Logs
This area has been logged - comparing with previous photos many trees are down, seemingly the tree this was on is gonex there is a large stump at the posted coordinates, but no tree anywhere nearby, seems it's been muggled or not near the location anymore had a good look around the area but lots of branches that are too sketchy for me to climb over at the minute, could be a treasure hunt or Co may need to archive
Took a cheeky walk up the hill while staying in Naseby for the 2024 Australian Curling Championships. The forest just felt like it was froma fairytale. TFTC!!
Found with graceygirl1234 while staying in Naseby for Australian Curling National Championships. TFTC
Quite possibly the largest cache Ive found to date - thanks! Found after a walking forest adventure with the family. Happy Easter, and thanks for the cache.
Nelzarama and I visited Naseby post lunch for a quick scout around and thought wed check out this cache.A short scenic walk in the trees and the cache was found - reading material provided! Picked some blackberries on the way out for the trip home.TFTC
A nice walk up the hill with Kubabelle to find this good sized cache. I love the idea of the book swap.Cache was in good order and the name of the cache quickly made sense when we found the cache. Thanks for the cache.
Wow what an awesome cache to finish off the Naseby finds for me. It was definitely one of the coolest caches Ive come across and the little book swap idea was creative, definitely getting a favourite point from me. I would have liked to find more of the caches in the forest but unfortunately you need a bike to get there and I didnt bring mine up. Cheers for the cache
Drove a fair way but then run into the ruts and thought it wouldn't be such a good idea taking 4Club's car any further. So reversed a bit and parked up next to the old curling damn. It was a quick walk to GZ, and it actually took a while to find what we were looking for. Eventually we spotted the container. Tftc
On a wander of the tracks with a bunch of non geocachers and great to find a nice size container to introduce Geocaching.
Term 2 break. Planning for next term is done and it's time for a winter getaway before the third term begins. So it's off to Naseby we go to rekindle childhood memories of racing around the tailings but this time hunting for caches.

11. found today, sixth one in Naseby. I arrived after night spent in Danseys Pass Base Camp with 5 guys on motorbikes. Let my car near Holiday Park and took a bike carrying with myself. Awesome combination car with bed + bike!
Lots of mushrooms around, hopefully eatable (I am from Czechia and we usually love picking them).

Decided that today's target would be to get as many caches as possible in the Naseby area. Some of the plan got side tracked by more interesting caches and some caches were unavailable due to all the holidaymakers in town.
We had no idea the best route to get to this one so once again the satellite map was loaded up and we found a spot that may lead to the cache. Once we got there it seemed there was a road so we followed it and that took us to the cache. There were no signs saying it was a mountain biking area or that the road was closed to vehicles. Anyway, we fund the cache and signed the book. tftc

A nice quick find thanks. Cruising around Naseby after dinner.
Ms_KR and I decided to have an extended Show Weekend break, so today we headed for Naseby. A lovely day and plenty of little distractions was had by all!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Oh my cold little fingers. Middle of winter this one was fun and easy. Good stuff thank you
This was awesome! The cache was a great surprise even though there is a bit of a clue in the name TFTC
What a super find on a stunning autumn day in Naseby. Such a cool cache, and although not hard to miss, a great place for its location.
Found with StreetWalker on a big day, starting in Duntroon at about 8:30am, and finishing in Clyde, via Danseys Pass, nine hours and 62 caches later . A fantastic trip with great views and interesting places.
We drove part of the way, then walked the last few metres. Cache was a quick find - great idea for a cache container! We didn't have any swaps with us. Thanks for the enjoyable cache.

#16901. We drove some of the way, but when we reached a good parking spot (with the track looking dodgier up ahead) we parked and proceeded on foot. Quick find at GZ (great container!). TFTC.
This is a really good geocache!! We have had our experiences and we belive this is our favourite one so far
After a great weekend at the wild food fest in hokitika and then a road trip down the west coast it was time to head home. Stayed in omakau last night giving myself a few hours this morning to knock off as many Naseby caches as possible.
Nice stroll up the hill on a cool Autumn morning cache was a easy find tftc

Today I decided to visit Naseby to have a nose around while caching.
I am more partial to thrillers than westerns.
Cheers for the cache.

Lots of cool swops, SAFE & sound. Nice stroll on summer afternoon. Swooped kiwi eraser for sheep one.
10.20: On the way up to Danseys Pass for our four-passes-journey over to Fairlie. But before leaving Naseby we decided to give this cache a try: so much to our surprise we got the chance for entering a pretty demanding 4WD-track as we approached from "above". The cache was a fairly quick find then and left us standing with mouths open wide! What a nice (should we say "cool"?) container! And truely rare these days: lots of content for exchange, bookworms are welcome here!
Weather: scattered clouds, sometimes a few sunbeams, 18°C;
Wheelchair: no, not really, steep tracks, muddy and uneven, too;
State: all good.
IN & OUT: nothing.
Thank you for bringing us here! A favourite point goes out for this one!

The water is flowing UP the hill! Thanks for the cache. It’s a particularly picturesque one, especially in the frost.
Spending a day cyclocaching in Naseby. After stopping for a delayed lunchbreak it was time to go seek some more. I ran out of puff and had to push my bike the last 100m but that just meant I would get a good downhill ride. Thanks for the cache erninz.
This got the heart rate up....thank goodness I could pull up a seat and have a read...ha ha ha..thanks erninz..great cache
15:52. Instant FP for the container! Love the concept. Now to dash over to meet the rest of the family and head back to Ranfurly for dinner. Tftc
Visited the cache as we biked past. All nice and dry. Propped a couple of bits of wood front and back for extra concealment and to hold it shut. It looks as though this will be the next section of forestry to be logged - the tree this cache is against is not one the loggers will want to fell, so fingers crossed the cache will be okay.

Great cache - I've heard about this man made river that was used for gold mining. I understand it goes for miles!!
A really lovely hot sunny sunday afternoon, but can see the clouds getting darker in the distance, glad they held off as on own from this point. Been up for the 12hr race yesterday, stayed on for the caches and of course to explore this lovely little place.
Cache in good condition.

Stopped at Naseby this morning for some brunch and a bit of a look around. I drove up to GZ for this one, although the state of the road made it fairly tricky doing so. Found very quickly - a nicely done cache! Signed log, TFTC.
Found OK after taking the direct route, Found a nice track/road to walk out on. Cache all good, great location. TFTC
The cache title all makes sense now that we have visited. We walked up from the curling rinks having decided not to continue driving.
+ a marble, - a pill bottle.

I'm down in Otago to cycle the Otago Rail Trail over a relaxed 5 day period and took the opportunity to find a few geocaches along the way. Day 3 was from Oturehua to Ranfurly and then a side trip out to Naseby for the night. After being shuttled out to Naseby I then had the afternoon to wander around town and find a few caches. Quickly spotted this interesting cache while wandering through the bush here - favourite point added for the hide! TFTC!
A short bike ride and a quick find. Dropped off a TB.
First of the year for me.

Strolling past on the water race, Mr D made a point of revisiting this cute cache. All in place, nice and dry.
A frosty morning stroll around some of our favourite Naseby places. Came through from the Elizabeth tree following that foot track beside a feeder water race, along past the dam then enjoying the Mt Ida race. Lovely idea for a cache!
Unfortunately the container had tilted backwards, possibly because of a large fallen branch on top, so water had got into the lower corner. We removed a couple of books which had got wet - luckily most are still dry. Shifted container so it is on firm ground and tilted slightly forwards, with a stone to keep the 'lid' in place.
Back down the road, always rutted but someone spinning their wheels has left the upper part a sea of mud at the moment.

Cool find. Very wet and muddy today and even saw a truck slide into a big rut. Made us laugh
Interesting concept . . and the library is still surprisingly dry after the monsoon last week!
I'd suggest walking from the crossroads below the cache unless you have a REAL 4WD or until they grade the road again. BIG washouts . . enough to swallow a car wheel

FTF. A couple of years ago we were thwarted at a FTF attempt on another Naseby cache at this time of year when we arrived to find the forest had been locked down due to extreme fire risk. This time I checked the Ernslaw One website before setting out this morning and found the fire risk in the forest as "High". They don't close access until it reaches "Extreme". So off we went. Arrived in Naseby early afternoon to find the indicator board now on "Extreme" and the gates at the forest entry points locked off. In fact, we saw a Ernslaw One ute running around doing the lock-up job. So obviously the risk had only just been upgraded. "Dang!" we thought. However, checked out the road up to the cache from behind the Ancient Briton hotel and access wasn't being restricted there so off we went. Passed the old curling rink and realised that I had been up here on caching business some years ago. Found the excellent cache immediately and then decided to head east along the water race. Along here we encountered the farmer who leases land in the area from the local council and what a thoroughly nice bloke he was. He explained that the land in the area of the cache does not belong to the forest company so is not locked down when the fire risk is high (excellent to know for the next time we go to Naseby for a forest walk only to find the forest locked down.) He then showed us how to cross his land and find a public track down to the back of the Royal hotel. Excellent spot for a cache but didn't have a container with me. maybe next time. A very enjoyable outing and as such it earns a favourite point. TFTC.
