After 8 years of this series being active I am republishing the caches with new cache types , Locations and sizes. Its my hope to bring people back to this wonderful area of canberra
With nothing on today, I decided I wanted to go and do something, so I focused my attention on EthisEthat's virtual and thought I'd knock over half of it by trekking up One Tree Hill.As much as the stretch of CCT trads snaking their way up to the peak tempted me, I chose the cheat's way in which was much closer.Still, its non-stop steepness, jumped fence, and befriended cows certainly earned me those terrain stars over a shorter distance!I was mostly paying attention to the top of the hill, and was only vaguely aware of the fact that my path might cross with any other traditional caches en route.I did go straight past this one on the way up - something I only realised ~50m after the fact by which point I couldn't be bothered backtracking when I'd end up finding myself traversing the same trail later regardless! The sun was in its very early stages of setting by this point which painted the sprawling suburbia below in a gorgeous new colour. The wind was also picking up, so my search for this one took place as I gradually began freezing. The GPS signal wasn't cooperating, so an extensive search took place before I finally approached gz from the correct angle after about ten minutes of scrambling up and down.In hindsight, that was the most throne-like feature present! The logbook was signed and I was joined by plenty of kangaroos for my descent.Hopefully I can be back for some more of this series eventually! Thanks to Champs2Monkeys for placing this one here and DARKSIDEDAN for keeping it going!
Riding Section 2 and 3 of the Centenary Trail with Cspavins. TFTC (Unfortunately my pen stopped working so couldnt sign the log)
I walked a section of the Centenary Trail and collected these caches as I passed. Thanks to the generous hints, most of these were found without any issues. I don't usually bulk post logs, but with so many being found, it seems appropriate. Thanks for placing the series.I loved the title and hide at GZ it made for an easier find.
My family and I have headed down from Brisbane to Canberra for the Easter break to visit relatives living here. The lure of a Mega event in town at the same time was just a coincidence, honestly .So far during our visit here I have spent most of my time on family related activities, with the odd session of geocaching thrown in. Today I had the full day to myself, with my wife having to do some work remotely and my daughter catching up on an assignment.Having done very little exercise since a hike around the 13 highest peaks of Kosciuszko National Park, I thought a walk along part of the Canberra Centenary Trail would be just the ticket to make use of my free time. Unfortunately the weather was not playing ball with spitting rain and a strong breeze blowing as I set off on my walk. I had been a bit ill prepared in packing for this road trip, forgetting most of my hiking gear at home as well as a rain jacket. Luckily I decided to grab the umbrella I keep stashed in the back seat - it certainly came in handy later in the walk.Indeed, it does look like a throne! I spoke too soon, thinking the showers had stopped, as the intensity of the rain picked up as I approach this cache with a strong wind blowing to back it up. Thankfully the cache found quickly and I could keep moving on towards the summit.
The Cockburn Crew are on tour at the Capital Geobash in Canberra - travelling from Perth to Sydney, Canberra, Sydney and finally back to Perth.Today was day 3 and we had an absolute blast, after an earlier night last night we got up early to head to Yass and the surrounding areas to cleanup a bunch of caches inparticular whereigos and our personal favourite the challenge caches. We stopped in Yass and completed some high quality caches before venturing back to the trails. We completed a huge number of trails, challenges, whereigos, traditional, multis, earthcaches, labs, virtuals and puzzles. It really was a great day for variety. We enjoyed caching in territory we havent been before. Weve filled our boots with some rare DTs and DTTs and generally had a great time. Thanks to the COs for a great day and event. Logs signed as part of team WA/WAC (WA Crew)
Out and about again, headed around Canberra for the MEGA. Super excited my first MEGA and heading over with 2 others from the Cockburn Crew - signed log as WAC to save time. This is 14798, hoping to clock over the 15,000 finds in the week in New South Wales and ACT.Thanks to DARKSIDEDAN for the caches we found.********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024 OZMEGA2024********** ********** ********** ********** ********** **********Head over to Australian Capital Territory for Capital GeoBash MEGA - Canberras first ever Mega Event. Thank you for the cache!Ironford and I travelled to Canberra for the MEGA, and we had a really lovely time. It was a great idea to have geocaching tours around the main event - we got to meet the local geocaching community, and we got a lot of advice and education, too.One Tree Hill was a beautiful area to explore. Thank you, DARKSIDEDAN, for guiding the tour and taking us to the caches along the way. Thank you all for making it such a great experience! I enjoyed the tour and all the caches very much. The view at the top of the hill was spectacular, and I was very happy to spot many kangaroos through the day. Greetings from Prague, Czech Republic
A huge thank you to the cache owner for creating and maintaining a wonderful cache. EP79 and I have embarked on a three-month long geocaching trip across the globe, and we are both grateful and thrilled to discover new places and new friends. The first part of our trip is dedicated to Australia and New Zealand. Today we embark on a wonderful adventure provided by the MEGA Capital Geobash and a local geocaching community. Many thanks for organizing the tour to One Tree Hill, and thank you, DARKSIDEDAN, for leading our group. Also many thanks to many wonderful fellow cachers for wonderful company and many stories, both fun and illuminating. The list of caches was awesome, and I truly enjoyed this experience. Happy to find so many of them on the trail.Sorry for logging with a delay. The trip was really busy, but at least I get to revisit these caches again and enjoy great memories. Many thanks for the invite to a beautiful place and for a wonderful geocaching adventure. Greetings from Prague, the Czech Republic, Europe.
Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN.Visiting Canberra for Easter to visit my son and to attend the GeoBash mega.Found as part of the One Tree Hill tour group conducted by Darkside Dan. All logs signed as OTH2. This was a beautiful walk - a gorgeous morning, clear skies and no wind. Glad we started early in the day before it was too hot.Really great group, lots of stories along the way.
Thank goodness for a rest here to find the cache - thanks for placing a cache here!!! Found with OTH2 on a beautiful morning walk.
Found while attending the Mega and out with the tour group at OneTree Hill. A great day out. Log signed for the group as OTH2Another great day for caching. ?? TFTC DARKSIDEDAN

This location was so nice Refreshing and the last rest before the final hike upSpoiler alert pic of the top with buckoraiderThanks DSDFav point for the day we had
Well now, that does look rather like a throne! Im pretty sure the king of One Tree Hill used to sit on this assemblage of rocks, looking down over his kingdom of Gungahlin and keeping an untrusting eye firmly affixed on his nemesis at the top of Oak Hill.No one has seen the king of One Tree Hill for a very long time.Found as part of the One Tree Hill tour group conducted by the legendary Darkside Dan. All logs signed as OTH2. Thanks!
Signed with OTH2 on the mega adventure to One Tree Hill. Thank you to DARKSIDEDAN for adopting and maintaining these caches, and for taking us all on this adventure!
TFTC! 29 March 2024 10:12:34am 7817 thanks to DARKSIDEDAN for the cache! Up very early after a late night for the Capital Geobash tour led by Darkside Dan and Martin. A great tour and great views. Signed as OTH2. Continued onto Bonner after the tour!
Neat location and view to the north, took a little while for the finders to find. Signed as OTH2, thanks again.
Visiting from Virginia USA, caching with the Capital Geobash tour led by Darkside Dan and Martin. What a great group to hike and find caches with. We have really enjoyed these tour adventures. Thanks Dan and Martin!
Awesome views this morning on a walk up One tree hill with Darksidedan leading the tour group as part of the Canberra MEGA. Found and signed as group OTH2 to save space. TFTC
Day 10 of the Chwiliwr and my trip from Perth to Canberra. Decided today to attempt the nearby virtual cache and a few of the traditional caches on the trail.Cache found without problems. Log was signed and the cache returned as it was found. Thanks for placing this cache for other cachers to find.
Found while exploring around the area with a friend on a beautiful but brisk morning. TFTH
Was geocaching for 12 hours straight today, in an attempt to (a) beat my record for caches found in a single day, (b) beat my record for caches found in a month and (c) continue to beat my record for longest caching streak. If my mathematics is correct (doubtful), I believe I achieved all of these objectives – woohoo! Did a loop walk from Hall, up to One Tree Hill, and through Casey, before picking up a few addition caches at Gold Creek.
For some reason we had cache blindness and took longer than it should’ve. We didn’t want to go into a rather large patch of nasty vegetation… but finally need to succumb if we wanted the find.
Muggle65 and l are grabbing the last CCT3 cache. Took longer than it should have as l am a wuss and avoid prickly things. After a while there was nowhere else to look. Thank you for the fun (l think)
With the sky cloudy, but no rain forecast, I decided a walk up One Tree Hill was long overdue. I spaced out my caching so I had something to distract me on the way back. I only failed at one, but a few were quite a challenge to locate. I saw an echidna looking for ants on the trail and the view from the top was well worth the climb, even if the main trail was not too much of a challenge.
Thanks for the cache DARKSIDEDAN

A big effort today to hopefully clear section 3 of the CCT trail. Have been wanting to do it for a long time but never really had the time and didn't like the concept of being kilometres away from help. However got up at 8am today and spent about 5 hours going along and getting all the caches with only 3 DNFs, a number I can work with. Every single cache I found was in relatively good condition with no wet logbooks (some did have missing logbooks though).
Any extra comments are listed below.
57 caches found today. Thanks DARKSIDEDAN for adopting this series and maintaining it, that would be a lot of effort!
Giving a favourite point here on the behalf of the series. Thanks

I started this series on 24th Dec 2019 as the area was thick with bushfire smoke, and only completed about 10 caches. Today, 2 years to the date, Ive returned to complete the series from Mulligans to Hall. Cache found and log signed/stamped

Good name for the cache. Going on a walk with family and decided to take a quick detour to grab this one. Took me ages to find for some reason - unsure if I'm broken or the GPS is, lol. Anyways, good hide! Almost lost the lid to the wind but prevented any disaster. TFTC!
15th of 65 finds today on the trail. Hiked from Hall to Mulligan's with only 3 DNF's with Injuryman. Spotted the throne on our return from the summit and soon had CIH. Logged and replaced. Cheers.
#2592 Nineteenth of 32 finds while exploring the Canberra Centennial Trail. Quick find after a short search. TFTC
Today we thought we'd start the first day of the new year with a good geocaching hike, so spent 4 hours on the CCT to (and beyond) One Tree Hill, finding all but one, and admiring the views along the way. We left goodies where we could (Ooshies, Simpsons minifigs, or safety whistles) - but a lot of the containers and/or logs desperately need replacing. We've tried to remember which ones so we can let the CO know.
Because we'd decided to grab this and Fire Finder II on the way back to the car, we bush bashed up, rather than have to walk further to the path/steps. Made no sense, but it seemed quicker at the time! This was a cool spot, and the throne was actually quite comfy! TFTC.

I took advantage of the cooler weather today to return to the CCT to find the remaining traditional caches I didn't get around to last week. As many have noted, lots of these caches need serious maintenance, which is a shame... nonetheless it's a great ride. Didn't see any wriggly reptiles today which was good, but did meet a large echidna who was perturbed by my presence.
This cache was a straightforward find at GZ.

Continuing my trek along the centenary trail today. Short diversion to this quick and easy find, but it was super windy in this spot and I nearly lost my hat multiple times! TFTC
Quick detour up here and a nice cache find at the throne.
A nice early spring walk of the Flinstones family together with NerdyNic (aka Forestbugs). We had been plainging to this hike together for years now. A bit windy but otherwise nice weather. We did a car shuffle to the half way mark on the CCT trail to start us off and walked to Hall from there. The first bit till One tree Hill was particularly special as we had the trail to us and it felt more like a walk in the wild. The 2nd half was much more busy with walker coming from Hall and turing around at One tree hill. We signed most logs with DNFP (as in Dino, NerdiNic, Flintstones and Pebbles)
The trail here is a nice way of doing this hike, although it is atm slowly deteriating.
Thank you Champs2Monkeys for putting the cache out and maintaining it.

Found this nice Cache together with Dino and Flintstones. Thank you for putting it out and maintaining it Champs2Monkeys.
I had thought yesterday about returning to do another section of the CCT and when I saw this DT combo ( which I haven’t got ) the decision was made. So up, up, up from back of Casey I came. I hadn’t forgot how steep it was from last time but maybe I’m a little less fit. There was a lot of huff n puff. The stairs were welcome. And the cache soon found and the throne gazed upon. Tftc.

I went for a ride on my bike
Instead of doing a hike
To find some difficulty 3
But my seat it came loose
And to avoid the abuse
I decided to cut the ride short
I dashed up one tree hill
Where the air was quite still
And then rode quicly back to the car
Thanks Champs2Monkeys

I came and found the cache on the way back down from One Tree Hill. Ninth one of the day. Naturally, I had to sit on the throne to show the geoson why the cache was called that. TFTC
Decided to do the centenary trail today, only able to convince Caro into joining.(logged as ABC) Trying to raise my d:t average for a challenge back home. Thanks for the cache
Wow what a view, beautiful spot to sit and think.... Its funny how you start to climb and the wind picks up...
Off for a walk today on Easter sunday while everyone else eats some chocolate. A lovely morning walk with Aussieben. Logged as ABC to save space and time. Thanks for the cache!
4107 of 59 at 3:10:00 PM on Tealby's Mega Tour (TMT) renamed Tealby's Nice Tour (TNT) because it was dynamite... or so it goes. The TNT team comprised 8 caching identities and 10 actual geocachers; including locals 2 BluFish, Sebass14 and Aykayem, plus visitors Kingfisher_au, BillHill531, Happy Feet 1 and Team GBS (all the way from Zimbabwe!). My tour was meant to be 20km in total, but we ended up walking just over 22km (although some recorded up to 24km on their apps). But we did finish by the promised time - all feeling decidedly weary but satisfied with the total haul. A fantastic day to be out for a walk on this section of the Centenary Trail - I had previously found a few of the caches, but still ended up with my biggest day's tally (and bigger than my total find count for 2013 and 2016!!). I had visions of finding a few extra to take it up to 100 finds, but it got too dark & I was too tired on my way home to bother. Maybe another day. Thanks for all the effort that has gone in to creating the caches - sonly a couple of DNFs along the way. TFTC!
Ok ... Finally catching up on my logging for all of my finds/etc during the Clearwaters Mega (getting around to doing things is not one of my strong points - lol) so sorry about the late log (I am logging it as the date I found it on, but am actually typing this in June ... so only 2 months late
Today began with a breakfast event (at which I did not buy breakfast - lol) and then I had to dash off from there early, in order to meet in Hall, to be ferried to the start point of the CCT tour walk ... which began with a dnf on a missing Gaurd rail cache, then a nice more than 20km walk for the 10 of us, making rather a lot of cache finds (with only a couple more DNFs), and where the last dozen or more were visits to ones I had already found on a couple of walks to One Tree Hill and back. Then it was a quick duck home to grab my ladder, so people could use it for the tree cache I was camped beside at the Mega, then a late arrival to the Meet the Mayor event back in QBN, followed by another 5km walk (in the dark, and part of which I ran, because I must be crazy) to be in on the joint FTF on the new night cache
These logs for today are going to be generic, with a mostly short comment (that I typed as a draft in the app as I found them) at the end ...
As far as I know, all of the CCT caches were logged with our group name "TNT" ... someone had suggested TMT (Tealbys Mega Team) but then I started singing a certain AC/DC song, so - once someone actually recognised what song I was attempting to sing (lucky there were no glass windows nearby - lol), a few N words were discussed, and it was decided that we had to be "Tealbys Nice Team" instead
TFTC - This was one of the last 22 we did on the tour - the ones I had already found previously, walking from Hall and back, so I stood back and allowed the others to look, and only helped when they were not easy to find (not that I was usually much help - that would have required me remembering where I had found them all!) I am logging all these as notes, so that I can "visit" all the trackables I had with me (I now have a few more than I used to, and they have also brought some friends with them as well

In Queanbeyan to attend the Mega. So great to get here early to spend time catching up with some many familiar faces. Always taking the time to grab a cache, when the opportunity allowed it.
Out on Centenary Trail doing Tealby's Nice Tour so signed all logs as TNT. Had some fun and laughs along the way, while finding a number or good finds and enjoying the trail with it's wildlife, views and company.
Thanks Champs2Monkeys for all the effort of placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play

Thanks for the cache out and about in in a group from the mega logged as TNT
We had noticed this very attractive looking Centenary Trail on running a Pocket Query of the area while still back home in Africa, and so when the opportunity arose to hike the trail as part of the Clearwaters Mega experience we jumped at the chance and booked our places straight away. Today we were a group of 10 cachers led by Tealby, and so all logs were signed as TNT (Tealby's Nice Tour!). We had a major glip with our GPS about a quarter of the way around when suddenly, having just changed the batteries, we found ourselves with not a single cache on our GPS. No idea what happened there but many thanks to Kingfisher_au for having helped us get back on track by pinging the caches not yet found across to our GPS. We throughly enjoyed the day - it was a great hike (our GPS clocked up 22 kilometres) in good company with some super views and in excellent weather. Many thanks to the CO for having laid for the trail so that we could all enjoy it today, and to Tealby for having made it possible. This one was a nice quick find once up at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
