Logs

22-Oct-20
Cannot find a suitable place to hide anything in this reserve It is devoid of character trees, fences are straight palings, so will have to archive.

01-Oct-20
Not there, 3rd time this has been cleared away. I'll attempt to put it elsewhere in the reserve,

23-Sep-20
We probably shouldn't have tried to find this cache with limited time available, and we didn't succeed.

01-Jun-20
Parks are hard

13-May-20
All good to be found again now that restrictions have been lifted.

29-Mar-20
Until the viral lockdown is lifted, my geocaches are disabled. Any logs will be deleted. DO NOT Geocache currently.

01-Feb-20
Stumped but we will come back

FITW Jude_E
Last one on today's tour that could be dubbed "Jude_E cheering up the cripple by knocking down his DNFs"
Hint's good but the coords, at least for me, pointed to the wrong side of the bushes.

My parents had some Carpenters tapes, so I might have heard their version of this song although I don't remember it.

TFTC!

24-Jul-19
Have laid a new cache, all previous descriptions apply. This one could even be a bit easier. Small extraction tool required.

11-Jul-19
Think this has gone, after the school holidays end, I'll have a really good search for it.

23-Apr-19
This is the second time we ( me and kids) have looked for this one!! I even tried to get the local ‘mugglers’ at park to help with this one. But no such luck again today. But won’t give up.

09-Mar-19
Even with some hints from the CO I still took a while to find this little blighter. Closest one to home is now furhter away. I guess I will need to spend some time on trickier puzzles. Cheers

A bit of time spent in CHCH catching up on some old and new caches.

Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

09-Mar-19
At last we had the park to ourselves. Tftc

19-Dec-18
#16536. I was keen to make a find today to get up to 26 for December 19, and thought I'd bag this tricky cache that Troodles logged recently. The rain appeared to have eased off shortly before I left, but while I was out it came back with a vengeance and I got rather wet. Oh well, at least I found the cache! TFTC.

16-Dec-18
This blue face on my map has been annoying me and I really wanted to turn it into a smile. Luckily SW had found the cache on an earlier scouting mission so he went straight to it.
Exactly the sort of (evil) hide I had been expecting all along but a tough environment in which to find it. Cache contents in tip top condition despite the wet spring / summer we have been experiencing.
Really relieved to finally have my name in the log book (SW is going to return another time to do the paperwork). Thanks for the tricky hide, b-p and hope you have a great caching time in Kaikoura. TFTC.

01-Dec-18
I searched here today with Injeanious. We even listened to the song for inspiration, but it only made us more depressed. It was a 'lonely game' here today, we 'searched but did not find'. We will be back. TFTC!

11-Nov-18
Sheer evil, crafty genius! We finally got it on our second visit. A favourite for cunning. TFTC

24-Oct-18
This was a return visit and armed with a bit more time and some additional insight i diverted my lunchtime walk nearby and after a thorough search finall turned up the clever cache. Thanks for yet another well crafted cache and of course maintaining it.

05-Oct-18
Have searched for a few times for this cache without success. I guess the cache has been moved since I was last here looking for it. After a nudge from the CO, I eventually spotted a suspicious item, and turned out it was the cache. Good to finally get this one ticked off. Thanks for the cache.

05-Oct-18
Waited patiently for 3 muggles to leave while junior cacher played on the playground. Then searched long and hard with no luck. Only then I checked cache attributes and discovered this is a D4! I think this is a bit outside our league, although we are in good company looking at some of the other dnf'ers Smile

04-Oct-18
Had a quick look before the reserve became infested with muggles and muggles, and I had to give up and retire discreetly. I will return. Rodney.

03-Oct-18
New log put in place, thanks flanell11 for letting me know. All good to go with waterproof paper.

02-Oct-18
Omg!!!!! I did it!!!
Sadly I came very unprepared as I had little faith of finding it. But my cachlette and I were very persistent and succeeded! !!!
Unprepared only as I had no spare paper. The log is drenched and needs replacing g, I did manage to gently sign it

15-Sep-18
To keep up with my personal challenge of achieving a minimum of 10 caches finds per day I needed to find 6.caches today. . A viewing of my unfound caches in Christchurch revealed that a cyclocache loop ride from Riccarton to St Martins to Cashmere and back to Ruccarton should fill the bill nicely. Cool

With just 1 cache to find to complete my 6 cache target, my heart dropped when I recognised this little park.[xx(] Bummer! I had been here quite a few times seeking this cache and had always left disappointed. Would this be another DNF? Well, I was here so I might as well scratch around some more. So I did. But again left disappointed. Fortunately I had one other 'spare' cache not too far away. Hopefully my luck would be better there?

11-Sep-18
This masquerade was too good for me today. Will have to return when I have more time.

11-Apr-18
FINALLY!!! We got our inspiration from some very strong hints from the CO regarding the search area as the GPS was a bit misleading (even today it as out by 5m - no drama as this is within the normal tolerance) and a recent find of another cache which used a similar camo. So added this together and made a relatively quick find. However, if we add the time that we spent already on this cache... Great to tick this box, TFTC

21-Mar-18
Went back today ready to put a replacement there and the old one was just looking at me!! So all good to go and hopefully frustrate a few more of you.

11-Jan-18
Gone! Actually, covered up with earth from yet another clean up by maintenance. Pouring today, so will replace (again) when less wet. Not having much luck with this one!!

10-Jan-18
Another DNF for us (shame as we had a good idea of what to look for, and where to look).

10-Jan-18
Thought it might be third time lucky but it wasn't to be...just got dirty in the drizzle.

19-Dec-17
DNF
This masquerade was a bit too well masked for us this time.
I wonder how precise the coords are. We did expand our search quite a bit in the end. But then again, it is a real tricky one, judging by the logs.

11-Dec-17
Second or is it third time here, and upon arriving at the street,we found the Road blocked off..Ohh No we could'nt turn down it,and as we couldn't stop we had to keep driving,so we went on to two Caches further up Sparks Road and after looking at the Road Map we noticed another way in,so back we came..
We knew what to look for so,in the company of Little Horrible over we went.
Well wouldn't ya know it......Typical....She spotted it as soon as we arrived..LOL
Pleased to have this one off our unfound list..We have seen similar but it's a very clever idea..TFTH..

11-Dec-17
Very clever. TFTC.

26-Nov-17
No luck today.

My closest unfound to home, and my new nemesis. Mwah ha ha!

Next time.......

31-Oct-17
After reading previous logs I thought this was going to be mission impossible for me, but after a bit of a rummage around I spotted something a bit out of place and was soon signing the log. Most happy to find this one and hope to find more placed by CO. Tftc

02-Oct-17
One very happy geocacher today. It was exactly what I thought it would be. I just never spotted it on previous visits. Today, having just knocked off another previous dnf up the hill, I though it was worth a shot. No muggles anywhere and I paid little attention to the gps and within minutes had my hand on the container. Thanks for another fine cache, Busypaws.

27-Aug-17
Tricky hide. Only found because of Hubby's dogged determination. Log is wet. Thanks for the cache.

20-Aug-17
No luck today.

A wee bit damp at GZ.

Next time.......

19-Aug-17
Out for coffee, chat & caching with purdiepurdie on this unexpectedly nice day.
This was out last stop - purdiepurdie had looked here before; a chance meeting with the C.O. this morning was very helpful and the cache was soon found.
Thanks for the ache & the hint, Busy Paws.

19-Aug-17
TFTC. Our for CCC coffee, cache + chat with kotukuSI.
This was a cache I had looked for with zero success.
Today after a chance meeting with owner busy paws we were armed with more detail.
The cache was found in a flash and was exactly what I thought it would be.
Thanks again busy paws.

19-Jul-17
I'd tried this one before the coordinate change but became fixated on the wrong GZ. Tried again recently but was feeling the bitter wind and gave up before expanding my search enough. Having now found it (& knowing I've seen this type of hide before) I must say I wish I'd looked at the D rating before looking. Big Grin
TFTC Cool

Spent the night in the big city with a few target caches in mind and this was the last for the day . I needed this for the triple difficulty challenge (just need one more).

Had to wait for a muggle to move on but once at gz it was a quick find as I have come across similar before. Good hide though . time to head home for possibly 3 ftfs if I'm lucky tftc

12-Jun-17
Evil. Evil evil evil... I'd heard plenty of talk about this cache, so I wasn't entirely surprised when I eventually did find it... However most of that talk was before the coordinates changed... so I was barking up the wrong tree (is that a hint?) for longer than I care to admit! Lucky for me, the CO made contact after my DNF log - mostly out of frustration I think - needed to convince everyone that there is actually a cache here to be found! But yes... evil... well not that bad... hmm... enough said! WinkBig Grin TFTC (3767)

08-Jun-17
Even armed with some fairly detailed information from a previous finder, and after a extensive thorough search - I couldn't find it. I'll wait for a hint...

03-Mar-17
There were three of us looking and we couldn't find it. Very difficult

20-Feb-17
Just checking after several dnf's. It's there! Tricky!!

20-Feb-17
No maintenance needed. it's in place and present.

18-Feb-17
Another DNF to add to the list of many.... too good for the three of us today. I am sure it was because GeoJinx was with us!

23-Jan-17
We spent a l o n g time Hunting all around at the given Cords, but sadly we have to add our name to the DNF list..

21-Jan-17
My 2nd or 3rd visit but still no joy. Heaps of time to look but thwarted with GPS moving gz frequently. Another time maybe.

30-Sep-16
We were close by, so decided to have another look for this cache. This time, GZ was in a slightly different place but the abundance of leaf litter meant we couldn't really search very well here, so with limited time available, we soon gave up.

30-Sep-16
We still had a few caches to find tonight, so gave it 5 or 10 minutes and then moved on.

20-Aug-16
There was too much leaf litter around today. Will return for another look soon.

22-Jul-16
I cycling in to find a couple of hop-scotchers had taken over GZ so I cycled out again.

16-Jul-16
No joy. Maybe a more direct/useful hint is needed??

26-Jun-16
One good thing about searching on a grey drizzly day is that we no trouble with muggles. Was surprised at how close GZ was to the playground - would be impossible to search here while the equipment was in use. Had an idea about what to look for (which may be entirely wrong) but no luck.

26-Jun-16
Another one which we had a decent go at, but which we couldn't find it.

26-Jun-16
This is DEFINITELY in place still. it's very sneaky and small. Overlook nothing! I have increased the D rating.

26-May-16
Have it another go with KR, failed again. At least no bleeding this time Smile

13-May-16
Hard to get a fix on this one. Will try again

08-May-16
Add us to the list. Don't like searching on playgrounds with a neighbour looking on. So will be back at night.

06-May-16
Second time DNF!! Hmm!! This time it appeared to have been recent weed spraying!!! :S

30-Apr-16
Out with the cache owner today (who happens to be my Mum) and my daughter Geo Jessie so had to nab a few of Mum's caches while in town - as you do! This one makes number 1,100. Sneaky hide! TFTC.

Distance from original: 24.8 feet or 7.6 meters.
Have replaced cache, co-ords rechecked and altered.

08-Apr-16
Even a PAF didn't help here!

Tree in question appears to have been trimmed within last week - not sure if that will have had an effect...

08-Apr-16
DNF after a pretty explicit hint from a previous finder. Has been some tree maintenance in the area.

03-Apr-16
Have increased the D rating

02-Apr-16
Sad

30-Mar-16
Had a check today and it's still there! Tricky.

27-Mar-16
No, No, No. I was really into The Carpenters back in the day and actually know all the words to this so was sing while at GZ and for the better part of the night actually. I had lots of good little ideas in my head about what the container could have been or where it was hiding but sadlly none were confirmed Sad

24-Mar-16
No joy for me today, but it's cold and windy and I need to get home. I'll be back when I can give it a proper go.

15-Mar-16
2nd DNF at this cache. Sad Will there be a 3rd?

01-Mar-16
Back tonight for another go. Again we were over thinking...... Nice wee hide.
An annoying yappy dog over the road. Tftc fav point

01-Mar-16
To busy looking at main object the whole time. Then more by mistake it was spotted. Nice one. Tftc

29-Feb-16
Oh so clever a Brilliant disguise "Bruce Springsteen " thanks for the tip so well done and found quickly this time. TFTH

22-Feb-16
No luck today.

Another BP dnf.

Next time.......

22-Feb-16
We had a look- with no luck- then decided to come back to have another go- I'd had an idea what we might be looking for. And sure enough- there it was. Nicely hidden- thanks for the fun.

22-Feb-16
Warfi soon found this clever cache. Thanks

21-Feb-16
Very good. Fortunately had found a similar cache after 39 mins of searching and the tell tale object was quite visible so have hidden as I presumed it should be!

20-Feb-16
Real sneaky hide. TFTC Smile

16-Feb-16
Having had a DNF here earlier I returned with a little more time. But really didn't need it. Managed to lay my hands on this sweet hide. A clever one to I still can't understand how I missed this earlier as I have found another similar. Either way I git to the log ..signed the log MCB. Thanks for bringing me here to this place, TFTC busy paws, from Mr Cuddly Brick, 16 February 2016, cache number #1211!

06-Feb-16
A good look around but will have to come back some other day to find.

05-Feb-16
It's still there !

04-Feb-16
45 mins later still empty handed to to depart and ponder further

31-Jan-16
No luck for me today at least the sun was out. Cheers Aslan*

24-Jan-16
Blah! My 2nd DNF in a row. Time I went home. Sad

19-Jan-16
Phew that was a toughie!!! Almost tore the playground to bits, before we went alternative. I remember years ago chasing a Little G cache just like this.Thank you.

14-Jan-16
I just realised that I had only found 1 geocache on my geocaching calendar on the 14 January. So I hopped in the geomobile and went to one close by.
Just to be sure on my numbers I searched for this one. Silly me, I didn't look at the difficulty rating. It had me scratching my head. In the end I found the clever hide.

08-Jan-16
Our third visit. We really should have realized that it was there all the time . It doesn't pay to ignore the little things. TFTC

05-Jan-16
Doing a walk around, took a few wrong roads thinking there might be a path or two. Wrong. Finally got here, searched for a while. Must be a good one, finally gave up once I bashed my head on a branch and cut my lip - not for me today it seems. Cheers

30-Dec-15
No luck for us. Cold and drizzle did not mean a too long search though.

26-Dec-15
Incredibly clever hide! Took me a while, but it was worth it once it was found!
TFTC!

22-Dec-15
Thanks for the cache. Not too tricky, but just a bit outside the usual. Well placed and well constructed container. Worth a FP for sure.

21-Dec-15
Coordinates changed from:
S 43° 33.973 E 172° 36.539

Coordinates changed to:
S 43° 33.972 E 172° 36.537

Distance from original: 10.7 feet or 3.3 meters.
Have checked co-ords and altered them a bit.

21-Dec-15
Saw this Cache and another published close to home last night; but after an earlier fun adventure with TwoSharpe, TheWanglers and victoriousone I wasn't enthused enough to head back out....but I presumed others might.
This morning Mrs TG headed into work to do some stuff so I puddled around home with the boys. Late morning we decided to head out into the heat to find a couple caches and a playground.....
Coords had me out on the grass...looked around and searched the obvious and came up with the clever we Cache. Nicely done! Boys started to play on the playground but got to hot...so they climbed a tree or two before we moved off to find one more before heading back to the cool of home and some lunch! Cheers.

Just coming away from a FTF up the hill and I hit GZ thinking I'd see TG there. My GPSr was pointing at something no so useful and I ended up searching fruitlessly for about 15mins when a headlamp and a 'who goes there' greeted me. It was TwoSharpe! We decided on GZ and TS had the clever cache to hand in short order! Great cache and great execution. We were greeted with a blank log for a {FTF}!!! Nice work, fav from me too.

Thanks for the cache busy paws.

20-Dec-15
Joint FTF with Mr Wangler, quite a day for it today it seems! This is a wee gem of a cache, favourite point from us for the container. And not a drop of blood spilled, unlike the previous FTF tonight! Tftc
