This was our last find of the day after one failed attempt at this spot earlier. It has concluded a great day riding along the rail trail whilst finding caches tftc
Cool hiding spot. Thanks. Time to head back to the car and pick up geoparents from Ballarat bridge club.
We came up for the B2S Rail Trail, on this Election Day 2016, purported to be 16C. It's windy, drizzly and COLD. But we are prepared to endure the elements! Thanks for the cache, Fergzter!
So the grand plan was to drive from Geelong to Ballarat with the kids and bikes in a trailer and do some of the Ballarat to Skipton rail trail. 'It's going to be 16 degrees and sunny' says dad. However when we pull up at the start of the trail it's blowing cold rain into our faces. 'Did you check Ballarats forecast' I ask? 'Ummm no' replies geodad. Oh well. We're here now. So off we go. The first five minutes riding to this cache were wet, cold and ugly but things improved as the rain passed while we searched for this first cache. Coords bounced all over the place but we found it in the end. Thank goodness, as a DNF would have been a poor addition to our shaky start. Thanks for the cache
I needed the brolly today, thankfully it was a quick find. Thanks Fergzter, it is good to revisit this section of the BSRT.
On the bike trail with a muggle dog
Dog Likes to stop and sniff everything but can't understand when I want to stop and find a boring tin
Nice walk at sunset

While looking at the map I discovered that I had not logged these few caches in the start of this series after doing them some months ago. I apologise to the CO for the late log. The BSRT was a lot of fun the second time I finished this series, and I was lucky enough to do the others that here here before being archived.
Thanks for this placement

Caching with daughter today. Out enjoying the sunshine. Lest we forget. Tftc
Found on a Monday RDO ride with some members of Whittlesea BUG. Only doing a couple of caches to keep the ride moving.
A few possible spots for this one, but another good cache and the last one for now. Thanks Fergzter.
This was close to where I am staying and a great place to be alone today...well, after I was greeted by the herd of cows at the beginning. Loved this part of the trail. TFTC
A little concerned because the others were so easy. Did find a sharps case with used needles in it. Have removed it.
Found on our way from Phillip Island to Ballarat. Enjoying our month long escape from Tassie, coming to a close soon! Found caches on this trail last time we were in this area, revisiting to pick up the new incarnations. TFTC
1:57:00 PM. Had some spare time this afternoon so decided to have a walk and start this series. We approached it from 2 different parking spots and had a pleasant walk. Will be back this weekend to finish the series. A great walk and a good way to utilise the non used rail corridors. Found and log signed. Thanks Fergzter for placing this cache.
On a quick trip to pick up a purchase and thought we would do some
caching along the way. Turned a favour into some fun. Thanks to
Fergzter for the placement if these caches. TNLN SL TFTC.

Two birds, one stone makes for a happy and fun caching weekend with a little work in the mix.
Our trip was nicely broken up with nice collection of well-placed and varied caches.
Many thanks to Fergzter for the effort and placement of this cache TNLN SL.

Had a few minutes to revisit this cache location today, a quick find after a short walk.

Our aim for today was to look for caches on the BSRT that had been published since our last visit, namely the five caches at the Ballarat end and those between Scarsdale and Linton. We started early to try to avoid walking in the hottest part of the day.
Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find of a very well hidden and constructed cache container. The cache and contents were in good condition although the logbook was full. We would have left a temporary replacement logbook but there was sufficient room. Instead we left a strip of paper as an interim measure. Thanks Fergzter for this cache and others in the series.

Heading over to Ballarat for a caching weekend and picking up a few caches on the way.
We managed to find about 230 caches in 3 days/ot bad work for 3 old guys
This series was why we came over to Ballarat.
We woke to a misty day and luckily it stayed overcast until we finished.
It was interesting to see the cache hides change as the hiders changed. We weren't fans of the bison tubes in the trees but that's the way it goes sometimes.
We missed a few but it didn't matter too much as there are lots more to find.
Thanks for an excellent series.

What ever the last finder said.
The 3FW's from SA have invaded Ballarat and headed for the BSRT. Find, sign, cycle, repeat... Saturday was a great day to be on the trail. Fog at the beginning and the sun just coming out at the end. We found all of the caches except two. One was missing and we left a replacement log. The other was just too good for us. You can't find them all.

Day 2 of our caching trip to Ballarat with Freddo and Team Waldron, we had an ejoyable ride along this trail finding the caches as we went, logs were signed 3FW to save space in the log books.TFTC
Coming from a railway family, I love a great rail trail, and all the history involved. Throw wonderful nature and some geocaches into the mix and its pretty damn perfect. I dusted off the bike and decided to tackle the first part of BSRT; all caches were found - does it get any better?
Huge thanks to the wonderful COs involved in setting up and maintaining this series.
TNLNSL TFTC replaced as found
This first one took me longer than it should have - maybe if I'd read the hint I wouldn't have been poking around in the trees. Luckily it wasn't an omen of things to come.

We found your cache BSRT - A New Beginning
The cache is in good shape.

We decided to make a start on this series.. on foot. So, one stage for us today where we found 4/5 caches along the way. The 5th was guarded by muggles both coming and going. A classic railway hide on what little remains of this once active branch line. Thanks Fergzter.
Found 11:19:00 AM, whilst out with Muzza for our first joint caching expedition for 2016. Today we headed to Ballarat to allow Muzza to complete his terrain/difficulty grid.
TNLN, thanks Fergzter (F=1856 H=96).

Early start on the BSRT before the heat gets here, this rail trail is worth doing.

Now my ride back to Smythesdale.

No.56 of 56 for today.
After completing the Linton to Scarsdale part of the BSRT on our bicycles which we had planned to do for the the day, we now had the rest of the day to locate other finds. As we headed into Ballarat we chose a few icons to turn into smilies along the way. Now in Ballarat, we discovered that the start of the Rail Trail has five new hides so we thought we may as well tackle those - on foot - seeing how today started out to be a BSRT day.
This cache was at the start of the Rail Trail where you actually see part of the old railway line and for us it was the end of our caching day. As FUF009 was ahead of us he had already located this one by the time we got there.
Now its time to walk back to the van, head into Ballarat for a bite to eat and then head for home.
56 in one day - wow - Now all I have to do is log them and that will take forever and a day.

No.55 for today.
Found with Tyred n Cranky
It was done, we had came down with a plan and had now finished the Linton to Scarsdale leg of the BSRT, there for it is now all found (until more placements)
With the bikes loaded up we though about making a few more finds on our way into Ballarat, so a look at the GPSr and a plan was organised to turn some icons to smilies.
OOPS checking the GPSr I realised that there has been a few new caches up closer to Ballarat on the BSRT so it was only fitting that we got these to say for sure we had the full set, for the time being.
A little weird that our last cache for the day was called "A New Beginning"
I had an idea that this one was where the old cache was but soon double backed as the arrow was now pointing behind me.

Suscoe headed out today for a trip up to Ballarat to sort out some caches that have been on our "to do list".
This was find number 7 for the day.
It was a pleasant day with some cloud cover and it started out with some persistent drizzle and ended up with some bright sunshine. It was very windy all day long!!!!!!!!
With Mrs. S still recovering we set off with the wheelchair along the trail.
Thanks to Fergzter for placing this cache here.
Great to see part of the old line here, a most enjoyable walk and wheel.
Now back to the car with one more to find.

I stopped to log this cache while staying in Ballarat. My trusty hire bike is serving me well. Thanks for the hide.
Late Entry. Found with Cherad, muggle pa and the geo kids. Thanks for placing this cache here. We enjoyed the stroll. Left nothing, took nothing, cache in good condition.
Enjoying an evening of caching in Ballarat with family trying to turn some of the local trads into smilies. As the fitter team member wasn't with me today , I cheated and got the 2 caches closest to the roads, so another visit will be needed to finish off this section. Thanks Fergzter for planting more caches here again.
It was great to be able to get out and walk further than what I've been allowed to of late. Tftc
Kenare, Sean.75 and I are doing this part of the rail trail before catching up with Jenno3 to do another later on. tftc
Back again 3rd day in a row Although it wasn't in the spot my device said to look it was a very quick find all the same. A good cache container that is nice and dry inside. I was lucky to beet the rain today. Thanks Fergzter
We are on a road trip to attend "The Melbourne Event" Mega, taking our time to get there and on the return journey. Fortunately, there were lots of caches along the way to tempt us to stop for a while to smell the roses. This was one of those caches.
We had made our way to Ballarat to attend the GIFF Event and to spend a few days in the area before heading off to Melbourne. We decided we would complete some caches while in the area. We found the cache easily enough and with our name in the log book, we were off to find a few more.
Thank you Fergzter for having placed the cache for everyone to enjoy

It felt as though we were on a familiar trail today - We had to widen our search from where the GPS'r originally indicated, what a neat way to make a new start, using a container with a good grip on the situation. It was really the "New Ending" for us this morning, now for the short ride back to Blind Creek Road!
Satellites today had our GZ 9m ENE of where we found the cache.
Our thanks to Fergzter for reinstating this section of the trail.

Well we were down in the big smoke today, looking to buy a new fridge. However there was no household appliance large enough to stop me from caching.
No sir!
We dropped into the mother-in-laws and I generously offered to go and get some fuel in the car.....and grab a few sneaky caches while I did so.
Parking the car at Winter's Swamp I wandered up the BSRT grabbing these new additions to the Ballarat caching scene.
Well this was the final one before I turned on my heel and marched right on back.
A bit different to the others but I really loved this one.
I think the location had a bit to do with it. Also the fact that this cache is in the Guinness Book of Records as containing the smallest pencil known to man (or woman) kind.
When I was younger I once broke 10 records....I really hated those Patsy Biscoe and Kamahal albums.
TFTC Fergzter!

On our way for a long weekend bushwalking in the Grampians we stopped in Ballarat for lunch and a few caches while we were here. Found this one easily enough at 1:20pm as we walked back over the replaced section of the series. Now back to the car and on with our journey, having successfully found the 5 replacement caches.

It was really windy and we nearly got blown away but managed to hold on and find all the caches before making it back to the car ahead of the rain.

A quick trip to Ballarat this afternoon for an appointment and with an hour to spare it was a chance to pick up these new caches. Took a bit of a search for this one but after reading the clue and the name of the cache, it was quickly found and logged. Thanks for adding to the series Fergzter.
We are staying in Smythesdale for a couple of nights. Being conveyed to Linton to do the BSRT back to Smythesdale plus grab a couple of others. Most grateful that I included the "LRT" (log recovery tool) in my pocket as it came in handy to retrieve several logs from their caches. The ride was pleasant, cool enough for no wriggly-sticks.
Trying to make a note for each cache with an average spacing of about 200M on one's own when cycling is virtually impossible and to recall each of dozens of caches at the end of a day just wouldn't happen. Sorry for the generic logs.
It is great (we don't think so) that we cannot get NBN and have to use mobile data internet. Our service either goes "down" to at best very slow. Sometime soon my finds of 12/10/2015 will all be logged.
Thanks to cache owners for the experience.
Enjoyed the flora and fauna along the trail.
Have just had a reality check - solo riding on a cache bombed trail is far more time consuming than estimated. From here on if a hide is not quickly found, it will be logged as a DNF to ensure the clock does not well and truly get me into further "time debt"!
Was hoping to be able to complete the trail from Linton to Wendouree. After becoming "time poor", abandoned that thought and went to our Wendouree commitment and walked the last few caches on the trail. Will return to complete the "trail" gap missed.

Last night a friend stayed over so we thought a geo walk would be good activity after school drop off today. We headed off and master 4 easily found most of the caches. For some reason the middle one eluded us. A quick text to the CO had me sorted and cache was collected on way back. A lovely part of the trail here. So lucky this is so close to home. A few munzees on the walk back was a bonus too! Thanks for the new caches Fergzter
Well this one had me hunting for a while. Decided that I needed to look more carefully after reading the clue. That worked.
