A shame the original functionality of this cache is long gone but the cache is in a surprisingly dry and good condition. 4-year-old grandson asked us to take him geocaching one day so we chose this cache as his first (though he "helped" us find one when he was a baby). He managed to spy it and was excited to find it.
A nice jog along the track and adjacent to Gap Creek that was relatively dry. My map had the cache on the other side of the river, and as I was about to cross, I realised my GPSr was actually pointing behind me. It then didnt take long to find the cache and its remnants; it looked to have been built quite well, but unfortunately now showing its age / past its prime. No mechanism, but its cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks grantmatt018 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.----------Today, I headed west to Brookfield and Pullendale area and targeted the *axe and pick* geoart series that were accessible from the road (or short walks).I started in Kenmore and Kenmore Hills, and then ventured north to Brookfield where I walked/jogged some of the trails in Gold Creek Reserve. It was then time to pick up the *axe and pick* geoart series in Upper Brookfield and Pullendale, and then another enjoyable walk in Moggill Conservation Park. My remaining time was then utilised to visit Bellbowrie and Moggill for a few last geocaches. A terrific winter blue sky day!
Good find, luckily one of the kids spotted some kookaburras and they were sitting right on top of it. Nice hide
I had a bunch of caches in the Brookfield area to collect, so popped geodoggo in the car and headed in that direction.
I enjoyed the pathway to gz, very peaceful. I quickly found one part of the cache and spent the next 15 mins trying to figure out how to get to it. With no success I turned to head back to geodoggo and found the other part of the cache - awesome as it was what I was really looking for! Log signed, all replaced as found.
Thanks grantmatt018 for the cache.

Greeted by some friendly large black ants for this cache!! Thank you for our second find of the day!
My second visit here today. A beautiful sunny day today and it was much easier to see than when I was last here in the rain. Obviously not what it was meant to be anymore.
Quick find on an afternoon where the weather looks rather threatening. Watched a muggle and her dog play fetch in the park before making my way to the hide.
Hoping to squeeze a few n before the skies open up.
Cheers

This is my second visit to this one. The last time I came it was dusk and I could not spot anything in the trees. All was silhouetted. So today I brought my daughter with good eyes and the geohound for good measure.
It turned out those measures were not required as I spotted it on approach. I could see the older part of the cache in the distance too. Shame this one is in disrepair. It would have been good to see it in all its glory.

Found signed and then I removed some of the cache junk from the site.
Hopefully, CO can return this to its former glory.
Thank you

Lovely way to start our caching morning with the drive over Gap Creek Road and then a wander along this hidden pathway, being serenaded by various birds. Quite a different type of cache hide. All is safe and dry here. TFTC grantmatt018
After a quick look around, spied the cache and used a natural tool to retrieve. Lovely area. Cache in good condition. TFTC
Once we had found the path in to this geocache, we found ourselves enjoying a lovely quiet stroll along the creek, past well-constructed butterfly-attracting infrastructure, accompanied by chirping birds all the way. The creek had a decent amount of lovely clear water in it, but no turtles or birds that I could see. Once we got to GZ, DisSister spotted the Geocaching, we found a suitable tool, and soon had it in hand. It was in good condition and we enjoyed this peaceful morning stroll.

Found the container hanging but bits of stuff were everywhere. It looks like this might need some TLC. Thanks for the cache
Hunting down a few cache's in the area today with Liz & Bruce and Chamad. This was a nice quick find due to multiple eyes at GZ.
TFTC.

Out today with Team Tyrrell and Liz and Bruce collecting puzzle caches and anything else in the area. This was one of today’s collections; while we were mainly concentrating on the sound series of caches it was hard not to collect others as we passed by. It was a fun day with lots of laughs and joking along the way, I’d be happy to cache any day with these people.
All good with this cache, thank you to the CO for placing this one here.

Out with chamad and team tyrell today finding caches in the area. Thanks for hiding and giving us the opportunity to explore this area.
Nice easy trail to GZ. As others have said, the mechanism is broken. Would have been interesting to see how it worked when new. Tftc.
I could never hope to compete with a woodyrothwell log... so entertaining... and in this case accurate... I’ve left a temporary log in a new snap lock bag while removing the mush and other assorted items to try and give what remains of this cache some life... tftc...
found, clever system but really broken, cache still findable but paper too wet to write on
We thought that somewhere today we were going to come across mud and corruption. Thankfully the government has funded a new highway that takes you directly to GZ so you can keep your feet dry.
There are some volunteers that look after park and we ran across one on the way out. He was weeding and planting and whenever you come across strangers in the bush (like us) you immediately suspect the worse. Whilst they may be looking after the vegetation and improving the area, they could also be plotting the country’s next political coo.
Thankfully a range of TOTTs have been left all over the place so retrieval is a lot easier than it once might have been. I’m amazed the garden do-gooders haven’t cleaned them all up while they formulate their nefarious plans. tftc

Cache Sitrep after checking on my way through today.
- Cache ‘mechanism’ is broken due to wear and tear
- significant colony of biting ants have taken up residence in cache and ‘mechanism’
- Have contacted CO offering to adopt this cache and another in the series . No response.
- CO Account doesn’t show any activity for several years

️Warning: Several of the ‘mechanisms’ involved in this cache are broken and require repair. Don’t jiggle them either! You’re likely to showered with biting ants which have taken up residence in various parts. ️
Great cache and fun location.
Unfortunately, very angry ants have taken up residence and the mechanism suffers for it...

After being beaten to a FTF by the KrispyKremers (they're a sneaky bunch) we diverted to logging some local smileys . Thought we nailed it initially until we realised we were staring down the camouflaged lense of a BCC Fauna Monitoring camera. Whoops . Enjoy that footage , BCC employees . CIH shortly after but as has been mentioned previously , (and despite a creative design), it is in need of repair. TFTC
Quick find with bennyboppers and jemillalucy today after a nice stroll along the path. As previous finders have mentioned, needs maintenance. Tftc
Cache find no 74! This cache needs some maintenance and would of taken longer if it was in working order but other than that good cache in a good location! tftc!
A short stroll along the creek, and noticed something odd. Pity the original concept no longer works, great idea. TFTC
Back in 2012 There were a couple of other caches along this trail that I found, and sadly haven't been back since until today. It is certainly a very pretty walk through beside the creek and away from the bustle of traffic and nearby houses. Unfortunately (or probably fortunately) the cache is not located away from the bustle of tiny ants who have made the mechanism their home, and clogged the works so it doesn't (work that is.). The result is the cache is in plain sight, and easy to log. A great cache hide, Grantmatt018. TFTC.
I'm sheltering under an umbrella tree as I write this log. An easy find in the rain. Tftc
This one took a bit of searching but I eventually spotted it. The cache does not return so much these days - looks like lots of dirt blocking the mechanism. The container itself is very full with ants! But I managed to sign. TFTC!
Doing an autumn run out west with Gcoven to collect more of the solved pick 'n' hammer GeoArt series. With these puzzles locked away, had some time to collect a few on the way home. This trail looked interesting on the map so a stop by was always going to happen.
Good to stretch the legs after a number of earlier drive bys. Interesting cache container. Had a few issues with getting the mechanism started but once I got an appropriate local tool, had the cache in hand. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache grantmatt018, worthy of a FP.

This was an awesome cache! Really unique and best one we’ve found in Brookfield. TFTC!
Tftc. It really is harder to retrieve the cache. I got bitten by several mosquitos. You better spray yourself before you go there.
Got to the gx to where I think it should be but couldn't spot t and had to go. Will be back to hunt another time.
We had appointments that were meant to last all day, but they didn't so we got out to play! This took a very long time and the mozzies had a field day. Twice we walked away but on the second I was reading past logs and got a hint of what I was looking for! Then it was a matter of spotting it. Finally we found it!
A day out with 1MinnieMoo and Nyssabutteryfly, we rendezvoused at this cache, after a after a short search we found the cache and determined the best way to grab it, an interesting cache. We gave it a clean out from the ants and soggy paper, and replaced it back in its hidey hole.
Thanks
Thanks
I think the best way to start a morning is to misplace your keys so you have to search for them and be a little late Every bloody day though!!!!
With Jelly the Wonderdog this morning I managed to jog/run/wish I was dead/skip/prance/kind of walk really fast.... half a kilometre in no time at all!!! I swear it was under 3 minutes, and still met up with 1MinnieMoo and totalube at this cache. They were ever suprised to see me! Just as they were putting it back in it's former location I announced I needed to sign the log. Geez Nyssa!
Happily the cache was retrieved again and I was able to leave my scribble.
Thanks for the cache grantmatt018

A day off work requires filling with fun, and what better way to spend it than caching with some awesome peeps?!
So, plans were made for totalube and I to head out here. And of course an invite was extended to the lovely NyssaFlutterby, who was keen to join us, along with Jelly the Wonderdog.
The morning came, with gloomy weather, but that did not deter us, so collecting totalube on the way, I pulled up at one spot... and NyssaFlutterby pulled up at the other end. Totalube and I headed along and arrived at GZ for this cache with Nyssa saying she'd wander down and meet us along the way somewhere, as she'd done all but two of the caches along here anyway. A bit of a search, with some GPS bounce due to cloud cover, and we found what we were after and managed to extract the logbook along with a number of ants, and replace cache as best as possible.... only to have Nyssa all of a sudden run up to us saying she'd just realised this was one of the caches she hadn't done. Hahahah oooops! Another retrieval of cache and she had also made her mark before we once again returned the cache and headed on our way.
Thanks for the cache grantmatt018.

Did this enjoyable short trail today with Larsben. Beautiful area, nice caches! Thanks for providing us with all this fun!
A lovely walk to GZ. Very quickly I found the cache and the natural tool to help retrieve it. The log book is falling apart but still ok to write on. It was a bit trickier putting the cache back. TFTC! Another favourite from me.
This was a great cache. Lovely walk. Found with Sobington. Harder to put back than retrieve. Log damp.
3/4 on our expedition with Mrs knightsinthecastle. What a cool cache. Proved more difficult to replace than first thought, Fav spot for us! TFTC
This is definitely one of our favourites, just look for out-of-the-ordinary things. The log book is falling apart, though, so someone should probably fix that. TFTC!!!!!!
What a great cache! Our son spotted it, can't believe the perfect natural implement is sitting right there to retrieve it
May i just say this cache is bloody brilliant.
Not using my geo-sense, but relying on gps directions, i spent a few minutes looking in the wrong spot.
Getting frustrated with myself, i threw my phone aside, then spotted something not ordinary.
I wandered over to check it out and inevitably found the cache.
I stood there admiring the inventiveness, is that a word?, of this cache and scratched my head. How the hell do i reach that? I found an implement that was a tad too short so searched for a longer one.
After a minute of poking and prodding i realized what had to be done.
Soon had cache in hand and name added to log.
Some gentle persuasion soon had everything back in place. Definitely a fave point coming at you.

Found the stashed tool after the event - really like the measures someone has gone to on this one. (Luca's first cache with the bubble buddies)
This was the second cache we showed the group as part of a workshop on geocaching at our nearby cadet leaders conference. It was a great example of a unique cache type. Great cache idea, although we had a little trouble getting it back in place (may need to be checked pretty soon!), but with a bit of time we got it all back.
Thanks for the cache today! Very clever
