Cactus - Always good while they last.

Thanks Guys.

This cache has had it day unfortunately. I have asked Drewin if he could visit and remove this cache. I was there last weekend but unaware of its present failings to keep the moisture at bay. It will be another fortnight before I will be back in Newcastle so soon after Drewin has a moment to remove it and post a find I will archive. He may choose to replace it with one of his own as it is quite a nice location.

This cache should be archived or replaced. Found cache container half full of water. The cache contents in the bag STUNK and are starting to grow mould. The logbook is very damp which makes it hard to write in.

After the disappointing (and embarrassing) DNF at Goosey Lucy I bade farwell to the female constituents of the Loon Household to try and find at least 1 cache during our holidays. They went to play in the park, and so did I. Continuing on from where Goosey was I headed up and over the ridge following the ever-faithful needle on the GuPpuS.

Eventually the needle swung off track and I dove into the bush. The cache was located quickly not far from the track and I retreated a safe distance to fill out the log. The cache itself is still a bit damp inside and the contents were a bit on the low side, so I took nothing and added a surf leash (for your keys I think) to restock things a bit. The mozzies were getting a bit much so I rehid the stash and headed back to reunite with the family before checking out the koalas & birds along the boardwalk.

Cache find 2 of 5 for Today Mrs-Mix found it very easily, but the walk was a bit much with a pram and bags and what have you. We had some take away and went to look at the animals on the way.

Found by Ray and Maya (The Nomads) on 26th June, 2003 at 11-55AM, again we were lucky with the weather, and the rain held off to give us a nice walk to the cache, this is such a pretty area, a real family outing spot. Found the cache easily and we decided to take the note book and place it into the other cache nearby, together with a new container. Thanks from the Nomads.

Another easy find although Mrs Bat I think had a heart attack on the way to this one. Excellent hiding spot. The colour of the fire-engine red flip top box matched in well with the bright yellow sky. Perhaps I am colour blind. Anyway, as with Goosey Lucy it is a great place for a picnic.

No swaps. Thanks Bronze.

Hi,
Unfortunately I no longer live in the hunter area. I will be returning a couple of times a year. I will only have time to maintain two caches - Noonan's Discover and Monkerai Marvel so when this cache is cactus please notify me and I will archive it.

In the meantime I will endeavour to educate the locals of my new home Dubbo in the 'why' and 'hows' of Caching, so if your in the area drop in for a cuppa.

Took body scrub glove and left Biggles Bear “Mexican Marauder†campaign card.

Went GeoCaching for the first time with A-6 today. We found this Cedar Retreat Cache first. It was a little damp but otherwise fine. Better let A-6 take the most credit as I was really only tagging along trying to get my GPS sorted. I'll be caching for a long time to come, thanks for the great introduction! BTW it seems the Park Rangers don't like people poking around the bushes so keep an eye out and if possible carry a small portable UHF CB and scan the channels, it helped myself and A-6 hightail it out of there before getting busted!!!

Smile Found this one without any trouble-easy run for new etrex.Took a virgin cacher (Gazza021) out for the first time-he is hooked (and had purchased himself an Etrex too).Container was a bit wet-we removed the fish scaler as was sharp and rusty. The log book was wet too.Removed geomonkey for relocation to another cache.Took monster toy and left some goodies as well as calling card-cant remember exactly what though.Uhf handheld picked up some interesting chatter about some people in the scrub allegedly stripping the native flora. We took the container to the nearest picnic tables rather than look suss in the bush.Nice job Bronze Smile

I will attend to repairing this cache this weekend. I am slowly replacing those types of caches with better ones but the kids are getting fed up with milo and wont go back onto formula instead of rice bubbles.

Sorry about the dissapointment of a soaked cache and I think about them there everytime it rains.

Second cache of the day. The contents of this cache are well and truly soaked and things are getting mouldy. As the log was beyond use I signed the plastic bag.

Found it this time, the additional message heled, I had the posy smack on the road way, now we know it was buried at the base of the hollow tree it became much easier. The items are drowning in water though.

We now have three of bronze's discs, and are holding them ranson pending a payment of $5000,000 for their return, otherwise they will be placed into other cache boxes in the USA in 2 months.

Brought along Spook's kids for the three caches in this area, giving them both a turn each at using the GPS and clues to track them down.
Smile
My turn to drive the GPS on this one, with both kids tearing along the paths while I called out remaining distance info. Heading from Goodie Gum Drops we headed upwards/west, but then decided to go bush on a more direct route.

Once back on the path, Mitchell took his map and clues and shot down the hill past the cache site. Norman hung back a little using the clues, and found it easily. Didn't notice any signal degradation at all (guess the sky gods were happy that day).

The kids were a little disappointed Sad with this one as the container was half full of water, and the log page was unusable. Norman volounteered to leave his map behind with a notation, and we tried to clean it up as best we could, and give it a little more protection with some bark bits.

No swaps on this one, the contents a little sparse, but still a fun find.

Nice one Bronze.

Well Done
Used the new GPS with the inbuilt compass and went straight to the point. A beautiful day and a nice walk from the bottom carpark. Cache was well covered. Thanks for the Hints
Left a fish scaler and took the yo yos

My god this one is deceptively tricky, with the trees blocking satelite signal enough to cause some problems with position error, with my gps hitting error up to 38m. In the end I found the average zero, and going from the hint of needing to be short to find this easily proceeded to look through the bracken on the wrong side of the path for at least half an hour. Finally got the hint it must be on the other side of the path but where?. Then I noticed it and sure enough there was the cache. Deserately tried to get to goosey loosey, but fading light beat me.
Good one Bronze...

This was our third cache for the day. The kids gave up decoding the hints, I should have cheated and deencrypted it before we went, the extra hints may have come in handy because we couldn,t find this time.

we came in from the top car park, we decided to drive around to the bottom car park and look for goodi goodi gum drops but a car accident at the entrance prevented us from entering so we went home. Try again another day.

Just a note to let you all know that I checked the two caches in this area and left a third.
They are called 'Red Cedar Retreat'; 'Goodie Goodie Gum Drops' and 'Goosey Lucy'. The last two were of course named by my sons.

Everything is intacted, dry and a couple of diary entries have been added.

This area is great for picnicing and walking, with plenty to see and do. We spent a couple of hours strolling round on a wonderful sunny day.
Found the cache quite exposed, and a bit too close to a thoroughfare for our liking (we had to lay quieting in the bush until the people had passed by).
Took nothing, and left a Chuppa Chup.
