Today we had special caches on our agenda. We were able to see and learn a lot about the area through some "old" caches and also through very interesting earth caches. The landscape is simply amazing and cockatoos accompany us on our trips and hikes. It is a wonderful park. The area ist great and we like it very much. The answers was sent. Many thanks and greetings from the Moorhelmi

Have been coming here for many years when riding along the Yarra trail - on foot today, and a nice different place for a morning stroll. Thanks for the geology lesson while I was out!

26-Aug-24
Decided to make the most of the nice weather before being cooped up at work and with a new aim to collect enough points to complete the Cosmic Quest I planned a short walk in the area to pick up a few caches. I quickly located the necessary answers and have sent to the cache owner. I then took a moment to enjoy the sound of the birds and running water, before carrying on my walk. Thanks The Coffee's

Nice walk along here to the Boathouse, and had a good discussion with my companions about the angle of the strike dip. Three ex-maths / science teachers finally agreed, and answers have been sent. The Falls are blocked off at the moment but the sign is still accessible. Thanks The Coffee's for this EC.

We visited Dights Falls recently on a trip to Melbourne- what a delightful spot so close to the city. My favourite type of AdLab interesting lesson, simple questions (with answers readily available) and spectacular geology which I probably would have missed (focussed on the water instead), Answers sent and a FP added.TFTC The Coffees

TwoEms gave ourselves a headache reading through EarthCaches until we eventually came to find this gem. What a pleasant read and an interesting spot long forgotten on a school excursion some few decades ago. We thoroughly enjoyed the geology lesson, the excitement of Brachipods, the arguments over geometry, and the imaginary kangaroo too. Curious things are going on for the little fishies here and we will come back to visit them again soon. Thank you for the cache.

**Happy International Earthcache Day Weekend!**With it being International Earthcache Day Weekend and a souvenir up for grabs I knew I had to get out to find at least one earthcache this weekend. The thing I love about caching is the interesting stories, the extra interest and attention you take when traveling, the sight-seeing, the history, the interests of the individual COs, *the fantastic photo opportunities* and sometimes finding places that even some locals dont know about. I, like most cachers, look for more that a mint tin or a container under a bush. I appreciate the time that most COs take to construct a cache and write up a comprehensive listing and to create an interesting cache. **I love traveling this big land of ours.** I love taking the roads less traveled. I love the diversity of the land, the different scenes in the different seasons, the fresh air, the open plains, the lofty vistas and the magnificent waters. I even enjoy the longer scenic walks although I'm not as young and as fit as I used to be.Wink I love the different coffee shops I find. I enjoy the times I cache with others but I usually cache on my own. I always enjoy Earthcaches (whilst I'm not a geologist) as they usually take me to interesting places and teach me fascinating things and this one was no exception. It was great to see the CO at the recent Mega in Canberra and whilst I hadn't received an 'approval to log', it was clarified as the CO was having issues and was given approval to log. Big GrinThank you The Coffee's for highlighting this area and for adding this cache to my real-life treasure hunt. Appreciate your efforts. Big Grin - P**Warning**, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to learning new things and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Big GrinCache on! Cool**#18489**

Visited with SJG66, I lived up the road from here for the first 18 years of my life. Back then (read late 70's) this place was a bit of a dump. Good to see it has been cleaned up. TFTC.

Needed an earth cache for today's mission of as many different cache types as possible. This was the final of nine types I got for the day.
I've been to falls many as it's in my local area. Not flowing as fast as last time I was here but still a top spot none the less.

05-Apr-23
Nice spot. I used to regularly walk across the dam well with my beautiful German Shepherd friend Hannah. She’s resting in the garden now:David R

Been here a couple of times to gaze at the falls, river and cliffs while collecting other caches in the area.
Today was cool & damp…. Not so much about a week ago when it was hot enough for a sizeable tiger to wander across the path on the bend
(Cycled quickly onwards)
Perfect cache for this spot. Will be even better once the viewing platform upgrade is finished.
Thanks to The Coffees for this one. A fav

Today I had a tour around Melbourn.

Here I got a local guide who told me the history of the falls, and CO had to kick me in the right direction. Great place.

Thanks for the cache

Visited the falls during SES’s exercise on water. Unbelievable how old these rocks are…

13-Jan-23
How many times have I been here and not bothered with the earthcache? I come down here often from work for a lunchtime bike ride. Today a quiet one in January with many people away. Always a great spot. 2 months ago I came here and it was a raging torrent with flood waters. Back to normal today. Thanks for bringing me here once more.

Pending, answers sent through the messaging function.

Before geocaching, I not only used to run and cycle, and I also spent a lot of time in Melbourne. Hence I’ve been past this spot many times, but I’ve never seen the Yarra in flow like it is today, and so especially pleased to have been lured back by this Earthcache today. Thanks to The Coffee’s.

Nice idea. Great way for kids to learn

Lovely day to visit the fals, water was raging after the recent rains.
Thank you

08-Oct-22
With a love of Earth Caches and a souvenir on offer, I couldn't resist going looking for one this weekend... and with a desire to finish off placing a new Virtual cache in the CBD, it wasn't surprising that I found myself at Dights Falls. With all the recent rain, the Yarra was flowing in full fury... much to the delight of kayakers! Most amazing was to see them sitting stationary in the middle of the torrent without paddling when they were able find a neutral spot in amongst all the turbulence.

Thanks to **The Coffee's** for this Earth cache.

My answers have been submitted.

20-Sep-22
Great cache

10-Sep-22
Went for a walk along the Yarra with my friends, gathered the clues for this at the same time.

I'm never in this neck of the woods so after getting some amazing pastries nearby, we came down here to eat them. I always take the opportunity to do an earthcache when I can. I was pretty rubbish at estimating the angle of the dip! Let's hope my answer passes muster. . .

11-Aug-22
It was an early start to the day catching the 8.00 am ferry from Queenscliff to Sorrento. Mrs Dromaniax had a lecture to attend and we were picking some items up from the Swedish build-your-own furniture store. Mr Dromaniax was also wanting to complete the research for the Virtual Cache we will be releasing into the wild soon.

So a number of caches were targeted over the day to get us closer to several of our goals.

The ferry trip was nice and cruisy as the crossing was quite smooth, almost glassy.

Mrs Dromaniax used to live in nearby Lulie Street and regularly walk her big beautiful girl Maya along this area.

It was lovely to visit and take a trip down memory lane.

Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into creating and maintaining this Earthcache.

14-Jul-22
found this while on holiday in Melbourne with rick-a-mortis. answers were submitted and permission given from CO

thank you for bringing us here to see these falls

Thank you for the tour of these falls and brining is here so close to town

08-Jun-22
Had the day off as I had a couple of appoitments on for the day so i was able to squeeze a few caches in between those 2 times.
They were going to be on either side of the city so thank goodness for google maps as i had no idea where i was going.
I had to head down the Princess Fwy towards Geelong and Werribee first then it was back through town and out to Kew
So after a quick stop at the airport I was back on track and getting closer to Kew.
It has been awhile since I was here and I think the last time was on bikes with my son and his then girlfriend back then.
It was nice and cold around here today and there was plenty of water flowing over the wall after all of the recent rain.
The old mill site has been fenced off so hopefully they will carry out a bit of restoration work on it.
Answers sent to the CO.

Thanks The Coffee’s TFTC.

Stopped by the falls as I was riding the Capitol City Trail. Defiantly a nice section of the trail through here.
Answers supplied to the CO, thanks for geology lesson and a nice spot to stop!

Thanks to The Coffee's for this great earth cache.

24-Feb-22
Out and about at a stupid time in the morning because I can't sleep. Maybe it's because I had to travel up to Melb late last night from Geelong or maybe I'm stressing a little about a presentation I have to do in a few hours.

I really love the cultural significance of the area and was very happy to hear it's still being used as a meeting spot.

Thanks for the history lesson this morning Smile

Found by Mary and David at 12:26. Here today checking on access to our Dights Light cache. It's still fenced off. Missed this one last time we were here, so made sure we stopped by today. The fish ladder is interesting, as well as the geology opposite. Kudos! Our thanks to The Coffee's.

Very pleasant weather to visit here today. Answers messaged to CO.
I haven't been here since the event preceding one of the Yarra Explorations a few years back. We were on bikes at that stage, moving to kayaks when the trails ran out.

TFTC! We have been here a number of times and enjoy our walk along here. It’s peaceful listening to the water flowing! Answers have been messaging to the CO.

lesson learnt:
you can’t take a freeway exit that doesn’t exist

we did not plan to come here
but when the trap street disappears like a mirage before your very eyes, and you don’t think your little hatchback could handle the rough sapling-strewn incline up to burke road
you improvise
you adapt
and you reroute to dights falls

and we were not alone
the footpaths were full of passers-by and the river was full of kayaks weaving up- and downriver who i’m sure all considered tackling the no-existent exit with their soft-bottomed soles or hard-bottomed kayaks but likewise deflected here for smoother safer flatter travels

a lovely spot and a fine earthcache
thanks for the incentive to divert here

The falls were not quite what I was expecting and it was surprising to see the gushing water quickly churning through here. I visited a few weeks before and people were having kayak obstacle challenges through the rapids!

Thanks for pointing out this location.

A terrific site on the Yarra and river in minor flood so huge water pouring over the weir!!

The falls were going quite impressively today. Thank you for the Earth cache!

Found together with emandel on this beautiful day. The falls were at full blast after the recent rains. Pretty impressive.

04-Jul-21
What a great location for an EarthCache. Steve & I had never heard of Dights Falls and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at GZ. The falls reminded me of a giant chocolate fountain the way it was gushing over the rocks, and we spent a fair amount of time taking photos and soaking in the scenery.

Back to the EarthCache, and thankfully we didn’t need a degree in Geology to be able to work out the answers. Logging with permission from the lovely CO.

Thanks so much The Coffee’s for bringing us to this great spot. I wonder if there’s an ice cream truck nearby?

10-May-21
I'm generally not very good at Earthcaches. I always confuse the main rock groups.
But in this cache that's not an issue.
Thanks for the cache.

Made it to one of our favourite spots on our Anzac Sunday morning wander. The sound of crashing water is so calming. The cliff face is so stark and exposed. Beautiful on a sunny morning.

#1929 - 6.15pm
Good Friday was spent with Heymissjo as we took the opportunity to avoid the regular city crowds and find some usually muggle infested caches.
The heat of the afternoon had thankfully eased off and having found the nearby maccamob cache for a Jasmer square, it was natural that we made our way over to the Falls for this Earthcache.
We couldn't resist a selfie or two, but then it seems to be something every man and his dog do here, lol.
Thanks to The Coffees for bringing us to this lovely inner city location, and for teaching us a little of the geology here.

With most of the heat of the day gone, it was quite pleasant to standby and study this location. Was in area collecting a nearby cache for an Ausmer challenge with The Welder. I had no idea that this was even here! A nice location. Thanks for sharing!

*Found on the 14 Mar 2021 @ 12:17 pm.*
*Cache find # 11503.*

Now this is what all Earthcaches should be like, an informational board that you can learn form and get the correct answers to the questions asked not like some that ask for answers to questions that have no definite answer or ask for colours which is great when your colour blind.
This is an interesting area that I haven’t seen in the daylight before.
Answers were gathered and will be sent soon.

**Thanks to The Coffee's for creating this Earthcache.**

Visited Dight's Falls Earthcache today prior to kayaking the Yarra to Princes Bridge. Loved the river and the new perspective it brings to this part of the City.
Thanks for adding to our journey.

A lovely spot to sit after walking our sons dog. Very busy here today but enjoyed the area and the cache thank you for all your effort . Enjoy these earth caches as always something to learn tftc

07-Dec-20
Probably not a great idea to gaze at an earthcache in a hailstorm.

But I’ve always been a bit silly and stubborn.

On the positive side, the falls were positively pumping this afternoon, thanks so much for my brief view at a place I’ve heard about but never visited. TFTC.

A very lovely spot to spend some time. A surprisingly small number of people around today. Answers sent to CO. TFTC

Out and about with echidna44 enjoying the waters of the Yarra. Its a real pace today and lots of people here to enjoy it. Answers submitted. Thanks The Cofffees

Logging with the kind permission of The Coffee's....actually after much interrogation from Mr Coffee at the 2019 Victorian COTY - Announcement of nominees event earlier this year when we could hold events in Victoria. I had sent emails with my answers a couple of times but received no response. Mr Coffee said they had been having problems with emails at that time.

Anyhoo, being International Earthcache Day 2020 it reminded me that it was about time that I logged this Earthcache. I remember having a lovely lunch at the nearby Abbotsford Convent and then decided to take the geobeagles for walkies and visit the amazing Dights Falls. We took several photos, including the accompanying photo of me with my GPSr at the falls lookout, and then found the answers to the questions.

Thanks The Coffee's for this awesome Earthcache and for bringing us to such a picturesque location. The geobeagles enjoyed smelling everything as we walked along the many trails.

10-Oct-20
Answers have been forwarded to the CO for checking. With family nearby I took the opportunity to check this one out. A lovely place to stop and rest.
Thanks for this one today The Coffee's

10-Oct-20
We visited this site many moons ago and gathered the required information. I don’t know why we didn’t log them but I’ve found a number of caches in our GSAK database that need logging.
Being International Earthcache day and having not cached for over 3 months, I admit that I am logging this from the vicinity of my armchair. Shameful

Thanks Ian for the cache and the earth lesson

29-Sep-20
So many people out and about waking their dogs, doing exercise. Beautiful spot.

The info about the fishway was cool - if people don’t read it they don’t know to look between the grating and see the design of the fishway and the flow of the water. Thanks!

01-Sep-20
Catching up on some old logs and finally submitted my response on this one to the CO about a week or so ago. This area had been under construction for some time due to the replacement of the weir wall. It seems like this replacement had been going on for many years but hopefully is now complete and the fish are enjoying being able to migrate upstream in the new the new fishway that was to be built.

Thanks for the cache.

Thanks The Coffee's.
This is such a relaxing and beautiful part of Melbourne.
The water was flowing quick after a little rain and I saw a paddler getting their gear ready to test out the water.
Stay safe all

14-Feb-20
Enjoyed this cache! An amazing site to stop and look!

12-Jan-20
A while since I have been down this way so it was great to come by again today. I found nearby caches in 2015 so before this earth cache had been set up. I managed to plan a route form the train station tot he cricket oval where I was headed this afternoon and come right past here. A very pleasant spot it is too and despite some temporary construction fencing I was still able to reach the areas that I needed. Info collected (though I'm never too confident on strike and dip!) and I was back on my way to hit the winning run in today's cricket match. Answers have been sent off to the CO so in anticipation of approval I'm logging a find here. THanks for setting up this earth cache in a great location The Coffee's.

27-Dec-19
A quick trip across to Melton for an event and I brought up some select caches to try along the way.

A spot I have been to many many times as in the early years I enjoyed hiking along the Merri Creek trail. Finally, after all these years of caching I have got the chance to get back here and have a go at this earthcache.

TFTC, answers approved by the CO.

Thanks to the Coffee’s for the Earth Cache. Had a reason to be close by. I love the water flow here. Thanks for helping us understand the geology more. Some fencing here but Gz still accessible. Answers sent

Collected the info here with Eudes while on an urban bushwalk with the AWG group. The barricades don't help but it's still a site worth visiting. Apologies for the late log.
thanks to The Coffee's for this earthcache

08-Dec-19
This was our first caching stop while on today's walk around this area. Unfortunately, there are a few barricades set up for, presumably, works at the location but thankfully the info board is still accessible. Big Grin Despite the barricades, it's still a nice spot to check out and we gathered the required info at 11:35 before heading on our way.

Also, our geocaching licence geocoin had a visit to mark our first Victorian cache of December 2019. Big Grin

Thanks The Coffee's.

My brother who enjoys geocaching with me but doesn't have a geocaching account is currently visiting Melbourne. When he first mentioned his trip to me he said"maybe I can get some caches for you while I'm there". As he doesn't have an account or the app on his phone or even a GPS I figured if he was going to be able to "find" any caches for me it would be best to chose virtuals or earth caches.

Another area he really enjoyed during his vacation in Australia and if it wasn't for me showing him where geocaching earthcaches and virtuals were he would never have visited this area. Thanks for the Earth Cache... answers will be sent.

Visited the falls yesterday, what a beautiful area! Answers are submitted.

Thanks for this cache it was good to come here today as it was a wet (miserable) Monday morning but that meant that after recent rains the river was flowing realy well.
