Logs
With the great concrete trail that is here now the log and the cache have both been removed. May look at reinstating sometime in the future.
No luck here but I wasn't overly surprised that the log has gone now the new path is in place. Too many muggles passing by for a thorough search. Maybe the cache owner is able to locate or replace?
Searched for a really long time, in between muggle interruptions and this one completely had us stumped
Wow. No finds since 2020! 2.4 years ago. And its not like we are out in the wops either. Sure, it was a slightly tricky find, but only slightly.I gave up on my phone pretty quickly - it is not great under tree cover, and switched to the hint. Found fairly quickly after that.
A four day weekend? Yes, the boss gave us all an extra day off, just for the heck of it! So I headed to Wanganui and maybe Hawera to de-green the area. This river trail is one part that needed addressing.

Was out biking about and checked on this cache. It is still in place.
Just a reminder that you have to use your imagination as to what the terrain/log was when the cache was out in place.
The large log is well covered and overgrown these days.

We descended the bank with some difficulty, and after applying the hint, soon spotted the cache. TFTC
On the first of April 2016 we logged a DNF here, BUT today we are back and pretty keen to turn the blue sad face into a smiley yellow face.
After parking across the road from this one the phone said we were 27 metre's away plus or minus 106m yay i thought not off to a great start so off to ground zero we went but the closer we were supposed to get to GZ we were still the same distance we were at the car, oh well lets try the hint no luck with that either. so after about half an hour looking at all possible hiding places headed back to the car empty handed,as I was getting back in the car and mrs watcache said any luck I shook my head, so she said lets both have a look so back we go teamed up with exsaveya and stand above gz and we looked down on where we had been looking and had an ah ha moment I wonder so back down the bank and what would you know bingo how did we miss it.
So we signed the log and replaced as found.
thanks for the cache and the yellow smiley face

Up in Wanganui (from Wellington) for the weekend and grabbing a few caches along the way. This was one of them. Always good to transform a previous DNF to to a happy face. Having been here before I knew where I wanted to look, and sure enough the cache was quickly spotted in a place I know I checked last time. Can't believe I missed it, but then that's not the first time that's happened. All good here now, TFTC
#8314. We came up to Whanganui yesterday to attend the Community Celebration event at CastleCliff. I decided a few weeks ago to spend the weekend in the River City. Infoferret decided to join me on the weekender as her family was going mountain-biking in Rotorua. So we spent the day mainly picking up caches IF had not yet found. I have done very little caching in the River City so everything was new for me as well.
IF had looked for this one previously and not found it. Today we scrambled down and read the hints and description. Searched for a while in the wrong area before moving to a new spot where suddenly IF noticed the container with its camo but no lid and logbook. This spot fitted the hint exactly. Added a new log sheet. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache in the location best matching the hint. Thanks Let's go looking! for hiding the cache here.

30 August 2020 11:09 AM conrainer only, no log so replacement added by GSEL . Tftc, another one for the 2.5+ of the DGSC CHALLENGE.
We stumbled up this by accident. Cache was open laying on the grass and it’s contents were strewn about. Logbook is drenched but have taken a photo of it to show CO for proof if needed. Have put back into a position for the next cacher. TFTC!
Woohoo! Almost gave up but found it! All in good condition, swapped some swag. Thanks!
Up from Wellington, visiting Wanganui for the weekend, and out for a stroll on a beautiful Friday evening. No luck here tonight
Scrambled around for too long so bailed out and headed for another...we will be back.
A great day to be out caching and watching the river traffic. This cache took us way too long. Lots of cutty grass and Karaka trees left us scrambling too far up the bank. Happy to finally get a smiley.
Found 11.35pm
Today,s challenge was to collect all the TMGT caches in the greater Wellington area plus anything else we could find.
Morning started from Marton with a DNF. Hoping this was not a bad omen.
Anyway things improved and we got everything we wanted for the day and ending back in Whanganui.
Collected also some interesting caches and probably my fav for the day was the caves. Also some amazing history in this area.
Thanks to all the cache owners for these placements. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... This weekend’s mission was about completing the North Island leg of the TMGT. It involved a fairly extensive road trip through the Wellington, Manawatu/Whanganui, and Taranaki regions. We also made a plan to pick up other caches along our driving route...
This was not the easiest of finds at night. In poor light, a few things looked like matching the hints. We ascended and descended the hillside a couple of times. The time ticked by... Finally, Gap ventured onto a different angle and the hints aligned. This became our last find for today. Thanks Let’s go looking! TFTC.

With just a few minutes to spare before a meeting i donned my gumboots and went walk abouts. It certainly took a while to locate as the said covered log is certainly covered!
thank you for the cache Two left for next visit.
thank you for the cache Two left for next visit.
Found after a fair search as the grass had grown giving it good camoflage. Tftc.
It was evening and I read dog instead of log in the hint ..so we brocke our search off ..might be back tomororw for the logdog..
Back to another scene of a previous D N F and struck it rich this time. I reckon the hint has changed since I last looked here and after a bit of a search the cache was tracked down in a place I thought I'd checked thoroughly before (that's what they all say). Grabbed the one resident TB to move it on.

After a morning out caching in Bulls and Marton I headed back to Whanganui for lunch and to see if the family wanted to head out in the strengthening breeze for a walk along the Castlecliff waterfront, then riverside path. We went out and had a nice walk, and I managed to turn a couple of previous (missing) cache hunts into successful outcomes this time.
Day 4 and it's a day to grab a few numbers just for the numbers. With too many late starts and lie-ins I decided to get up with the lark (8 o clock) and head out after a quick n easy breakfast. I grabbed quite a few sheep, some herbs to accompany them as well as a revisit to a couple of previous DNFs. Over 30 finds for the day and a good day to be out and about in the Spring sunshine, and occasional raindrops.
Thanks to all the CO s for their hides.
I have had some holiday leave booked for a while now and we are heading North on the ferry, along with the Cache-Qai, and off to Rangitikei to visit our daughter, her partner and our son. First time this many members of the family have been together for a few years so should be good. The plan was half day in work followed by heading off after lunch, then arriving early evening in W(h)anganui to catch up with kids. We're on the North island for a week so there will sure to be some cache found whilst in the area. My Marlborough and Tasman finds have been inching slowly but surely towards my Manawatu/Rangitikei finds but this trip will be sure to redress that balance again for a few more years I'm sure.

A bad day’s geocaching is always better than a good day at work, so Juty Bug & I have taken a good day to go on a Geocaching road trip from Taranaki that turned out a great day. Juty Bug has mostly cleaned out Whanganui but I’m a long way from that, so we concentrated on ‘new’ caches, interspersed with closing out previous DNFs.
This one was one of those elusive caches that I couldn’t find two years ago. Easy find this time. Nice size cache with plenty of swag. Dropped off Grace the Penguin to continue a different journey. Thanks for the company. TFTC

Down in Wanganui for a drive and a few Caches. I hadn't expected to be wandering off track...but after making our way down and around we soon found our treasure. TFTC
Decided that I needed to go on a road trip to get some caches and to try and get enough points to complete the Planetary Pursuit, wasnt quite sure that I was going to get there or not so hatch a plan with Mr-McGoo to team up go to Wanganui / Whanganui and pick up a few caches.
This was my 18th cache for this trip as we made our way around Wanganui, saw this cache on my list and as my trusty chauffeur made our way towards GZ. We decided it was time to get back on to Somme Parade and make our way towards the CBD and pick up a few more caches along the way. This was the next cache we had on our list to find today, arriving near GZ we managed to find a parking spot not too far away from GZ
The walk down to GZ was interesting as we had to initally find a path down to the bottom walkway and from there it was a matter of following the well unbeaten, and over grown path to GZ, even had a couple of young muggles from above ask if we were playing Pokemon, and I said yes. The walk didnt take long as we neared GZ it wasnt long before I soon had the cache in hand.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced as we found, thanks Let's go looking! for placing this clever cache here and for bringing us to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13232), now to make it back to the car.

On a caching trip to Wanganui with Yeetrees. It was an early start where we left Wellington at 5am and spend the morning there caching before heading home in the afternoon. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

We've been unable to cache (for various reasons) for such a long time....we decided it, bugger it....we're just gonna do it! Called up the RiffRaff (plus a new addition to the camp) and decided to hit the caches that we've wanted to do for so long but couldn't.
The path from Myth to Otunui is the hardest going - after Otunui it gets a lot easier - there's a wider track further on. Took us quite a while to navigate as we were very mindful of Mrs RRR's knee - but it was all good, no damage.
Had a good idea of what we were looking for but couldn't lay our hands on it, so checked the hint and the logs and renewed our search. Mrs RRR had been hitting it with her walking pole and scratching it around it for ages (it was WELL covered) but it took the new RiffRaff addition to finally lay hands on the cache who then promptly threw it cos there was a spidey on it. LOL. Contents retrieved, log signed and as there was no easy way out, or up, to carry on to the next one (even with threatening weather).
Well, we haven't lost the touch. LOL. TFTC LGLNZ

Nope.... not this one today... rummaged around for a bit then where thought log was then widened search and thought found the log, reaching into a nice cubby hole felt something! Yay I thought, was wedged in pretty good, got it out and nope! It was an old sprite can filled with dirt. Bugger. After breaking jandle couple times I thought better give this one up
#9849. A riverside ramble in Whanganui. GZ was all quiet when we visited. This one took a long search. Noting that the cache owner had just checked on the cache which was still here three days ago, we persevered. Widened the search area … used the additional hints … read previous logs … and then eventually found the log (which was no longer very clear now) … and then the cache. Got an averaged GPS reading of 4 metres. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

I have yet again checked on the cache which is still there. Coords can vary here but they will put you close enough that if you take in your surroundings you will spot the well covered log.
If all else fails, the hint should solve it for you?

Did not attempt. Given the recent DNFs in multiples I didn't spend time on this one.
We walked into town and back today from the Whanganui River Top 10 Holiday Park, following the riverside and caching as we went. An enjoyable stroll with plenty to keep us amused.
Chris stayed on the top path whilst I climbed between the bars and followed the little track down to search for this one. No luck and I had to return sooner than I’d wanted as a man had approached Chris and seemed suspiciously over friendly, offering to share a ‘smoke’ with him! We think he was probably stoned. The joys of urban caching!

Didn't see any vegetating log where the phone indicated I'm afraid. We gave up after this as it was so wet and muddy.

too nicer day means to many non cachers around. Busy place on a sunday afternoon. Had a bit of a look . but no find today
Out with Red Roaming on our trip to New Zealand. What a lovely country. It is a beautiful warm sunny day. We have just booked in to the nearby excellent BBC hostel and are doing an evening stroll along the river. We were going to do this one on our way back but now it was completely dark and given the last logs we decided to leave this one
This was my only DNF of the series, only found the spade and a hint item but too overgrown for any success under the trees. Great series, well done
Given the DNF, stopped by today to find the cache is where it should be. It does take some looking for and the log which is in the hint, is now well camoed due to the growth on the river bank.
Wow that one took some searching for but had to return armed with a bit of hint and I wasn't leaving until it was signed. Thankfully I can say we got it and all is well. Tftc
I didn't locate this cache despite a fairly extensive search. I decided to move upstream and hopefully find a couple of others to maybe give me an idea of the container types the cache owner uses and how they hide caches. Two caches in the series were found but I don't think I really learnt anything useful. However, I was encouraged to have a second look on my way back to my car. Same result; although I did manage to find a shovel in a tree!?
Out with DDT and KButterfly to pick up a few wanganui caches. Rambling along the river.
Thanks.
Thanks.
another DNF here for us today, we obviously don't have our eyes on this time or the last maybe better luck next time
Came South to grab a puzzle cache for the third Mission Impossible challenge: a Mystery cache. After stopping the night freedom camping at the Moutoa Quay I thought I'd grab a few of the riverside ramble caches before heading home - **but it was not to be!** No idea why that was so. When grabbing these type of caches / trails, I usually just leave the geocamper running and lock it with the spare keys. After a long fruitless search I arrived back at the vehicle with the neighbours in the process of ringing the Police. Running vehicle; no one about or in the vehicle. I think they thought a terrorist car bombing was coming to Whanganui! **Some people eh?!** As a result of my frustration and time wasted here I decided I wasn't up to this today, didn't bother with another and headed out of town. Another day! Bugger!
I am 110% found this in the past and i dont know why I hadnt logged it only back here to help watcache find it and had no luck I know where i was meant to be looking but maybe all the leaves are making it harder
Took me quite a while. It also took me a while to clinb down from the road to the riverside, and when I came close, I saw... a nice path coming down
But found it!
But found it!
We are adding to the DNF. We focused on the biggest of the hint items but were unsuccessful.
Given a number of DNFs on this cache, I took a stroll down the riverbank late this afternoon and found that this cache is still where I left it, all in order and waiting to be found.
Look closely before you search - Happy caching.

In town for the Vintage Weekend event, which was great, and managed a bit of time to find some caches as well. Really enjoyed doing this series alongside the river, quite a variety of interesting hides but sadly this one eluded me today.

I saw this trail on the map and though this might be a good walk for today. But unfortunatly it wasn't. We could only find 2 out of 4 and our GPS was all over and it was very bushy. So it didn't make sense to continue this series. But this one was very good.

Had to wait for a tractor tyre to be repaired, so decided to attack some more of the local caches still remaining.
This one took us the longest to find. The GPS was jumping around a bit but we knew the general area it had to be, just focused on the wrong bit.
Left a pet rock - a hedgehog. TFTC LGL

This was targeted as our cache of the day, place looks less inviting at night time
Also allot less chance of peoples.
Took a few mins, as geo goggles were fixated on wrong thing, but all became clear after a glimpse of the treasure container was had. Pretty sure the hint item isn't going anywhere anytime soon !
Still dry down here after the sprinkling of rain we have had this week, Log in hand and scribbling time over, Jesserfly and myself left our trinkets before tucking in the loot container for the night.
Cheers

Over this way for bbq breakfast with friends at Turakina Beach. Popped in to Wanganui to get some caches, but only had time to find this one. I found the bank quite steep, but quickly found the cache. Thanks for the cache.
{*FTF*} Found a way to GZ which was probably not the best but I made it nearly right on top of it. Stray gumboot lying on the path. Odd, but nothing to do with cache. Nice camo. Signed log and returned cache back to hiding spot and then onto the next riverbank ramble hide. TFTC and the FTF LGL
