Logs
Today's plan is to spend some time in the Hastings area seeing what we can find. No worries here. TFTC
It's December, and to help me achieve one of my Geocaching goals I need to log 300+ caches this month, which means an average of ten a day. I started off well, but had a glitch in the middle which has left me behind on my target. However, I left home a couple of days ago and cached my way up through the Wairarapa to Napier (here for a concert tonight). After two very successful days, I started today with only ten caches left to find to meet my goal. Find number 298 for December 2023. --- Thanks to spook456 for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues. The 'small tin' has morphed in to a jam jar.
Watch out for the spines on the dead bougainvillea nearby.

Hi Salem! Not such a secret stash as it was in plain sight, but all was good. We just returned it a little more out of sight. TFTC
Quick find. Cache definitely needs some attention though, very rusted and wet
Over the last 3 days I've been visiting the Hawkes Bay a visit to catch up with a mate recently moved that way, but all good times must come to and end and today was the long drive home to the Horowhenua.
I was last here just over a year ago, and at that time did the Weird n Wacky trail. Today I thought I'd give the bigger power trail a go, and any other caches nearby such as this one.
A nice and easy find at GZ. However, the container is very rusty and by the looks of the lid some people have been having a "fun" time trying to prise it off. I used my large scissors from my caching kit to make it easy. No issues here with the Logsheet, which was soon signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for setting this cache up.

#13,132. Park and grab on Farmlet Road in Karamu. Fortunately, GZ was all quiet at the time of the visit. Quick find. The cache container had been getting a bit too rusty, and the lid was a bit hard to get off. But no problem opening it will a suitable tool from the car. The contents were still dry though. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and .T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e..M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.

Cache container spotted from van, thankfully we had a TOTT that was suitable for opening it. Haven't seen one of these containers for a long time. TFTC

I was spending a .couple of day visiting friends and geo caching around hastings and set out early to locate some of the cache around about here before going on the St george's trail . I actually had a late lunch here under the shady trees .
Thank you for this cache . i took nothing and left nothing.

This was a nice quick find. The cache container isn't in great shape so a refresh wouldn't go amiss.
I have a 3 month sabbatical mostly traveling around the planet. My goal is to find and log 1000 caches. New Zealand is my 4th station traveling from south Christchurch to north Auckland, my first visit here, its far away. This is my sabbatical-cache #865.
making some finds before heading home, thanks for the placement glad the weather stayed nice after over hearing a few people saying it was going to be raining.
thankfully I had a screw driver to open the cache

Popped in to this cache whilst trying to complete the St George’s Trail. TFTC
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Passed in the dark a couple days back but with no obvious hiding place and being pitch black we thought we would return. Here we are couple days later and for a quick find.
Today we took our best shot at completing as much as we're likely to be able to of the Mystery at the Museum Challenge. As we've cached out anything remotely local we knew we'd need to travel quite a bit - not so easy for us, especially in winter. However two trails out the back of Hastings looked to give us the best chance within a reasonably compact area and suitable for a day trip. We had 38 caches on our list, some we didn't attempt, but were pretty satisfied with our 30 finds before wending a weary way home as night fell.
After a rain-filled journey in the morning for most of the way, we were caching along B & P's Weird 'n' Wacky trail by mid-morning and apart from a little drizzle at first the rest of the day then stayed fine for us.
We deviated off the St Georges Trail a little to come up to this cache. When we pulled up here Mrs G immediately knew from past experience where the cache was likely hidden, and it was. We too thought this a peaceful place with some lovely garden and birdsong. TFTC

On a cycle to increase the number of caches towards the 4000 mark. Staying near by. It makes a excellent cycle, especially with the warmth of the sun on our backs.
This was a side track whilst doing St Georges Trail. There was a neighbour sweeping away the never ending fall of the autumn leaves and a Tui singing in the trees. Beautiful spot. TFTC

Have been planning these caches for a few weeks in conjunction with HKCB for a mad dash and effectively a 24 hour run (so that we could spend time with our respective families) for the rest of the ensuing weekend. Signed most/all caches as HKCD or some such other that we could fit in
Leaving Hamilton at 7pm Friday and getting home midnight on Saturday so that at least 6hours quality sleep was acheived, sleeping in the car is always a bonus (2 hours) and the remainder of the time caching around part of the country we hadn't previousley done a whole lot, but have left plenty for the next trip across the hill.
Starting a new day with only a drizzle outside and an early morning bike ride to boot.
This was the fifty first of the100+ that we acheived in that time we were over here.
Thanks to all the CO's for the effort and giving some great caches, sorry about the repetitive logs but then 100 is a few to cover off.
Continuing on around the countryside collecting caches as we go
Thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache
