We needed a day out of the house and this was the adventure we chose. The signage states medium steep but I think very steep is more accurate Once at the top the view was worth it Thanks for the EC.
14:24on this day we moved from wollongong to ulladulla. we started a day with a short walk around lighthouses in wollongong, then moved to minnamurra rainforest and in the end we visited cave beach where we met our first kangaroos during this trip!really nice walk up there! thanks!
Visiting this location brought back so many beautiful memories.Having grown up in the Sutherland Shire, we made many trips South to this beautiful area as children . Aside from Christmas time, the roads never seemed too bad for us to head southwell, that is our recollection. In those times, Minnamurra Falls was a wild and exotic location. We had barbecues, lunches and walks. We swam at the bottom of the waterfall. We encountered stinging nettle for the first time. These days it all looks quite different, but just as beautiful. It was a great opportunity for us to revisit the location and look at it with different eyes. We have sent our answers to the CO and say thanks to Hoojar, Chip and Juno for our adventure. Thank you!Domsky
Find #: 3,475Companions: Geokids 19 + 16Muggles: A fewWeather: Windy summer morningThe weather was a bit ordinary (windy and cool), so we decided to go exploring, and the Rainforest Walk looked ideal. We had a bit of a time budget so kept a good pace, although we actually had plenty of time to get to the Falls and back (guess the times are conservative). We loved both falls, and found the gorge particularly interesting. Thanks for creating this EC to celebrate this area.
Thanks Hoojar for an intriguing cache. Haven't been to Minnamurra since primary school but it was an enjoyable challenge
What a wonderful day! Loved reading all the information posts on the way through. The little blue markers (meters to waterfall) also kept my kids entertained! Thankyou!
A lovely spot, interesting information. We wish we could swim in the water today because it was quite warm. TFTC
It was a beautiful morning up at Minnamurra Rainforest today under the dense canopy of the trees.
Thanks for the Earthcache Hoojar, Chip & Juno. Found it very educational and enjoyable.

Remember coming here as a kid and still have the drawing of the waterfall from back then. Still looks similar but the fencing sure has changed and oh what a lovely walkway they have placed since. Nice to bring the geotribe here today. Hopefully will create memories for the little ones as good as mine are. We had a great walk spotting 2x scary looking caterpillars, 3 x lyrebirds and multiple smaller birds ??. The falls were sensational as usual while the cascades were serene - not too many people here in the afternoon.
Thanks Hoojar. FP for the memories and of course the stunning location. I love that there is a virtual here now as well which is equally as FP worthy - serene and easy compared to this one, but now you really need to do both the hill and the cascades section.

Found while staying in kiama downs for a friends birthday weekend and came out here as a group for a walk. Had been once begot with the family but don't think I geocached then. Thanks for the info very insightful.
Next leg of our holiday is in Sydney for Christmas but I was keen to visit Minnamurra as it is such a beautiful place. Have been visiting here for a long time (when I was a kid the walk went to the bottom of the bottom falls and you could swim in the canyon) and about 37 years ago I did work experience here when it was still run by Kiama council.
So today we did the walk - saw an echidna and the obligatory lyrebirds. Weather was not sunny enough for many butterflies or dragonflies but meant it was a pleasant walk. Got the kids to the falls and sent the answers. Astounded nearly a year since logged - the walk isn’t that hard.

I have been going up and down the Minnamurra Falls walk since I was a kid but it was only last year I discovered gc and was happy to complete the cache!
TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. A most enjoyable area after the rains.
Visiting my adult children living in the area this week. Decided to go for a walk to Minnamurra Falls today. Also drove up the mountain to check out what the Illawarra Fly and walk was all about ($$$!). I had a great day and found a few caches along the way.

Looking for an easy walk today with the kids, and an excuse to stop for Lebanese food on the way home, we came down to Minamurra. The walk was somewhat steeper than expected!!

After weeks following the coast line from Melbourne to Sydney my family granted my wish to go inland for some green and hills. So we stopped by at Minnamussa Falls for some power walk (me) and strolling (family).
We enjoyed the falls even when they weren't carrying much water.
I hope the answers I sent were at least partially correct.
Many thanks for this earth cache.
Best regards,
CrankyGerman

Enjoyed the beautiful rainforest walk and to stop on the way to read up on the plaques on the neighbouring vegetation on trees and other natruel inhabitants.
Once at the waypoints I began to answer the questions on the cache as I could only get reception there.

The waterfall lookout is closed and we also came pretty late at 3pm so only did the loop walk today.
Maybe another time when the lookout is open and we have a bit more time on hand!

We visited Minnamurra slot Gorge, a lovely walk, if a bit taxing, and great views. And a terrific location for an earthcache. Amazing looking down at the slot gorge - it would be even better with heaps of water flowing as it was a bit dry on our visit.
Thanks Hoojar, Chip & Juno

Pretty easy one this as I was a NPWS guide here not so long back and took groups including schools and uni students on tours through the rainforest and to the falls explaining all the significant aspects along the way.
I reckon I could walk up here blindfolded.

After a big day yesterday I was still determined to get outdoors today. The journey today comprised of Barren Ground, Minnamurra, Kiama, Bombo, Shellharbour, and Albion Park. I managed to find 7 caches today (~20% of the remaining caches in my 50km radius). Now that most of the remaining caches are now decent bushwalks, I calculate I've walked 40km in the last 2 days!! Thanks to all the Cache Owners for the caches I found today.
Third of the day. It's been close to 10 years since I walked this track, so it was nice to get out and enjoy this area. It was just as steep as I remember it! Once at the Lower Minnamurra Falls lookout, I made my observations and collected some information. Unfortunately the Upper Minnamurra Falls lookout is still closed to the public. The walk out was much faster than the walk in. Thanks Hoojar!

Visited today. Amazed at the length of the boardwalks, the beautiful ferns, bird life, rushing waters, swing bridges & quietness. Spoke to several fellow walkers as we trudged up. Gathered the info, took several photos, sent email. Good for the heart & soul. Thanks for the opportunity of a good walk & the Earthcache.
What a magnificent park. Loved the board walks and the entire surrounds. The uphill bit was good exercise, loved it all. TFTC
Found with nissan 65 on a cool winters day. Saw quite a few lyre birds todays. We will have to come back again but not during school holidays. Way too many screaming kids here for me. Beautiful place. Thankyou for the cache
With the geowife and friends (fellow geocachers). Unfortunately the upper falls was closed off. The path has changed since coming here in High School.
#300 so we wanted to do something special and this walk and views were great.

We have travelled down from Sydney to Kiama for the April school holidays, camping for a week at Kendells on the Beach Holiday Park in our Jayco Swan Outback camper trailer. Today we headed up to Saddleback Mountain for a solved multi-cache and a couple of Traditionals, then it was on to the Minnamurra Rainforest for an EarthCache and a Traditional. And the return journey had us stopping at Jerrara Dam for a couple of Traditionals. This was the 5th of 8 finds for the day, and the 30th find for the holiday.
After finding a few caches up on Saddleback Mountain we drove down to Jamberoo township for a look around, then it was up to the Minnamurra Rainforest for a visit. Stopped at the entry gates for the "Traditional" cache of the same name, then proceeded on to the ticket point then into the carpark.
Sat down at the kiosk for a delicious lunch before heading off in pursuit of the EarthCache. We had been warned on entry, and noticed the large signage at the entrance, that there was currently no access to the "upper falls". At that stage we weren't sure if that would impact the EarthCache, but we would soon find out, and we headed off up the pathway enjoying the rainforest experience as we went. Crossed over many bridges, some with plenty of sway, until we reached a junction. Took the left branch up toward the falls, and the cache, and it was a relatively steep climb until we reached WP1.
At WP1 we had a good view down into the slot gorge. After having a good look we answered the required question and then set the GPSr to navigate to WP2, which is when we realised that WP2 was in fact the "upper falls" which was currently closed to the public. A barrier and sign had been erected across the track, and there was no way of just "ducking around it" for a quick look & photo. So it was back to WP1 where we took a group photo, with our GPSr and the slot gorge all in shot, as a substitute for the unobtainable WP2 photo, and also answered the WP2 question as best we could.
And then we set off for the return journey, back down the steepish track to the junction, but this time making a left turn and returning to the visitors centre via the remainder of the loop track. A very enjoyable walk indeed.
Thanks Hoojar Chip & Juno for a pleasant walk through the rainforest, and for the EarthCache. Our answers to the questions, and our group photo, have been sent for CO approval.

A birthday treat to the rainforest for the geo-kids and an earthcache as a bonus.
We love earthcaches because they are always somewhere "special" and this one is no exception. Unfortunately access to the upper falls is still blocked so we are locking with permission.
Many thanks to Hoojar etc for the cache and greetings from sunny Serre Chevalier in the French Alps.
FP for sure.

Came for a walk with the Rats. One of us had been here on a school excursion so it was nice to come back with the family.
Dad collected all the required info and explained why this was here and that was there! Unfortunately we couldn't get right up to the pool. Logged with permission.
Thanks for the EC

With a couple of hours to spare I took the kids for a drive into the rainforest. The last time I was here was as a tag=along parent on a school excursion with one of the kids.
The park seems to be going through a bit of restoration/construction work at the moment and on a number of occasions we had to walk on makeshift dirt paths. With recent rains the river was flowing well and it reminded me of the fun time we had canyoning through the upper reaches of this area.
We managed to collect most of the info before construction work turned us away. Answers have been sent to the CO. As with previous visits it great to return here and enjoy the NP.
Thanks

I arrived a little later then recommended at the info centre and being now the only and last visitor the rangers were happy to let me still go on through.
The walk up to GZ was quite scenic and peaceful, with a heap of wildlife roaming around,if anyone every wants to see a Lyrebird this is definatly the place to come,I noticed few echindna scampering off too from around the trail and I tried to get a closer up pic of a cute little Rock wallaby but he was to quick for me.
The slot and falls was very impresive and today I had it all to myself ,theres a few no go zones at the moment due to maintenance so I missed the Section A of the walk.
I still had a great time strolling aroung through the forest,I will need to come back another time soon and complete the walk.
Cant beat a good forest walk, fav point!!
Answers set and logging after the all clear from CO

Found while on a hike with friends. Such beautiful views and a wonderful hike for anyone whose keen.
Found with friends on a lovely walk in the rainforest. So beautiful in the sunshine after all the rain we've had! TFTC
A very enjoyable place to visit! Did the walk many times already (always on the plan if we get overseas visitors). Also are very privileged to have gone through the hole Minnamurra canyon with some rangers (this would normally be illegal), but the only few hundred meters i have never been through is this actual slot canyon as it is nowadays deemed unstable and very unsafe to enter, better have a look from above.

We were the first ones here on a drizzly Sunday morning. The track is closed for repair in a few places. We went up to the top first. Mr Gaztek remembers coming here before National Parks took over. Back then the surfing boys would come here on hot days and swim in the water hole at the bottom of the slot gorge. We could see the old track down below. Really enjoyed our walk and a nice coffee and muffin at the cafe afterwards. Have sent responses to CO. TFTEC Cheers... Gaztek
Arrive here and plenty of car spaces available, as the day goes on it isn't the case, this is a very popular destination.
This walk I have done many time, bringing friend along ,but today it's a little different, I'm on a mission. The weather is very pleasant. There's plenty of animal activity here and constant improvement made. Once again a very enjoyable Earth Cache and a ]*FTF*]. Thanks Hoojar.

We enjoyed a visit down here today to learn with this new EarthCache. Everyone managed to make it to the top where we could view the action. I remember as a kid when you used to just walk up down the bottom of the slot- before the path we go on toay was built. Even been down the upper parts of the canyon a couple of times but never abseiled down the slot (which I'm sure you can't do anyway!). Anssers sent off. TFTEC!
