Cache checked today and container damaged beyond repair, thanks crasher cacher. Now will cut and close, StA.
Out on the push bike to get some exercise and also find a few caches. It was pretty warm today, so I was rather wary of snakes, but happily none were to be seen.
I've not been along this line before. It's a great little ride, but it's a pitty that it no longer goes through to Allenford.
All the caches had reasonable co-ordinates and were in good condition. And happily most didn't take long to find either.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Thank you. Matt and I went cache hunting while the girls wandered through the graveyard. We never would have discovered this place, and the history if not for this spot. Cheers from Team Bearsleys!
Wow... 2 December! When did that happen? After finishing off the Christmas caches it was back to complete the rail trail which was partly completed last visit and a few other caches before heading home.
After searching some obvious locations I moved to a slightly more covered location and soon found the cache.
Thanks Saint.Anthony for the cache.

We were out and about in the Ballarat area today caching on our last day before we head back home to Tassie. We've really enjoyed our caching experiences and we were glad to be able to fill in another area on the map. TFTC
Our GPSRS were playing funny buggers with the cloud cover and the misting rain this morning. Found using the hint, while our pointing machines would have had us elsewhere! SL at 9.35am. Plenty of hawthorn trees in this area. #6425 TFTC Saint.Anthony
I really appreciated the hint on this one! I was spending far too long trying to locate it and since my app today was sending us in random spots for GZ (I left the GPS in the car; d'oh!) I was left going between the tracks for far too long! Plus with all the welcomed rain lately, the tracks are now like a little creek (which reminds me, I need new shoes!) cache eventually in hand, signed and returned! TFTC, SL, CIGC

###**CACHE OWNER ACTION REQUIRED PLEASE**###
----------
I've noticed this cache is carrying a maintenance log which really does need to be addressed by the cache owner.
The guidelines indicated that periodic visits to check on the cache, as well as prompt attention to any logs that indicate there is a problem, are part of the [**cache owners responsibilities.**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines#listingmaintenance) If you can't attend to the issue promptly, then you need to [**Disable it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=235) - I have Disabled it for you this time.
**Can you please respond to this situation (or indicated your intention) within 14 days,** so others know exactly what is happening with this cache?
You have lots of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:
- Check on the cache, repair and/or replace the cache or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the praises.
- If you really hope to get it fixed but there is some unusual reason why you can't do it soon, then at least post a Write Note log (within 14 days). Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. For ongoing issues (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 28 days so as to keep everyone up to speed.
- If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it,**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when I next look at the cache page, it is likely that I will, unfortunately, have to de-list (Archive) it on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

TFTC. This is one of those caches we keep meaning to stop at. Rather than pass by today we stopped and drove up the track. A relatively quick find. It took longer to turn the geo-vehicle around.
Up early this morning and out and about - Creswick was the target today.
Cache in good condition log is full and needs replacing.

Find #2052 for me. Found with my son GeoAditya while in the area from Bendigo. This was a quick find for me. Well, I'd already found it last year so knew where to go but at that time the lid was screwed on so tightly my puny little hands couldn't open it so I decided to leave it for another day. Today I had no problem accessing the log-sheet after more recent cachers had loosened it a little. The log-sheet was quite full but I was able to squeeze my name in a small gap at the bottom. Thanks for the cache Saint.Anthony!
Hooray !! A beaut day for a bike ride
First stop was the railway junction
Here I soon discovered the 'joys' of Hawthorn.
'An 'orrible plant that should have never come to our fair shores to inflict its spines upon geocachers !!
Avoiding a poke,
I soon found this caching berry

A nice little hide on a very hot day. Log was dry, but full and needs replacing. TFTC
After a lengthy spell of walking yesterday we got lazy and drove in. A neat little hide. The log is full and a bit damp. TFTC.
Our friend needed to get about 40 more before venturing on a wonderful trip where she wants to hit a milestone. What else was to be done than to offer her a helping hand. The weather was horrendous as we left Melbourne. We even had to clear the hail from the windscreen before we set off but as we travelled further afield, the skies got bluer. The rain held off all day whilst we were caching but the wind was incredibly cold. Lazy wind Mr Papi calls it, as in too lazy to go around, it just goes straight through you. It was definitely doing that. Thankfully we were able to get to this one with only some decent puddles but not sure how the rest will be. Here's hoping. Must admit that I don't know much about trees or their heritage. Thanks for the cache and the lesson.
The weather in Melbourne was horrendous, cold, windy, raining front ways, sideways ….. hail …… it was just not geocaching friendly . Luckily the day was planned far away from any of that and as we travelled we could see the bluer, clearer skies. Perfect day for a road trip. I had my stamp ready, the tub full of lollies & 2 pretty wonderful geocachers to boot. I had no idea where we were going for the day and literally went along for the ride. The aim today was to get at least more than 20 …. hoping for 40 …. and happy for anything in-between. See I'm approaching my 1000 ( I've been tapping away at it for 3 years) , with a big milestone trip in my sights and I just needed to get the numbers before I go away in September. This was our 1st find for the day after dancing around a box a hope step and a jump away. With a hooray … we were on our way. The "common" Hawthorn looks like a beautiful regal tree. Something I know my grandmother would have loved & probably have seen. She was an amazing gardener and I'm pretty sure I have a love of all things nature from her. Would have been nice to have seen it with flowers. Thank you. On to hopefully more smiles.

Out today on a road trip with Mrs Papi4506 & 4B Ninjas.
This was our first find of the day. The track is a little wet. Hopefully we can get to the rest.

I dropped by here around 3:30 and quickly found the container, but try as I might I wasn't unable to unscrew the lid so couldn't access the log-sheet to sign. Interestingly, I'd found an identical container earlier in the day and had no problems opening it, so I'm not sure why this one didn't want to budge. I'd really like to sign the log-sheet before claiming a find here so I'll wait until stronger hands than mine can open it and then I'll be back for another go, I promise! Thanks for the hunt so far and the series Saint.Anthony!
Finally with a day just for myself while i was home with 2 weeks long service leave , i took the geodog and myself out for some cache hunting around the Creswick area.
Relatively quick and straightforward find here. Logbook is getting very full and needs replacing. Thx St A for the cache, glad i didn't find any Hawthorne prickles!

With a CITO and a Parkville precursor event in Ballarat this afternoon being great incentives to head west, a full day of Geocaching was planned. Some of that plan even happened...
Visiting the nearby cemetery was highest on the list, and I was relieved to get the next step in a long ongoing challenge completed at last.
So this cache was a bit of an opportunistic detour, but informative and interesting in its own right. I'll have to return for the rest of the series. The walk in meant avoiding a few good sized puddles, but the log was nice and dry.
Saint.Anthony, thanks. I shall return.

There certainly are plenty of rocks in this area in which to hide a cache so it did take us some time to find this one. The Hawthorn bushes had some lovely red berries on them as well as a some colourful rose hips on those bushes too. Very different cache container with a different colour indeed! Thanks for the interesting and informative notes that we did appreciate.

I'd headed to Melbourne on the 5th May for a weekend stay to see Priscilla: Queen of the Desert
Instead there was a mammoth change in my plans when the Corolla suddenly needed new brakes [xx(] which led to needing new tyres [^] which led to needing a new wheel bearing [xx(]
So a weekend turned into almost 3 full weeks and my HUGE thanks to the very patient and tolerant kmace who not only provided accommodation for myself but also for Rex [:X][:X]
Having your home invaded by a rabid geocacher who gets irritated when they have no car to go and find caches because it is in the workshop [xx(] and a pup who shreds his toys all over the house is not an easy ask for a day or two: let alone 20 odd days! [:X]
Rex also loved the beaches and the seagulls so there were many walks on the beach, some in pouring rain and gusting winds but that's what being a dog owner is about [^]
During this time some fantastic caches were found and some adventures occurred [^]
My thanks to all of the COs for the fun and the finds [^]
Day 22 of the trip and Rex and I packed up and left kmace's home this morning and headed out to meet leafotwind for a trip to Ballarat as he wanted to target a few caches there and I was more than happy to pick up anything that I had not yet found
After returning leafotwind to his car I went on to find my last cache for the day at 2.20am (appropriate as it was a cache about night caching ) and then Rex and I stayed near the awesome Sand Bar Cafe and the beach before finally heading for Shepparton much later in the day. All up 14 caches were found with only 1 and we even got muggled by geocachers BernieH and The Muggle Wife Does at the Ballarat cemetery
Thsi cache took a fair bit of time to find as I initially scanned the area and then moved outwards before heading bacxk in closer again
Don't look for the obvious!

The next target of opportunity as I and locus cache began making our way back to Ballarat from Creswick. Although we managed to take the track to within 10m of GZ we spent quite some time hunting the cache. Both locus cache and myself envisioned a couple of types of hides which of course caused the cache to elude us.
Eventually locus cache nudged something which didn't move as it was supposed too and voila!

The third day in Ballarat and surrounds with BettyBoo3747.
Today we went to Creswick and tackled the CBRR and CDLGM series and any others we passed. We then travelled across to Mt Beckworth for a few challenges.
Saw more Hawthorn trees that we wanted to today!
This one was interesting as GZ showed where the rail lines used to join.
Thanks, Robmc.

#14100. Day 3 touring the area around Creswick with Robmc. Back through Miners Rest to Creswick and a visit to the CBRR series and the CDLGM series and then off to Mt Beckworth to finish the day. Ballarat weather was kind to us today, no gale force winds and plenty of sunshine - very nice.
The first of several Saint.Anthony caches that we did today. A pleasant stroll to GZ and round and round I went and ended up right where I had suspected the hide might be in the first place. The clue was perfectly relevant and appropriate and it was a nice little hide here. All good with the cache. Added our names and now back we go to the other side of the road to walk to the next one.
Thanks Saint.Anthony

No luck with this one today.
While I applaud the cache theme and the well-researched and written up cache notes and I appreciate the need for micro caches in vulnerable urban areas (and use them myself), I cannot understand their use in a rural setting.
Frankly, to stumble around in long grass with the ever-present danger of venomous snakes, not to mention the thorns, looking for a micro was not to my liking.
Even the generic hint did not help me.
Not everyone will agree, but in my opinion (unless you have created a clever camouflage hide, in which case you are challenging the finder) caching is about taking teams to features and allowing them to log the find and appreciate the subject matter, whatever it is.
I trust these comments are appreciated as my personal view and taken in spirit in which it is intended.
Cheers

After enjoying our last visit to the area, we decide to head back again this morning. Last time we were here, it was hot and sticky. Today the sun was shining and a lovely cool breeze was blowing. Once again we had a ball, touring this beautiful town and surrounds. Thanks to all the hard work from the CO's. Had to careful here !! TFTC Saint.Anthony

I planned a trip up through this area with a day off work and while the geo family were busy with other things. I wanted to check out some of the gold mining back roads around Creswick. I was ready to go with the geo vehicle packed with plenty of snacks and water for what was going to be a hot day out. This was at the start of the trail for me today. I parked nearby and walked the short distance to this one. It took me a few moments to locate the hiding spot and avoid the Hawthorn Tree at the same time. Stamepd and replaced as found.
**Thanks for placing this trad cache Saint Anthony**

Found said Hawthorn. Not of AFL fame but just as prickly. LOL.
Soon had container in hand.
Great hide. Came with two puncture wounds to the back of hand which set alarm bells ringing. Returning cache was completed with gloves followed by long probing stick. Fortunately no reptiles or arachnids sighted. Thus far no ill effects. Probably a hawthorn spike. Lesson here. It's bitey time, pay attention. TFTC TNLN.

We were pleased that it was still winter and that the hawthorns had not started to develop their new leaves.
