I nearly was not going to travel in this direction today, but am I ever glad I made the effort to go off plans for this adventure.Absolutely beautiful to experience these natural hot springs. Luckily, I think there were not many here today because of the festival in nearby Ravenshoe. How blessed to be almost alone here today. I will definitely be back!Internet is playing up a bit at the moment ... darned "upgrade of services". Answers will be sent over the next couple of days.TFTC ...
We continued today our tour of several AUS states in the NorthWest and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Earth-Cache.The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The answers were sent. Thanks to Moneybox for the generation of this nice cache Cooking Hot (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. Tftc. Drizzly morning. Paddled on edges. Several people soaking or broiling.tftc
Great couple of days to spend chilling in the creek, beside the creek or in the camp ground hot pools!
Lovely spot. Very hot water. Couldnt sit in it for long. Glad I visited and soaked a while.
A trip out on country today. Ad we travelled past we decided to stop here and check it out. What an unusual location for hot springs
TBU came up for QOGM No. 5 in Longreach. Before, during and after QOGM 2023 we met fellow cachers, enjoyed talks, meetings, eating, drinking, having fun and of course caching. Then we headed on to Mount Isa where we stopped at this earth cache. Answers with photo were sent to CO on 25.9.23 and ok received.I love warm water for a swim! Tftc Moneybox
Answers sent on our joint behalf by bunadoorian. What a great spot- I had read about the thermal springs - but to experience them was another matter. How hot it was on my one foot that I had taken the shoe and sock off to "Test" the water. A favourite point from me! TFTC and for bringing us here Moneybox.
What a lovely diversion from our drive through the area. Grub62 got to play in the water and on the hot sand. Some very interesting facts were read especially after coming from the Undara lava tubes. Thanks for bringing us here and what about a favorite point for the experience. TFTC.
Heading to Cape York with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 & Team Crackers, after the QOGM in Longreach.Lovely area, and thank you for bringing this to our attention, Moneybox.Didn't cook or swim today. Favourite point given.
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa Looping back to Malanda for a vet visit and stopped in here on the way. Wow, a lovely spot. Answers sent to CO, have a FP from me. Tftc
Ocw the Bebes. Enjoyed the stop here and feeling how hot this water actually is. Great location to visit. Answers sent by the Bebes. Tftec
We spent the night here on our return from Cape York. After a day in Atherton on Jen's wonderful Waterfall Tour we finished the day relaxing in the poolside spas and pools. What a trip. It wasn't until others had gone to bed that two of us wandered down to the source. The steam was amazing and spooky. We saw someone was boiling some eggs in one of the pools. A phot was taken, but nighttime does not do it justice, What an amazing place.

Departed Melbourne the other day and travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel. Leaving Undara Experience Park this morning for the last part of the first stage of the trip to Cairns, a few days before the misses flys in Then the next stage of the trip begins, Cape York! But first, a few days in Cairns looking around and geocaching
Hmm, looks nice, will need to bring the misses back here sometime soon...

Konie and I stopped by this earthcache on our way through town. I had never visited hot springs before and for some odd reason associated them with a cooler climate. I was pleasantly surprised to find hot springs in this area. I found this earthcache very interesting. My cahing buddy has sent answers on behalf of us both. Thanks for bringing me here. FP from me. We camped at the campground so had a couple of swims in there pools. Visited the creek and we were surprised how shallow it was. Only one family were soaking in the pools.

There were lots of people in the water here today. Steam could be seen rising. I went and changed and joined them, laying back, although it's very shallow. This was fun, and have a favourite point for bringing me here. TFTC Moneybox.

Aquilus1 & I are on a mission to visit every LGA in Australia and on this short & sweet 5 day mission we went from Cairns to the Northern Territory and back again. 3400km's, 1 flat tyre, 600-700 kangaroo's seen, 1 hit, and all the other fauna & flora.
What a nuts adventure!
Day 1: Arrive in Cairns at before noon, grab the car and immediately off to Guyala for the first LGA of the day. During the day we saw massive trees, and old virtual and some earthcaches.....and at least 200km of dirt road without seeing anything at all except for one car. Limped into Hughenden from The Lynd about 9:15pm. Had to spend 15 minutes killing mozzies in the room before I was willing to go to bed.
Day 2: Leave Hughenden after admiring the windmill & the dinosaur for a day of largely earthcaches.....and long dirt roads that were marked '4WD only'. Our mightly little pretend SUV ate them for breakfast. Had a mad scramble for accommodation at the end of the day in Cloncurry.....eventually getting a cabin at the 'Road Runner'..... which clearly has a poor reputation based on the looks we got when mentioning it. Local event was great and met TeamPops for the first time.
Day 3: Left The Curry on the way to The Isa.....detoured south a bit before returning and doing some cool gadget caches by drrnrchr...some real talent there! Then off to the NT of course, as you do! From there it was a slog to Burketown...."up the dirt" which was a very poor road. Got the flat right near the end of the worst stretch so then limped in at 50-60km/h for the next 3 hours. I have never seen so many roo's in all my life and I live in Canberra which has a serious roo problem.....it was crazy. We arrived just near closing of the pub & takeaway and the town was in party mode....then 15 minutes later was completely silent.
Day 4: At sparrows got the car to the awesome guys at Nowland to fix the puncture. This was the day for visiting the aboriginal LGA's, we checked in for our 30 minute Mornington Island flights at the Shire Council, first time I have ever done that! Doomadgee was visited as well, the road there being excellent with an exciting river crossing for fun......and we discovered it was actually Mabo Day so we were very lucky to visit on that day, the towns were fascinating, the Rosie's chicken at the Doomadgee roadhouse delicious. Heading east along the Savannah way, we saw a croc & a canberra cacher....of all the things!
Day 5: Another long day from Croydon to Mareeba, with my first Queensland FTF as well on an amazing earthcache at Einasleigh....more swful roads but thankfully these were the very last! As always an interesting hunt for accommodation, but it all worked out.
Day 6: This was a relaxed day just cleaning up the few surrounding Cairns LGA's and cruising into the airport...where they tried to charge me $500 for having a puncture that was now repaired...jeez guys, c'mon! Sorted out quickly but I was set to 'ramming speed' for a few moments.
What a nuts adventure!

Super interesting location that took the EC questions to investigate to notice what was here. Love the holes scooped out for people to lay in. A few enjoying the water watched us dip our hands in and invited over to feel the sand and show the bubbles coming up from the discharge point. Very interesting!
With GreyHams we set out on an epic 5 day caching trip from Cairns, to the Northern Territory and back again. 3400km via Burketown with the occasional detour off into different directions as was needed! Looong straight roads, many on dirt or rock and rough but luckily only the 1 flat tyre. Camels, a crocodile, wildlife in abundance of numbers and types and a crazy number of kangaroos after dark it was a little scary! Such a great trip through all the LGA's and we saw so much!
Day 1: We arrived in Cairns after midday to pick up the car with several hours of driving ahead of us to get to Hughenden. With road reports having just changed to open after recent rains it was a little unknown what was ahead of us. 'Drive to conditions and 4WD'... down the Lind in the dark and not a car to be seen for hours... we found out why! Some old caches, virtuals and earth caches to stop at, it was a good start into a few areas otherwise easy to drive by and miss their little discoveries.
Day 2: With reports of snow falling back home in Canberra we woke to a pleasant sunny day of blue sky and warmth. Hughendens windmills and dinosaur visited and then off into the unknown of more dirt roads of 'drive to conditions and 4WD' and a fascinating day of Earthcaches through the region. Cloncurry was our stop overnight and despite its many accommodation options it was a long search before the 'have you tried the road runner?' It proved better than expectations and as usual things just worked out. The Leichharde for dinner was a good snitty hotel, an event at the central was great to meet some local cachers and proved to be the steak place as we saw!
Day 3: The most epic of all days of the trip in the distance and events. Leaving The Curry it was up to The Isa, some local caching, local cachers and then south for a bit before returning through The Isa and off to the Northern Territory. Camooweal to Burke 'up the dirt' rough, rocky, lots of creek crossing, AKA 'dips' and a bit of water in places. A flat trye slowed things dramatically, after the crazy number of little kangaroos and 3 hours to travel 160km we limped into a thriving Burketown relieved to have made it with only 1 roo casualty. The hotel was a busy and friendly place, dinner at the closing TA and then the hotel closed and silence...
Day 4: Started off at the great guys at Nowlands who had the tyre repaired quickly. Checked in for our flight to Mornington and then off to the Burketown bore and wetlands while we wait, cool spot! Doomadgee missed the day before, we squeezed it in today which was worth the drive, the roos of the night made way for so many wedgies on the road and stopped overnight in Croydon at a great Queenslander hotel with the best meals and the best sauces to go with them. Yummy, caching fuel!
Day 5: Croydon to Mareeba, with a FTF opportunity at Einasleigh Gorge, great geology and a lovely discovery, lunch at the hotel and then off down some more dirt roads, creeks, water and corrugations, the road crews keep busy out these ways and we were pleased to meet some along the way! A little scramble for accommodation but Mareeba pushed us a little further and was well placed.
Day 6: A casual morning collecting a few local LGA's around the Cairns area before returning the tough and mighty little hire car and the flights down south to winter... aargh! Sunny Queensland, you will be missed!
Such a great trip, long days, long roads, landscapes and wildlife of such variety and abundance. Great caches, people and memories. Thanks for your cache that guided us through this area!

What a beautiful spot. It is certainly greener and better maintained than I remember it from years ago. We had a very enjoyable relax here before moving on to Cumberland Chimney for the night. Thanks for drawing this incredible spot to my attention again Moneybox. Answers being sent.
Wow the water is boiling hot at the creek, there not a to stronger smell of sulphur in the water as we where expecting.. Thanks for bringing us here, we enjoyed the experience.. Answers' and photos sent to C.O.
We visited the hot springs on our way back to the Archer Creek Rest area after visiting the dredge geocache. The area was looking beautiful with lots of mowed green grass and river flowing strongly following the recent flooding rains.

What a fun and spectacular location.
We are staying around Atherton for a few days and made this our first trip to explore the area.
After recent rains, the creek is running at full speed and the water is quite cold.
This said, we donned our swimming cossies, dug down into some of the rocky sand and soon had warm water swirling around us. We were able to sit there for quite awhile and just enjoy this in the newly found sunshine! So nice to have some good weather again.

We thought that we had finished our logging only to find a couple of hundred that we have missed. Sorry. It took us a little while to realise where the water was coming from. The flow was only just. There wasn't much water in the creek at all but it was surprisingly hot even a small distance away. The cache was found with no troubles. Thank you for placing this cache for us to find.
Apologies for the late log. We didn't realise that we hadn't completed the logging from a previous trip. We were pleased that we were able to experience the hot springs even though there wasn't much of a flow. It wasn't obvious where the water was coming from but we soon found it. Very non. Thank you for placing the cache and bringing us here.
Required information sent to CO for consideration. Free access to actual creekbed and geocache locations. $10 per person to enter adjoining thermal pools.
Day 16 of our adventure to Townsville Mega. Stayed overnight nearby, forgot to bring our swimmers. Could only put our feet and hands in the water. People in the water were really enjoying their soaking. Wazza9 will send the answers to the CO. Thanking for bring us here Moneybox.
TFTC,
We are going to the 2022 Townsville MEGA and have taken the long way there. Day16 and we are getting close to the Northeast corner of our triangular trip.

Thankyou for a nice easy spot to start with. It was good to get out the house and go for a swim. (We only live 10 mins away).
For living in the north for as long as I have, I have not utilized this place anywhere near enough. Beautiful creek and the caravan park/pub staff were very welcoming. Here with JustNickingOff.

Staying at the Innot Hot Springs Caravan Park. Loving the pools here and the creek
We travelled up from Cairns for a day trip with our geocaching friends Walter and Ingrid.
There were plenty of 'swimmers' laying back enjoying the warm, heated water closer to the spring.
Thanks for this Earthcache Moneybox. A fun stop on our Tablelands drive.

We are travelling from Tolga near Atherton to Charters Towers and Innot Hot Springs was a definite must for us to stop and have a look at. We arrived before 9am, and there were already a number of people laying in the creek and enjoying the natural warm springs. The water was fairly shallow, but we had a bit of a paddle and wandered up and down the creek having a look at the surrounds.
Thanks for setting up this earth cache and prompting us to stop here in our journey south, a lovely little spot, and an earth cache with a bit of difference.

We loved this place! The water was AMAZING! Soaked here at 6 in the morning and it was bliss! Thank you for the earthcache
Visited Innot Hot Springs during a trip from Adelaide to the northern tip of Australia on Cape York Peninsula, traveling along the Strzelecki Track to Innamincka, then to Noccundra, Quilpie, Blackall, Barcaldine, Hughendon and Ravenshoe to Cairns and Cooktown, out to Weipa and up to Bamaga and Seisia. Enjoyed the stop at this interesting location to gather the information and test the waters. Thanks for the earthcache Moneybox!
wow we stopped for a little while as this was an unepected find on the trip. so nice and warm to just sit and relay in. thankyou for brininging us here.
Love this location and there are plenty of other travellers who feel the same way. We enjoyed collecting the info. Thanks for arranging Moneybox and fav point alloc. By the way a new hot spring establishment has just been opened at Tallaroo near Eiensleigh we are heading there tomorrow to spend the night.
# 2362 - Travelling from Brissie to probably Cooktown and back we try to pick up a few caches.
This stop was on my to do list and I wasn't disappointed. The water was HOT though. Been to thermal springs in Lightning Ridge, but they were just very warm. There was a man standing in one of the hot pools and later came back to sit in it! I don't know how he did that. I couldn't.
Anyway, I have sent in my answers and hope for the best. Interesting to read how nature works its wonders.

Found it. This was a interesting spot to stop for morning tea on our travels. The temperature of the creek was amazing. Very have never experienced the thermal springs that hot before. Be careful with little geokids.
Ooh, a Moneybox EC. These are awesome!!
We read the signs and slowly walked in and out the creek doing temperature checks. Didn’t have a whole chook to cook with me today.

Who knew there’s geothermal pools in Qld? We do - now! Travelling from cairns into the outback and made a stop here to check it out. Just a couple of days earlier a girl had badly burnt her foot for not following the warning to keep your shoes on. That sand can get deceivingly hot!!! The water is just beneath the surface so you sink into it. The lady at the caravan park reception didn’t seem to appreciate anyone having public access to the creek. Too bad!! From previous blogs I’ve read, the reason there’s little water in the creek is because they siphon it for their private (guest) baths. I can’t vouch for how true that is, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a pump hidden under that big pile of rocks at the Source. Enough cynicism - I think the heat has gotten to me. This is still a beautiful spot and part of history here. Thanks for highlighting it with this cache, we may not have known otherwise.
Too hot for a swim but some were enjoying the water answers sent thanks for bringing us here
Thank you very much for showing us this point were we spent nearly the whole afternoon bathing in this hot water.

On a cool morning this was an alluring place to stop. We started at the bridge and worked our way along. There were some places where we knew what the missionaries in the natives cooking pot must have felt like. A very enjoyable earthcache, thanks Moneybox.

Hot! Hot! Hot!
Snuggle muggle and I learned something today...feet are WAY more sensitive and susceptible to heat than fingers are!
What an interesting place. I had never been to a hot springs before and feeling the hot water in the creek was really cool (forgive the pun). haha
My second ever earth cache and an interesting lesson in thermal geology and geography. TFTC

The mini rats have been away on holidays with the Rats on another fantastic family holiday. We made it all the way to Cape York and along the way we found this cache. Thanks for adding to the thrill of our holiday.

The Rats and mini rats have just returned from an amazing 6-week adventure to Cape York. Along the way we had time to stop and grab a big handful of caches, some of our finds were in the remotest parts of Australia. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing your cache, you've all contributed to us having a great holiday. Apologises for the generic log.
An interesting location. Having been to other hot springs this realy surprised us at the heat generated

Mid afternoon and I rolled into Innot Hot Springs for a looky see
Hmmm !!
That caravan park looks like a good 'un to pitch the tent in
That's a rare conclusion these days
But before headed for camp for the night,
I headed for the creek to find some answers for this Earthcache
It didn't take long to discover the hot and cold bits.
The hot bits had a light mist rising off them,
even in the days mid twenties temps [:o]
I found a spot where the water was bubbling to the surface and stuck in the test probe.
Ouch !! That's hot !!
But not too far away I found a comfy spot to stick me finger which didn't burn [:o)]
Answers found,
I headed for the campground and a soak in the 'Goldilocks Pool'.
Ahhhh !! Just right

After spending the night at the nearby Archer Creek Campsite, we knew that a free hot bath was waiting for us. Since it was still relatively early, we were almost alone here to enjoy the bath. We brought bowls for digging and made us a nice tub, with hot and cold water supply. As a little extra we chatted with Barb and Trevor, who invited us to their grape farm in SA. A lovely morning!

I went to the hot springs and checked out the water. Ouch. I gathered the details and submitted my answers. Hope they are all OK.
Stopped here quickly after visiting a friend in mt garnet. Just dipped out feet. Was surprised how warm the springs are. TFTC
While travelling from A to B we are grabbing a few caches along the way, this cache was one of them
Arrived at GZ expecting to have a lovely early morning soak but not much water and only a few manageable big holes.
Walking across the river sand nearly did my knees in and gee that sand can get hot too.

Stopped for lunch driving from Charters Towers to Chillagoe. Collected informationbetween showers and touched a few hot spots in the process. Driven past for work a lot over the years but had own car and time to stop today. Another interesting earth cache thanks Moneybox. Answers sent.
Great to have a hot bath on an otherwise cool and rainy day. We massively enjoyed this experience. Thanks for leading us to this great spot!
On a trip to North Qld from down south. Austrees likes hot springs, so this was on the agendum. Stayed overnight at the caravan park. Got some good photos of the early morning mist. I know heat rises, but I wasntrigued by the fact it was the top inch of water that was "boiling", and the cold water from upstream was flowing underneath.
Also, there was the largest dragon fruit plant in the trees to the west of the hot springs, that I have ever seen

While travelling around the country on an AdVANture, we came upon Innot Hot Springs, and having previously enjoyed the Artesian pool at Lightening Ridge decided to stay at the caravan park here so as to enjoy the pools here too. We noted a number of locals digging themselves baths in the creek near the discharge point in the early evening, so the next morning we wandered down to investigate, finding them still steaming and piping hot. What an amazing natural wonder this is. Thanks for the Earthcache here Moneybox, it was great to learn a little more about the geology and local history of the area.
During our great roadtrip through Australia we went from Mt. Surprise to Cairns today, crossing the amazing tablelands and finding some great caches. This was one of them.
Having a thermometer with us we measured the water temperature at the "closest comfortable point" at 42.5°C. Fun fact: We measured the temperature of the surface of the dry sandy shore at 43 to 43.5°C - and weren't able to keep our bare feet on it! So the limit of temperature our bodies tolerate is very well defined - right where our proteins would loose their functionality (which would be deadly to us).

What an relaxing area. After an 3 h drive, digging a samll hole in the creek and resting for a while was well deserved. We even boild some eggs close to the spring. After 45min they were like 6min eggs
