/site/wenzgeo2018/home) or visit the event’s page on [FaceBook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/590545297801072/). The official cache page is now live [GC78NMQ - WENZ Event 2018](https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC78NMQ_wenz-event-2018-wellington). If you are planning to attend, please ensure you let us know through this page.

Thanks to the Cache Owner who has gone to the trouble of creating this cache, determining the coordinates and then averaging them to make sure they are accurate, placing the cache and registering it online for our enjoyment. Without Cache Owners doing their bit, there wouldn’t be a fun hobby that we all love - so again a big THANK YOU.

I set off on a mission to find as many of the series as possible. It was early in the day, I had plenty of fuel and food in the car, so perfect! Most of them were pretty straight forward, but some gave me a little bit of a headache. I was impressed with the size of the caches, not very usual for a power trail! And there was even a storm with thunder and lightning in the second half of the day, but it rained just enough to give me better traction on the road Big Grin I did manage a large chunk, although I was struggling with the last three due to the darkness setting in - and then I was travelling back to Alexandra at crawling speed out of fear of hitting a kangaroo! Great fun overall, thank you for placing and maintaining the trail!!

Headed down to Victoria with steeba and Hoojar to be part of the 3rd Victorian Mega celebrations in Alexandra. Our 3-day leave pass ensured we’d be constantly on the go! From 300 finds in the Mt Disappointment area to 10 different cache types there was never a dull moment.

The Mt Disappointment trail was a huge day for us as we'd driven down overnight, then on minimal sleep we had a huge day finding all 300+ caches.

Thanks to all the cache owners who contributed to a great 3 days caching with my fellow caching buddies. My apologies about the template style log, it certainly doesn’t detract from the thrill of the ‘find”.

Found as part of a few days away with my great caching mates The Rats and Hoojar. Our main aim was the Mega event in Alexandra but we managed to find most of the Mt Disappointment series, did 9 or 10 cache types in a day (side trip to Mt Buller and then Melbourne CBD). Some great laughs, camping under the stars, a nicely organised Mega and some great wildlife (koala Surprised and echidnas Big Grin). TFTC!

The idea of going down to Victoria and to the Alexandra Mega was original floated by Steeba. Normally Megas are not something that I am super keen to attend, but the opportunity of also collect some serious numbers on the Mount Disappointment caching trail, and finding some Lab Caches really helped to sweetened the deal. I was in, along with my long time caching buddies Steeba and The Rats.

We left Wollongong at 8pm on Thursday evening, returning at 5pm on Sunday, 2,500km and over 400 cache finds later. With less than a handful of DNFs, a wonderful result!

Highlights of the trip included:
- Finding over 330 caches on Friday, the entire Mount Disappointment trail;
- Finding ten unique cache types on Saturday, which included a drive to both Mount Buller for a Web Cam, and then back for a late night Melbourne CBD visit for a Virtual;
- Meeting up with a few local Wollongong cachers in Alexandra;
- Setting two new personal records, for my most cache finds and cache types in a day;
- The always good company and banter of Steeba and The Rats;
- Seeing six echidnas, and a koala (my first sighting of a koala on the ground in the wild); and
- The absolute highlight of the trip was watching Sir The Rats be inducted into the Australia Geocaching Hall of Fame (or maybe the jokes that Steeba and I had over the weekend over the honour!).

Thanks to all of the cachers that hid caches for us to find over our short trip away. I have little doubt in thinking that we will be back to these parts again at some stage to find more caches!

Cheers

Out on an adventure to complete this series in two days, we did it in 1 1/2 so feeling pretty proud of ourselves. Thank you for placing this series, we saw some gorgeous scenery, lots of roos that didn't make it home at night but best of all we had fun. TFTC

Roadtrip down to Alexandra for the 2017 Mega Event.
Day 3/4 had me teaming up with Kryslazz to tackle "Dad's Mt. Disappointment Driving Lesson" Power Trail. It was a huge effort to do this trail, but a bit of planning, preparation, routine, discipline and endurance really helped.
Thanks for the caches in this series!

15-Nov-17
I had a few days off before the mega and thought I’d come up and tackle this series. 191 for muppet95 and I today. Not bad for around 7 hours caching. The majority of them were quick easy finds. I’d never been to the area, so it was nice to head here and check it out... until the damn rain set in!!! TFTC

Spending a few days at nearby Strath Creek with Snickersallan and DiamonJs to tackle the Mt. Disappointment power trail. Many interesting roads covered, views seen, lots of wildlife spotted, heaps of caches discovered and just a few cars passed! Thanks carkisser and JSando for the effort and time put into establishing this series.

Day Two of our adventure whilst staying in Strath Creek with geo friends DiamonJs and joojoo57. Although a little tired from day One we are still enjoying this series and it was quiet on the roads apart from a few heavy log carrying trucks today and the roads not as dusty due to the overnight showers. We saw numerous dead wombats and kangaroos that a few had decided to lay near GZ but we survived that challenge of retrieving the cache. We even got to see a boxing kangaroo duel which lasted five minutes, good to watch. Once again co-ords were spot on and great hints again.
Thanks for the driving lesson carkisser & JSando and TFTC Smile
