WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 72 - Wyalkatchem to Westonia via Trayning, Nungarin and Merredin. Today I was back at heading to new Counties. I stopped at as many of the roadside caches as I could. I did a few cemetery multis. When I reached Merredin, it was time to do some Labs alongside some great caches around town. I was happy to get off the main road and head towards Westonia where my afternoon was split up by a few different activities before cooking dinner at the van. I'm heading back west on a new row of counties north of the past few.I did the entry artwork on the way into town yesterday, and today I was able to us that information to make a quick, but a bit more difficult find here. Thanks for the cache WebblyWA48338.4 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & February 2022 Don't be a Packrat A#485**Albida**

Found on a trip to the west from South Australia., visiting friends and relatives, checking out the sites and finding caches of interest along the way.

The weather has been really good since I headed north of Perth. There has been no rain and the winds haven’t been too bad. Makes a welcome change from the previous 3 weeks when I was constantly beating my way into strong winds and it rained almost every night! I hope it holds out for the next couple of weeks as I head south end east on my way home.

The cache was found in good condition. However there was no sign of the associated piece of equipment/machinery but the number was on the logsheet.

Thanks WebblyWA for the cache.

On a road trip around the wheatbelt areas of Western Australia for a few weeks. We are enjoying the many friendly towns along the way, whether staying in the CP’s or camping out. So far, we have found every cache that we have looked for, and hopefully our streak will last as we move around to the next town and beyond. Thank you so much to the CO’s of every cache for placing them for our enjoyment. They certainly bring you to many spots that you might not stop at otherwise.

On a camping trip with a pile of like minded geocachers. We headed out today for a run around the area. Tagging along was Granett, Kyzabra, AlliedOz, Sit Fancy, Cirrus, and The Fitzys.
As usual when we get together, a fun time is had with much banter and laughs.

WebblyWA SVKR_WA is happy to have found your cache Wylie Travels - Elevator today at 10:19:26 9 Oct 2021. This brings my find count to 5015

WebblyWA - Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment. We love travelling and visiting some places that we would only visit due to this game.

Find 10 of 16 on day 5 of our road trip which today finished in a blur of new LGAs, taking us up to 83 finds and about 2700km covered.

31-May-20
Had to read some previous logs and used my phone to confirm the cache location, just managed to grab all the pieces as it was open and scattered.

After signing I put everything back together and where it belongs.

——-

After conferring with the boss I organised for a leave pass for the weekend, that got extended for a second night, and headed out to the Wheatbelt to join fellow caches.

Day 3 started slowly but got fast quickly, I packed down the tent and loaded up the car before joining a group heading to the top of Kwolyin Rock to grab the cache before hitting the road.

With the slower day Friday this was going to be the big drive day picking up as many LGA’s as possible, I ended the day with 7 new LGA’s bringing the weekend total to 12 ticked off my list and getting closer to my 100 LGA’s by the end of the year.

——-

Thanks WebblyWA for placing this cache for me to find, this is find number 2261 for me.

Taking the long, pretty way home today and spent far too long on this one, looking in the least obvious spots. Wasp nest... Phew, empty! No, that's not it...... Aaaah, there it is. Thanks for the hunt.

Out and about in the Central Wheatbelt area this weekend on a mission to grab some missing LGA's. After 1200 odd K's, 43 finds, a few DNF's and two nights under the stars, it was mission accomplished.

This one took longer than it should, had to read back on a few logs to narrow down the search zone. Had to be at my rubbery best to get hold of the log book though. Big Grin

WebblyWA I found your cache at 9:02am, this was the 4th of 21 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 5879. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

After two surgeries in the last two months, then getting bad news about more plus getting things done at home I thought it was time for a short getaway to recharge the mind so Mr dimor chose the location for a change and that happened to be Dowerin for three nights Big Grin

Today was our day to 'spread our wings' a little and head to Wylie to cache.

Had to get Mr dimor to get this one as little me couldn't reach

This weekend has been some time in the planning and we were heading up this way to drive the Wheatbelt Way Trail and collect geocaches along the route. We also had GCA caches, Waymarks and Sighters on the radar which should break up the trip nicely. We had no set plans for accommodation and we decided that we would see where we ended up each day to set up camp. This cache was one that we targeted on our mini adventure. Cheers and TFTC.

G’day there WebblyWA, I was in this area today and found your cache Wylie Travels - Elevator GC691M2. I added my name to the log book at 11:09 am on 28 September 2019. A huge thanks to you for placing this cache here for us (and others) to find!

Hi there WebblyWA.

We found your cache **"Wylie Travels - Elevator"** at 11:23:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 22334).

We are heading from SA to WAGB in Northam & we stopped off in Dowering on the way through. Now that we've settled in a nearby caravan park we have taken the opportunity to head out and find some of the caches we had couldn't have done with a caravan in tow.

We found 10 caches today & DNF'd 0. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

Happy Australia Day! What better way for a cacher to celebrate our national day than to pick up some great Aussie caches. While passing through Wyalkatchem with ilook4geo, we decided to have a go at this little Wylie Travels series. This cache was a more difficult one to find, however, when it was located the log was signed and the info for the final was noted. Thanks go to WebblyWA for placing these caches and featuring different points of interest in the town.

Despite the weather, some fantastic finds and a few dnf's were had.

Well talk about a delay in logging! Time has just flown by since I undertook this awesome LGA weekend with PommieParkin. Due to the delay, you will have to excuse the generic log.

PP2 enquired as to whether I would like to go on an adventure to get some more LGA's under our belts, to which I said of course! Set out on the Saturday to head up into the Wheatbelt for the weekend. We first stopped at Northam to do one or two of the Bristag caches I had heard so much good things about. Unfortunately we only managed one, but it did not disappoint!

From there we headed east through Meckering, Cunderdin and Tammin (knocking off a couple of LGA's). From there, we headed north to Wyalkatchem, stopping at a couple of interesting places for caches. I particularly enjoyed the stop at Yorkrakine Rock, it was such a beautiful spot.

We finally reached Wylie, where we were staying the night. Before the day was over we completed the wonderful series by WebblyWA, which gave us a great tour of the town. Once the caching was over, we met up with WebblyWA at night and had the pleasure to experience a drive-in cinema in Koorda, which was conveniently another LGA Wink

On the Sunday, we finished off the caches we had on our list in Wylie and headed west towards Dowerin, where WebblyWA had another series. It was another great series and the final ended up being my 1000th cache found!

From there, we kept heading west to Goomalling for another LGA. This was where our LGA hunt was meant to stop. But, it was here that the LGA bug got to me and it became a case of "well if we just travel half an hour this way, we can get another LGA". So after little time spent convincing PP2, we headed north to Wongan Hills, stopping in Konnongorring for some great views at Gabby Quoi Quoi. Unfortunately, Wongan Hills cemetery was where we had our first DNF of the weekend, meaning our hopes of another LGA were riding on the one other cache in town. Luckily it was an easy enough find.

We then headed west towards Calingiri for one last LGA, stopping to admire Lake Ninan on the way (can't believe there isn't a cache there!). The cache in Calingiri was found, putting my total of LGA's found on the weekend to 8.

I had such an awesome weekend exploring this part of our great state. Many thanks go to the various CO's of the caches. But, I would particularly like to thank PP2 for suggesting the weekend, WebblyWA for some great series and Kyzabra for coming up with the LGA challenge, without which I probably wouldn't have explored this great area.

Thank you! I had been talking to my dad last week about a recent day trip Geocaching, when he asked me if there were any out near his hometown. After showing him the map, and watching him study it for a while, I asked if he was interested in heading on a road trip with me. So today we headed off, with the only goal being to check out Baandee lake after the February rain.
Didn't take too long to find this one, but hint helped.

I was so scared to put my hand unknown places.. i needed to ask help from my partner. Cache OK!

21-Nov-16
Headed back up to Geraldton for another caching run (third time this year). We started off by picking up as many caches as we could in the wheatbelt on the first day before arriving in Geraldton. The next day we headed up to port Gregory and Kalbarri and the highlight of the day would have to be be the pink lakes in port Gregory. Day 3 saw us caching in Geraldton picking up some we missed last time and clearing up a few of our DNFS here before adding some more DNFS to the list. Day 4 we headed off to mount magnet picking up some caches along the way till we arrived there. I must say the caches in mount magnet were quite tricky to find and it was also a stinking hot day so we didn't get to find all the caches we were hoping to find there. The last day we cached along the coast on the way home. Once again it was stinking hot and we missed doing a lot of the caches we hoped to find plus the flies were driving us crazy but we still got to visit some great places. Most of the caches we looked for we did find and we came across some very sneaky well made cache containers along the way. Thanks to all the CO,s for placing there caches for us and all the other geocachers to find.

Day 3 of our Wheatbelt trip. We covered 1260 km and found 61 caches.

This trip out had been a long time in the planning.
Krabiboy and I had hatched a plan and probably changed it about 10 times. dallyho joined us, final plans were set, and off we went

We had initially planned to cache Wylkatchem but our navigator had a football game to get to so we grabbed one so the CO knew we had visited (ever so briefly) her town. We will be back. Cool

WebblyWA - Kyzabra found your cache Wylie Travels - Elevator . The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

Kyzabra and I came up with a plan to come to the northern wheat belt and clear up as many caches as we could. We left early Friday morning and stayed overnight in Bencubbin.

Saturday saw us head towards Beacon, Wialki and Bonnie Rock and staying in Mukinbudin on Saturday night.

Only had time for one cache in Wylie today, so made sure it was a quick park and grab. Nice entry to town here, look forward to coming back and clearing up the rest of town.
