It's been nearly a year since this has been found and there have been a number of DNFs since then.

Today, It being a non-shopping day, along with the fact that we were meant to be 200kms away out East Cape (but weren't due to the weather at the end of last week), we spent the day collecting a few caches around Rotorua to see a bit of different countryside and make the most of the fine weather that had come out to play.
Setting off from home at 6.30am (nice early start with the good wife) and a quiet drive over here. So it was a concentration on caches we could get to, that weren't roped off as the lake level was too high, and only involved a short walk, as didn't want to leave "wifey" with the car too long as she might leave without me and say "Bugger You" and the caches.

Managed to grab 27 of 27 today which was more than happy as it has left enough to come back to in the future. This was the sixteenth of the day and a nice quick find following some breakfast at the "Fat Dog". Nice cache to grab on the way back into the city. Today the steam was great so no view of anything.
Although did get myself in the poo by offering to stop for antiques at Tirau on the way back [^], but then informed that as its Easter Sunday all shops are closed and that is the only reason I would offer to stop for a shop, as if

I was standing close to this for 3 hours 2 weekends ago! To busy to check my phone though to see what was nearby and there were lots of runner muggles anyway. Tonight on our way home, georunnermatt and I stopped to find the last cache in this corner of town to round off the smilies. Cache is nice and dry. Tftc!

Found tonight with livee_nz while on the way home from finding a mystery cache that I had finally solved. Found quite quickly, but at lower than waist height. Cache in good condition and log dry. Awesome spot for a cache. Funny thing is that livee was standing 10m away from the cache for about 3 hours while volunteering for the tarawera ultramarathon, and I was standing there for some of that time chatting with another runner mate. We could've looked and found the cache a couple of weeks earlier! TFTC

I did an 11K run this morning, stopping at several places to look for a geocache. However, this was the only one I stopped for on my return leg. Thankfully, I was able to make a quick find once I got to GZ, mainly because of the hint. Signed the log. TFTC!

Off the Golden Princess, and we had hired a car to allow us to get out and find a few more caches.
This was find number 5 for the day. It was found after a short search, and quickly returned as we were eager to head to the nearby live in village.

This is indeed a lovely spot when the steam moves to one side and you can see the blue pool below.

Must be a "write-in-the-rain" logbook, because I could. Not difficult. Surprised it doesn't go missing, as there is a muggle passing every minute or so.

Staying nearby so we popped out for this one before dinner. Interesting smell SL and replaced as found.

At the end of my first whole day in NZ I found this one quite easy in a bit smelly and wet condition. But nevertheless a nice place. TFTC! Grüße vom Sänger

Jet lag has kicked in and we were awake at 4.30am. We waited until it got light before nipping out and grabbing this. TFTC despite the smell!

Staying at a nearby hotel, we got up easily and took a stroll by the pools. The cache was quickly located but the whole cache was very wet but the log was signable. TFTC

I am visiting from Australia and after spending a week with my sister in New Plymouth then attending the mega event at Turangi I have time to play tourist for a week before my flight back to Sydney next Saturday. So I thought I would head towards the Bay of Plenty as I have never been to this part of New Zealand before. Today was a run from a bit south of Rotorua to Tauranga, so not a job of getting every cache on the way but a line on the map.

Swung in here to find the cache and look at the pools. A couple of muggle girls were there when I arrived but moved on (don't think I look that scary). Quickly spotted but very wet. Is that where it is supposed to be as it's very visible? Thanks GoGeodude.

Our journey down to the 2016 NZ MEGA in Turangi has begun. TNXPro and myself have teamed up again with plans to meet Davidsonclan later on. This was the 3rd stop for Team B.O.P. and the cache was found quickly and in good condition but it was loose on the ground and it was hard to decipher how it was originally hidden - so we replaced it as best we could. All we could see is steam unfortunately but I took a selfie anyway. Cheers GoGeodude TFTC

After dinner at the hotel next to the cache (were we have stayed for two nights) we took a short walk and found this cache.
The steam from the steamvent did a great job on camouflaging us and the log could quickly be signed and put back. Found together with Kitten_armand.

Found easily with the clue's help but had some trouble hooking back in its hide. The CO might need to give the mechanism a tweek.

But a great cache, in a fabulous spot for viewing thermal activity. A Fab Point from us!

Found on the ground, had fallen off its perch so I put it back nice n safe

After a walk through the Hemo Gorge with sveppi, we drove around here to retrieve this cache as it's one of the last few around here that we haven't found yet.
Nothing serene about this place today! There is a rather noisy and rattly pump screeching about 20m away!

Getting the cache was a bit tricky, as it had fallen out of reach. I had to jump the rail and tried not to get my pants dirty on the moss/lichen covered surfaces (failed!). After signing the log we tried to figure out how to put it back, as we were pretty sure the floor wasn't it. Found some sort of very rusty hook (not surprising considering the severe oxidizing nature of the sulphuric acid constantly steaming the area). The cache container itself ist't in great shape either with some dodgy patch-up job with tape to try and fix the handle. We think we put it back where it belongs, but it wasn't easy considering the state of the area. We think it might need some attention and a new, sturdier concept.

Found with fanfan-77 whilst out in town for a Sunday walk. The pool is nice but a noisy pump somehow disturbed any possibility of serenity. The cache we think was out of place as some fence jumping was required (well done fanfan-77). Replaced where we think it should have been but it does need some TLC as the container has suffered. TFTC

In Rotorua for a few days with work, doing some training. Only a brief opportunity to continue my streak today, between finishing for the day, and going out for dinner - luckily this cache was only a two minute walk from my hotel room! Took a while to spot it, was starting to feel defeated... but glad to eventually sign the log... didn't have too much trouble with the hook... TFTC (3148)

Had fallen off its hook, but a stick helped with retrieval. Would be more serene without the pump vibration in the background, but still an awesome pool.

Not such a serene find for us. We couldn't find it at first, then spotted something on the ground on the wrong side. Steed found his way to the wild side and retrieved it, we signed and then it took him ages to put it back where it was meant to be, no wonder it had dropped again. The repairs someone else did were good, but made it difficult, so maybe it needs a visit. A split ring would help to replace it easily.

#2471. I am staying up in Rotorua with the family for a couple of days. Managed to get out and do some geocaching in the afternoon. This one took a bit of finding. I couldn't see anything at first but finally found something that seemed worth closer inspection. I then scratched around with a stick and found a container lying under vegetation. But couldn't get it to an opening in the fence. So had to find a place to climb over and carefully made my way along to pick up the cache. Got back to the correct side and signed the dry log. The cache needed some field repairs to get it back on the correct spot. Thanks for the cache.

Last cache of the day, soo much steam today so we saw nothing hahaha. ohwell we thought the cache was cleverly hidden.
