9.14pm Thursday 5th September 2024. Well having to find letterbox caches on a Thursday has been a bit of a mission. Doing this one in the dark more so... especially when you make a wrong turn and do an extra 30km on these roass than you need to. TFTC and making it a letterbox. Signed and added my Koa Kea stamp.
Parked the car further back along Bossu Road and went for a walk to find some caches. Quite a few people out for a drive up here today. The cache was a quick find. TFTC.
Lots of water in the container, drained and dried in the sunshine however the log is still damp; TFTC
Out enjoying another drive with my cousin from Holland. Have introduced her to Geocaching so having fun solving puzzles together. Need a mailbox cache today for a challenge so good reason to come this way. Thanks for this cache Nosynel.
Op vakantie in Nieuw-Zeeland, sightseeing en geocaching. Dankjewel voor deze cache.
I had picked up BaldEd for a trip out to Akaroa and the Southern coast of Banks Peninsula.
Just after we had got to the GZ I saw a vehicle go down Jubilee Rd and was thankful I was off that road.
Cheers for the cache.

A quick find on a great day out. There was water in the container but the log was dry. I tipped out the water and put it all back together. The view to Peraki Bay reminded of a scout camp I went on there many years ago. The parents got lots on the way to pick us up at the end of the camp and we didn’t get home it after midnight in the rain. It was like a horror movie that last night. Well it all worked out in the end. TFTH
'Twas an easy find as I drove along in gale force winds. The mist was heavy enough my glasses were getting coated whenever I was out of the car. The car was buffeted around when ever I parked it. Walking into the wind was extremely hard work.
Enjoying the drive around here. While working in Rakaia I better get as many caches I can in the area
Found with Envy-Us on a caching trip around the southern sector of Banks Peninsular. TFTC
Had a stunning day driving around some of the peninsular. Great weather and some amazing views, and roads! Most finds were straight forward, but sadly noted many lonely caches. TFTC
We are at level 2 so geocaching is permitted.

Due to the government ordered Covid-19 lockdown, I will be doing my bit to #slowthespread. From 11.59pm on Wednesday 25 March 2020.
The virus can survive on plastic and paper for longer than three days
If you would like a geocaching related activity to do while you are observing the lockdown, I welcome messages about how to solve my puzzle caches - I am happy to give hints and tutorials so you have lots of new caches to find when this is over.

One more cache we got yesterday, which I forgot to log. Traumatic cliff-edge roads aside, it was a great trip with some spectacular views.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Found on an expedition with Ilmari the Red along Bossu Rd. Quickly found. TFTC Nosynel!
Cycled up to the Bossu Road from Little River and then over to Lands Road and back via Reynolds Valley on a very hot day.... Straightforward find though the container had quite a bit of water in it. A stunning spot. Many thanks.
The weather forecast for Sunday was good so StreetWalker and I planned a day exploring the scenic southern route from Little River to Wainui.
Another in the Christmas hide series - they seem to be scattered near and far. We parked on the other side of the cattle stop (my navigation wasn't too good) so ended up walking a wee bit further than necessary. A quick find. Had to tip a bit of water out of the container, but the log book was still dry. TFTC.

#15602. Good to find another in this series (been a while since we found the previous Xmas cache). Another location with great views. TFTC.
I dropped our daughter off at work in Wainui this morning and took the opportunity to grab a few caches in the hills above. Actually that was 22 caches, 5 cache types, in 5 hours. At the end of it the only dry item of clothing I was wearing was my woolly hat (inside the hood of my jacket). I stopped at Little River for a pie and a hot chocolate, after getting dry and changing my clothes!
Periods of rain they said. Strengthening South Westerlies they said. I got up here and it was blowing its tits off, if you'll excuse the expression. As I was *inside* the cloud the rain was coming in sideways. The phone GPSr took a while to settle with the cloud clover, sending me to several spots that fit the hint. By the time I found it I was soaked through. (I took this, and most other containers, to the car to sign the log out of the rain).

This letterbox was on my target list for today and I got it.
Was surprised when I arrived at gz that my phone was going off and I had cell reception.
Cache had a bit of water in it but everything was fine.
Dried out the container and good to go.
Thanks for bringing me out here

Ladies expedition to the Southern Bays with Jude_E & busy paws.
A fun day out caching, finding a few solved puzzles and a number of other caches along the way.
Unfortunately after a lunch break and rock scramble at Tumbledown, it was foggy when we hit the high road again & we had no view of the Bays. Will have to return to see the view !
Thanks for placing and maintaining this Letterbox hybrid, Nosynel.

Lovely generous cache, Found on a day out with JudeE and KotukuSI. TFTH, all safe and dry.
A nice sized container that had a little bit of water in. We dried it out as best we could. Found with AorakiSheep
We decided to head over to the Peninsula with daughter for a bit of caching for the day. It was really windy!! In some spots, it felt like we are going to be blown away. Luckily, we were only blown away by the fun we were having!! Great day, and a big thank you to all the CO for placing and maintaining the caches along our route!!!

I hadn't had a propper big geocaching day since probably before the baby was born - somehow Bethany doesn't seem to enjoy geocaching as much as I do! It's always slower with nowhere near as many finds!! So a plan was hatched to get my fix - mum and I would go out caching, and baby would have some daddy bonding time!! Haha! However even though this plan was hatched at the beginning of the year, it's taken us till April to execute as mum is always busy!
So finally today was the day. A bit of a late start, and we had to be home before dinner, but still managed to get 46 caches! A few DNF, but heaps of kms travelled! Nice to make some steps towards clearing a little more of my closest 80km to home PQ out!
Found this one after not long - scary road around here - glad I wasn't doing the driving! Haha.
TFTC!!

A nice and quick find in the clouds. Still warm and dry, just nothing to see. Cheers.
Ms KR had a Christmas present to use.... a voucher for a restaurant in Akaroa. Road triiiip.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

On the way to Tekau Bay and decided it would be rude not to stop in such a beautiful spot. Great place for a cache. The views are wonderful. The day was sunny, hot, clear with just enough breeze here to stop it being unbearable.
Thanks for choosing a great spot for this cache.

TFTC. On Banks Pen for a couple of days this long weekend.
This was the last cache of the day. Such a lovely location and great size cache.
Thanks Nosynel for placing the cache.

Extremely windy when retrieving this cache, nearly got blown off the cliff!!! Merry Christmas everyone!! Took TB.
My mission is my first 3 day tramp on Stewart Island. The Seagnoid has Xmas off so we are off on an epic adventure with Zara around the South Island. Toby and Zara are playing tag from Springs Junction to Akaroa. Akaroa was not on the Seagnoids radar, so navigation is by smart phone.
We park Zara up and jump into Toby, with the Seagnoid navigator & scribe and I delegated to log blogger and driver.
Yes another on in the bag. TFTC Cheers. Fun road for me and Toby to explore.

TaybeeDragon and I are off for a three day walk on Stewart Island. But we have a camper, so once you add in getting there and back, it's a three week trip! Day 2: Springs Junction to Akaroa.
We were not planning on visiting Akaroa, so I didn't have these in my GPS. I had them in the cellphone, but as there is no cellphone coverage here, all I had was name, coordinates and size. Now's my chance to read the description! Came this way especially for this letterbox cache, bringing the 4x4 up here, left the camper down below.
Dropped in a path tag.

Grabbed this cache on our way to Akaroa. But this was the last for today as it was getting to wet to enjoy caching. So have to drive this road again, hopefully next time not in the clouds. TFTC
What a drive! Are staying at YMCA Wainui for our Church's camp. Free time this arvo so have come caching with another caching friend. We took Jubilee Rd up from Wainui, neither of us in 4WD vehicles and it was a bit of a mission! Had planned to go back down Bossu Rd but not sure if we're game?....
Our first caching adventure with Team Elliott Family. Our poor under-powered car only just made it up Jubilee Rd so we didn't attempt any more up there and headed back to Wainui to get some there. A nice quick find for the little ones once we got there though. Tftc, we'll bring the 4wd next time.
Great weather for my first Bossu Road experience. Nice quick find. Thanks for the cache Nosynel.
Easy peasy compared to the others we have done today the weather is really packing in :0 TFTC
Came along this road exactly one year ago today with the boys on an crayfishing trip and showing them how to cache. Don't remember the road being so knarely it must be the close in cloud cover and gale force winds. Was just meant to be a senic drive out with the kids. No view today!

We thought we had found a CakeTin..While we were there the Road got busy with 4 Trampers and two Cars drove by..TFTH
Cyclists came flying down the road and a hedgehog had met a watery end in the cattle stop but we managed to find the letter box and stamp the log. TFTC
Thursday night mission... doesn't quite have the same ring as Mad Monday Mission. TG and I went out on the hope to grab a few FTFs as there had been a bit of action in them thar hills. We had the possibility of six FTFs. It was a cold summers' evening.
We had a plan to loop around from Little River to Wainui and then off to Pigeon Bay. First stop for a possible FTF and we scored a {FTF} on this trip.
Thanks for the cache Nosynel.

Spied the string of new caches in the afternoon.....looked a cool spot for an evenings drive, but much better with company, so texted TW to see if he might be free....which he was. Set out from home just after 7pm.....and home by midnight after some 200km - including a short detour into Pigeon Bay and up Starvation Gully Rd. Cold wind up on the top road, but thankfully rain didn't arrive until the drive home.
Had the roads to ourselves. fantastic view up here with the dark ominous clouds rolling in, fresh breeze. Couple fishing boats way out to sea. Quick find and sign. Cheers.
