Had the same experience as SJT NZ put in new cords but no joy. All there seemed to be was sand and more sand. Thank you for taking me on this beautiful walk. I will be back as it's such a beautiful place

Visited here today without luck. The updated coordinates took us some 30m away from the DOC sign prohibiting dogs - which was nearly buried. At the posted coordinates there was a small chunk of driftwood pumpkin sized but nothing else within 10m.

Looked under all the near logs and dug out the DOC sign and about 20cm under the bottom of the sign.

We suspected the two recent storms may have shifted and dislodged the cache.

15-Jan-18
At the coordinates we found a large stick fort structure which we dug under but couldn't find anything. Oh well at least it was a nice walk.

03-Nov-17

Walked all the way out on the sandspit, saw lots and lots of birds and even a couple of penguins. Wonderful day, met a nice couple out cayaking and I really enjoyed this place. I think this is the most beautiful spot I've logged a traditional cache, thanks for showing me this!

Having a wee raid on Mot, as you do.
Time for another walk on the sandspit and a quick find.
No birds seen but plenty of debris on the beach after the two recent storms.

An evening walk along the almost deserted sand spit to the sign, then it took us almost as long to find the cache. We started at our GZ then widened our search outwards until we eventually found it, opened it up, dried it, signed log book, then re-hid it with lots of stones on top to stop it wandering off again.

29-Oct-16
Kayaked across to this wonderful spot on Saturday with my geosister. Welcome to these tiny birds that fly from the northern hemisphere for our summer, then all the way back to have their chicks. There were quite a number on the sand spit today. Thanks for the cache.

29-Oct-16
Good find after a kayak from home across the estuary with Geosis Tillylamp. Lots of godwits and a few yachts racing on the estuary including the other half of Tillerpilots.

What a stunning day for a walk along the spit with the sun shining, no wind and the snow capped mountains in the distance. Absolute magic! TFTC #8572

Arrived at site to find container open, lid off, contents still secure inside but clearly muggled....dumb arses! We signed, put it all back together and gathered stones to put on top. Crossed fingers and headed off...tftc

It was a very hot day on the spit today but we found the cache no problem. TFTC.

We were both short of time and reluctant to walk far given the wind on the day we found the cache at the start. Happy to return today to do the walk as a team. The wind was not really noticeable as we walked to the cache but we were aware of both it and the tide coming in as we returned. We saw lots of gotdwits in the area but they stopped resting when they saw us approach. A few other people also out for the walk but not nearby when we found the cache.
Thanks. The extra caches from DOC are appreciated and we have a couple still to find. from DOCMotueka.

This cache contributes to the Rambler's Reward Challenge cache.

We had a fantastic walk along the sandspit today, it's a great place for a walk. As I signed the log I was surprised to hear voices but then noticed that the kayakers who had been paddling on the landward side of the spit were transferring to the seaward side. I hope they were too busy carrying their kayaks to take any notice of what I was up to. Signed the log and then ventured a little further. There were hundreds of godwits, many with young chicks - - - and a few other birds. Thanks for the encouragement to venture along here. We agreed that we really should do it more often.

27-Dec-15
Out for a walk with the whole family. This was definitely far enough and we had Ellie so couldn't go any further anyway. She loved the walk to here. Time to go visit the Happy Chippie now for lunch. Smile
Thanks DOCMotueka for the cache.

Found on our morning walk on the Motueka Sandspit, a walk in an area which is never ever boring, provided you take the time to appreciate it. It was low tide but didn't see any "Godwits Resting" unfortunately. The name of the cache fits the location perfectly. This was the last cache we needed to find to complete the DOCMotueka series in the National Geocaching Challenge. Thanks DOC Motueka and your supporters Air New Zealand and Macpac for the cache.

26-Oct-15
No people, dogs or birds out in the howling wind this afternoon.
Had to hang on tight to the cache while signing the log.
Thanks DOCMot

A beautiful day on the spit and a delight to see a tall man made flagpole flying the All Blacks flag on the day they qualified for the final test for the World Cup. The walk was very nice. Something we never would have done if not for Geocaching. Thank you DOCMotueka

It was the perfect day for a wander along here to find this cache. On the way to it we met taybee and taybee nz returning from the cache (who had picked up the TB that was in it). We met a few other people too and were a little surprised how many folk use this area. It was good to see the All Blacks flag flying high still and not at half mast after the mornings semi-final. Thank you DOCMotueka for bringing us along here.
