I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
Hi DOCSouthwestland
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

It was interesting reading the history in the building before starting our search. Unfortunately we could not locate the cache
Looked for a good 10 minutes with Vistra but with no luck. Found the 3 spikes and a whole lot of flax.
Came to okarito for the fishing and thought I might get some caches tick off while I was here
Thank you for the cache

We went to Okarito for the afternoon after having visited the Franz Josef glacier in the morning. At Franz Josef the first clouds appeared, but here the sky was still blue.
Had a look in the old wharf building and admired the view on the river. Went first on the wrong side of the street for the cache. But with help of the hint we could correct the search zone, and finally sign the first logbook of the new year.
Thank you for the cache and happy new year

Found on our West Coast road trip. A quick easy find, and a great coffee from the kayak hire place.l! TFTC!
All good here. Grabbed this after a walk on the beach between rain showers. Very misty today on my first visit to Okarito. Tftc
Such a lovely spot. Shive of activity, fishing, paddle boarding kayaking and net fishing. A few little biters but hey worth it. A beautiful spot
Great spot. Hetty, its history in the building, lagoon, and both mts through the bush tftc and fp
Staying in Okarito for the night. This one took me a while to find. Thanks for placing the cache
Enjoyed completing a couple of evening walk caches as staying for the night in the local campsite. TFTC
Quick find exactly where I thought it would be when I read the hint. Enjoyed visiting the old building with the info panels. Thanks for the cache.

Heading home from cycling the A2O finding Geotour caches on the way.
No point in driving all this way for the Geotour cache without finding this one too. Loved the wharf and the estuary. Thanks for bringing us here.

Taybeedragon, Zara, Toby and and I are off for a few days catching up with PWGTs on the West Coast. Zara had a slow start and needed a jump start to get us on the road Thursday evening. Camped out just past Murchison Thursday Night. Lots of driving missing most of the rain on Saturday. Visited Shanty Town, Punakaiki and Denniston before returning home on Sunday. Lots of driving with all target caches bagged. A great trip with taybeedragon. Now to plan our next adventure.
Sorry for logging late these were found on the weekend of 16 sep to 19 sep 2021.

On a trip with Ruru_NZ to gather the tour caches needed or in my case not done yet. Should be able to knock them off on this trip.
First time to this part of the coast and won’t be my last as I’d love to see the white heron colony sometime

Day 6 - Labour weekend extended road trip with Kiwicampnut - relocated to stay south of the ditch.
Woke to blue skies and spectacular views. Quite different from yesterday.
We hunted high and low, left and right before MAF. Cache was finally in hand after a reply. Then we got chatting to a local who knew about this cache and where is should be. Hmm, some cache creep for sure! Our friendly local told us that the place we'd found it was prone to flooding, and put the pill container back in its original place where it won't float away.
Thanks for the cache DOCSouthwestland

JD and I have been here for a couple of decades. We were supposed to be going on a tiki tour of Northland. However, level 3 in that area changed our plans.
So JDScout and I are doing a loop trip with our camper van. From Christchurch to Ross to Fox to Haast to Lake Hawea and back home.
To add extra excitement to our trip we are geocaching too. Thanks for hiding this cache DOCSouthwestland I appreciate it.

Its exploring Okarito Wharf. This one took us a while to track down. The container was broken so arranged a replacement to help it along. Cheers
We left Murchison this morning. Stopped off at Waiuta, Blackball and visited Shanty Town for a few hours. Then travelled south, leaving Zara at Hokitika and hitting the road in Toby for the last part of our journey to Whataroa and Okarito.

I had spotted the cache when I noticed someone else approaching down the road so I was about to take a photo when the someone asked what I was doing. Said I was just taking a photo and what were they doing? Can't remember what he said at the start but ended up with ... and might find a cache. All good then! I pointed out where it was and he retrieved it and we had a bit of a geocaching chat while we both signed the log. Nice to meet you zzzmee. It turns out I haven't found your cache even though the name of it was familiar to me. TFTC # 17,371
Yeap had to look twice for the hint items and then quick read of some logs so I did not spend anytime looking in the flax bushes . Not my favourite occupation.
Then we had a good look around the wharf building. And learnt more about this interesting part of the coast.

On a PWGT expedition to the South Island with Gorby, RustyNZ, Rebel98 and boneybruce. TFTC!!!
With a group of Westies (rustynz, rebel98, gorby, FMZ and boney bruce) on a caching adventure in the South Island
What a lovely spot for a cache. A fantail flittered all around to keep us company. The Kotuku flew off to the other side of the lagoon (but still by the road) and a shag swam in the waters. We walked out onto the wharf, read the signs, and took many pictures.
As to the cache the log a little damp, but able to sign.
Thanks for the hide DOCSouthwestland, a fun find this morning.

We flew down from Auckland to Nelson for another session upon the PWGT caches and other caches that appeal. This is our last trip for the series and will complete it in the 4 days we have allowed ourselves. On this trip there is myself, rustynz, FMZ, Rebel98 and Bony-Bruce (FMZ’s mascot) starting in Nelson and heading north as far as Abel Tasman and then way south of Fox Glacier. 1500km of driving in our trusty rental.
While the others were at the wharf, I shot off to find this one, spotted a previous log that gave me a better clue as to where to look and found it there. Gorgeous lagoon, I wish I had time to see more of it.

Staying in Hokitika and doing a trip to this area to see the sights. So after helicopting up Franz Josef we came to see the lake. While the others were checking out the nearby board I shot over and grabbed this one. Then it was out onto the wharf to discover the history and see the sights. Thank you for the placement
Another DOC cache and an easy find once I followed the caching trail around the side rather than going straight in! TFTC
#9344. Day 2 of the Easter road trip with Infoferret. We started in Christchurch yesterday and drove to Hokitika via Hanmer Springs, Lewis Pass, Reefton and Greymouth. Today we are heading south to Wanaka over Haast Pass. But first we had to backtrack to pick up a few TMGT caches which I needed and we ran out of time to stop for last night. We are a driving a hybrid car and its proved to be very economical and easily has fuel capacity for the long stretches of road on the West Coast between townships.
The main lagoon is one of the best remaining wetlands in New Zealand. Today a kotuku was feeding not far from the wharf and was watched in the telescope for a while. It was IF's first sighting of this lovely bird and first one I have seen in a few years. At GZ we met up with a friend of IF's from her work. The cache was soon located by IF. We signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks DOCSouthwestland for hiding the cache here.

3 April 2021 14:21. A quick find whilst GSEL was birdwatching. We struck lucky, and spotted a heron wandering around on the other side of the water. They are bigger than I thought they would be! Also bumped into a colleague from work here, NZ is certainly a small world... TFTC.
The outer container is craved yes, but luckily there’s another container inside and the log is dry. So all ok. Thanks again for the great Cache.
Coords were a bit out but we used the hint and the geocaching path and I soon found the cache. We had a look around the wharf with interesting history panels. Imagine getting here in 1865 with all that native bush to push through. The mind boggles.
Continuing on our PWGT journey visiting the top of the Mainland this weekend. Enjoyed our visit to Okarito and lingered for a morning tea stop. No problem with the find TFTC.
I'm pleased for the help from a previous find..my GPS had me in the middle of the road!
thanks DOC.

We have never ventured out here before so we are enjoying reading about the history and wildlife. We are lucky enough to have kotaku and royal spoon bills on our doorstep at home. Thanks for the placement DOCsouthwestland
A nice quick find thanks. DNFed last time we were here, but today all good. Cheers.
Ms_KR and I went for a wee holiday on the West Coast, chasing some of new PWGT over there, and any others we need to find.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Took a bit of searching as the obvious place yielded nothing and the next option was also lacking a cache. Followed a bit of a geotrail to find a pair of glasses and a pen. I figured I must be close. And there it was. Placed the glasses and pen in the cache if their owner is coming back this way. Tftc
We were on a mission to find some of the new tour caches, so after finding the ones based in Westport we headed down the coast. We certainly live in a stunningly beautiful country and driving down the coast today reminded us of this fact.
We have never been here before, this is one of the things we love about geocaching as we get to take the time to stop and visit areas that we used to zoom past.
When I saw what this cache was hidden in I suggested we don't worry about looking for it. GK was keen to have a quick look, thankfully he did as the cache was in the second place he looked. He was well hidden from the nearby muggles as he signed the log. Once it was returned as he found it we went and had a look around the information at the boat ramp, which was very interesting.
Thank you for showing us this place and of course thank you for the smiley

Tyfc nice easy find with kerryowl , very satisfied after putting in extra time in search
That took me a while. My.phone based GPS wouldnt settle to less than 10 metres, so I circled around on a few geo trails, and a few false trails, until I peered in at the right spot.
Fortunately the container is large enough to see from a short distance.
As noted, the container has a hole in it, so I squeezed the log into a pill bottle and put that inside the container

Didn't look very hard as there are a lot of people coming and going so hard to be discrete, plus it looked like I may need to get a bit wet or dirty to get it and I didn't really feel like it.
