On the way back to the accommodation after a long day on the (unsealed) road. Parked down the way a bit and walked back up to soon find the log and sign in. No container here but all ghood in it's host.

Day 2 and a trip up to the top was what we had planned. We covered plenty of kms, some 'interesting' driving along unsealed roads, high towering ups and seaside downs - nice. Just a dozen caches but all were good and enjoyed.

Our last visit to the Coromandel was over 12 years ago so it was good to be back in the area after all of that time. We had spent Christmas away in Northland, and a quiet New Year at home before a 4 day/3 night stay in Coromandel town. We explored up the West of the peninsula up to Fletchers Camp, through the middle and across to the East coast of Whitianga and Whangamata, before heading back home 'via' Waihi Beach, where sadly that lady was killed by a shark whilst swimming, RIP. We found all available TMGT options, a few Earthcaches and saw some great sites and sights. Thanks to all COs for their caches here. We didn't do nearly as many as the Seagnoid and TB dragon whose steps we followed in on some days.

Just had to come check out the view here. Left our calling card Cheers.

Day 4 - Monday 21 December -Paritu Bay to Port Charles, Stony Bay, Colville, Coromandel and back to Paritu Bay. So lets get rolling.

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs, 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk and lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Arrived here from Waikawau Bay Campground. Did not see any view as overcast in Cormandel today and clouds are very low. Maybe next time Smile No container here just solid plastic bag and logbook inside. TFTC!

While searching the area for unfound caches, I discovered that this is one I'd found 4 years earlier with Philip Perry. Luckily I found his log, so log back dated as appropriate.

Day two and TEAM BOP has disbanded leaving TNXPro and myself to our own devices. I really wanted to sort Coromandels West coast so we left Tairua and took the Tapu-Coroglen Road in search of the ever elusive - geocaches.

This was another strange one. No container and what remained was certainly looking worse for wear. We replaced the bag and the log here to keep this one going but I have no idea how it was originally hidden. We replaced as found, chest height. Cheers Boges, TFTC Smile

Today was the day to perform a first test to our rental Ford Ranger, a bit of gravel road driving. Quickly found out, that this SUV suits better to that road than a CamperVan (one stuck some hundred meters after the tarmac ended). Nice view, cache quickly found. TFTC

Today we hired bikes at Bush-e-bikes to cicle a nice track through bush and farmland towards Colville and along the coast back to Coromandel city. Of course we had to add some smiley faces to the geo-map, in which we pretty much succeded, all caches were found easily. Thanks to all CO's for hiding and maintaining them!

There is a Geocache on top of the lookout, but it's not marked in the map. So I'm not sure if it is the same one. However, the box inside and so the logbook are wet.

A group of us were heading up to Port Jackson for a bit of a gathering so in the company of Alpenmilch80, HKCB & 11HPG11 this was our stop on the way to Port Charles with an aim at some truly memorable caches and lots of laughs. All Logs signed as "HOAC" to save on space

I ended the weekend with a total of 50 caches, a FTF, and approx 10 years of lonely caches (predominantly all located above Coromandel township). A 600km round trip and back home in 42 hours, so not a bad little haul, of course remembering that the first casualty of a well laid plan is "The Plan". We also located a great number of caches that had supposedly been DNF'ed over the last several visits, so that is always a bonus and a great thing to be able to let the various CO's know.
Finally heading Home but a chance to grab just a couple more to finish the weekend off.

The rewards of the stunning views out were enough reward but the cache was the added bonus.
Thanks for brining us to this spot for without the cache we may have just passed on by.

Joined in on the fun with 11HPG11 and Cats&Dragons on a overnighter at Port Jackson. Kiwis69 also joined the crew on the Saturday to find a few caches. The whole weekend was a blast, and a lot of fun was had. The logs were all signed as "HOAC" to save space on the logbook.

Over the two days we ended up have a whirlwind tour of the upper half of the Coromandel, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip. A big thanks to all the CO's for being our tour guide/s over the weekend. A truly unforgettable trip.

On the way home now, but not before we find the last few caches up this way. What an awesome view!!

Homeward bound now from Port Jackson after some storms cut our camping short. Home via a few caches of course. Our group today consisted of HKCB, Cats&Dragons, and myself

All up we had a whirlwind tour of the Coromandel and saw some amazing sights. Plus a few boxes here and there of course. It was interesting to see how the storm and king tides had changed certain spots and we were treated to some spectacular thunder storms rolling in from Great Barrier. The camping was an experience, wet, full of laughs, and a great time. Thanks to the cache owners for showing us round the Coromandel and giving us a reason to get out and about.

A spectacular view alright! The setting sun just made it all the more perfect. Thanks for bringing us up here and showing us this little lookout. Now here's hoping our brakes handle the trip back down!

Day 2 -We had planned a big weekend with 6 of us travelling the Coromandel area and logging caches as team BOP. Found many great spots, several caches we replaced wet log sheets and others missing for some time. Lots of km's travelled on tarseal, gravel and some not so good roads. Lots of rained showers seemed to plague us on the first day. SLTFTC

Found as part of Team BOP what an action packed weekend we had on the Coromandel. Starting at 5am in Rotorua and finishing well into the night on Saturday staying the night at the Holiday park then we were up early and away again finishing back in Rotorua at about 1030pm.
Thanks for all the caches.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, NZFlossy, TNXPro, and Philip.Perry… This is the first time we have cached overnight together. What an adventure… We group signed as Team BOP for efficiency and expediency.

We visited so many beautiful and remote locations on the Coromandel Peninsula. Many of these areas deserved to be hosts to caches. However, we encountered several that needed owner maintenance. Wet logbooks seemed to be far too common (We’ve had a lot of rain). Oftentimes, a sodden logbook was stuffed back into the container with a new, bagged logbook alongside (What's up with that?). And then there were some caches that were quite obviously missing (and have been for a while)… Nevertheless, a huge thank you to all of the COs for bringing us to these amazing places… We are determined to return and explore some more.

There were a lot of cars on the road this morning... A quick find on this one, though the view wasn't as impressive at ground zone because of the treeline. TFTC.

Cache number 3462 and day 93 of my current streak. After spending a night in Paeroa I came up for the CITO and to gather a few caches. The road to GZ has been affected by the recent storms and I was glad there was little traffic about. Once at GZ the cache was quickly found and signed. Then it was back down the hill. Thank you for the placement.

We could not understand why this cache was not a smilee face on our map. So up we went to take in the view. It turns out it was "Again". On inspection of the log we found we had signed it on 14 March 2016, but not logged it. DOH!

The view is still worth coming up the hill. On we went to Stoney Bay to collect some of the new DOC caches.

Thanks Boges.
