Logs
Sun on your back, breeze in your hair. Hardest part was getting the loot out in order to reach the log book! Saw several horses on the road and evidence of them, too. Tempted to take some home for the rhubarb, but we're up from the S Island for a few weeks, so didn't bother. Thank you GSEL
A nice quick find GPS a little out but looked in the obvious spot. Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are heading North again to visit family. Today was just cruising visiting new places, like Makara, and caching where we could..Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
It's night and I am up here with a torch. I didn't want to look too dodgy, so lay down out of sight whenever a car came past - there were a few. Took me a bit to find the cache as it was totally not where I expected it to be, but once I got to that bit it was a fast find.---It's another size regular dot-day and as I was perusing the map trying to work out which cache to target, I realised I have a new service available - I am no longer restricted to trains and buses. So I decided to come out this way. And maybe find some of the nearby caches along the way. So I headed into town, waited till 5pm, then got me a by-the-minute car hire. 2 hours maximum if hired overnight, starting at 5pm. I had it for 3 hours and found 12 caches. The first was in daylight - well, evening light, the rest were all in the dark. Love night caching!
I should have trusted my gut when I first tried to find this after following the hint! It was exactly where I thought it should have been lol Left some swaps and a TB. TFTC.
A quick find.Log paper dry, but sodden paper in the cache.A very cute Hall. Thanks for bringing us here.
Parked in the driveway at the given coordinates. GPS is very low out this way and couldn't completely depend on the map. It pointed off and on the property at times, and I wasn't sure if I was allowed on the site. After giving up searching the fenceline, I crossed over it and started looking at anything that satisfied the hint.Took a bit but eventually found. From this, I'll assume we are allowed on the property. Cache and log were in excellent condition. There were no horses around today that I could see.Cheers.Sleepy was here!
(# 8428) After a nearby event I decided to grab this outstanding cache as do not come over here very often. Got to th GZ and RogerW1NZ was on site searching for the goodies. He soon found it and we both were really pleased as we has old DNF's on it. The log was very damp so a new one was added .Thanks GSEL for bringing me here.
Stopped by here on the way to the event in Ohariu Valley tonight. Great chance to stop by the caches on this road. Had met up with TrinityNZ at the previous cache so we popped along here together. We searched a couple of spots first before TrinityNZ uttered those magic words. Log is wet but we managed to scribble our names.
#2642. Following the very enjoyable Welly Wednesday Event a couple of ks away, and having DNFd this cache on 27/08/17, 6 years ago, it was opportune to remedy the blue face. Mr-Mcgoo & I teamed up to search by torchlight, and I soon had the cache in hand. Was it there last time? The log wasnt in great condition, so I added a new one. No wild horses were spotted during the search.Tftc GSEL.
Attending an event in Ohariu Valley tonight at the wind farm, so ItchyFeet2020 and I called in here on the way. Didn't take us long to find the cache, thanks to the hint. Great to have nice easy car parking. Thanks GSEL.
A wet night in Ohariu, prior to a booking for dinner in J'ville. Stopped off to find this cache, had it in hand after a short hunt. Unfortunately, despite being double containers, the log is sodden, so took a photo. Tftc!
This must be my 4th visit here, and as always I was somewhat nervous about searching this site for whatever reason. Still activity over the road, as usual. But after moving and checking some spots, I finally laid eyes on the cache.
Returning it was somewhat more complicated due to increased activity across the road, but I did my best to have a stealthy and quick return, putting everything back properly, and finally leaving the valley having found all of the caches here... for now.
Tftc!

Took a minute but found it after digging round. Log is soaking wet but wrote very carefully so didn't rip paper.
This is actually my second DNF here, and both times I have felt extremely exposed making the find. I looked all over what I assumed was the site from hint plus log clues without success.
Day 61 of my TA adventure....
My second to last day for my north island ...putting in a big day so I can have an early finish tomorrow
Nice quick find while taking a break

Found this cleverly hidden cache by removing some obstacles and carefully replacing them after. Poured water that had collected in the first container. Things a little damp but not too bad! Thanks
No luck for us despite not too many likely places to look. Maybe we just didn't bring our A game today.
I had a reasonable look for this one but was defeated until the next time. We had cycled over from Makara and it was a lovely ride, a great day to be out and about. TFTC
An easy park and grab if you look in the right spot. While opening the GC I realised why the cache is called "Wild Horses". Tipped out water from outer container and dried, inner container with log - all ok. TFTC.

Found on our TA thru-hike. Nice to have a cache to break up this long road walk!
A nice evening for a bit of caching. Parked up and searched a few spots before it dawned on me where it might be, and there it was. Log paper is quite fragile, but signed and stowed away safely. TFTC
Came to explore the west wind recreation area but it was closed for lambing season. Instead we took a nice walk along the beach and found this cache on our way back home
In the neighbourhood and needed a cache or two today. A relatively quick find. I’ve been to the occasional meeting in this hall without knowing there was a cache on the spot. Now I do! #2453. TFTC.
Nice spot, well hidden, paper scroll is very wet. One horse in container and left where is TFTC TheOtherPhotoGuyNZ
Have been in Wellington for the Mega, now just relaxing with family, decided to do some caches out this way since there was a car available, picked up the TB, tftc
I came over to Ohariu Valley this evening to grab the skindo A-Z cache nearby and thought I'd stop by here to see if I could avenge my DNF. After a short search (dodging the leavings of the cache theme - they are quite wild, aren't they?), I found the cache in a place I definitely looked at when I was here before. Left a trackable. TFTC
Took a little while There was a fair bit of 'under' to consider! I recall that Meridian gave the locals some sweetener $ at the time the Mill Creek wind farm was built The hall heat pumps were part of that TFTC
Appropriately D had to watch the oncoming horse on our route to this cache. Thanks GSEL!
Called back to.get this one today after a DNF a while back. All clear to have a good search. Found it. It was not where I had previously looked. All good here. Nice to have a smillie face for this one. TFTC
What a great little country hall, it looks like it hasn’t changed much in the 100 + years since it was built. There weren’t any people around which made it easy to search out this cache. TFTC
Had to give this one a miss as there was much activity happening in the hall. Tried to have a bit of a search but not really possible with people coming in and out of hall. Sadly, need to leave this for another day.
I must have arrived a bit later in the day than sunju, as GZ was pretty quiet when I got there. But despite a thorough search under many possible hiding places, there was no sign of a cache. Oh well, can't win them all.
I got very cheap flights to Wellington and back for the weekend, what a perfect excuse to come caching and find some that have been sitting on my to do list, and some more! TFTC!!
I really enjoyed this one. The coordinates led me to one spot and then another. After looking around a bit they settled on the first spot and I found the cache in the most likely spot - only a few feet from the first place I looked. Thanks for the find.
The 5th of July for my 5th visit and finally I found it, despite looking at its hiding spot many a time. I think this cache likes changing its (hiding) spots. TFTC.
After DNFing this before I was prepared for a more thorough search but I found it immediately on arrival. Surely it was hidden better last time I was here or else how could I have possibly missed it? Maybe it should have been tucked away more but I replaced as found. TFTC.
Found in quite an exposed position with Gilgul and UlmusLynx. Outer container full of water Hid in a more concealed spot TFTC
Too tricky for me today - and I'm hungry and need some lunch. I had to skip another cache up here due to camped muggles (or maybe another geocacher) so I'll have another go at this one day.
After completing maintenance on one of may caches further up the valley stopped of here. Fortunately nobody around so I could checkout a few spots without looking to suspicious before finding the cache. Sat in the grass signing the log before tucking back away in its hiding spot.
As I drove out past the riding yards there seemed to be a school holiday activity with a number of kids learning to ride. Good for them. TFTC

I have a goal today and to help me reach that goal Watcache was nice enough to keep my company while I work towards my goal of reaching 3000 caches.
The plan was hatched and the caches we wanted for your goals were noted and the order to do them in we set off around 10.30am weather was in our favor with only a couple of drops here and there and got home close to midnight, goal reached and one good sleep was much needed.
thank you for taking the time to place the cache, we enjoyed visiting each one of them, we will need another plan to come back and grab some more.
this one is a little sneaky watcache made the find cache 2991

Out caching for the day with Marisa & Kaleb today helping them reach there 3000 cache goal. We turned up here with not one horse in sight but many along the way they are so beautiful. This took us a couple of minutes to find and it was difficult to get the cache out so we didn't we got the log by using a different technique signed the log and placed it all back how it was. cache was all good here. Thank you for placing a cache way out here in this lovely area we would probably never of came this way if it wasn't for the caches out this way. TFTC now off to get some more caches we are on countdown to reach that 3000 for Marisa & Kaleb.
Had a really good look in the obvious place and couldn't find it, I hope it hasn't gone missing again! I had one here a few years ago that also went missing
Had a look in the place I hid it and there was no container. So have left another container there today. Noticed later in the car that the pencil I thought was going into this container was still sitting on the car seat. So make sure you bring a pen. All set to go again.
As I was passing, I had a look where I found it a while back - it was not there.
I had a good look (both heading up the valley and on the return) but could not spot anything.
A pleasant excursion to find a few caches in the valley. The hall has been spruced up a bit since I last stopped by here, but I just went straight to where I would hide a cache here and bingo, cache in hand straight away.
TFTC,
TFTC,
Second night time visit, the first abort due to a reluctance to get too close to the building. Once I had consulted a previous finder I knew what I had to do and soon hand the cache to hand. TNLN SL TFTC
In the area for a skindo mystery cache so made a stop here too. A quick find, and good to see something a tad larger than the previous sub-nano at this spot.

This was a reasonably quick find on a chilly afternoon. I checked a couple of spots closer to where my GPS suggested it might be, but it was in a reasonably logical spot.
Brownie paid a visit as well. Cheers and TFTC

Being out this way for an orienteering event (where I got totally soaked), I decided to see if I could find a few caches in the area. I remember finding a cache here previously; I think it was one of those horrible hanging nanos. Like Wicm, I didn't find the cache where I expected to but I did locate it before I had to resort to head scratching.
Stopped off on my way home from an event up the road. Took about 5 minutes of searching - not the first place I looked, but I hadn't started scratching my head yet. TFTC!
Didn't see any Wild Horses here, but found the cache after a little hunt. Thanks for the cache.. Did after a walk up the old coach road with Mycro Man.
The brand new decking had me wondering if this might have been disturbed but a quick peer round the obvious places soon located the cache, all dry and in good condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache
Collected a couple of caches while in the area with tmann421 and Princess-Emily this evening.
A short search and we soon had this one found.

Tagged along with tmann and Just-Lookin this evening collecting a few caches.

Quick find and was familiar with location as it acts as the smallest polling booth in the local electorate. SJT_NZ and I were keen to vote in the Catlins last election at the smallest polling booth in NZ but due to other commitments couldn't get there. This great little hall was a good alternative and made voting easier. TFTC
Saw this one posted a while ago but left till today to grab for a 'Dot Day'.
An easy find, and the location is most memorable for me as this is where I voted in the last election. There were were/are some caches up the road and my caching partner and I decided that we'd use the opportunity to both vote and cache.
All in good order & TFTC.

Nice spot. My Sister got Married here. Today also marks 1 year of geocaching for me. Tftc.
#7425. A nice drive to Ohariu Valley Road before lunch. Quite a lot of evidence that horses had been on the road recently, but the place was all quiet when we visited. Found after a short search. The cache was a little larger than expected. It was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside.

There is some very new decking and an access ramp at the hall - maybe this has made access to the cache impossible?
Went for a pleasant morning drive with Mrs agcnz via Johnsonville to the cache, then to Makara (good coffee at the cafe there) and back via Karori. The GPSr was pointing me consistently to the corner of the fence, and when I didn't find anything there I used the hint for a reasonably quick find about 6 metres away. Nice spot and a surprising amount of traffic here today including quite a few horses. Saw the geocoin in the cache but left it there. Signed log, TFTC!
Cache # 2,812 - TTF (Infoferret actually counts as a STF, since the FTF was shared) with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly. A glorious day today, and visited the Makara Cemetery to pay our respects to a dear (departed) friend, so continued on around the back way to grab this cache. Took a few minutes of searching, but a satisfying find. The TB in there was one I dropped at an event just recently, so left it for the next cacher to move along. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Did with The Wandering Dragons and Violet Butterfly today. Thanks for the cache! Swapped a trinket.
Cache # 552
Cache # 552
Found this today on a fairly big "local" car trip with The Wandering Dragons and Astro Hunter. Nice spot. Swapped out two toys and replaced with two other toys. Thank you.

A first to find along with Yeetrees. I pulled up shortly after Yeetrees and we searched together before finding it in an obvious place. TFTC !
WOW another joint FTF with broadbridges(17:00), saw this cache when it was published this morning but was far too busy to even to look for this cache.
Checked it this afternoon and decided that since there was no FTF on this cache and I needed a cache for today I managed to convince mrs Yeetrees to go for a ride out to Ohauru valley, actually the GZ was closer as the crow flies but we decided to do the leasurely route.
Arriving at GZ and after a short search decided to go and grab my phone to check the cache description, as I was going back to GZ I heard a car turn up and it was broadbrigdges, nice to catch up again
After a short search broadbrigdges soon spotted the hiding spot a bit larger cache than I first thought it was going to be, opened the logbook to find a pristine logbook. Glad to claim another joint FTF. Thanks for placing Another cache here, it has being a while since I have being down this road. TFTC TNLNSL, Yeetrees FTF craze also came for a visit.

3TF @ 5.15. Fdf. At work this morning when the horse bolted, and had to wait for a while to corral this one. Found. Hooves checked and returned to the stable with a tb to keep it company. TFTC and a merry Christmas to all!
