This was my first find for today and after checking out the wall I spotted a possible hide. On the walk to that possibility though I saw the actual cache.

I was traveling today and knew I'd have a bit of time on the drive to grab a few caches. The main mission was Hawera's adventure lab cache and the caches near by but due to the path home I got a couple of caches on the backroads on the way. I ended up finding six of nine caches plus the adventure lab cache.

Got this one tagged between showers of rain. Cheers.

Day 5- Wednesday 18 December. Hawera district again including Eltham and Manaia.

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Yay the rain is stopping, although it started again shortly after. But for a moment we had a dryish gap to find this cahce.

Day five of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is Hawera to Eltham - oh yes, it's going to be a slow trip!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates Sad
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:

* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!

Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Was hoping for walk a on the mountain today but weather was not suitable, so I settled for a 50km geo-cycle around the plains.

Hmmm. Not a lot of options here. Had to stand, look, think for a bit. A fairly straightforward hide in the hide end

12-May-19
Despite the young Rattll's having grown up and left home, Mr Rattll was taking Mrs Rattll on a mother's Day geo-caching trip to celebrate the day.
We decided to head to Hawera as quite a few newer caches have popped up since our last visit.
It's a little drizzly today, so we were glad the lawns were fairly short so the shoes didn't get too wet. No problems making the find here. Thanks 2B

Was on my way to New Plymouth for the night and decided that I would take a small detour and pick up a cache or two before I made my way to my accommodation for the night. This was the next cache that I had on my list of caches that I wanted to find today as I was making my way around Taranaki.

As I neared the nice little settlement of Okaiawa, I soon realised where the GPS was starting to take me and as I neared the cemetery I managed to find a good parking spot outside by the gate. From there it was a very simple and easy walk over to the monument and from there is it was a short and easy walk to GZ.

Arriving at GZ, it took a few seconds for the GPS to settle down, but it was going to be obvious as to where the cache was going to be and a quick search and I soon had the cache in hand, took a bit to get the container to open, but once I managed to get it moving it was easy from there, retrieve the logpage signed and the replaced back as found.

Thanks 2 Bulbars for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13078)

30-Sep-17
We arrived late on Friday night to visit some friends for the weekend. Today decided to go get some caches with them. We went for a bit of a drive around and then ended up about 80 metres away from ground zero so we went for a short walk had a look around it was nicely hiding from us, but not for too long, signed the log and placed it back ready for the next cacher to come along. Thank you for bringing us to this interesting area. It was very well looked after some lovely pictures and sayings to be seen. It gets a favorite from us, if it wasn't for the cache we would of never known or visited the area. TFTC

I am still parked up in Hawera with the caravan and venturing out and about doing the rural caches.

A very restful place. Didn't disturb any of the residents.

Cheers for the cache.

Out with Geco72 - Great spot, quiet as ... as one would expect. This was more simple but still a trick - if that's possible.

04-Feb-17
Quite little cemetery in part of the country I hadn't been to before. Once at GZ I thought, "ah this is going to be one of two possibilities" but alas no joy spotting it. There has been recent work carried out here and for some reason I can't see any previous logs on my phone.

Took a few moments to find - thank god for eagle eyed children. Beautiful old cemetery that is well looked after. Tftc

31-Dec-16
Another summer visit to locate the unfound caches in the area and turn them into smilies. Last one for the year for us, took a while to locate then off to find a place to park up for the night TFTC.

29-Oct-16
I was out and about on the potential new cachemobile in order to clock up more kilometres. Second cache for the morning, and nobody around here although there was a tennis match or two going on as I turned down the road. A nice quick find once I had found the right spot.

A nicely kept little cemetery indeed. We really enjoy looking around these old spots. Thanks for the hide.

28-Oct-16
A fairly quick find past the relocated honours board. As the log sheet was sodden, we replaced it with a small waterproof sheet. TFTC

27-Oct-16
Such a pretty cemetery. A quick find today with Noone about. Tftc. The log is drenched and almost impossible to sign.

Out for a day of geocaching around Hawera. As today was World Sauntering Day - the day to take it easy; relax, go for a stroll and enjoy some valuable ‘me time’, a day which encourages you to slow down and enjoy the world around you. So no excuses, time to go strolling looking for geocaches. Turned out it was the day for it, found 23 out of 24 caches.

I nice quiet cemetery today and that wall fits right in where it has been placed. Followed the GPSr to GZ where after a short search the cache was spotted, log signed and left as found. Thanks for the placement at this quiet spot 2 Bulbars.

20-Feb-16
Was down in Wellington for a few days, and decided that I'd make an extra long weekend of it and transfer a rental car back to Auckland and cache along the way. Unfortunately for the rental agency that ment nearly tripling the km's they thought I'd put on it!Smile

With the rental car company only giving me 48 hours to get the car to Auckland a little bit of planing was needed to maximise what I wanted to accomplish, and with only a few DNF's it turned out to be a very successful trip. So a big thanks to everyone who had placed caches along the way, and for showing me some great sight's along the way.

Day 2: Wanganui to Hawera and home via the Forgotten Highway.

A few Moogles about checking on what I was doing, thanks for the hide.

I've just realised this is one of the caches I picked up on a trip into South Taranaki the other weekend, but have forgotten to log. 2 Bulbars and I went into Curtis Falls, then we both headed off to do our own. Me to find some, he to hide some. Felt sure I've been here before looking for a TreMichLan cache, but I've been told I'm mistaken. Perhaps I was looking for Dr Who screaming Angels. Anyway, thanks for bringing me here again & TFTC

What a wide and spacious place to rest forever! Previous logs gave a nudge in the right direction, but still had to search a bit before the cache twinkled at us. Signed the log and wandered around this quiet spot. Thanks, 2Bulbars, for taking us to it. ☺ TFTC
