Out for a big bike ride, and decided it was time to stop for a banana break. Should I stop here, or there? I’ll stop there. Let’s check if there are any caches nearby. Oh. I should have stopped here. Then there. Now I am going to eat my banana there, double back to here, then pass by there again.
Puzzle solving with a twist. Dropped the Supa's off for a sleepover and made the finds after dinner. Thanks
Crap weather today to get out on the bike so out in the car collecting a few caches
This cache was not in the column but stuck to the inside of the roof in plain visibility for anyone to see, the container lid was also missing
I have replaced the container, and positioned it back in the column so it is the same as the Port (or is that Starboard ) cache

I was at work nearby today when it hit me on how to solve these.
I've had my eye on these caches for months and I can't believe it took me that long to catch on.
I made my way over after work to finally collect them.
Cache was an easy find.
Put my signature in the log book and returned the cache to its hiding spot.
Thanks to Freddo for this cache.

Today I went to Newport for business. After that, I tried two caches nearby, and found both.
Puzzle has been solved in the mid of last month. Glad to solve a Freddo puzzle without any help.
Drove to the end of the road, and walked to the final location. No one was around, and soon I got the cache in hand.
Lid was broken, but log book is in good condition. Signed the log book. It seems I'm the first find for this cache in year 2022.
Thanks for the puzzle and the cache, Admiral Freddo.
PS: the photo was taken in the listed location.

Found on a geocaching juggernaut with Rowbota. We found 7 mystery caches in the Port Adelaide area. Rowbota had his cache finding radar on to the max. He can sniff them out. TFTC.
Like it's opposite number, I found this one whilst near the Port with some gongbeater.

After a dip at Semaphore South had a little wander around Port Adelaide. This was the first of five caches of three different types that were found on the shortish way home.
Can almost remeber thinking when this and it's opposite came out, that wasn't too hard, must come and find them sometime.
Sometime was quite a while coming.
Thanks to Freddo for placing this cache here for me to find

And now for starboard. Port. Starboard. Talk about getting turned around. Can you hear my reversing beep as I try to keep the green markers on my left as I leave port. Doesn't really matter, I am colour blind so if I cannot see the shape, I am heading up 8h1t creek without a paddle.
Recently three of us pirated my mates yacht out on the harbour for an overnighter. Nice sailing in the afternoon, a fantastic dinner cooked by Mark, and a delighful beverage or two after the sun went down. At about 12.30am the swell came up and was rocking the anchored yacht back and forth. We decided to pull anchor and head back to the safety of the marina, coz none of us were getting any sleep. We navigated in the dark, I was watch at the bow, but had to leave it to the skipper as we approached the marina. No clue of the lights that were flashing. We did have the digital map so was never an issue.
Thanks for the cache, easily found and in great condition. A nice evening walk under the stars.

by this time I was running very late and intended to find PORT but PORT is in a no go zone behind a temporary fence. Another 200 metres away another puzzle cache - STARBOARD - was waiting for my visit. At a very appropriate location the cache was quickly located thanks to spot on coords.
Thanks for the puzzle and cache Admiral Freddo.

Spent the afternoon at Port Adelaide walking around in the sunshine (and wind) picking up a few caches. Haven’t been this way for years so it was like being a tourist in my own city.
Not sure if it was the wind or the fact it was a weekday, but not many people out and about today. Makes caching easier so I’m not complaining.
When this puzzle first came out I played around for 5 mins and then gave up. A couple of years later I had another crack and coordinates came out surprisingly easy.
At GZ, I searched high and low for ten mins until I read the hint. Hmm...another few minutes searching with more focus and the cache finally revealed itself.
Thanks for the cache.

The other of a pair of Freddo caches that we finally took the opportunity to cross off our solved but not yet found list... The solution was not too hard for these, yet the location was somewhere we have not ventured yet, so it was quite surprising to see just how nicely most of the area has been fixed up. Lost of jellyfish in the water today, too! TNLNSL TFTC
Could only make one grab here this morning as their was a ceremony taking place exactly where the cache was!! Muggles, argh!!! We settled ourselves down when we realised it was a spreading of the ashes ceremony.
Out with the kids for a day of exploring the local area for caches and playgrounds. Got to tick off quite a few caches which was great and the kids found most of them. Awesome weather for it too. TFTC and for the fun!

Did a massive walk from Harts Mill to collect these two caches. If only I could work out other puzzles as quickly. We took an ages to find the first one but the second was an easy pick up. Continued rounds and back to the Mill. We were stuffed after eating loads of food truck food so the walk did us good and the hound loved it. TFTC

No apologies for identical logs. Companion puzzles get companion logs....
There is an unwritten geocaching rule when it comes to puzzles, "Do not overthink the Puzzle". Well I know this rule well but do you think I know when to apply it?
This and its companion caused me a lot of grief. For a D1.5 puzzle I agonised ov3er this for ages. Tried something. Didn't work. Reid something else. That didn't work either. Tried something more, still nothing. Grrrrrr. Then at an event I mentioned to to the CO and those around and I got a lot of downcast looks, sad faces, head shaking, then a comment was made ad suddenly the lights came on. Red for port and green for starboard. Went home and got it immediately.
This morning, with a busy day ahead, I decided that it was time to head down nd make the finds. Early start and off to GZ. Parked nearby in the apartment area and wandered to the solved coordinates and put fingers on the cache in the first place I looked. Love it when that happens. Extracted the log, signed and replaced. Not a muggle in sight. Then off to the companion.

I made my way to this 'Evil' hide first. I say Evil coz it took me over 15 minutes to find the darn thing! I went over the hidey spot twice! [:o]. It was so well placed in it's spot. 15 or so mins later I was SL at 12:58 on Sunday, 16 April, 2017. Love what they've done with old shipping containers here... So cool, took pics [^] The cache and contents are all good and dry [^] Left a 'bwt' small craft peg. TFTC Freddo (My apologies for where I placed my sticker in the log book... I didn't check ahead to see the other finds )
Out for a bike ride around the port today, so stopped by to make the find. Oooh, two caches for the price of one I thought when they were released. Then I struggled with the puzzle initially [B)] - until the penny eventually dropped! I can be thick sometimes! . Took a good search at gz to find the cache, but found eventually. TNLN SL Thanks for both caches.
Day Thirty Two of our holiday - the first day of April, BettyBoo3747 and I are still at Semaphore in Adelaide.(But not for much longer!)
Today we just bummed around the Port collecting a few puzzles and some trads.
The morning was spent in the car, and the afternoon on the deadly treadlies.
It was so confusing all this red/green, port/starboard, left/right stuff!
But we saw it all in action today at GZ. They were racing remote controlled yachts just off the Mill point.
The boats were about a meter tall, and the wind was fairly whistling down the course, flattening boats it anyone made a wrong move (no reefing the sails here!). There would have been about 20 of them - very colourful.
Thanks, Robmc.

#12287. Day 32 of our SA holiday. March is over and here we are with April Fool's Day already and that means we are due to leave for home on Monday. Sad at the thought of it but looking forward to getting home.
With some rain this morning and grey skies we hopped in the geo-chariot and headed to the areas around Port Adelaide and Garden Island. This afternoon we got the bicycles out and headed out to gather up some more puzzles and traditionals. I seem to have finished the day with 25 smilies and 4 DNF's.
Another pleasant shelter to survey the water from. Gale force winds were playing havoc with the mini-yachts this afternoon.
Thanks Freddo

Another way to remember which is left and which is right is to think of the historical origins of the terms.
Think back to olden days when boats didn't have rudders but had a tiller on the side used to steer. These were long 'boards' used to 'steer' hence steer board which became starboard. As most people are right handed, these steerboards were on the right hand side of the boat.
Because these steerboards were on the right, when the boat berthed, it had to berth on the left hand side in port, hence port was left. Of course you just think of the colour of port wine to remember that port is red and therefore starboard green.
Anyways, we enjoyed a short stroll around the loop track waiting for Portobello Cafe nearby to open for lunch (very pleasant) grabbing these couple of caches.

I had solved this one and it's 'partner' cache quite some time ago, but never find myself out this side of town to find the caches. So tonight I went on a night time caching trip to Port Adelaide specifically to grab these two. Started with this one, and spent quite some time searching the GZ without luck, so I phoned a friend for help. Sir Spectre confirmed that I was in the right spot, and the type of container I was hunting for. So I knew I had been on the right track - I just had to keep searching. After I hung up I reckon it took another 5 minutes before I found the cache with some clever camo. TNLNSL
Once I had this one in my hand, I knew what to expect for my next hunt. Off to Port I go!

Yes, I think I have it now - port is left, starboard is right, and depending if you're going in or out of the harbour the colour is different. Wow I learned something!!

After previously visiting the green one (and not seeing the cache), then visiting the red one (and finding that), then revisiting the green one, and DNFing it, I was happy to see it wasn't just me when Brisal5 replaced it for the CO. Over in Adelaide for a holiday and seeing the sights. The Loop walking/riding track is a great walking track. We were fortunate to be able to wander along without getting wet today but it was still too windy to see the sunken boat. We did find the cache relatively easily however without any fuss we signed the log and moved on to capture the port cache.TFTC

So I am in Adelaide for 3 hours of work in the evening and have a early flight so a day of caching with brisal5 planned. Thank you to all of the owners for their creative hides.
Mogni was in town for one of her 'flying' visits. That means some caching time before she was required for a few hours 'work' before some more caching. The GOTHs needed some maintainance down Semaphore way so I spent the past few days solving a few puzzles down that way. After picking up mogni from the airport it was time to cache our way down to Semaphore. That done we cached our way into the Port for a great Lunch at a pub that mogni remembered from earlier days. You can take the girl out of the Port but you can't get The Port out of the girl. Stomach rumblings satisfied it was time to get back to caching.
First up we couldn't find this. So we wandered over and found its twin. Returning here we had another thorough search but seeing the previous logs and knowing how experienced those cachers were we made a call to the Admiral. Back to the car and a suitable replacement was found and placed with permission of the Navy Chief.
Thanks for bringing us down here Freddo.

CPwanderer needed an early morning lift into town and so he planned to get just a couple of caches afterwards .... he should have known better
After a circuitous route from the city to the west, north, east and almost back to the city again I finally dropped him at mother CP's house at about 5pm and by then, he'd found about 16 caches for the day [^]
My muggle son wanted a lift home from work and so after finding a couple of extra caches on my own, I returned to North Tce again at 6.30pm and made it home with a total of 12 finds for the day
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
I'm sure that Admiral freddo's stature has increased since he became an Admiral!
Apprently he is now as tall as that lanky roach whose 1.5* terrain caches are out of my reach!
Therefore this find took a bit longer than expected as I couldn't get there and CP was struggling to see with both his eyes and his fingers
Finally located after a PAF call suggested that a second look in certain areas was required and then suddenly it hit me.... this IS starboard, after all!

We enjoyed this pair of puzzles and they did not take long to solve and for us to have the required coordinates for each cache in the pair. Today we went to look for the caches. Our first impression was the unique constructions at each location. These were a great idea, created with a high degree of flair and a link to the history of the area. Full marks for the design and its contribution to revitalising the area.
Accurate coordinates led to quick finds. Both caches were in good condition. It was pleasing to catch up with SA Sewer Rats and Snap Happy at the second location we visited and we enjoyed one each others company for a period of time. We then walked back to the first location (as they had still to find the one we had found earlier) before going our separate ways. Thanks Freddo for an interesting pair of caches in great and creative locations.

Took longer than expected, but got there in the end. Keep persisting on this red structure
Having spied GZ from the companion cache, I decided to take the lazy route and park nearby. Managed to park less tan 50 m away. Then I floundered about for 30 minutes searching (I thought) every part of the structure that could likely hide a cache. I almost gave up a couple of times, but then reached a bit more in a certain spot and "bingo". Took me way longer than it should have. Beautiful still morning and the river was like a mirror.

Last time Owl was in the area she had jumbled the coordinates for Starboard so badly that she found herself in an unlikely location at Semaphore, far from any hint of a boat. Back in the area today a brisk walk took her to a place where miniature boats were having a race. This auspicious omen was the prelude to a cache signing. She still may be confusing her port and starboard, but at least she has found both now. Then it was off to the Port to get her starboard leg fixed.
The last of our finds on an enjoyable walk of the loop. Although Sandy thought that when we were doing the Loop at Semaphore we would've seen sand. But we did see a dolphin, and we could even see its path via a water trail.
An even quick find after the first cache
I went out recently with a friend in his boat. He did not know which side of the starboard poles he needed to be, and I told him, "Green to Green when going upstream" - although going around an island at the Port it was difficult to determine if one was going up or down stream - especially when there was no Port marker - although in the end the jetty may have been the Port side.
We will need to do the loop Clockwise one day, as we ended up using the staircase and not the ramp to access the bridge. Nice view of the mob from there too in the evening.

Another bout of frustration. And some confusion, not helped by exploring with hot and tired child. Another time, perhaps.
I had found Port while attending a New Year Days dinner in the Port but because I was with muggle people I left this one for another day.
Today was that day and along with JJ52 we went for a short wander and a cache was soon in hand.
Thanks for the boating lesson Admiral Freddo!

Port and Starboard, I can never remember which is which even when I was boating. [?] These days I don't really need to know, but tonight along with Ismartis we confirmed which was which and two caches were found.
Thanks for the caches Freddo.

Back visiting with Sebastbat and Froghoppin.
Sat here a while and admired the dolphins dancing around in the water.

What do you do when you get stuck out caching and your GPSr file fails?
Find a couple of puzzles and just solve 'em !
Results may vary... had already looked at these, so knew where they were going.
Thank you Freddo for making them possible for even a ship's cat to find.
Got the Green (and red) light from the checker and went for a stroll at GZx2.
Soon found two fresh little caches. Any port in a storm...

I visited a very scenic GZ at sunset on a hot evening.
A few people enjoying the weather and having a fish nearby made the search a tad more difficult.
To avoid looking too suspicious I resorted to a PAF. Soon after that, the cache was signed.
Now to the PORT side. [^]

Second one complete.
A nice series that bought along a track that I've often wondered about the point of.
Still left wondering. I guess once they build aim the housing around here it might make more sense.

Geomum quickly worked out the co-ords for PORT and STARBOARD this morning, then took a trip to GZ with geogirl this afternoon and found the 2nd of the two caches! Yay, our 900th find!!

Another important expression that is used with Port and Starboard is:
"Odds to Starboard, Evens to Port".
This is helpful when on cruises, as cabins with Even numbers are on the Port side, and odds on the starboard side; similarly lifeboat stations are numbered that way too.
On naval ships room numbering follows suit, and so to do any weapons / decoys / sensors.
Cheers

A quick solve, after I stopped transcribing numbers that is!
Not so quick find, but find it we did!

I still need to get my boat licence. I get red and green but flat tops and pointy tops [?] Now I know why!
A bronze finish - and gee the water looked so tempting.
Thanks to Freddo and clear skies from TeamAstro. Cache the planet!
SEMIK and I were just about to call it a night when the notification for these two came through. I haven't been on a serious FTF hunt for quite a while, so we sat down and on our second attempt, we had coordinates for this one. PORT followed almost immediately after.
So we hopped in the car and made our way to GZ, opting for this one first as there was some convenient parking to be had. We hadn't been at GZ for more than a minute when we were joined by Brad&Janet, shortly after our comrade had his hands on the prize for a joint FTF at 2210. Thanks for a simple puzzle and an interesting night time walk along the waterfront Freddo!

Fortuitously I saw these two shortly after they appeared.
Initial thoughts? Oh no. Two more massive tomes from Admiral Freddo. And an endless loop to get caught in.
Well might as well start working through some options
Option 1 -> geochecker smilie! That's a bit unusual but we'll take it!
Strangely enough a similar approach worked for the other one too
So into the geomobile and head off towards GZ realising there are others who live closer.
I planned to drive in as close as I could but realised that that was not going to be as the R4V4's way was blocked.
Plan B - I knew I'd forgotten something. So it was to be a foot approach.
As I approached this GZ I could see lights and activity.
Muggles? Not a chance. RTGW and SEMIK searching for the prize.
Greetings and then I joined in. As we searched the structure eventually I managed to lay my hands on the prize.
And the logbook was blank.
Congratulations all round

TFTC yet again Admiral Freddo
and off we headed towards PORT
Joint *FTF* at 2210 on 28/12/15 with RideTheGeoWalrus and SEMIK
