Essentially the same story as the previous non finder. Flood damage clearly visible and looks like some repair work has been done at the entrance. No sign of cache today.
The flooded river was flowing through the picnic area and it looks like some recent works have happened here at the entrance. GZ was really consistent and I had an idea where the cache 'might' be but its a DNF for me today. I suspect it might be buried or missing.
I got to the pond from the river walk but didn't see a way across. Back to campsite to walk along road. Head banging moment as I got to gz. Grrrrr.
Decided to get out and find all the caches in Riwaka Valley. This one was an easy find, it's also my 600th cache!!! TFTC
A nice quick find thanks.
Found on a showery day around Motueka. We stayed mostly dry, but the coats certainly got a bit wet!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Staying nearby in our motorhome with family from Holland. Did the resurgence this morning, swim at Kaiteriteri now lovely evening walk for a cache. Thanks for this cache DOCMotueka.
Nice spot! Seems the 2nd is a good date to look. Hole in bag has meant the paper has got wet. Lucky it’s water proof paper!
Found with ulmuslynx great day geocaching.
Nice easy find cache all good
Thank you DOCMotueka for the cache

It is hard to believe it has been over three years since we came to look for this cache. On that occasion I remember getting very wet feet as it was in a much wetter position. We left that day with a sad looking blue face added to our map.
When I was looking for where to go today I noticed that blue face and I wondered if I should come and try again, I also noticed that the cache has been replaced twice since we first looked for it. So the decision was made, to come and see what I could find.
As I approached the area it was evident that the locals are still repairing and recovering from the terrible weather event that caused so much damage.
I noticed the chain was across the gate, which with the recent rain, felt like a good idea. I parked nearby and started to look for the cache. It was in the first place I looked, I love it when that happens. The container had some water in it, which I emptied and tried to dry out as well as I could. The log was a bit damp, but with it being write in the rain paper and I use a pen that works well in all conditions, there were no worries with signing the log.
Thank you for placing (and replacing) the cache and thank you for the smiley. I am pleased to be able to turn that wee blue face into a yellow one

Drive with the family to Riwaka and a few caches. First of the day and a quick find. Tftc
That was a quick find, but the logbook was wet and moulding, so we didnt sign it. I can upload a picture to proof our visit, if wanted. Thanks for this cache! Greetings from Germany, GolmarKlonk
Took me a while to find it but then I was lucky. Thanks, DOC, for the cache (so cool!) and especially for the campsite in this lovely spot.
Cache was pretty wet, although the waterproof paper sure is something!

Auch hier bin ich auf meiner Neuseelandrundreise lang gekommen und ich danke allen Owner für Ihre Mühe.
Nine days to do some caching for the price of four leave days - who could complain about that! I found a quirky place to stay near Motueka, ad decided to base myself there to cache in the wider area. I had a few on my hit list, and ended up finding a great variety of different caches on the trip.
Day four - a bit of a recovery day after a long tramp the day before... I think I was overthinking it here!! TFTC!!

Wasn't sure what to expect around this area after the cyclone but cache and general area nearby were fine. tftc
The last cache for today. Not difficult to find but also here the box is wet. But I have nothing with me to dry it. Please have a look! Thanks for the box
Nice and easy here, definitely a park and grab and even room to get the car off the road. A great big R I T R log-book too, they're soooo expensive to buy. Replaced as found after emtying a little water out of the container.

The day after the main event and seems I still haven't had my fill of caches, especially in a relatively cache-rich area. I was up with the birds at first light, pretty much, and out the door nice and early to try and find Marahau Footbridge, Open Seacret and make the most of a low level of water to check out split apple rock and Marahau Marble ECs. Headed back over the hill the slow way, stopping for coffee, Cornish pasties, real fruit Ice cream and a few Multis and Unknown caches where I had already gathered the final co-ordinates. Managed to get another couple of sets of numbers for future Multi- cache targets too.
Back home after a reasonable drive back and another nice round figure of finds, 20 for the day to add to 20 yesterday and 10 on Thursday so a rounded 50 for the 3 days, I like that.
This weekend is a four day weekend for us, Thursday and Friday on leave as we're going away for a couple of nights to Marahau for mrs capperz's birthday, walk the first part of the Abel Tasman walkway and visit out fellow quiz-team cohorts in their new house. The weather all week had been interesting and yesterday brought on torrential rain and storms for many regions, which continued through the night. The forecast was for clearing conditions and a great day for Friday, which fitted in with our walking plans. On Saturday we visited the split apple rock, marble quarry and came back via Riwaka resurgence, Ruby Bay and 'some' caches - of course.

On a week's walking and caching holiday with trifolia argentea we aimed for 100 caches. Thanks to all cache owners.
One of those days when we intended to head off caching but just enjoyed a walk instead. We hadn't been in this area for several years so nice to see how the area has developed. These camping spots are clearly very popular over the summer. TFTC a quick find
After a technical hitch that meant the pocket query for the area had simply given us a duplicate of a previous query.
TregearP had her phone with her, and despite the intermittent coverage we managed to get the cords for this one which we then entered into the GPSr and were away.
A quick find. Dropped a TB which wants to stay in the Nelson/Tasman region - and here is not a bad place to be at this time of year.
Thanks for the cache DOC, and all the others round the country.

On my way back down from the resurgence to pick up a few more caches.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Of course local knowledge didn’t advantage me here as I went ahead and parked in the wrong car park, nonetheless it made for a cool walk through the bush on the track which links the two picnic areas. TFTC DOC
Attempted this one back in July and unfortunately ended up with a DNF. Saw that it had recently been replaced so made the trip to turn a blue into a yellow. Took less than a minute to find this time. tftc
Although we must have spent at least half an hour looking up and down, in and around, the cache did not appear. Will keep a watch to see if it shows up in the future.
Very cold and shady down the valley today, the camping is all closed up for the winter
Came here last year but only found a dead sheep. Today we didn't recognise the spot but now I see the co-ords have moved. Cache was not in a V so we returned it where it was found. Maybe the hint is old ?

During our NZ trip, we stayed on the site nearby for one night - a beautiful place! During a little morning walk, this cache was easily found.

My youngest son had returned from his four day coastal tramp, everyone was too hot and bothered to do anything. So off I went on my final caching spree in this area. What a pleasant road to drive down.
TFTC. Out to explore new areas in our beautiful country.
Thanks for placing the cache.

Today is another Hunt-The-Souvenir day. But instead of heading out to either of the two local earth caches, TaybeeDragon and I are going to Takaka instead. The forecast was rain, so we brought raincoats, so naturally it was an awesome sunny day.
The Dragon hasn't been out to the Riwaka Resurgance, but alas we do not have time for that, just enough to mop up a couple of caches here for me. Surprised to find a better than average DoC hide here - good hide, good container, spot on coordinates - I think someone in DoCMot might be a geocacher!

Its Souvenir Hunt Earth Cache Day- Road trip to Takaka via St Arnaud! Hey What! Lets Go.
Another quick stop and grab for the Seagnoid. Gate closed as its still winter season and wet. Cheers

Out with 4/5ths of the family for a walk and a few caches. Looks like we might need to dodge a few showers and snow flurries. There was a car parked here when we first drove up the valley so we continued to the end and another cache there. The coast and parking spot was clear on the way back for an easy find. Starting to think the other car was also a geocacher as the log was signed today before us.
Thanks DOCMotueka for the cache.

It shouldn't wash away from here one would hope.

We had watched the listing for the cache - and were annoyed with ourselves for not looking for it earlier given the history here. Especially as we had tried to target DOC caches because we do appreciate the effort they made for the geocaching community last year. So when we saw the cache was replaced it was included in a car caching circuit this afternoon. The GPS sent Mrs SoBad around in circles before it settled at a very obvious spot. The cache should be safe there. Happy to be the first to sign the new log.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Cache replaced as major flooding had been through the site. Cache is now higher up and around 50m from original location. Happy hunting.
Coordinates changed from:
S 41° 02.928 E 172° 55.726
Coordinates changed to:
S 41° 02.907 E 172° 55.707
Distance from original: 154.6 feet or 47.1 meters.
The river has taken away the last two caches during floods, so the new cache has been located to a higher site. New co-ordinates are S 41 02.907 E172 55.707

Add me to the dnf list.
One heck of a flood has been through here so I expect that the cache either needs replacing or archiving.

just had a very quick look - but with two DNF's before us and it being very wet underfoot - evidence of the level of the recent flood we decided to move on without giving this too much time, will watch to see if it gets found or replaced then come back anther day
The dead sheep is still there but mostly rotted away and not too pongy. No sign of the cache but there was an indication at the nearby 'hint' as to where it may have been . DOC may need to check this out.
Mmm Dead sheep at GZ giving off a real stink and app rearing to be lying on the cache. Also a lot of flooding after recent rain. Not a place to cache today.
Paddle chick and I had a quick trip to do this cache so we could get back to Not to do the night .Tftc
Log returned and there are now two there as Sidewaze visited the same day I took the log home for a drive and she left a new one there
Found after climbing Baldwin St.. Schmaldwin St., while staying with family in Riwaka for a few days. No log book when I was here, put in a replacement log book. Back up this road for tea, so after reading paddle chick's note, stopped to retrieve my replacement log book. Thanks for the cache.
Stopped on the way home from a trip up the Cobb Valley. Went back to the car to get a trackable to leave in the cache. It wasn't until I got home that I realised that the log was still sitting on the passenger seat. Really sorry, I will get back over in the next couple of days to replace it. Thanks for placing the cache

Three caches today and all DOC caches that I have been saving. I think this is the third cache I have found in this reserve. - - - I wonder if the others were washed away by floods . TFTC .
Picking up a few of the caches we haven't found after a break from caching and took a nice drive out here to continue with today's theme of DOC caches . A quick find and sign with only a couple of other cars in the reserve. TFTC
I had been saving this cache for a picnic one day over the summer but it came into contention after a string of 3 DNFs not too far away. Very relieved to finally find a cache and always enjoyable coming up this valley. TFTC #7734
Another evening caching with my boss after work - thought him mad for wanting to do caches in the storm but hey sometimes its good to do something out of the norm !!! a quick find thankfully thanks DOC Motueka for the cache
The storm is holding off for now but its going to pour down soon so this was a quick find .Cheers
First of our DOC finds - great spot and thanks DOC, stickers in the cache much appreciated.
After a great day over in Golden Bay I had time for a couple more caches on my way home. No problems here. Coordinates pretty good and the cache was quickly found. TFTC, Biggles.
We had morning tea in the reserve, overlooking the Riwaka River and then found the cache. We also walked around the reserve. Thanks DOC and no doubt many volunteers for undertaking a regeneration project in the reserve, removing many of the large willow trees and planting hundreds of native trees. Well done!
Nice spot here.
A DOC ute (with trailer) loaded with fire wood (perk?) leaving with a smile.
Thanks DOCMot

#10172. Troodles and I were in the area today (had a rellie visiting who we wanted to take to the Riwaka Resurgence). The cache was a quick find in a deserted picnic area. TFTC.
The Riwaka Resurgence is one of the sights we like to show visitors to the area, and as this cache just happened to be en route, we stopped to have a look for it. A nice place to visit, but no picnickers today. Cache was a quick find in the obvious location. Nice to come back here on such a lovely day. TFTC.
This find is our 10th of the DOC placed caches, (Motueka,Picton, Greymouth) an initiative much appreciated. We were able to find this one and sign it without any problem with muggles or passing traffic although the picnic area at the Resurgence carpark was busy. Thank you DOCMotueka for placing this cache.
We never shy away from an excuse to visit the Resurgence so were happy to oblige when a new cache was published. There was nobody having a picnic today but a reasonable amount of traffic to and fro the main attraction of the valley. Our #10 DOC find. Thank you DOCMotueka
Our second FTF for the day, a lovely spot on a sunny day, some people were camping enjoying the tranquillity of the native bush and Riwaka river ,my uncle Fred was a generous man who gifted this land, nice going back again . TFTC.
