Our one find in Jenolan Caves. One of two Earthcaches discovered today. We were guided through Lucas Cave, hence our glimpse of the famed Blue Lake as its currently closed to the public due to renovations. TFTECSupervising youngest teenager on L-plate country driving practice all day. Our visit here being our halfway point, a nice break for 2.5 hours.

A loose plan was hatched for a 3-week road trip with RoamingHowie to explore locations in Country NSW wed not been to before and of course, find a cache here and there.DAY SIX: Jenolan Caves, Oberon, a couple of LGAs and chill. We booked in for the Chifley Cave tour - a moderate walk with 400+ stairs. Parked in the top carpark, and strolled down past the Blue Lake. Lots of photo opportunities, both inside and out. Amazing caves with incredible stories to go with them. Answers submitted. Thanks for bringing us here by placing this earthcache, Team sissifalke ~~
It was time for the traditional post Christmas road trip. The stockings were emptied of presents, feasts were devoured and great times were had with family and friends. Now to get away!Day 6: New Years Eve! Its time to go cave exploring. We are off east of Bathurst to explore some new LGAs and do some sightseeing.Answers submitted by OzHockeyChick. Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. Started on the 17th September in Cairns. Our plan is driving.along the eastcoast down. Then in the south on to Adelaide and from there ending the 31th October in Alice Springs.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Team sissifalke, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
Found this one with the family. Permission to log was granted a while ago, but just getting around to logging it now.

This was one of the highlights of our trip out over the mountain. We booked a Cave tour before coming and luckily we did, considering they were sold out on the day and not letting anyone without a ticket just venture on down.
Enjoyed learning all about the caves and the history.

Took the family to the caves today. Toured the Chifley Cave. Huge adventure with the escort to get to the car park. Don’t come here unless you pre-book tickets. Good geology excursion. Only problem is the blue lake is empty.
Finally got to Jenolan Caves after it being closed for ages!
Stayed for a few days in Caves House, highly recommend! Did 3 caves, Baal, Lucas & Diamond, all stunning!
Lots of areas out of action due to fire & flood damage, including the Blue Lake & most surrounding walks.
Well worth a visit though.

We are on a cachey 10 day holiday, starting off with 2 nights at Emu Plains to hopefully collect the new GFA puzzle caches around Luddenham and some more of the Band caches north of Penrith. Then it’s 5 nights at Oberon to collect some of the many new & old puzzle caches that we have solved around the area, and also hoping to complete the Oberon Adventure Lab. After leaving Oberon we will be visiting Jenolan Caves, for both the caves and the Jenolan EarthCache, then heading to Katoomba for 2 nights to ride the Scenic World attractions (Railway, Cableway, & Skyway) and to do a few caches of various types plus an Adventure Lab. We will end the holiday with a stop-off at Wentworth Falls for some more caches and a couple of Adventure Labs.
Today we will be visiting Jenolan Caves, for both the caves and the Jenolan EarthCache, then heading to Katoomba, with a brief stop-off at Hartley Cemetery for a Traditional cache. This was our 1st find of the day (day , and 164th find of the holiday.
Arrived at the upper carpark, which is the only carpark open at present, and had our presence in the valley validated by one of the guides (you must have booked accommodation at Caves House or at least one booked cave tour to be permitted into the valley at present). We then walked down to the caves, via Carlotta Arch, and waited for our 11:00am Chifley Cave tour. After the tour we had lunch and it was soon time for our 1:30pm Orient Cave tour.
Both caves were very beautiful, and we enjoyed both of the tours. Sadly the Blue Lake and Devil’s Coach House are currently closed due to major flood damage, and the Grand Arch is only accessible during cave tours.
The answers to the questions have been sent to the CO for approval. TFTEC Team sissifalke.

Have been here many times over the 20+ years we lived in the area.
Have been through some of the adventure caves and even caves rescue training here many years ago.
The caves have done it tough and have basically been closed since late 2019 with Bushfires, floods, landslides and now covid.
Be wonderful to visit the area again when things get back to normal.

At the caves for Christmas in July. Got the full deal, it snowed overnight. Really great weekend. The Blue lake is currently a gravel pit due to the last lot of flooding
Caching with Key_Tat and Viper_101... in Bathurst visiting family during the latest COVID rubbish.
COVID means that the cave tours require pre-booking, so we were the only ones in the 'Orient' cave during our tour... which was awesome. Unfortunately the way to the blue lake was closed, so we couldn't go and see it today.
Thanks for placing the EC. It was an awesome experience.

Arrived at Jenolan to find that the pedestrian access path to the caves was closed today due to dangerous falling rocks!!
Enjoyed a coffee in the sun from the cafe and then drove through the arch.
We parked a bit further up the road and walked back and were able to see the blue lake and the arch above it.

Had a lovely day at Jenolan Caves - Lucas cave was amazing!! Came here when I was a kid but don’t remember much. Fun adventure. Great for kids. TFTC!
I have been to the caves quite a few years ago, and returning here, by way of the Six Foot Track! We did a car shuffle as
buses are not running due to the caves being shut at the moment. We left two cars at the caves No 1 carpark last Friday 2nd October.
There were road works, and as it was later in the afternoon, the stop/slow thing was happening. Also the blue lake was being worked on, excavators removing ash and debris from the fires and flooding earlier this year.
We did the Six Foot Track over four days, and arrived at Jenolan on Tuesday 6th October. Walking in, we could see the blue lake, and it was indeed blue once more. After lunch at the cafe at Jenolan, the road out to Hartley was closed altogether. We had to drive out through Oberon and Bathurst which was only a minor detour for us.
This is a beautiful part of the world, thank you for this Earthcache Team sissifalke, a favourite point from me : )
Staying close by for the weekend at Jenolan Cabins the geokiddies apparently remember a time when we visited the caves a long time ago and didnt get anything from the cafe. So we thought a drive down on our leaving day prior to caching the TRLT series. It turns out the caves are closed for now but the cafe is not. So coffees, pies and sausage rolls was on the cards. This will make sure they dont complain about going to the cafe again(to which we did back then as well mind you). We were able to walk around and acquire the correct information. There is some roadworks going on and repairs after the fires and the floods. What a year we’re having. Tftec
I work in caves house from time to time. And I have a special connection with the place as my ancestors found the grand arch and devils coach house. I live about 20km from Jenolan

We had a great day visiting Jenolan caves. I have great childhood memories of my parents taking us here. I think we have done every caves and the river cave was my favourite, which is now closed. I remember climbing ladders not stairs like we did today in the Lucas cave. This was my grandsons first visit here and he also enjoyed the day.
Having visited Jenolan many years ago I was keen to visit with the family. The fires in the area had our plans on hold until yesterday, all looked okay so we booked accomadation and the awesome Orient cave tour and fingers crossed it's not to smokey. As it happened we had most of the day with a beautiful blue sky until the smoke blew in in the afternoon.
Spent a wonderful day exploring about, the cave tour was a highlight, just as good the second time for me too. A lot of the walking tracks were closed for safety reasons with the fires but the blue lake walk was still open and was able to walk it's length, loved the water dragons and other lizards and cool to see so many lyerbirds too.
Answers were sent and I really liked this straight forward earthcache. Thanks for the EC, answers sent and received my okay with them.

What a wonderful day (after a long drive from Sydney). First the entrance trough the big arch to discover the old buildings - like the "Feengrotten" in Thuringia. We visit the Lucas-case(s) - giant caves and a lot of stairs. Absolutely beautiful. And outside the "Blue Lake" with ancient animals, bathing in the sun. Thanks for the cache.
What a beautiful place. Here with my husband, sister, brother in law and niece. Beautiful location, amazing caves beautiful walks. Sadly we didn’t see any platypus in the blue lake. Plenty of other wildlife though. Tftc.
Found -- 4:27 pm -- Thanks for bringing us to this location and Thanks for the hunt *Team sissifalke*.
AWESOME, my Favourite - an EARTH Cache !! What a MAGIC ! place this is, another world indeed. I came here when I was about 8 years old, many moons ago. I had pictures in my head that didn't even match what I saw today. I could sit on the bench seat near GZ and admire this location all day. So glad I made the effort to come via here, but if it wasn't for your Earth Cache I may have been less inclined. I walked through the tunnel with my compsnions and *Mr TOC* had the privledge to drive.

CO emailed. A place I visited semi-regularly in the 90s and early 00s and now thanks to Geocaching I have once again visited this majestical place. Never ceases to truly amaze and especially that this Earth Cache is the one to garner me the Souvenir for 2019 Earth Cache Weekend. Being a bit of a geology buff, Earth Caches are my favourite Cache type to go for. I know I’m in the minority there but I make no nevermind
Much obliged to Team Sissifalke for this Earth Cache.

We were camping at Dingo Dell over the long weekend, and made a trip to the Jenolan Caves to take part in a guided tour. We have wanted to visit the caves for a long time, but we deemed it a bit far for just a day trip from Sydney. Thus, the long weekend worked out well because we could camp in the area and then visit the caves without a rush.
The tours are quite popular, and being a long weekend things were very busy. I had booked before we got here, so at least we were still able to get on a tour. Not the one we had hoped to do, but they are probably all very enjoyable.
After spelunking we took a leisurely walk around the blue lake, and also visited the other caves that are open for a self-guided walk. Quite a difference in temperature from being in the cool caves to getting outside into the heat of the day.
All in all, a wonderful day spent out here, and an interesting place that deserves more exploration.

We visited Jenolan for two days, did some hiking, visited the caves and saw the platypus in Blue Lake. Altogether this place is really great! Thanks fot the cache!
Visited the Lucas Cave of Jenolan Caves. A very nice place to walk. The roads there are a bit narrow.
On vacation with my family from Oslo in Norway . Beautiful location and we will visit the caves first thing tomorrow. Tftc.
The caves are worth a trip to see.

Waiting for our wonderful cave tour on a weekend away with my gorgeous children ️️️
Stayed at the Cave House last night, then took a morning tour of the Temple of Baal. Enjoyed it tremendously, especially all the helictites. Would have loved to take another tour in the afternoon, but my old knees couldn’t handle another dose of all those stairs. Thanks for the earthcache.
The cave is incredible, the best part of my vacation, visiting from Seattle, WA, tfth
We're on a day trip from Sydney. Last day before heading home to Seattle after over 2 weeks in Australia and New Zealand. Took the Lucas Cave tour here after stopping at the Three Sisters. What a spectacular way to end our vacation. Thanks for the Earthcache!
We were visiting Australia for 2 months from our home on the west coast of Canada and my husband came here when he was a child and we just had to come back to check out the caves again. This is a magical location and we weren't disappointed. We spent about 3 hours here doing a tour and just walking around taking photos.
Visited the caves today and toured the Imperial Diamond cave - very impressive! Answers have been sent- luckily we are already very familiar with the geological processes that occur in these types of caves. Our barely 3 year old Feetlet even impressed the cave guide by correctly naming stalagmites when asked what the formations were.
Great day out exploring the caves!
Will have to come back to do the adventure ones with a bit more of a caving take into the visit
Beautiful scenery, and was hoping to see one of the resident platypus that lives in the lake... but had no luck today

Team Lillieb05 were heading north to take in the sites around Lake Macquarie. This was a little detour on the way up as we planned on seeing Jenolan Caves for the first time. Logged although still awaiting confirmation. Had a sick daughter but we luckily got through one of the caves on a tour and by this stage was feeling much better. Thanks for the cache and the effort that goes into placing and maintaining all the great hides.
Today we visited the caverns and made a tour through the oriental chambers. They were really huge and impressiv. It is worth to visit this place.

One of the main attractions for our vacation down under with kimallus was Jenolan Caves and there we headed today after staying overnight in Katoomba.
We really like earth caches so we wanted to complete this exercise while we were here anyway exploring the magnificent and spectacular area. To our disappointment the path to Nettle caves was still closed. We visited Lucas caves though and could figure out answers to some questions, and I have sent those to CO. Favourite place and favourite point to this excellent earth cache. Thanks for the earth cache.

The Nettle Cave Tour was inaccessible today due to falling rocks, so we could not visit stages 4 and 5. In addition to the Lucas caves which we visited today, this earth cache was our main target for today. And we surely would have visited all the stages if only the trail would have been accessible.
Thank you so much for this lovely earth cache! FP in.

Today with the family in tow we did a tour of the caves and then I took a wader to find this one. With the path blocked off I certainly earned the terrain stars for this one. From the lodge it was a wander up and over the hill, on the way I checked out the Arch along the way and then a drop into the Devils Coach house. I looked around for a while within the areas that weren't taped off for #6 but no luck. I've sent our answers via the message centre.

Up to the bluies this w/e for a family getaway with nothing but a GPS and a pack of cards. Mrs novo has always wanted to see the caves, one of the boys already has thanks to a school excursion, and the other boy comes back in a month or so for his. So we visited the Chifley cave which they don't do for school. That was great. As is reported in previous logs though, the Nettle Cave is currently closed along with the path thru to Devils Coach House. The WP locations confused us somewhat as the Nettle Cave and DCH appeared to be further NE, well on the eastern end of the Grand Arch, whereas the WPs appear to be right on it? So we decided to head up top to the Carlotta Arch area to see if maybe we could make sense of the WPs up there somewhere. But the locations, while definitely located above the Grand Arch, were way out of bounds as the only way to get to them was SOUTH over the top of the Carlotta Arch?
Nonetheless, our tour of Chifley, and other locations around the site, namely up around the north rim of the Grand Arch, gave us the answers required to log the cache.
We went down past the dam and crossed the trestle bridge to sit by the waterfall to enjoy a picnic lunch. The terrain up top around the Carlotta Arch for me was the most impressive part of the area. The Six Foot Track at the Carlotta Arch where it heads over the top of Nettle/ DCH and beyond looked very inviting! TFTEC, Team sissifalke.

Wow! What an amazing day of caving at Jenolan Caves. The cave entrance was driven through - a stunning site to see nature's fantasy land!
We made our way to Nettle Cave, seeing a kangaroo enroute. The questions were answered as we took the self tour option through, entering from the massive Devil's Coach House Cave.
Having completed the earthcache questions (answers sent to the CO), we enjoyed a scenic bush track, spotting some rock wallabies and beautiful birds enroute. A great day of exploration. Tftc.

We had some time before our first tour but were a little surprised to find the track closed. Its our first time to Jenolan in about 15 years, and the first bringing our two geodaughters. They had both done a mini caving trip as part of school so we felt like it was time to show them the real deal.
Our first tour was the default option, the Lucas Cave and its as impressive as always. Excellent tour to give the impression of vast underground spaces. After lunch we did the amazing Orient tour.... simply the best it gets at Jenolan.
Will send answers through for the questinos we can answer. Fave fro us as we love Jenolan

The path is still closed at the Devil’s Coach House. It is possible to access most of the areas by taking the track behind the Rangers hut up over the hill and down into Nettle Cave. (About a 20min walk each way). We couldn’t find no. 6 though.
For my 50th I was given a caving adventure tour so we decided to make a weekend out of it. Arriving Sat lunchtime we started with the Earthcache then settled into the Gatehouse accommodation. Saturday arvo we did River Cave, beautiful. Sunday morning with the temperature hovering around -2deg C we donned our overalls and caving helmets and ventured out with the group to Alladin’s Cave. Lots of fun and a little challenging for us novice cavers. We hope to return and tackle the full day adventure of Mammoth Cave.

Lots of fun and a little challenging for us novice cavers. We hope to return and tackle the full day adventure of Mammoth Cave.

Track still closed. Cache should be disabled for now. Guides say it may be closed for a long time.
I really wanted to find this as it would have been a find that was 7500 miles from home.

The pathway to the Nettle Cave is still closed but while we were at Jenolan, our group did the Chifley Cave tour & the Imperial-Diamond Cave. We also had a look at the underground river. Awesome! The Blue Lake really is blue!
Should probably be temporarily disabled as the trail is closed. Such a pity, I looked forward to this one. Fantastic caves to exlore. I hope it will open again.
After finishing walking the six foot track, we base camped at the cave house and collected the local caches. Watched the platypus playing around in the lake and a lyrebird frolicking in the bush nearby. We walked up the McKeown's Valley track and visited the caves.
NOTE: Due to falling rocks, they have TEMPORARILY closed the entrance to the Devil's Coach House Cave at the Grand Arch end. You can still walk up to Carlotta Arch, and then down into the McKeown's Valley. From there you can explore the Devils Coach House Cave, or walk up the McKeown's Valley track. However, you must return the same way, via Carlotta Arch. Also, one side of the Blue Lake Loop is TEMPORARILY closed.
Thanks for the Earthcache.

DieFraudiemitmuss, Lundi263, Murri24 and I made this year a very great tour together. Our first target is Melbourne. So we started early in the morning to visit the city and to make a few geocaches. We found very nice locations and interesting spots. One day we rent a car. Very early in the morning we drive from Melbourne City over Geelong to the Great Ocean Road. Along this road we found so much interesting spots, we see a great landscape, and had have not enough time for sightseeing. The weather was fine but a little bit windy. This day was very long and hard, but wonderful.
After that we visit the Grampians. A little bit rain, a little bit windy and a little bit sunny day, we had fasten all weathers. We visit waterfalls, canyons, sandstone fomations and any Look Outs. Puhhh, what a great landscape.
The next part of our journey is to explore the Outback. From Ayers Rock we take a car and drive over Kings Canyon and many other Look Outs to Alice Springs. We visit any very interesting Caches and had a great time by comfortable temperature.
Now we drive from Melbourne over Canberra, Batemans Bay, Wollongong, Blue Mountains and Sydney. We want to see so much as possible of this part of Australia. Today we started in early in the morning. We drive from Mittagong to the Wombeyan Cave, to the Jenolan Cave and also to Karoomba. We have a great day with many impressions.
This Cache was one of the Caches, wich I would visit in Australia. Thank you very much for showing. This theme was very interesting. I have learned a lot over the australian geology.
Here I will give a Fav.-Point.

Together with Team "GER-17" (consisting of murri24, der Eifelaner & dieFraudiemitmuss and me) I was able to find this Cache today.
Unfortunately I couldn't take a picture at this Earth Cache. Before going to the first Cache location of the day my phone kind of died. The screen froze while I wanted to take a picture from an info sign. Had to wait until the battery was fully empty so I could restart. [:o] Strange to have the same "picture" on your screen for 3-4 hours straight.
But I'm just happy that it's working again.
The answers were already sent by der Eifelaner and are hopefully ok.
Thanks a lot for this Cache!

Our second day of our three day roadtrip was all about Jenolan Caves. The trip from Katoomba via deserted back road was very enjoyable and after a short, steep descent we arrived at the caves where we drove through the Grand Hall to the other side to the parking lot.
We booked the Diamond Cave tour and spent 1.5 hours in the caves and admired some of nature's wonders. The Nettle Cave tour is not available, so we were unable to complete all answers, but we made an attempt in answering some of them.
Many thanks for the Earth Cache.

Have had these answers in my notebook for about a year. Thought I might use them for a souvenir. Love going to concerts in the main arch, other then that I'm not really a cave person. Glad they have this free tour you can take yourself through. Steep country. TFTEC Answers on the way.
Would have loved to trudge through this cave as well as the Lucas and Chifley cave today, but as the sign says it is still closed. Answered as best we could and Placed pictures of us at the caves, thanks for the cache
Came with Team MADZ for my first ever visit to the caves. I really enjoyed it as it's nothing I've ever seen before.
I can't remember if i'd ever been to the caves as a kid, but today we ticked off two caves from the to-do list. Shame we missed the Nettle but we did get to see some spectacular formations.
Planned a trip to Jenolan for the long weekend and was sad to see that the Nettle Cave was not available, but that's nature! We visited the Chifley and Lucas caves and saw a wide range of cave types and structures. A couple of maintenance guys were following us around testing the lighting as they had had some problems the day before. The place was heaving with tourists but we were able to grab a quiet moment by the Blue Lake in between tours. Thanks for placing this EC Team sissifalke, will have to come back again some day when the Nettle cave is accessible again.
On my last trip here I came along this narrow twisty road by bus and it was quite scary. But this time we made arrive nice and early by car and not much oncoming traffic. Nettle Cave is still closed but were able to visit the Chifley and Lucas to get the real caves experience.
thank you for the cache. What a nice idea, solved the questions and sent a photo to you. Regards from Berlin.
The Jenolan Caves, the nettle caves are closed.
Please upload beautiful pictures of another cave in the listing and you can temporarily log.

We were visiting Jenolan Caves today as part of Samuel737's birthday celebrations. My second time here, still a jaw-dropping place. Certainly worth the return trip. Answers emailed to CO. FP added.

Day out at Jenolan Caves. Liked this one. Emailed answers to CO. Have been through the Devils coach house before, very impressive. A well put together cache with an informative history and scientific explanation of the geology of the area. Fav point. Tftc
