Braved the spidey web forest to grab this cleaver hide with both geokids. A wonderful time camping at the beautiful Cathedral range. Tftc!
I was camping nearby at Kendalls campground and had an early departure today. The fog was thick and I didnt have time for the trail today, so just the first stop was on the list.A great hide here which didnt take too long to spot. With a favourite point for the effort that had gone into this one.A big thanks goes to -Mountain Goat- for taking the time to add Cathedral Goat Track #1 to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Are you ready for Victorias next big event?Join us for Victorias first ever *Block Party* to celebrate 25 years of geocaching.**When:** March 22 - 23, 2025**Where:** Hume Global Learning Centre, SunburyLog your will attend at [**GCAP417: The Sunbury Event** ](https://coord.info/GCAP417) Visit our [**Block Party website** ](https://geocachingvictoria.com.au/the-sunbury-event) for more details on the exciting lineup of events and activities as they are released!
Pretty much the only cache I managed to actually find (alongside a few DNFs) on this fabulous day of hiking, taking in Cathedral Peak, Little Cathedral Peak, Cathedral North Peak and Ned's Peak. I do love this range! Tough but very satisfying walking and such wonderful views.A nice straightforward find here. TFTC

Beautiful location, cache in good condition and logbook was dry, cant say as much for the walk in
Nice to be the one to find this after it hadn't been found in 2 years and still in good condition tftc with riotgirlckb
What an adventure. What a glorious part of the country. What a wonderful man to do all this with. Dalerious and I had planned this trip to do these caches a little while back. He had these and the Goats way down ones on his bucket list for a while now and we got the chance to sign our names in this awesome set of trads. It was a beautiful walk, in not so bad weather conditions. The only disappointment was the 2 dnf's, one definitely missing, the other we are quite sure it is gone, but we do like to be proven wrong. We had a look at the Goats Way Down, but by that time of the day, we were too spent and only gave one a half hearted attempt. I was just too knackered to keep bush bashing for these ones. We will be back for them another time.
Nice easy find on the way back to the car. A lovely green mossy part of the forest. Cool and tranquil with the sounds of the nearby water.
Doing a few quick caches in my backyard after work. This was a good one, very creative.
We were camping at the Cathedral Ranges for the long weekend. After setting up camp, the family sat around the fire pit whilst I headed off for a bit of a walk. I decided it was time to look for a cache as well, so I made the detour here. I spent ages wandering around and second guessing myself. It was only once I took a step back that I realised the coordinates were spot on. The retrieval was a bit tough but rewarded with a nice sized cache. Cannot wait to try the rest of this series when I have more time. TFTC -Mountain Goat
After a couple of days glamping with friends at a nearby caravan park and caching around Alexandra, we packed up and headed our separate ways Sunday morning.
Before heading home, I just wanted to check out the letterbox cache up Little River Road then maybe see how much further I could go up this road that I have never traversed before.
The road was closed from Neds Gully Campground so if I wanted to see any kind of view, I would have to hoof it. I didnt have time to get to the top but I had a bit of a "stroll around" and will definately be coming back with more time up my sleeve.
The track at the bottom was very sloppy but firmed up quickly on route to this nicely secluded cache which remains clean and dry despite the recent downpour. [8)]
TFTC -Mountain Goat-, and thanks for the good hint.
I did get to find just one more cache before heading off home. ......

Very good cache and clue. I did make the next but no further. Thanks Mountain Goat.
Our time in Taggerty is coming to a close and since I had a free afternoon, I decided to come out and grab a few more caches before we left the area. I'd been eyeing off the Goat Track series ever since we arrived and today was the day! I had to park at Cooks Mill and walk from there as the bridge at Ned's Gully is closed at the moment but that just added on some more lovely scenery.
A great cache, in good condition and a challenge to find. Very enjoyable, thanks.

Time for another adventure. It's been some time since I did any significant walking in the Cathedral Ranges and it was time to change that. DAB and I took off for two days of hiking and need way more time to be able to do it all. We set off with all the things we needed to make ourselves comfortable hiking and camping.
After a big day yesterday, we relaxed at our camp, packed up early after a great cooked breakfast to take off for the morning doing another hike. This one had us wondering at first where could it be. After searching for a little while at just the right angle I saw how this one was hidden and we were able to reveal the prize.
**Thanks to -Mountain Goat- for placing this cache for us to find and enjoy**

Day 2 of our Cathedral Ranges adventure and Na'wal and myself started our adventures early. We had to leave around midday to avoid the traffic, so it was an early start. Another sunny day, which had us wearing the appropriate gear for protection.
A lovely stroll here and the searching began. This one had us going for a while, until the clever hide revealed itself. TFTC -Mountain Goat-

Out with Trailstevo on a last minute unplanned trip to the cathedral ranges, probably should have red up on the area and types of cache. Anyway off we trott in the dark up the hill for a couple of finds and a couple of DNF'S. Not a great adventure for stats but still a good adventure. Thanks for the fun.
Night caching with Gunks. City or country was the question. Country was preferred but when the hills happened there was a tinge of regret. Big climb to look for these goat track ones 50% success rate. This one we found. TFTC
Found during a walk from Cooks Mill camp-site as a part of recon on our first day in the Cathedral Ranges. Cache found with no data, internet, just from memory of where the caches were relative to walking trails. So lucky to find this one. It reminds you why it's worth getting out of city!
Just before the end of my northern cathedral circuit I thought I might as well find this one. It was reasonably easily found, well hidden. Thanks for the cache.
For a change... quick and easy find... in a nice spot.
Found with Galandboyz today almost completed our overnight circuit walk.

Find # 630
7th cache for the day as we hike the Nth Circuit today.
This was prooving a tad trickier than it should've but as I broadened my search, I turned back and a logical spot presented itself.
Visited some TB's. TFTC

First find in the goat track series. GPS was being a bit jumpy but use of the hint allowed me to make a quick find of the well made container. Took the TB. TFTC
Out and about with Biggles Bear in the Cathedral Ranges today, but almost as many DNFs as Finds. Found after a couple of minutes searching. Today it was a lovely peaceful and lushious green area - very nice after some of the rugged, dry areas we have been to today.
Thanks for the cache, -Mountain Goat-.

Starting the goat track and we thought we would DNF. But another look at the hint, a view from a different angle and voila, tTFTC. Dropped off bug
So I was here for an epic fail over a year ago, and with another cRange fail under my belt today I thought it was time to return to this spot and at least turn this frown upside down. Lol, I just noticed that the GC code for this cache contains EZY. If only. Okay so in hindsight it probably should have been 'ezy' but again I made it difficult, way more difficult than it needed to be However, I did eventually find the cache, had one of those 'doh' moments, quickly signed the log and proceeded in the wrong direction back to the car. Seriously. I don't know why this place gets the better of me every time I visit! My nemesis. I will return another day to take care of #2 in this series – another frown on my map Thanks for the cache!

Out and about today on a mission with The Welder for a FTF and also to make some unloved caches loved again. Quite a cool day, with lots of low lying cloud / fog.
After finishing off our main caches for the day, we had a late lunch and decided to use the remaining light to do what we could in the Cathedrals. This one took the least time of the 3 we attempted, but was still a bit on the tricky side. eventually something a bit out of the ordinary was spotted and an icy cold cache was soon in hand.
Many thanks to -Mountain Goat- for the cache. TNLN.

This was first on our long haul to the top on today's bushwalk. The coordinates were pretty good and Alsume made reasonably short work of it at 10:55 so we were soon on our way.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks -Mountain Goat-.

No internet made this one interesting to find. Being short doesn't help. Well hidden. Thanks!!
Found as part of our adventure up this track. Theatralis spotted it first and was on to it, but had trouble in the retrieval. After a bit of help I had the thing free and our names were in the log book.

Did one with JRA. First find and the only one for today as we were runnig out of daylight. Awesome place will be back! Tftc!
Pretty easy find, I think that's my last here today, I have some unfinished business here so I'll be back.
A beautiful place, thanks to all the hiders for their efforts.

Have had an amazing couple of days hiking in the Cathedrals with Jaminappleford. Excellent scenery has made up for the many thorns and cuts I've acquired. Every track covered was unique and challenging. I particularly enjoyed the climb to Well's Cave. Thanks to all those Cachers who put in the hard yards to place challenging caches in this great location.
So for our first summer caravan adventure Emma and I thought we'd spend a few days in Taggerty which was close enough to explore the Cathedral Ranges, something I've wanted to do for ages.
We decided to tackle the northern end today and arrived at a relaxing time of 9.30am to get started. After a lot of fun we arrived back at the car at 7pm, a bit weary but with a feeling of accomplishment. I've added some personal notes below for each cache we tackled today.
This was the first of day. Took a bit of wandering but eventually spotted the hide!

Although the owner already coped some verbal abuse for placing micros in the bush (!) , this is not a micro. It's a small cache The hikers in front of me looked a bit puzzled when I scooped straight off-track. Oh well.

A great way to start our day. Minions and I were set for a fun day of adventure and this was a crafty hide the lulled us into a false sense of security before we embarked on the dangers that lay ahead. A must do trail is the Goat Track.
You know those days where, in hindsight, you realise you probably shouldn't have bothered to get out of bed? Well, today was one of those days. Upon notification of a couple of potential FTFs a few clicks down the road we were off on the hunt. Mind you, I had serious doubts about successfully securing the aforementioned FTFs, but there were still caches we could find on the way. Ha! That was wishful thinking. We had lost our caching mojo, and it's not like I wasn't wearing my caching pants either. Everything was hard. Even stuff that should have been easy! And to make matters worse, I was totally stuffed, and here's these kids bounding past like they were chasing each other down the street rather than up a steep bush track!
So here we come to the first hide for the day … and the first DNF. After walking around in circles following my GPSr for a little while I stood back and tried to take in the area around GZ. "It shouldn't be this hard", I said. "The hard one is meant to be next." With the cache still eluding us we decided to move on to the next DNF (oh sorry, did I say DNF? I meant cache) and have another look on the return journey. Needless to say, by the time I was on the return journey I pondered having another look before deciding to just leave it for another day.

Found it! The Walkabouters were in Marysville for a long weekend of walking. Today walked along the Little River and Messmate trails from Ned's Gully to Sugarloaf Saddle and back. I found this one before heading back to the car at the end of our walk. Took a little while to locate the cache as I was confused with a hint for the other nearby cache. Once corrected it was a quick find. GZ was spot on. Great location. I hope to find the rest of the series one before my knees give up! TFTC SL
The bananas love this area.
And for once the start is simple with a great treasure.
Some go to great efforts to put out their treasure.
As an area worth exploring this is a great addition to the area.
Thanks -Mountain Goat-
