Hunted for a good 20mins and even had a guys driving past shout put "up and underneath" and no luck maybe next time
Assuming I was looking in the right spot (not too many places to hide on this) I couldn’t find it.
After pretending to look at the memorial in order avoid muggles we have the cache in hand.
Out caching with the kids after bmx event. So cold out tonight. Quickly located the cache and replaced before we saw a muggle
I've had a few finds on these guns before around the country but any obvious spot doesn't yield anything so I would say it has been muggled
We have both found and failed to find caches hidden in/on guns outside RSAs in a number of places. Despite the weapon in this case being considerably smaller, and less complex than others we have encountered, and despite previous finders indicating it was easy to find, we couldn't find it today.
Bit of a cheat as I saw a couple hanging around the site & wondered what they were up to. Check Geocache & sure enough.

Nice and quick find - had to be stealth though as there were muggles around. Tftc
My dad was a member here as he fought at El Alamein in WWII. Very very quick dash and grab. Have attended many ANZAC day services here in my hometown. Tftc
I wrongly guessed a different type of container would be hidden here so I was glad the cache was much easier to track down than it could have been.
Found on a weekend trip from Wellington to attend a wedding in Patea.
Nice quick find in the only obvious place. Had to wait for the shuttle bus to disappear before replacing after signing.

This year me and RobLigtenberg were lucky enough to spend almost 2 months in New-Zealand on a great holiday. We explored both islands and just like everyone else we loved it. Apart from all the major attractions (roturua, tongariro, abel tasman, the glaciers, the fjords and so much more) we also tried to do some caches in order to discover even more of the country. Today we visited Mt. Taranaki and afterwards we drove to a camping in Hawera. During our evening through the park and town centre we looked for some caches. This one was quickly found.

During our nearly two month holiday in New Zealand we spend time on both the northern and southern island. Both islands happened to be very beautiful, each in its own way. Together with Ninagustein we searched for many caches, as we think it is a great way of discovering the country. Numerous caches get you to places you otherwise wouldn't have visited and it is also fun to find caches at touristic places. On this day we travelled around Mount Taranaki (including a short hike up to the vulcano). Once we arrived at the campsite in Hawera we did an evening walk through the town center. The memorial is a nice place and the cache at the cannon was a quick find.

Why didn't I find this earlier?? I am sure I hunted in that exact spot with no luck on our way up to New Plymouth for a mother in laws birthday. Today it was straight forward with no muggles around and it was quickly signed and replaced. Finally!!!!!!! Thank you for this cache and finally a smiley face on this elusive cache!
In Taranaki for the weekend and collecting a few caches along the way with tmann421.

Hubby just had to play with this, which made it easy for me to find and sign the cache, but being here early morning there were very few muggles around so that helped. Tftc
Out for a day of geocaching around Hawera. As today was World Sauntering Day - the day to take it easy; relax, go for a stroll and enjoy some valuable ‘me time’, a day which encourages you to slow down and enjoy the world around you. So no excuses, time to go strolling looking for geocaches. Turned out it was the day for it, found 23 out of 24 caches.
Saw the protector as I approached and as no one was about was about to have a good look which resulted in the cache being found - signed log and left as found. Thanks for the placement 2 Bulbars.

On a little geotrip around the mountain with JayDubENT, Casey2201 and AABrown29. I don't know how I missed it the first time! But Casey soon had it in hand. Very cool
Found with JayDubENT, AABrown29 and Riddick0163 on a round the mountain GeoTrip. Cool camouflage. Thanks

Found this when it was first placed but never logged it, easier to find than the last time. Log damp
We always have trouble with RSA caches- this one was a reasonably easy find in the dark. TFTC
We can't believe how difficult we made this find. We had to make three visits before we finally scored the smiley face. Happily, the third time was the charm, and we pretty much spotted the container as soon as we got to ground zero. We were sure we had searched the site thoroughly but sometimes these things go temporarily out of phase. Thanks for the cache.
Found with Spotonbob during a lunchtime walk . Thanks for the re hide it is always nice to see good caches kept up
Nice hide

had to have some very sharp eyes to find this wee container. Log signed as C and L.
I seem to have found a few similarly placed caches in various places - I wish I could remember where. This one had us scratching our heads for a while but then suddenly it divulged its hiding place. TFTC .
Was down in Wellington for a few days, and decided that I'd make an extra long weekend of it and transfer a rental car back to Auckland and cache along the way. Unfortunately for the rental agency that ment nearly tripling the km's they thought I'd put on it!
With the rental car company only giving me 48 hours to get the car to Auckland a little bit of planing was needed to maximise what I wanted to accomplish, and with only a few DNF's it turned out to be a very successful trip. So a big thanks to everyone who had placed caches along the way, and for showing me some great sight's along the way.
Day 2: Wanganui to Hawera and home via the Forgotten Highway.
All good here, thanks for the hide.

nice hide, used one of these in a past job, good to see again, meet up with a local from the rsa and had a good chat TFTC
Had walked here early in the morning so not much traffic around. Felt & looked everywhere before earning the smiley. TFTC
This cache was one of the many caches we found on our 6 day campervan journey from Tauranga to Lower Hutt via Waihi, Cambridge, New Plymouth and along the west coast to Wanganui and back to the Hutt. A mighty and enjoyable journey which took us to many great and iconic parts of the north island and of course some great geocaches. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to so many new places. Sorry about the generic log but 200 plus to log. TFTC
Another trip down to see the guys at STDC and whats this a cache 35m away, just have to investigate. Many thanks for the intresting cache site. Mission accomplished, this one is a wrap.TFTC! Blenheim Bear
