We always enjoy looking at these historic puzzles when we travel through this region. There is still many left for us to solve! This one was done sometime ago, and today as we are making our way through to Canberra, we stopped for the Hide. Thanks Joshwa27Domsky

29-Sep-24
Only made this solve late night so made the time to collect this morning. All found okay.Day two in Oberon with sacada while in town with a family event. Having been working on a few puzzles over the past day or two we stopped for a few more. Has a chance to do a few other caches, AL, multi and an oldie. Sunday wasn't the best day to do a church multi, and had a proactive paster experience at one and a memorable walk through some tough terrain for an old cache. Lovely area and scenery. The rain at 5.30pm called us to a stop, time to head back into town, catch up with the folk there, and grab pizza for dinner. Thanks for your cache that helped us explore the area.

29-Sep-24
Townsville to grab the Palm Island LGA. Now only 2 LGAs to complete Australia.Back around Canberra and doing some side trips.TFTC. Another day in Oberon. A multi around the churches on a Sunday morning can bring some interesting situations. Did some more of the solved puzzles, a bunch of trads, a difficult trad, the Ad Lab, an Earth Cache, and also out to Jenolen for an old cache.Great puzzle and nice quick find.

#14713 12:44A long day of geocaching on the West side of the Blue Mountains, from Mount Victoria to Bathurst. In the company of Brewmaker it was an enjoyable day. After a thorough search we ended up empty handed, and put a new cache container at the most obvious hiding spot.TFTC Joshwa27

We are traveling with Geoturtle 37, Papi4506 & The Drovers to do an assault on Bathurst and are picking up a few caches along the way.Knowing that we were coming up here we worked on these History of puzzles and we have to say that it took us awhile to come up with co-ords.On the other hand we did enjoy learning some history of towns that we had no idea about. It was nice to get close to some of the places we had researched. This was another quick find for us today in an obvious location. To save room we signed as The Mob.Thanks for the cache

06-May-24
Day 2 of our Bathurst trip with Team Crackers, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506.Today we did a lot of country driving, through nearby towns. The scenery was lovely with the trees turning a multitude of different colours for winter. All puzzles were solved before the trip. This is one of the caches we stopped to find along the way.A quick search and the cache was located, signed and replaced. Many thanks for placing this cache, Joshwa27, for us and others to find.

After spending a couple of weeks in Canberra attending the Mega Event it was time to head back to Brisbane. We have a few weeks to travel so we are meandering up through country NSW. Another fantastic Jigsaw picture. TFTC

Day 1 of the last phase of our journey home. 12hrs trip from Canberra to Tamworth with a few LGA stops on the way.Trying to solve this last night but the checker was not very helpful. Did a PAF and they had the same issue and co-ordinate. Now with this info we were able to leave our mark. OCaching with and signing as the group 'Q3' and having a great day.TFTCache Joshwa27

Solved the puzzle some time ago when I was trying to keep up with the HO series. I didn't succeed but it's still good to find some unexpected solved icons in random places we visit. I enjoy these history lessons and must get on to solving more.It was quite soggy underfoot but lush and green because of it. A quick find.. TFTC Joshwa27.

Interesting history here. Thanks for the cache hide. The trip bit.Easter geocaching festival of twenty twenty four. This time it is the turn of Oz Mega GeoBash MEGA event in the nation's capital. It is time for a road trip across country to Canberra in the Sporty Pajero Sports. Freddo and Gridge98 traveling from Adelaide via a strange inland route that takes in scenic rural locations, dusty roads, punctured tyres, overheating batteries, various tools of the trade, special campgrounds, and lots scope for many many geocaching finds. Along the way we saw running emus, jumping kangaroos, wandering deer, dead foxes, herds of wooly sheep and stray steers.Arriving in Canberra we met our colleagues e.gregory1, featherwaite, team walron, courtney rose, davidwazza, e_smilie, and georode, signing as ABP, plus a huge group of other like minded excited mega geocachers attending event after event, and more events.Day one. Adelaide to Broken HillDay two. Broken Hill to WellingtonDay three. Wellington to CowraDay four. Cowra to BathurstDay five. Bathurst to CanberraDay six. Canberra to CanberraDay seven. Canberra to QueenbeeyanDay eight. Canberra to AdelaideThe generic bit.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We are on a cachey 10 day holiday, starting off with 2 nights at Emu Plains to hopefully collect the new GFA puzzle caches around Luddenham and some more of the Band caches north of Penrith. Then it’s 5 nights at Oberon to collect some of the many new & old puzzle caches that we have solved around the area, and also hoping to complete the Oberon Adventure Lab. After leaving Oberon we will be visiting Jenolan Caves, for both the caves and the Jenolan EarthCache, then heading to Katoomba for 2 nights to ride the Scenic World attractions (Railway, Cableway, & Skyway) and to do a few caches of various types plus an Adventure Lab. We will end the holiday with a stop-off at Wentworth Falls for some more caches and a couple of Adventure Labs.

Today we are staying close to our park cabin at the Jenolan (Oberon) Caravan Park, taking a walk around the Oberon town centre to collect some caches and Adventure Lab stages in the morning, and investigating some other areas on the edge of town in the afternoon. This was our 8th find of the day (day 4), and 69th find of the holiday.

The puzzle was solved before leaving home, and the cache was a nice quick find in an interesting historical location that's always good for a browse. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. Thanks Joshwa27 for the puzzle & cache.

Out with Brewmaker on a two day adventure. On this, our second day, we started at Burraga Dam to continue on The Road Less Travelled touring trail (our third time out for this series) and other associated caches along the way. Passed Mount David and back to Burraga and then on towards Rockley (a very nice little historic town). Then it was along the dirt road to Oberon for lunch and more caches around the town, before finally heading back to Sydney.
It was perfect weather to be touring around the countryside, seeing lots of native birds and farm animals along the way. Thanks to all of the cache owners for the clear directions, hints, and good easy hides. Only a couple took more than a minute to locate. TFTCs

3 girls (Mizmaz, StumbleTrip and myself), a car, a gps and a sense of adventure resulted in 198 caches over 3 days. And, of course, we decided to go on our adventure on the coldest weekend in 110 years. Razz

After much deliberation and comparing of diaries, The Rats, Steeba and I eventually found a weekend that we could all commit to completing the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, along with some caching in Bathurst (which was actually the scene of our first combined geocaching trip nine years ago!). A last minute trip overseas for me cropped up; but I arranged it so that I could fly home just in time to not miss out on this caching extravaganza.

Friday night we headed to Abercrombie River via Goulburn (from Wollongong), and camped at the campsite there. Saturday saw us drive the lower (Southern) half of 'The Road Less Traveled' Series, ending up in Bathurst right on dinner time. We then found some local caches before staying at a friend's house for the night. On Sunday we headed back out to Oberon for some more caches and then did a couple of loops around Bathurst. We had originally planned to stay Sunday night, but once we clicked over 300 finds for the weekend the inspiration started to wane, and we all agreed to turn our heads for home.

Cheers

27-Nov-16
Nothing beats a "road trip". My find count had been suffering from the "rest of life" getting in the way of caching so along with Steeba and Hoojar a plan was hatched to go "beyond the Great Divide". The 2nd half of the TRLT looked to be the obvious solution. Under perfect skies and with gps loaded we hit the dirt roads.

Day 2 of our caching trip and we were out on the roads again. We headed to Oberon and some of the back roads around Bathurst before getting a few more caches in Bathurst. By days end we’d put a good dint in our "beyond the Great Divide" so decided to head for home. Thanks to all the CO’s of the caches we found along the way. Apologises for the template style log but with 300 finds for the weekend each container begins to look the same.

The Rats, Hoojar and myself made for the wider Bathurst area for a weekend finding some of TRLT series of caches.

The whole area was quite green and recent rains had meant the grass had exploded everywhere and was 3 or 4 foot high around many of the caches.

Not only did we find plenty of TRLT, there were many 'History of' caches found amongst others. Thanks to all the hiders. TFTC!

Wilbert67 and us have been planning an over night trip to Bathurst and pre solved many puzzles in preparation, we also picked up quite a few others along the way. We left early in the morning and we were hoping for better weather in light of all the rain we been having and good weather we had. We had an enjoyable day with only 4 DNF out of approximately 43. A big thanks to all the CO for making our trip enjoyable. TFTC.

On A weekender with J+J.AU, Goulburn, Oberon, Bathurst, Lithgow and back is our goal. Solved lots of puzzles as a preparation for this trip and happy to collect in on a lot of them. More eyes makes easier caching. Started with some fog and cold on Saturday morning, but the weather got better and better. Thanks for putting out all the caches!

Finalf29 had a TAFE excursion to the Mayfield Gardens, so I came along to do a bit of caching as well. The weather was beautiful, the gardens were wonderful and the company fantastic. We spent too long at the gardens so only got thirteen before it got dark. We will definitely be back up this way again.

This was our third for the day. We only had a few hours until the sun set so madly rushed around Oberon finding what we could. Ok I think Finalf29 ended up driving on every bit of road here. We got to see the whole place by car. Pulled up right near GZ. I love these history puzzles. Thanks

14-May-16
Happy Uke and I attended a TAFE excursion to the NSW country town of Oberon. We visited the Mayfield Gardens which I can recommend to any garden enthusiast as being well worthwhile. The gardens are a work in progress and cover several acres.

We got this one on the way from the gardens coming into Oberon.

Thanks!

An easy find, bit of a widow-maker this spot, lots of big bits of tree on the ground. This was our last cache in Oberon left to do, and the general area.
