Dropped in yesterday but it was after school crowded. Found on way out of town today TFTC
Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. The second leg of our journey was a fabulous 9 days in Tasmania. Having then returned to Melbourne we set off on the third leg of our journey, which is to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota (where we are at present), Pambula Beach, Thredbo, Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
After having read previous logs we expected a long search, but my other half found this one immediately! Thanks so much for the cache.

Four pairs of eyes. We could not find. Here for a week so will go back for another try.
What a lovely spot. We left the geovan at the caravan park and headed off to grab some caches. A quick find. TFTC
After seeing a number DNF's on this log I checked cache and still there! It did take me a few visits to find it originally.
It's a DNF for us despite several attempts. It must be a nasty little devil and it would have helped if our GPS and phones would point in one direction instead of waving at every likely place within 10 metres! Muggle cricketers etc. also made it difficult most of the time.
Found it! Not too hard to find! (with a little bit of help from my friends)! Getting the hang of this caper
Found at 2:23 PM GAFF1.
That was another tough cache as there are some obvious locations that you would put a cache in and then there are the not so obvious locations - where he cache is!
There was a cricket match in progress, so lots of muggles around, but most of them had their backs to us.
Thanks Rollmatrix.

Popular area for walkers and mossie but managed to find the cache despite them. Tftc
Exploring the East Gippsland. Now in the Genoa / Mallacotta area.
Saw the gum tree but not the cache. Tft experience.

Couldn't find it, even had two young boys asked what we were looking for they helped but all 5 of us couldn't find it.
Would have been a bit peeved if this one not found as its only 177 metres from the vans door. Four of us and a dog looked for a bit and I glimpsed something different and there it was.. While you're here have a look at the old gum tree fenced off about 80 metres away..
A little detour for getting the gas. But also got a coffee and a cache . Legoman and kangaroo also had a little climb through the trees. Tftc Nico172
We were on our way to Lakes Entrance and a bit further, just started a few ten km, when we realized that we need to get some gas some time soon. So we asked in Genoa and found out that the only station in reach is in Mallacoota, as the one along the highway was out of reach for us. The detour was nice, we had a chance to once again follow the the cache and coffee routine we started a few weeks back in Tasmania. Unfortunately, when finding this nice little cache, we both stepped in dogs poo (cachers nightmare No. 1, at least in Germany - here is may be some poisonous wildlife...) which we smelled in the car. First I stopped shortly outside the village on the way back to the highway, cleaned my shoe and we continued. Then Nico172 realised she had to clean her shoe as well and we stopped again, in a place were some strange birds were producing funny, squeaky sounds. We looked up into the trees to localise the birds and bang! - there were the first three Koalas we ever saw in the wild!
A great series of circumstances (out of gas, detour, cache, cachers nightmare, funny sounds) had led us to this great wildlife encounter - a big thanks to the matrix and the owner for making the cache part of this. TFTC from DerLakaiMS

We chose Mallacoota as a possible overnight stop on our Great Southern Migration MK II. We hadn't been able to secure accomodation online and on arrival we sure found out why; what a popular destination!
After having lunch we chose this cache as the one to grab to ensure filling a required square on the UBD Challenge cache. On approaching GZ we spotted what appeared to be a couple of muggles but closer inspection reveled their antics to be suspiciously like those of a geocacher.
Introductions were made and a joint search was made. In the end the prize went to one of the original searchers. Thanks for the help girls of PiggyPigs and BillyGoats.

Found on our trip to Mallacoota. After having some dinner at the noodle house, we took a short walk over to this cache before heading towards our hotel. Once we got to GZ, it took a little bit of time to find the cache, considering it was getting a little bit dark. Alas, the cache was found within a few minutes. Nice little area in the evening. TFTC Rollmatrix!
Went back for another go at this after katnat2 success. A bit of head scratching and scrambling around and finally the cache was ours. Satisfying find after a frustrating first go.
Nice little garden to take a rest while at the local market on today. Thought we'd be hampered by all the muggles everywhere but grabbed a plastic bag from a nearby market stall holder and picked up all of the rubbish scattered everywhere - perfect cover and cache was soon in hand. Many thanks
Searched a while but DNF. Curious to see if any other holidaymakers can find this one or if it's been muggled
A lovely shady garden on a sunny day. The koala in the tree was grunting at us and trying to give us a clue.
cache check... found not in original spot but placed better....whomever did that thank you very much!!! coord same all good needs staple in log
Day nine of a challenge trip to East Gippsland with BettyBoo3747.
Left Marlo and travelled via Cape Conran to Mallacoota. Filled in several UBD area for BB.
The mower men were busy just the other side of the hedge, but no one on our side.
Interesting sculpture a short distance away. BB thought it might have been there, but the GPSr said no.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 9835. Into the second week of our holiday in Gippsland and today Robmc and I are moving base from Marlo to Mallacoota. Another glorious sunny day accompanies us and more fantastic views.
A quiet little garden in the middle of a lot of potentially busy areas. Rob soon made the find whilst I was checking out the sculpture nearby. I liked it. The log sheets are already hard to deal with as they are not stabled together and go in all directions on opening. We managed to find one with some names on and added ours there too but it will soon end up a mess I think.
Thanks Rollmatrix

Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Rollmatrix for the cache.
We decided to camp down in Mallacoota for the night and clean up as many of the local caches as we could, as we were very impressed by the spectacular view from the foreshore caravan park. Found with spot coords, thanks Rollmatrix for another cache.
SE coast and mountain trip November 2015. After lunch I headed to this one to find a market packing up. The GZ area was quiet and I soon had it signed.
Thanks.
