Spending some time caching around the NSW/ACT southern tablelands with lots of side trips. TFTC. A quiet caching day today with a trip from Oberon to Canberra.Took a while for the puzzle to work out. Quick find at GZ.
#14710 12:08A long day of geocaching on the West side of the Blue Mountains, from Mount Victoria to Bathurst. In the company of Brewmaker it was an enjoyable day.TFTC Joshwa27
Staying a couple of days in Oberon because after 150ml of rain last night we're not sure if we can get out of the campground. With this being our first visit to the town and there's unfound caches to find we were happy to stay put. If geocache logs were wet today it would be understandable.. this one was completely dry. TFTC Joshwa27.
Reperio 13:59Today I headed out towards Oberon, and with that came the chance to pick up a few caches, especially some of the TRLT series. Hadnt been through Oberon for quite a few years, so it was great to return today. No problems with this one today. Puzzle was tricky in some of the questions. Cache was at gz. Heading out to the TRLT and stopped on way past. TFTC and the history lesson.
Found while in the Oberon area with WaywardWoman. Signed log and returned as found. TFTC
Quick find after solving the puzzle a few weeks ago, thanks joshwa27 for all the history and jigsaw caches you have placed for our enjoyment.TFTC
We are on a cachey 10 day holiday, starting off with 2 nights at Emu Plains to hopefully collect the new GFA puzzle caches around Luddenham and some more of the Band caches north of Penrith. Then it’s 5 nights at Oberon to collect some of the many new & old puzzle caches that we have solved around the area, and also hoping to complete the Oberon Adventure Lab. After leaving Oberon we will be visiting Jenolan Caves, for both the caves and the Jenolan EarthCache, then heading to Katoomba for 2 nights to ride the Scenic World attractions (Railway, Cableway, & Skyway) and to do a few caches of various types plus an Adventure Lab. We will end the holiday with a stop-off at Wentworth Falls for some more caches and a couple of Adventure Labs.
Today we are staying close to our park cabin at the Jenolan (Oberon) Caravan Park, taking a walk around the Oberon town centre to collect some caches and Adventure Lab stages in the morning, and investigating some other areas on the edge of town in the afternoon. This was our 18th find of the day (day 4), and 79th find of the holiday.
The puzzle was solved before leaving home, but the collection of the cache this afternoon was in an unexpected location that we really enjoyed visiting. Initially drove right past the entry road/track but then doubled back and found the entry point. Quickly located the cache, signed the log, picked up the TB to move on, and then replaced as found. We then spent a while wandering around the grounds and reading the various historical inscriptions in the setting sunlight.
Thanks Joshwa27 for the puzzle & cache, and for the surprise historical location, which all up gets a Favourite point from us.

#2799 First of thirty finds in and around Oberon. Found after a short search. TFTC
Found this one today after solving a few months ago. The area is an interesting one, makes me think these people had more money than some other cemetaries we have visited. All in order with the cache at GZ. TFTC
Another interesting history lesson and an interesting place to visit. Why do these places always seem to be at the top of hills?

Found all thanks to the better half. On a miserable day she decided to solve this one without me even promoting her! I think I'm slowly making her a convert. I just had to do the easy part and go to a nice little spot out of town. TFTC
Heading somewhere unknown but stopping for caches on our way. We walked around and looked around the trees hoping not to see any snakes None seen today *phew*! Thanks for the hide. ️️ OCW *Throsbyonchurch* with *Little Panther* in the mix. ️
I solved this one in the build up to my trip away,I missed the turn into GZ so after a quick u-turn at the fish I drove back to arrived and notice the likely candidate and soon found the hide

Did the homework a while ago & today I was completing a caching day in the greater area – once I arrived to GZ area I was amazed as you could drive past here without it existing – did a waymark here also so 2 for the $ of 1 visit - TFTC / TFTH / SL
This is another puzzle where we enjoyed the research. As with others, it gave us more insight into some of the history of the area. Today, as snow was falling quite steadily, we went to look for the cache. It was a very easy find because the case was out in the open, at least 8m from the nearest object. Thankfully the cache and contents were in good condition. After signing the log, we replaced the cache at the location our GPS indicated was GZ, and covered it with natural cammo. Thanks *joshwa27* for another enjoyable puzzle and the cache.
A tricky puzzle to solve.
I kept getting the names mixed up
And despite not getting the "Success" message from the 'checker',
me coordinates looked like they were in a good area
So this arvo I went for a wander,
and not too far from where I thought,
I found this cache
TFTC and more history !! [^]

#4775- Clawing my way to my five thousandth cache. My last of six in the area today. I had worked this out a while ago, and when we arrived here, without looking at the GPS I guessed where it would be. I was right, and a familiar Joshwa container too. Luckily, it was deadly quiet here today too. Thanks

One of the main attractions for our vacation down under with kimallus was Jenolan Caves and there we headed today after staying overnight in Katoomba.
Continuing our route back to Sydney via Oberon. First we thought that we'll just do some traditionals today. But then we managed to find a multi, so we wanted to have triple and a puzzle was needed. While eating the great pizzas we spotted this puzzle from the map and it seemed solvable. And it was, as after some investigations and after not so many tries - on the first - the checker approved our suggestion. On the way to the hotel, excellent. Parking was not really the best possible, but ok and close by. Obvious hiding place in accurate coordinates, so kimallus had the cache in hands very quickly. Thanks for the cache.

We needed a mystery cache find today, so we decided to look into this one if it could be solved when having our lunch. When we were finishing our pizza, we were also ready to try the geochecker - all correct!
Luckily the final stage was on our way back to hotel, so no problems in visiting the box today.
Thank you for the cache and showing us this very interesting history and place!

Staying in the Jenolan Caravan Park and intended to walk up town early this morning to search for Oberon Central. But alas, it was raining and miserably cold so stayed in the warmth of the caravan and spent the time solving this puzzle. In the afternoon, the rain went away, but there was still a cold wind, but still came out to search.
Found easily.

Out with Brewmaker on a two day adventure. On this, our second day, we started at Burraga Dam to continue on The Road Less Travelled touring trail (our third time out for this series) and other associated caches along the way. Passed Mount David and back to Burraga and then on towards Rockley (a very nice little historic town). Then it was along the dirt road to Oberon for lunch and more caches around the town, before finally heading back to Sydney.
It was perfect weather to be touring around the countryside, seeing lots of native birds and farm animals along the way. Thanks to all of the cache owners for the clear directions, hints, and good easy hides. Only a couple took more than a minute to locate. TFTCs

On a 2 day caching adventure with GeodudeAU to clear some caches over the Blue Mountains. Starting from Hartley heading south to stop by Burraga Dam overnight, then heading north to Rockley and Oberon. We had a very successful trip, notching up 115 smileys, and exploring many out of the way places. Lots of interesting scenery and wildlife along the way. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these hides.

Found this cache at 3.05pm while driving a circuit from Lithgow, Jenolan Caves road to Oberon picking up some caches and enjoying the scenery. A very old cemetery. Thanks joshwa27 for the hide.

Three geocachers (mizmaz, envirogirl86, and myself) embarked on a monumental long weekend to complete as much of TRLT series (and additional) as we could. (Apologies for the generic log). Awesome series!! TFTC!
Ticking off a few easy “History of…” puzzles as we completed the southern end of TRLT series. Helps to understand more about the countryside we would experience over our three day roadtrip and added to the tally of almost 200 smilies.
3 girls (Mizmaz, StumbleTrip and myself), a car, a gps and a sense of adventure resulted in 198 caches over 3 days. And, of course, we decided to go on our adventure on the coldest weekend in 110 years.
This was another of the "history of..." series that brought us to an area which we otherwise would not have ventured. TFTC

Fitzy_1965 and I headed out for another day of caching in the Oberon-Lithgow area. Decided to pick up some out of the way caches and to fill in some gaps.
Was not happy about jumping out to grab this one with a huge dog barking from the other side of the fence. But suck it up I did and soon had cache in hand.

Solved the puzzle in preparation for the trip so swung by on the way to the TRLT series. Quick find at this quiet place

Another big day out with Caching Wench Number 1 starting with an early departure from Canberra, with perfect weather for our ramble along those country roads for many many finds. Next find of the day - pre-solved so a quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, returned the cache, and we headed off to the next one.

Another interesting look at Oberon's history. No doubt today's Oberon residents are glad of the name change. TFTC joshwa.
After much deliberation and comparing of diaries, The Rats, Steeba and I eventually found a weekend that we could all commit to completing the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, along with some caching in Bathurst (which was actually the scene of our first combined geocaching trip nine years ago!). A last minute trip overseas for me cropped up; but I arranged it so that I could fly home just in time to not miss out on this caching extravaganza.
Friday night we headed to Abercrombie River via Goulburn (from Wollongong), and camped at the campsite there. Saturday saw us drive the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, ending up in Bathurst right on dinner time. We then found some local caches before staying at a friend's house for the night. On Sunday we headed back out to Oberon for some more caches and then did a couple of loops around Bathurst. We had originally planned to stay Sunday night, but once we clicked over 300 finds for the weekend the inspiration started to wane, and we all agreed to turn our heads for home.
Cheers

Nothing beats a "road trip". My find count had been suffering from the "rest of life" getting in the way of caching so along with Steeba and Hoojar a plan was hatched to go "beyond the Great Divide". The 2nd half of the TRLT looked to be the obvious solution. Under perfect skies and with gps loaded we hit the dirt roads.
Day 2 of our caching trip and we were out on the roads again. We headed to Oberon and some of the back roads around Bathurst before getting a few more caches in Bathurst. By days end we’d put a good dint in our "beyond the Great Divide" so decided to head for home. Thanks to all the CO’s of the caches we found along the way. Apologises for the template style log but with 300 finds for the weekend each container begins to look the same.

The Rats, Hoojar and myself made for the wider Bathurst area for a weekend finding some of TRLT series of caches.
The whole area was quite green and recent rains had meant the grass had exploded everywhere and was 3 or 4 foot high around many of the caches.
Not only did we find plenty of TRLT, there were many 'History of' caches found amongst others. Thanks to all the hiders. TFTC!

My last for a big day of something like 80 caches. My last attempt to find this had me half a km away. Funny how things work out.
We started our next adventure tour from Wallerawang to Batemans Bay via Oberon. We saw many beautiful animals. We drove slowly so we could still see them crossing the road.
We have found this cache in the way to Batemans Bay.

Wilbert67 and us have been planning an over night trip to Bathurst and pre solved many puzzles in preparation, we also picked up quite a few others along the way. We left early in the morning and we were hoping for better weather in light of all the rain we been having and good weather we had. We had an enjoyable day with only 4 DNF out of approximately 43. A big thanks to all the CO for making our trip enjoyable. TFTC.
On A weekender with J+J.AU, Goulburn, Oberon, Bathurst, Lithgow and back is our goal. Solved lots of puzzles as a preparation for this trip and happy to collect in on a lot of them. More eyes makes easier caching. Started with some fog and cold on Saturday morning, but the weather got better and better. Thanks for putting out all the caches!

Finalf29 had a TAFE excursion to the Mayfield Gardens, so I came along to do a bit of caching as well. The weather was beautiful, the gardens were wonderful and the company fantastic. We spent too long at the gardens so only got thirteen before it got dark. We will definitely be back up this way again.
This was our ninth for the day. We only had a few hours until the sun set so madly rushed around Oberon finding what we could. I had to do a little more internet work on this one as some of the answers were a little bit elusive. Didn't take long to find. Only after I had finished logging duties and was walking back to the car, did a ferocious dog starting barking (behind a fence) right near the GZ. Glad I had moved as it would have scared the bajeebees out of me. I love these history puzzle caches. Thanks

Happy Uke and I attended a TAFE excursion to the NSW country town of Oberon. We visited the Mayfield Gardens which I can recommend to any garden enthusiast as being well worthwhile. The gardens are a work in progress and cover several acres.
Happy Uke did all the legwork on this one I am relieved to say.
Thanks!

Another lovely historical place to visit. Only had time for a quick look around today - maybe another time. TFT puzzle cache.
When we drove in, we knew exactly where we needed to look, but 3 barking dogs at the fence meant we needed to wander the masonry for a while first. After they finally got used to us, it was an easy find.
Some great inscriptions on some of the headstones here if you take the time to look.

We found the cache easily and did caching duties. After that we looked about the cemetery (this is why we don't find caches at the rate others can) We looked at every grave in the cemetery, in fact, noting that there were a number of key families, including the Whalan family, represented there. Thanks for taking us there.
#3,946
We had a hard time finding the access to this location. We drove past, we could see the cemetery, but couldn't figure out how to get it. We did a blockie, thinking the entrance might be on another street, but ended up back near where we started. So we parked & walked. On foot, the entrance was easier to spot. Luckily the cache was much easier to find!
This one gave us a debate. I declared that the Whalan's shouldn't get the credit for discovering Jenolan Caves, and that the bushranger should. But bikerbuddy argued that 'discovery' had to have elements of reporting on your finds to others. This was the first of many debates I lost over the weekend.
