There wasnt a burial or service in progress but this is the busiest I have ever seen a cemetery (except all those times When Michael Jacksons Thriller gets played and the zombies start hitting the dance floor).Business must be booming because the bob-cat was digging a few new sites. There were staff organising a shade structure and seats, and about 5 people just cleaning up headstones like there was about to be a royal visit. On top of that there were two guys in cars doing slow laps of the grounds like they were looking for a sniper. We felt odd with all the activity going on but everyone was head down, bum up, going about their work. Surely they must know about the cache because it is there for all to see. Maybe the guys driving around were protecting it. tftc

Catching up on logs and noticed that we had not logged this cache. While visiting family north of Kingaroy we decided to call by and collect this multi. Knowing the CO personally made this cache a must do for Mrs Ambayu and I. A quick collection of the facts and we calculated the coords and found the cache. All good here. Thanks Net88.

9:25:00 AM. Stayed in town overnight and had a TB that we needed to drop as we had had it for too long. Saw this cache so drove out for it. Made it way harder than it is by not looking around better. Had my back to the cross and didn't see it until after I had walked the cemetery looking for it else where. The numbers came together easily and a short walk to the cache. Log signed and dropped TB.Thanks for the cache Net88

Found on a trip through Broken Hill, Tilpa, Bourke, Cunnamulla, Charleville, Tambo, Blackall and Barcaldine to attend the QOGM at Longreach, then to Emerald, Biloela, Monto, Gayndah and Kilcoy on my way to Brisbane for a few days before a return drive back to Adelaide. After staying t the Sports Grounds campsite at Goovinen overnight, today I made my way to Kilcoy, stopping off intermittently to search for caches enroute. Thanks for the cache!

Final GZ had me stepping back to check on a few things as the persons name on a nearby grave was familiar. Even the age was within range. With some relief I moved on to find the cache.

TFTC Net88 your cache Taabinga Cemetery - In Memoriam Ivy Bills that we found today. Enroute to QOGM 2023 in Longreach. A rather circuitous route via Kingaroy, Morven and Charleville. Caching as we go. Tonight we stopped at Wooroolin. Needed to head into Kingaroy for a couple of things. Found some more caches in the area.

Someone nameless (Bruce) called me yesterday and said something about points and a souvenir and getting my butt into gear He even told me my points’ score

I had an appointment in Kingaroy and so a handful of caches were logged

This was a simple multi that I managed to achieve before my back massage GZ was interesting in that it seems to be frequently visited A place to meditate, perhaps?

Love the handmade wooden memorial Such a nice thing to do.

Found whilst on a very non direct route to QOGM - Charleville 2022. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird (aka Mrs Geo, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird, Angry Bird & occasionally even Love Bird). It’s a great day for caching.

It was a pleasure wandering around this well maintained cemetery checking headstones and thinking of those who have passed on. A simple exercise gathering the information at Ivy’s grave then off to the specified location to sign the log. TFTC

It was moving day today as we traveled the short distance from Nanango to Kingaroy. The road was too bust to collect caches on the way so we headed straight to the showgrounds where we set up camp. Then it was off to collect as many caches as we could. Puzzles, multis and traditionals on a warm overcast day.

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Net88.

I really like these types of caches, does that make me morbid?? Such a gorgeous cemetery and a great view, we enjoyed wandering around while heading to get the required information. After an initial slight miscalculation a realistic set of coordinates was obtained and the cache was found in good condition. Favourite point given.

We are camped in Murgon helping out Blazeaid for a while. Pa and the team finished work on their allocated property today so we made a quick trip down to Kingaroy. This was one of the caches targeted to fill a specific challenge that I had set myself. Once I had the required information the cache was an easy find. As my hands are quite small Pa had to open the cache so that I could sign the log. After that it was a quick replace and onto the next one. TFTC TNLN

We had planned a road trip to Queensland to visit family in 2021, but our travel plans were stalled due to border closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now that the world was trying to get back to a semi normal state, we decided to have another go at getting away from the cold and head up north for some sunshine and warmth.

Day 13 - Staying in Nanango for a few days to catch up with family. We decided to go for a drive to Kingaroy to head to the peanut factory to later find out it is actually closed for tours. Damn Covid. But still liked checking out the place and picking up a few caches even visited the Peanut van when we had finished.

Quick multi here and while here there was a person playing the bagpipes which was pretty eerie as it was fairly quiet besides that.

All caches were found in good condition unless otherwise mentioned.
Thanks for the placement and keeping this hobby alive.

Stopping in Kingaroy for a couple of days as we bimble around before we head back to Ipswich.
Constant drizzly rain, causing wet vegetation and soggy ground underfoot made for an interesting days caching. We must GeoAddicts to be out hunting for caches in this weather. [:o)]

Found as I meander my way from Adelaide to Cairns.

With no real travel plan and three weeks to get there before I meet up with friends, there has been plenty of opportunity for sightseeing and finding a few selected caches along the way.

The required information was collected, final coordinates calculated, then it was a quick find at GZ just a short distance away.

Thanks Net88 for the cache.

Final hide for us to find tonight before heading back to the hotel for some R&R. Had a great day chasing down the new additions to the area and it was great to find one of the older ones to finish off the night. We were with Eskies5 who had made the FTF on this one, she had little recollection of where the final was and it was all made very clear why once we had calculated the numbers. The landscape had changed markedly and the hide surrounding GZ had been trimmed significantly. Container and all that were inside are in great condition. TFTC Net88

I love the story behind this cache. What a beautiful and well kept cemetery. We were able to quickly get the final coords and made our way to it. I lived in Kingaroy for 5 years and I never came to this cemetery to say good bye to anyone. However today I found a number of people I knew during the period. The cache is hidden near a person I knew, I actually coached his son one year in the Kingaroy Red Ants Under 15’s. RIP Tony and all the others that are here.

My youngest geodaughter and I were on our routine roadtrip to Ballogie today, to pick up her friend for the school holidays. We had checked in at our accommodation for the night and had time to fit in one more cache before dark. We chose to come and pay our respects to Ivy. We admired to the handiwork of the homemade cross and read through to answer the required questions. A short time later we were signing a log book. We are on our way to Blackall QOGM, our 6th stop on our trip is Nanango.
This morning we decided not to move to Kingaroy but instead took a day trip from Nanango.
Our main target was the dinosaur trail & a few others around town.
Very quite at the moment but looks like a service will be held here later in the day.

Found by Mary and David at 1035. A FP even before Mary climbed down from the GeoPrado. She loves cemeteries for the symbolism of the headstone designs, and the social history in the epitaphs. You could have left her here all day. So much to see - the Irish names, Celtic cross, shamrocks, and Irish Harp. Cases of "my cross is taller than yours" too. Not terribly old, but beautifully kept. Cache snug and dry. Thanks for bringing us here to meet Ivy. How lovely to have so many strangers who visit her and know her story. Our thanks to Net88.

Hi there Net88.

We have based ourselves in Nanango for a few days. We started off the day by selecting a cache that was near by, and then used a "Next Closest" route to complete our cache raid. Today's run was like a magical mystery tour, as we didn't know where we could have ended up. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area & ended up finding a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route.

We found 8 caches today & DNF'd 0. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels. Thanks also for not placing a mint tin or a 200ml Sistema here. It made us feel really good to find this "special" cache here.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

My wife, children and I made a day out of Geocaching around Kingaroy today. We had an awesome time.

This was a good fun one for the family. We felt we got to know Ivy and her family a little. I was 1yr old when she passed. After working out the answer to find the prize, we found the cache quite quickly. Thanks for the fun. We swapped out the finds.

This was a final cache find for the morning and we really did enjoy doing it. We have appreciated all the planning and implementation that has gone into this excellent cache. We found your notes very interesting and very informative and we thank you for sharing some of your family history with your fellow geocachers.
It was a very good multi and most interesting to do and we were pleased to find that your final GZ and ours turned out to be the same! Nice hiding spot too! We will give you a fav from us for your great multi cache. This is the 6th cemetery we have visited recently due to geocaching and this is the largest and so well maintained and presented. The one we visited yesterday had only one headstone even though quite a few people were buried there and that seemed so sad to us.

Well this turned out to be an interesting one. After losing my Garmin Oregon overboard at Lake Boondooma on Monday (ouch !!!!), we decided to use the phone to find this one. No problems getting to Ivys grave and answering the questions, but what to do with the newly calculated co-ordinates. Without our trusty GPSr, I decided to try Mr Google. So I put the co-ords into a search and got taken to Google Maps which indicated the approximate location of the final GZ. This gave me a pretty good idea of where to start looking, so I asked Google to take me there, and here's where it got a bit crazy. Mr Google wanted to take us on a 3.7km odyssey around the roads of Kingaroy to get less than 200 metres to GZ. No way !!! So off we went in the general direction, and with a bit of caching intuition we had the cache in hand.
Thanks Net88 for placing this cache in honour of your Great Grandmother. We enjoyed the search and reading your little bit of history about Ivy. Cheers from Bindair Dundat.

Visiting Kingaroy today with my daughter for her dancing and with a break after the morning session I decided to head out for a coffee and a cache or two.

Seeing this one wasn't far away I headed off and was soon parked and at the listed GZ. I gathered the information needed and with the new co-ords headed for thenew GZ.

Once there the cache was soon in hand.

Net88 and Captain Terror came for a cuppa this morning, and after I told them I was on 298 finds we decided to venture north to Kingaroy town to grab the last two. Was delighted to see this cache published and realize that we would be passing by on our way to meet up with a bunch of our bestest geo-buddies including the CO! Mr_07 hadn't attempted a multi before so it was a great opportunity and a great cache to show him the ropes. Found the information source and cobbled together the info with ease and we were off to find the cache. This was a bit trickier to access and we found ourselves both wedged in odd spots on opposite sides of the cache.....we did manage to undertake log signing and rehiding in that position. Extracted ourselves and wandered off, paying respects to various strangers who have passed both before and after Ivy. Vale Ivy.

Thanks for cache Net88 and Co. xx svn07

Now that it is the 31st of december I can put this one in the found basket. I needed one find today for the souvenir and I did not have to drive a long distance. The one I need tomorrow is even closer to home. It was very frustrating for me to have two new hides this close to home and not wanting to attempt them as I wanted the souvenir for the last day of 2015 and the first day of 2016.

Short drive to area of GZ and parked outside the fence and walked towards GZ. There is a public car park inside the grounds very close to GZ. Quickly gathered the numbers needed and after a pleasant walk arrived at GZ. Very well concealed and covered. Replaced as found. All Good. Photos attached. I took several looking towards GZ but I could blow up the photos and make out most of the words on the cross so I did not use these. I will keep an eye on this one for you, Net, if there are any issues. I live much closer than you. I thought some of the other closer locals would have been here by now but it is school holidays. A surprise *FTF*!!! with the family, Mr Esky and TheEskyBoys.

I (Mrs E) has family in Kingaroy and we were there today for Boxing Day lunch. The plan was to grab some caches on the way home as there had been an explosion of caches in the area since we were last here but we only had time for two. We grabbed a traditional nearby to where we lunched and I saw this multi at a cemetery...I am one of "those" that love cemetery caches so this was a must do.

We parked the car in the carpark and as we set off to the WP I decided to have a look at the recent logs...What! It's a new release and unfound!! Well at least not online...we will have to wait and see. We were a little blind to start with at finding the WP but soon had the required info and were off to GZ. Mr E volunteered (or was volunteered Wink ) to make the extraction. Moment of truth aaannnd...a blank logbook!! The boys were very excited to have their first FTF. Great little multi made even better by the unexpected ftf. Thanks Net88.

I really appreciate new hides in this area. Normally I would have gone for this one a few hours ago and possibly got a FTF. I do not chase FTF's but will take them as they come. Will leave the FTF to one of the other locals.

I need two caches for New Years eve and New years day to get the souvenirs and would have had to drive a good distance to get the two. Now there is one very close to home in Nanango that I will get and this one in Kingaroy. Thank you Net for thinking of me/us. Happy Christmas and a very good caching New Years. We have one extra day to enjoy our past time in 2016 as it is a leap year.

In recent months Net had mentioned a few times her relatives in this cemetery and that she should check it out some time. Since there was an unmissable event going on in Nanango that we chose to make into a long weekend, it seemed a perfect opportunity to nip over to 'somewhere a bit south of Kingaroy' and check things out. Of course, I was keeping an eye out for remnants of the Tarong Railway Line too!

This morning we visited Taabinga Cemtery while out geocaching with bulldozer72. It wasn't too hard to find with the sign off the main road. What was very impressive though, was the presentation of the cemetery. The road in lined with trees looks more like a boulevard. Recent rains and careful maintenance makes this one of the best looking cemeteries I've ever seen.

Finding Miss. Ivy Bills proved to be an issue though and after a lot of walking and then a phone call to some living relatives she'd narrowed down where she was resting - and we found her! Knowing a little of her story and seeing the home-made headstone made visiting this woman who I'd never met and have no connection to a little bit more special.

I have dead relatives too - we all do. I always find it incredible that we roam this earth for a full lifetime (if we're lucky) before being laid to rest, stationary in one of these donated blocks of land, marked by just a few simple words on some sort of headstone, again if we're lucky. Ivy, had for a long time been like most of my passed family, laid to rest with no marker. Just a green, grassy plot. Every soul buried was just like me, full of life, dreams, hopes, love, fear, had a technicolour story to tell and spent their life making the best of what they had. That grassy patch seems, at times, just not enough to truly represent all of that, and certainly not of the legacy left behind, in Ivy's case, four kids, some of which now have great-grandchildern. But it serves the purpose, not so much as a carrying on of the life but rather a symbol, a way of remembering and giving those who are yet to come a place to pay their respects and give thanks.

Later this afternoon we met up with Aussie Liahona who has a great love of cemeteries and possibly the unofficial queen of geocache hides in such locations - no doubt she has some tips up her sleeve. We thought she'd enjoy seeing this place. Another visit to Ivy and it was decided this was a brilliant cemetery as a whole and deserved a geocache to bring others here. Some questions were devised, a final location scouted then chosen and container hidden. It's always nice being a part of such a thing - and I do love a good multicache. Thanks for bringing me to this place and introducing me to the family, Net88 Smile
